As for Martial Arts, the alternate animations we have right now are mainly punches. The idea was to provide you guys with a way to make the classic, fights with their fists and feet, super-hero that many have been asking for.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are the new punches really "new" or are they recycled uses of punch, jab, smite etc? -

This is more than 10 but there are so many things one could list here;
<ul type="square">[*] Introducing my best friend and her hubby to CoH. They both still play and it's always nice to see them on.[*] Soloing each of the Praetorian AVs on my Scrapper prior to ED and Regen nerfs.[*] Entering the old RWZ on my scrapper during the first Winter Event. Seeing it filled with Winter Lords, then realizing that I was the only one in the zone... and they were all mine.[*] The night that the Respec Trial first went online. It was so buggy it brought all the servers down (twice IIRC) and contained level 54 Rikti bosses who kept 1 shotting us.[*] The Citadel TF where I met GrudgeRockhorn (on Starwoman), one of the best tanks ever.[*] Any time I've teamed with Foley. No matter what we do, it's always fun and we always laugh.[*] Any time I've made a Mini of someones toon. I remember GrudgeRockhorn absolutely hated, I mean HATED Mini Starwoman when I first made her. Until one day he saw me herding about a million Hellions in Perez (before the aggro cap). From that point on, whenever we would team up, he would send me a tell to "bring Mini".[*] Getting invited to join the Grand Coalition channel. Some great people on there and always something going on.[*] All the great people I've met in PoO, Carnival of Light, Fusion Force, Global Heroics, G.H.O.S.T. Squad, Riders of Apoc, Dolls, Demolition Girls, Team Apex... the list goes on. I don't care what anyone says about Triumph, there are some great people here.[*] Earning the MSTF badge along with a great team of people, even though we had Sun Splitter with us
[*] BoP getting renamed to Shadow-Force, then making the top 100 SG list about a week later.[*] Anytime Triumph comes together for a MS Raid or Hami run. [/list]

There are thousands of players who play the AE, there are a lot of lazy players that don't hit "next" or "search", that's why when there's a new dev choice arc, it only takes a couple weeks or so before making its way up to 999+ plays.
[/ QUOTE ]
This isn't a developer problem or any kind of bug. It is, as you said, people being lazy. -
Send in a petition to ask if it can be renamed. You never know, they may help you.

I don't see that as being a dev or coding problem though. That's just people being too lazy to use the search features or click the next/previous links. You can lead a horse to water, you can't make it drink.
[/ QUOTE ]
But that is exactly what the default sort does - it leads the horse to water. And that's all I'm asking for.
I'll say it once again - I find it hard to believe the best arcs were all created in April.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm sure there are many great arcs written since April. Use the search features available to you and you'll find them.

I think they call this swing and a miss.

I'm sorry, how are you unable to find other arcs besides the developers choice ones again? -

Me too. I for one am looking forward to never getting a "can u fill?" tell again.
Plus, if they are smart (and I've no doubt this will be in place behind the scenes), they will have even more monitoring for who is doing what and how fast. Good way to narrow in on abusive accounts. -
I think "Wee Wee the Ice Troll" sounded the best so far.
I'm curious what the "alternate" animations for MA and SS will be. :rays to the overlord BaBs:: please let them be new and not recycled animations from existing sets...

Had another thought to add;
Tie AE into the SG Mission Computer
It's often been suggested that the Mission Computer should have more use (beyond the SF), especially since CoP has been offline for ages.
There have been many posts suggesting things like "Danger Rooms" or "Simulators" etc. that are specific to a SG/VG. Adding access to the AE from the Mission Computer may kill 2 birds with 1 stone in this instance.
The idea is to have the Mission Computer be able to create a SG/VG specific arc that anyone in the SG/VG could access. Granted, this can be done already in the AE, but it adds a bit of immersion to have it be accessed from inside the base.
If possible, this arc could also offer a slight prestige increase to members within the SG/VG. I don't know what would be considered a "fair" increase... just tossing out the idea.
I also don't know if this should be limited to 1 arc per group or it can have as many as members are willing to create. Of course, it would use up one of the creators arc slots. -
I don't see that as being a dev or coding problem though. That's just people being too lazy to use the search features or click the next/previous links. You can lead a horse to water, you can't make it drink.
The tools are there to find good arcs, you just need to use them. -

I'm with you. More power to NCSoft if it keeps their bottom line from shrinking as the years tick by, but NCSoft, [u]Please, please add a better way for people to get pick up groups going for non-AE missions![u]

I think the LFG system could use an overhaul.
[/ QUOTE ]
/signed
World of Crapcraft actually had a decent system for this. You could select what you are looking for (ie. quests (down to individual quest names)/dungeons/raids etc) and it would automatically show you who was looking to do the same thing. You also had the option to "auto-join" a group that was looking to do the same as you.
Not to say this was a perfect system to use by any means, but the search capability is much more robust. It also depends heavily on players actually using it and setting themselves "flagged" to find specific teams.
Any improvements to the search would be welcome, although global channels work great too for finding teams. -

