I think you summed it up very well there. This also depends on the skill level of the players on a team. If they know what they are doing, an EMP becomes less a necessity. I team with a lot of 60+ month vets so my experience with a team "needing" an empath varies a lot from a newer player. I'd also still debate that sets like RAD and DARK will do more for mitigation on a team than Empathy will.

I agree with your post, yet I still feel EMP is better for lower level content before, as you pointed out, toons become self sufficient. An EMP can still be valuable at higher levels, but much more situational in use. IMO, they are certainly less desirable to have around than a solid debuffer. My first 50 was an EMP defender and back in the day, she was a whole lot of fun. Now, I rarely bring her out to do much of anything.

Just my 2 inf, but EMPs are great at lower levels, but at higher levels they aren't really needed. IMO Control/Debuffs are much more desirable for the higher level content.

A word of advice...
When attempting a MSITF run with Turbo, remember to ask him if he has the settings correct so that when you successfully complete it, you do wind up getting the badge. -

Quote:Don't forget, you can take FA without taking a prerequisite power from the Body Mastery set too. You need either Manuevers or Assault before taking Tactics. The only differences is really the tradeoff of one affeting the team and having a higher to hit value, versus the other having a lower to hit value, only affecting yourself, and having that debuff resistance.
I agree FA is essentially a useless power now for how long you need to wait to access it and what it provides in return. -
I thought the Dual Pistols set looked really slick and I'm liking the ammo choices for it. I'll probably resurrect a long deleted toon that I had and re-roll it as DP/Dev (originally AR/Dev).
Foley never forgave me for deleting that toon -

Yeah, you are right. The "out of touch" comment is overboard. I'm just concerned that there won't be much for the 50's to do. But since, as you point out, this is a paid expansion, hopefully they were able to add in some kick butt high end content.

Quote:I see no mention of your wife (Jade-Star) or you daughter (Kung Foo Jade) on there... Foley alway said Turbo would be a dead beat dad.Already added Az and Cath on linkedIn. If anyone wants to add me im at http://www.linkedin.com/in/mbaldini.
I am on faces, that's it. I leave the facebooking and tweeting (mostly tooting) to Monkey. I should have known better than to let him talk me into buying him an iPhone...
P.S. I forgot my password for faces and don't see where to retrieve it? -
Quote:It wasn't answered fully, but Positron did say, "We're trying to do it in a way to make the most players happy with us possible."
Basically, they're trying to figure out a way that it's not going to piss people off.
I'll bet real money this means vigilantes and rogues won't have to give up SG/VG membership, but if you decide to switch sides fully, you forfeit membership.
If this is the case, I think they are seriously out of touch with the playerbase on this issue. It's also IMO a HUGE disincentive to even bother having a hero/villain toon even try the new "morality deciding" content.
Also, they had better have several tons of new high-level content for all the people with 50s that want to try switching sides. I'd hate to see people take their heroes across "the line" to become villains only to be stuck with newspaper missions in Grandville. -

And yet no word on whether or not we will have to give up SG or VG membership if we decide to switch sides. This is an important question that has not been answered yet. If I decide to go Vigilante, do I need to give up my current SG to do so?

Quote:From what we have seen with the graphics and new powersets, there are already lots of things to like with GR. The devil is in the details when it comes to the new content and what they have planned for the level 50s to do.Person with GR info: there will be lots of stuff in going rogue that you will like
One thing I really want to see is a revamp of the respec system. There shouldn't be any reason why we have to blow through multiple respecs to change around enhancement sets. -
Looks very interesting. The graphical updates look really impressive and make it exploring Paragon and the Rogue Isles all over again just to experience the updated look.
As for the rest, I'll reserve the final purchase decision on what the new and updated content holds. This is just my own personal experience, but 5 years into the game, I don't really want to level up new characters as much as I would like for my 50's to have more to do. Hopefully, the new content will be as impressive as the graphics updates and new Praetorian zones. -

Sorry to hear about the employment situation. My heart goes out to you and all those who are falling on hard economic times. Hopefully things will pick up in the coming months, and we'll see less "bailouts" and more "create jobs" in the near future.
Good luck and come back soon!
