It is if I can custom tailor them so that my toon has much less of a risk against them than I would normally against non-custom NPCs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Here's one for you...

In the Maria Jenkins mission "Defeat Infernal and his Minions" the Devs put a repeatable mission into the game which has mobs that essentially do only Fire damage.

Technically, a Fire Tank, Fire Scrapper or even another AT with the Fire Shield Ancillary power and a few IO bonuses could run that mission repeatedly with almost zero risk for unlimited rewards.

And of course there is the popular "Battle Maiden" mission (from the same contact) which has mobs loaded with basically nothing but Smashing and Lethal damage types.

However by your logic, if I were to build basically those EXACT same missions in the AE then I would be creating blatant exploits and be certain to see the "Wrath of the Devs" for having built it.

If that is true then I guess whatever Dev designed the Maria Jenkins mission arcs is about to come into work and find his paycheck nerfed, right?

Or perhaps your interpretation of what is an "exploit" is a bit out of tune with the designers of the game?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Dreck mission and the Wolf farming one used to be non-timed and now they are due to over-farming. The Devs do change missions.

Also, if you're working a specific type of toon up to play one high-level mission arc for farming, more power to you.

Its a 'feature' for the female characters only that they can't sit with legs up on benches or arms over the backs of chairs >.< The emotes are distinct for male/huge characters

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed, we can't have pervs staring up our skirts now can we

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can if they do one of the sitledge emotes.

I don't have the link handy, but if you google "Mantids CoH Emote Guide" you should find it. It might list the correct /e to the individual sitting emotes. Not 100% sure though.
  3. You're all doing your sewer runs tonight? I thought this was Saturday?

No big deal if you are. I'll hold off on doing ours for another day.

COX only has 2 populated server's now Freedom being #1. Not even a year ago other server's were thriving, but not anymore. So tell me something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll tell you something. This part of your post is pure BS.

Sure, a lot of people left the game due to PvP changes. A lot of people left the game BEFORE the PvP changes too. More players have come since the release if i14. Some will stay, some will go for various reasons. The subscriber base has remained relatively constant over the past few years, so attempting to cry the game is dying is totally not true.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
This "it affects us all" thing is [censored]. If you really want to avoid the effects of a noob population, its very easy - get some damn friends.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This line of thinking didn't work well at all when it came to PvP changes.

The nerfs that will come about because of the selected few will affect everyone, not just those selected few.

I still think it would be nice to have at least a duo boss option. For those times you want two bosses having a conversation as you approach them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree and was similar to a suggestion I posted for a "Prevent Negotiation(s)" feature.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
So while it would be nice (because it's always good to have more options) I wouldn't call it a "must have,"

    [/ QUOTE ]

More options are always nice, yes. Whether this one feature is a "must" or not is subjective to the individual. I was simply pointing out there is more than one place in the game that it exists.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
We can't force people to stop using the AE for fast 50's, but it seems like the average person doesnt give them a whole lot of incentive to stop when they try to.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Some of us on Triumph are running a weekend long, server wide event to help newer players learn the game and explore other areas the game has to offer.

Not everyone treats newer players badly.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
You honestly want players too lazy to leave a building playing the rest of the game with you?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Please quote me where I said this?

    Reading comprehension does wonders.
  13. Shadow-Force will be hosting a quick sewer run this evening around 7:00 PM EST in Atlas Park, followed afterward by everyone's favorite... a Manticore TF!
  14. Eh, I give this two stars. If you do a rewrite to make it rhyme or something, I'll give it 4.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
The answer is no, and why do you consider it a must? There is only one encounter in Dev-created content with multiple AVs in one spawn, and it is considered poor design by the majority of the playerbase.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Both the STF and LRSF have multiple AVs in one spawn. Pretty sure that one Oro TF has two or three AVs in one spawn as well.

Also, what is one players "poor design" is another players "fun and challenging". I wouldn't make the assumption that the "majority" feel it is a bad design either.