1. Auto-SK, if not removed entirely, should only level the party up to the highest levelled player (or the leader.) That way you'd have to sucker at least one level 50 into running farms.
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh? I think I understand this, and no I don't agree.
[ QUOTE ]
2. A cap on how many levels you can gain per mission (say 2 or 3) would prevent newer players from being pulled into the farms as easily but also not tick of the players in their 30s-40s who want to use it to get past a difficult period. Don't cap the xp itself but cap the number of bars they can earn. Heck, maybe even convert anything extra to a point into patrol xp. This won't kill the AE being used for inf/ticket farming but it'll stop the PLing that is honestly the worst of the problems.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wholeheartedly no. And how is "PLing" really a problem? What about 5 year vets who have played the game repeatedly and that really don't want to play the pre-stamina game anymore?
[ QUOTE ]
3. Pull the buildings from Atlas, Galaxy and Mercy. The one in Cap isn't too big of a deal since villains do get a taste of the regular game travelling through Mercy. Pulling new players straight into the AE seems to mostly be a hero issue in Atlas.
[/ QUOTE ]
Many have said - and to a degree the developers have also said - players have the option of leveling from 1 to 50 in AE if they choose. What you are saying now is make it so that they can't do that... they have to wait for level 10 to start using it? You just limited the choice.
No.
If you want new players to explore the rest of the game, go and encourage them to do so. Invite them to team with you. Invite them for TFs.
[ QUOTE ]
4. Up the level the AE contact is introduced. Right now he shows up at level 5 or 10 (I don't remember which) and players haven't even left the starting zones by that point. Also switch the AE tutorial contact to a building in a higher levelled zone (Steel Canyon's a good candidate for blues, Cap or Nerva for reds.)
[/ QUOTE ]
I used to think this, but have since changed my mind about it. I can see the AE contact not being the very first thing that pops up when a new player enters the game, but changing it to level 10 or higher will not solve anything either. They'll get to level 10 to start AE and then never leave the building again. You've just delayed it about an hour or so until they can level to 10 "normally".
"Farming" and "PLing" is not killing the game. Exploits (ie. the now defunct Mitos) hurt the game, and are being dealt with. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ok, I'm not going to go and rant about how farming is ruining the game (even though I totally agree that it is.) But, I do have a small suggestion to slightly curb farming from AE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Farming is not ruining the game. Farming has existed since launch of the game. Farming will always exist. Farming contributes to a healthy in-game market.
Fix the exploits (ie. Mitos) that break the risk vs. reward ratio and leave the rest alone. For every "fix" you can come up with, there will be a way around it.
You are not going to stop farming with this suggestion at all. You are only going to hurt people who use the MA for writing stories. There are instances where you may only want 1 boss or EB in a custom group and nothing else. Your "fix" would break that arc entirely now.

[ QUOTE ]
I dislike the fixation on locking the temp powers in to certain ATs. "BSF team looking for AT X just so we can complete it in an hour" is asinine.
[/ QUOTE ]
Each time we ran this prior to the patch, we did so with no problems and a non-optimal team and finished in under an hour. You don't need to have one of each AT to complete the SF. It's a nice-to-have, but nowhere near a requirement.
Try running with 1 brute, 2 to 3 good debuffers and the rest damage. You'll have no problems taking down Reichsman. -
Item 2 can be created using patrols. You have have more than 2 factions in a mission, it just depends on the amount of patrols a map allows for.
I've seen a few arcs that do this. -
[ QUOTE ]
What I think is a good idea for the front page:
3 random Dev Choice
3 random Hall of Fame
3 random 5 star
3 random 4 star
3 full random arcs
That way the Dev's Choice don't dominate the front page, and it gets rotated every time it's refreshed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, but what is stopping you now from clicking "next" or using the search function to find other arcs? I don't get this. -
I suggested the very same thing a few weeks ago, along with a few other enhancements.
Hopefully this gets implemented. -

I've suggested this a few times already but I don't even know if this game even allow a real Jump and Kick to happen.
What I mean is making Eagle Claw a 20'-30' range attack but instead of shooting something out of your legs (like Focus), you actually Fly, Kick and LAND near the target.
The only thing that is close to this idea is Lightning Rod type of power but you actually have to select an area first.
I think it will be a fantastic buffing idea for Martial Arts as it lacks any real advantage over Dark Melee and Energy Melee as ST Damage Set, and it fits the theme very well too.
What do you guys think?
[/ QUOTE ]
Something like this is what Shield Charge was meant to be. Alas, despite a LOT of work from Sunstorm, BABs and myself, there ended up not being a way to get this functionality to work.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I for one am thankful it didn't. Eagle's Claw is just great the way that it is. -

I'd like to see something added to AE & I think it would give something extra to work towards.
Give any AE mission the option to choose regular rewards instead of ticket's.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stop creating Mito Farms, write a good story worthy of Dev's Choice and you'll have that option.
The only thing stopping your arc from getting a Dev's Choice rating is you.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the fact the devs pick a new one once in a blue moon.
[/ QUOTE ]
And the point being? The Devs do pick new arcs from time to time. If they didn't that would be a different issue. -

Why are you accusing me of exploiting????
You have violated the forums rules about mentioning an exploit. I'll make sure to bring this to a mod's attention.

This coming from the person posting "let me farm my Mitos all I want because it doesn't hurt anyone" threads all over the forums... -

way too many people have no idea how to play their AT.

Provide links to the datamining where you are basing your opinions on. I know 120,000+ players that know how to play the game.

Here's one.
Of course, the sample size is too small to provide an accurate overall picture.

You had the same kind of thing before AE was even thought of. Some people just don't read the manual or ask others for help.
