Totally newbie question here, but if I copy a character to the Test Server, does the SG and prestige follow? I thought that couldn't transfer. Is there a way to instantly *get* prestige on the test server to play around with the new prices and build out a base?
[/ QUOTE ]
SG membership and prestige do not get copied with your character. -

Was just on test trying out the new system and I have 1 word for it....BAD!
1. For existing bases converting the base salvage to i/o salvage is royally annoying.
2. You run out of storage for the i/o's that you convert to on your alt, personal storage in the vault and in the salvage bins much too fast. The 30 item limit on the storage bins are ridiculous!
3. The possibility of theft of very valuable i/o salvage is beyond ridiculous since there are no safeguards in place on the storage bins.
4. The recipes themselves are nuts....there is absolutely no reason for a rare i/o salvage to be necessary for a tier 1 base item.
5. The elimination of the base salvage really puts into jeopardy the ability to build base items as SG members will not be willing to give up/donate valuable i/o salvage that can be used for personal enhancements (especially now that you are also introducing dual builds)
6. With only i/o being the only type of salvage in the game now your economy will go completely out of wack...if you think Hami Goos and Essence of the Furies are expensive now, wait until this new system goes live.
7. The powers that be keep on saying that they are doing everything they can to discourage RMT's, but this change will only amplify them. This is a gold mine for the gold farmers.
8. Crafting the base items has become more tedious that it was before. In the prior system, I would just load up on the different types of base salvage (since there was no limit as to the amount of different types of salvage) and sit in front of a crafting table and be able to build what ever I needed with out having to stop and "reload" on salvage as often as you will have to under the new system.
9. The multiple recipes for each base item is very confusing. I had thought that they had wanted to make base building easier and eliminate confusion.
I'm stopping now as typing this is making me angrier and angrier about the changes to the base building system. The changes have essentially taken what for me was one of the most creative fun parts of the game and ruined it. The new system really can not be allowed to go live as it has so many flaws and is, IMO, very poorly designed and executed.
DEVs, there have been many voices raised here in this forum asking you to please communicate with us about these changes. I implore you to please contact some of the "leaders" of the base building community (PlasmaStream, MadScientist, Hellgaurd, Snow_Globe, Robo_Knight just to name a few off the top of my head) and listen to their concerns about the new system. The changes to say the least are very very unpopular.

^ This
Not to mention that any reductions in pricing to rooms/plots/rents has just been offset by using a lot more influence to purchase salvage for crafting base items. Total wash as far as I'm concerned an not really a change for the better.
Has anyone checked if the conversion rate in City Hall has been changed at all? -
[ QUOTE ]
The only changes that were done to bases this time were strictly in ways that will help PvPers. Nothing was done to help brand new people and the prices changes are not there to help you and me. They are very specifically there to help people get their bases ready for PvP.

By adding rare (and expensive) salvage for basic Tier 1 base items? Who is going to want to use a Hami Goo to build a porter when they will more than likely need it for an IO in a dual build?
These changes give us no incentive at all to open up storage permissions to everyone. Thefts were bad enough when it was just IOs needing them, now add in dual builds AND base items and it is a whole lot worse. -
Bleh... kept forgetting to say a big thanks to PlasmaStream and all for collating all the info for this.
It's very much appreciated.

If our input was wanted, we've been offering it for weeks. The opposite of what we asked was given.

Yeah, I hear ya.... sad as it is to say, i13 is the first issue that I really can't get excited about. These changes seem very poorly thought out. I hope there is a bigger picture to why this drastic of a change was implemented.
Here's to hoping i14 will bring something worthwhile. As far as bases go, i13 is the ED and GDN of base updates -

Sorry to say this, but after reading everything, this just made base building a lot more complicated and cost prohibitive. Sure you save on the prestige for room/plot costs but the i/o salvage crafting costs are a bit high. Granted there are multiple recipes for each item (that in itself is very confusing), but having rare i/o salvage for basic items such as TP pads is too much. I can understand using the rare i/o salvage for tier 3 items or even some of the tier 2 items, but tier 1 items should not have to cost rare i/o salvage.
[/ QUOTE ]
/QFT
Saying that the "Salvage Found" message was more confusing than having 3 recipes for the same thing??
And Tier 1 items using rare salvage items?? Seriously DEVs, if you do read through these, please take this into consideration...
[ QUOTE ]
Devs, please do a focus group with some of the main base builders in this forum (both PvE and PvP) and really find out what the players want out of the bases. Leave the bases alone for i13, even i14 if need be, and really do a revamp of the base system.

