  1. I doubt that we will ever be able to buy larger file sizes for MA arcs. The main reason given by the developers was bandwidth for file transfer. Storage space isn't really an issue on their end.

Hopefully they can do something in the future to increase the pipeline for it, but I would not get my hopes up. It's more likely we'll see improvements made to the way files are saved so the process is made more efficient.

    AE- I'm very sad

Except this isnt how the game is at all. MOST of the community is playing other stuff than the AE. They just arent standing around in town zones screaming in broadcast for pugs. the pugs are in the AE. the rest of us are gladly doing whatever we please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is what I do. Well, ignoring for a moment the fact that I nearly never join pugs any more, if I wanted to, I'd join them from server global channels I hang out it.

There is one possible problem here, though. A new player has no way to learn about those channels except from other players. New players almost certainly start using /req and /b to find teammates, because those features are obvious and in the manual. (Geez, did they update the manual at all for the AE edition box?) If they don't meet a more veteran player or a "newbie in the know", they won't find out about these alternate (and IMO better) ways to find a team doing other things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've been making visits to the AE in Atlas periodically letting new players know about our global channels on Triumph. Some join and use it, others don't.

Veterans who care for the game and community should be doing this on their home servers. It won't help or interest every new player, but it will help some.

Just like how pvp was ruined but the ultimate nerf hammer, it's because of all the noobs whining & crying they get killed so fast in pvp.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I alone know about a dozen or so players who were heavily into PvP prior to the changes that would disagree with you entirely. You're grasping at straws if you believe this is what brought about most of the changes.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
It's surely not your decision if someone should play AE or not or how fast they reach level 50!

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, but it surely is the decision of the developers who have clearly stated they are keeping a close eye on AE created farms and exploits. You go right on PLing your toons to 50 in under 20 hours though. We'll all be smiling when they get locked or rolled back on your account.

And in case you haven't realized yet, those "speed-to-50" farms and exploits are going to get AE nerfed hard, so your actions do affect everyone.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
    The dev's choice for sure aren't farm's but yea I leveled 1 - 27 in one arc.

THANK'S DEV'S! The dev's approved of this mission!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to laugh when XP in AE gets nerfed because of posts like this.
  6. Having AE unlock at 50 is much too extreme. I could see it becoming a contact after level 15 or so, as was suggested. At least it gives some new players the concept that there is more to the game than the AE building.

Not everyone "farming" in AE is a new player either, but players who bought the Architect Edition in stores and believe that AE is the entire game are the ones who would benefit the most from putting off AE until level 15. You'd be surprised how many new players there are that think that the AE building in Atlas is the extent of the game.

    Mod8 went for 300 million.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes I'd like my Dr. Q set to invincible with no travel powers please. j/k

This was a great event Az. We had a good turnout for it! I can't wait for my "Ocho" TF!
  8. [ QUOTE ]
One piece of feedback, which I already shared with Shard, is that the placement of the AE building makes KR a less than ideal Kronos Spawn point now.

I have an idea which I need to test out a bit before making public.

This requires me running WWR again durnit!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I didn't think of that. Stupit AE!

I'm going to test out a few new places myself and see which one works best. At least we got 3 of them to show up, and I was happy to see some names that I know are AE campers so it was great to find something to drag them out of there! I wish we could spawn the Kronos in Atlas. It would be fun!
  9. I think you'll find the same on every server. They may be less vocal, but there are definitely players around who are willing to help new people learn the ropes.

If we can help one new player enjoy the game outside from AE, our goal for the event is accomplished. I'm looking forward to our multi-Kronos spawn in KR. Those are always fun

Here you go. I went a little overboard... 47.8 melee, 50.9 ranged, 46.9 AoE but I did this quick. You could probably 4-slot your first 2 toggles mixing R.Fortune and Gift of the Ancients and use the remaining 4 slots for something else like Laser beam eyes or conserve power.

Thanks! This is actually close to the power choices I had with what I was making, but varied a few minor things here and there.