    To the OP:

I've tried finding a map that would allow for something similar, but couldn't find out that worked well. If I do find one, I'll let you know.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
And no I'm not talking about the whiners sounding off about not finding teams or having their precious chat box filled with something other than tired out cosplay ideas.

I'm seeing the reality of newer players who don't know jack [censored] about their powers and how it affects those around them. Hell, some 'veterans' are still mystified about powers that have been here since launch. But it's getting worse and while I love my farms I will agree with those who say AE needs to be scrapped completely and/or removed until further notice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's a very good summary of what the problem is IMO. On top of amplifying the issues of inexperienced players, I personally have seen on Triumph alone many new players who bought the Architect Edition believing that AE is the entire game. Out of this group of players, there are those who do go out and explore (once they know there is actually more than one zone). However, there are just as many in my experience who once they realize they have to travel back and forth to contacts and face enemy groups that aren't custom suited to be "super easy" for them, they don't bother with the rest of the game and go right back to AE.

Another poster mentions the sense of "entitlement" that new players have with the AE. Since their brand new first toon ever in CoX got PL'ed to 50 within a matter of hours, why shouldn't they get the same for their next one? And the next one after that?

I also don't necessarily subscribe to the "it doesn't effect me, so I don't care" line of thinking. An easy farming mission we create (for whatever reason) that causes substantial negative changes to the AE effects everyone, not just us as individuals.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
Thinking people WOULDN'T do that is the fallacy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's what I don't get either. Seems like they really thought and wanted it to be about players writing good stories with the AE. How they didn't realize it would be more about farming for quick XP boggles the mind.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Well the only way I feel truly at minimal risk against 17 angry lieuts is if I'm defense capped, and in that case you're not going to get much resistance from most of this game's pve anyway. I still have trouble in some farms with fire/kin or spines/dark (trouble meaning there's plenty of chances for me to die while doing it).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Only way I see you dying in a farm is due to you not paying attention for some reason

Having a mission full of lvl 54 Lt's and repeating it 1,000 times isnt an exploit. It's my freedom to creat my own story about a bunch of level 54 angry Lt's!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously. You're not fooling anyone. You're creating questionable content in the AE to get fast, easy XP with minimal risk.

If it's such a great story and a non-farming, non-exploit arc, post the arc ID and we can review it for you

or are you truly that deluded and dense and vitriol filled?

  20. It is if I can custom tailor them so that my toon has much less of a risk against them than I would normally against non-custom NPCs.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
The problem is when there no possibility of risk across many ATs, and these particular things should be addressed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agreed.

    [ QUOTE ]
One thing I really find funny is how people are calling aggro caps of level 54 lieuts "easy content" with "minimal risk" yet having 8 people facing mobs of only +1s or +2s never qualifies for those terms at all. Such hypocrisy, I think people have just forgotten how to use that terminology.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Come on Rikti, even you aren't that dumb. How many Invul tanks are making AE farms with custom Psi/Psi Lts. and Bosses to farm?
  22. Creating easy content for fast, riskless XP is not what the AE was designed for.

  24. Just pointing out that going from 1 to 28 in 30 minutes kinda falls under the "easy leveling" Positron was referring to.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
There are other missions you can do with a huge map and go from 1-28 in 30 mins. Just play around with it.

    Too much xp you say..lol

    [/ QUOTE ]

Might not want to advertise that on the forums.

    Per Positron:

    [ QUOTE ]
I should probably take this moment to talk about what the Mission Architect is not meant for. It is not meant for "easy leveling" or "badging" or "farming". Those are things that we specifically wanted the Mission Architect NOT to do. This may be a disappointment to some, I know. The goal was to give creative minds an outlet to tell the stories they have in their heads. We didn't want the system clogged with Farm missions, so actually finding someone's story that they lovingly crafted became more a chore than it was worth.