I can not emphasize how much I agree with that. -

Glad you all enjoyed it!
She did a wonderful job on it.
Just so you know, if you are local to the Flemington NJ area, you can stop by Comic Fusion and bid on it with the proceeds going to a very good cause.
Check out what is there! -

Night Fyre and Zillah's Base.
Night Fyre is my Fire Blaster and Zillah is my wife's Dark Defender. I never did anything to funky with our base, but got inspired by some of the designs here. A couple of notes:
1 - somehow I got turned around and put the entrance at the "top" of the map, hehe.
2 - The base is built more for style and look, than actual function.
3 - I don't do magic desks.
4 - The place is sparsely decorated on purpose, except for the library which is still not too packed. The mood of the place is aimed at ancient, and nigh uninhabited. The CoT mage lived there alone so not a lot of stuff.
The story behind the design
NF and Zillah recently defeated a powerful CoT mage, and since their base was destroyed in the last Rikti invasion (convenient, huh?), they decided to stake a claim to the mage's stronghold. The fact that he had compiled a vast library of knowledge of all-things evil, and seemed to be the guardian of an ancient crypt helped in their decision, too.
The "Protected Crypt" contains 2 "coffins". It's guarded by powerful spells focused in several crystal balls. No one we've brought in has been able to crack the spells and gain entrance to the crypt, so we've taken guardianship of the place in part to monitor the crypt until the spells are broken. The walls seem to be painted in human blood and the crypt contains a single torch that never goes out. No other light will function in that hall.
The library is a massive collection of ancient and powerful knowledge. We will begin cataloging it and using it aid in our fight against the forces of darkness.
Base Linky, feedback welcome

Very well done!
I can't wait to come over and visit now -
Thought I would share a drawing my wonderful sweetheart made as a donation for the upcoming NJ Superhero/Wonder Woman Weekend. She found a pic of Lynda Carter that she really liked and put this together in pastels.
Wonder Woman in pastel
She is doing another Wonder Woman sketch for me in colored pencils as well as some of my CoX toons. I will post them to share in the near future.
If you like her art, I'm sure she would be delighted to do some commission work.
Hope you all like it and enjoy! -

Honestly, I appreciate the decision. The fact that they listened to the player base and modified their plans to fit is a VERY good thing to hear.

I've been working on a re-design of our SG website and I'm currently redoing the base section. Took me a while to get around to this rebuild as we have been splitting our time between heroside and villainside (Warbirds VG). Our old base can still be seen here. As you can see, we've grown a little...
Overview
Entrance (1)(2)
Medical Center (1)( 2)
Conference Center and Workshop (1)( 2)
Command Operations Center (1)( 2)
Generator Room (1)(2)
Transportation Center (1)(2)( 3)
Enjoy! And feel free to roll a toon on Triumph to come and join us in the fun -

Very nice. I dig it.
Is there a backstory posted somewhere?
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you.
I've been working on redesigning the SG website and will be including a few pages for the backstory/characters of the VG.
Hope to have it done in a few weeks. Stupit work taking up all my time -
Thanks for the compliments.
I've been trying to get a fiery/smokey look to it (kind of like the one you see in the trailer for The Dark Knight (sample), but can't seem to get it right.
It's either too complex a shape for that effect or I just don't know enough Photoshop magic to make it happen.
Any ideas? -
I've been futzing around with re-designing and adding to our SG website to include info. and backstory to our recently started VG, Warbirds. I started laying out a concept for the VG logo and thought I'd share the progress so far.
Warbirds Logo
Drawing some inspiration from the Terran Empire of the Star Trek: TOS episode " Mirror, Mirror ", I started with the base design from our SG Logo (seen here on our splash page), and put a nifty sword in. Changed the blue to red and there you go.
It's still a work in progress... I'd like to clean up the light burst behind it. I had wanted to do the outline in a flame-type effect, but it hasn't worked out too well so far. I'm going to try a few other tricks to see if I can get it to work.
P.S. No, it isn't a requirement for the VG to have a goatee. -

The Merit System sounds potentionally Game Breaking. It'll destroy the price structure of the BM and WW. If the dev's are smart they'll keep the Uniques and Ultra Rares out of the reward choices otherwise it'll take a lot of fun out of the game. Part of the reason for me doing Tf's is that i dont know if i'm gonna get something uber rare or not.

Might want to look at how Lighthouse clarified the announcement where he states:

Though the twists of fate it may never drop for you (random numbers being what they are).
[/ QUOTE ]
The potential exists that you will never, ever get the recipe you are looking for as a drop regardless of how many TFs you run. Hence, the new merits.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's why the black market is there if you want something bad enough and just cant get it you can buy it if you have hte inf to back that desire up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or, you can use the new merits to take a chance and roll for one of those recipes. Not everyone has billions of inf to blow at the market. -

First veats now empathy for vills......sigh....I sure hope u got something big for heroes coming.

Villains have needed (and IMO still need) a whole lot more attention as they have had less content than heroes. -

Color me annoyed with lack of Pistols.
I like the rest but I find myself less than enthused, and my general attitude towards the whole thing dampened as I once again find that this highly sought after set is absent.

Color you spoiled. Seriously.
The new things for i13 mentioned so far > pistol set. -

In terms of the mission creator - will be allowed to use our own characters as "signatures" hero/villains or create new ones specifically for that story arc?
[/ QUOTE ]
That would be so bad [censored] if we can! -
[ QUOTE ]
some cool stuff but i'm a little upset at the idea of nerfed rewards on the custom missions.
[/ QUOTE ]
You should have seen this coming though and I don't blame them one bit for doing it. There would be people out there that would make story arcs containing nothing but delivery and glowie click missions for huge amounts of XP to powerlevel themselves. -
[ QUOTE ]
I liked the correlation that the name has between some of the improvements we are making to bases (in the way new things are purchased for them)
[/ QUOTE ]
Any reason why no further info was mentioned in terms of base improvements for i13? I'm certain there will be more details to come in the next few weeks... just curious why so little was said about it now.
Sounds like a fun update so far.