    Thanks all!
  11. I had the leaping pool, fitness and medicine pool in there. Just curious if it is a necessity to hit the soft cap with the "usual pools" (ie. weave, manuevers) or you can do it just from IO bonuses?
  12. It should prompt you when you start the DC arc if you want to receive AE rewards (tickets etc.) or standard rewards (salvage/recipes).

Did you not get a pop-up when you started the arc?

I got a defeat all with custom Smurfs..... only one mission, and only one play
    It is funny though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks! Now I have that damned Smuf theme song in my head! Arrrgh!!

What's the arc ID? I'll kill them!
  14. Was just emailing a buddy about toons we are rolling for double XP. I was leaning toward a Claws/SR toon (or maybe DM/SR).

Futzing around with Mids, I was trying to see if you could softcap SR with just bonuses from IO sets and without dipping into pools (like weave, manuevers etc.). Closest I could come was around 42% melee/ranged/aoe.

Is it possible to hit the softcap with just IO sets? Or would you need at least 1 from the pool sets?

If there is a sample build somewhere or you have one, thanks!

But by the same token its easy to find enemy groups that already exist that are completely tailored to be useless against a chosen powerset in the regular content.

The major difference being you do have to leave the AE building to find them.

While we are on the subject. add the mission portals and hologram pad to bases as well so we can set up out own Training rooms.

Would be spiffy if they allowed for Arcs to be flagged as "SG/VG specific", so anyone from the authors group would get a small increase in prestige earnings. Would help with the prestige grinding.

I think that's a big difference with Triumph people. We love showing new people what the game REALLY has to offer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well put Cath and 100% true. We have some truly great people here on Triumph. That makes such a big difference in the fun factor of an MMO.

This post got me to thinking back over the years on Triumph. There are too many "best" moments to list. It's hard to choose between being on a great team of vets accomplishing things like the (some say) "impossible" MSTF, or laughing so hard that it hurts watching Foley's "creative" use TP foe to fill ICON and enh stores with baddies for their unsuspecting customers.

The one common theme throughout those memories are the people. They are what make the game fun.

P.S. Yah I agree with Cath... Imeco at 1? There is something just wrong with that.

    ITF Weekdays

We didn't struggle with him in that we had a hard time taking him down. Reichsman went down without much fuss. I think what Turbo meant was that his Unstoppable every minute or so as his health falls becomes more boring than challenging after a while. We were just saying last night that the 260K HP is more than enough to keep the average team on him for a while, even with tons of debuffs and damage. Having him pop unstoppable every minute seems redundant.

The SF is more fun IMO.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Um I thought a few pages ago you said it was an exploit and that there was absolutely no risk in fighting 17 level 54 lieuts with less-than-l33t powerset choices. W/e. TBH I agree Mitos are exploits but I'm still going to use them if I get the chance because I, like many others, am completely repulsed by the thought of taking longer than necessary to do my least favorite part of the game (the non-50 part).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Seriously Rikti, if you have toons that can not easily survive level 54 Lts and Bosses that are custom tailored to be as weak as possible against your toons strengths, then you just plain stink. I also never said it was an exploit.

If you can apply a little reading comprehension, the discussion is referring to new players coming into the game that believe the AE is the entire game. Also, given the choice of the easy road to 50 within a few hours by running quick-and-easy AE farm missions or at least trying some of the other content, it's a safe bet what route most will go.

Something like the Mitos is an exploit. Creating farms of NPCs custom tailored to be as weak as possible against you is not, but also not necessarily good for the game overall either.

Again I am very sorry for not being at this event but I need my job

    [/ QUOTE ]

Be safe my friend! I know you have been working hard lately, so don't worry about a thing with the event.

Enjoy your trip and be safe. See you Wednesday!

P.S. I sent you a PM here so I hope you get it while you are in Shanghai
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Also, my point was, that if those missions are not "exploits" then I don't see how an AE mission with identical mobs could be either.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't believe I said it was an exploit. I was simply referring to the ease of creating easily defeated custom mobs that have essentially no defense. Are you going to make a custom group of Psi/Psi Bosses for your Invul Tank's AE farm or go with bosses that do nothing but S/L? Kind of a no brainer.

I'm also not saying that people shouldn't be doing those kinds of things. But content like the Mitos where they can be killed with no risk is an exploit.
