On paper this is a great feature. In practice, every time I used it in WoW, I wound up getting onto a team that had no clue what they were doing or were looking for someone to complete their quests or were farmers.

Quote:Interesting that you bring this up. We had an interesting debate on the defense debuff from the Rage crash a few nights ago in coalition chat.Sure, SS has the whole rage penalty crash to work out, but it is completely manageable.
There were some who felt it isn't worth taking on Defense based builds (SD/SR/EA) since the debuff from the crash essentially destroys your defenses. Yes, it's only for a few seconds, yet those few seconds can be an eternity when trying to manage aggro. Just browsing around the forums looking at Tank/Brute builds, you do see a lot of people choosing to skip Rage with their DEF heavy builds. There were a few who said they would take it even with their SD tanks.
It was an interesting topic and might be worth creating a thread here on the forums to discuss it.
Back to the topic, I recently rolled a SD/SS tank a few days ago and I think it is ok so far. -
Quote:I still do this with my main (MA/Regen) in Skyway and along the bridges in IP. At least to me, the sheer entertainment value of watching baddies go flying off into oblivion is worth its weight in goldthe use of knockback is to go to Skyway and go up to the huge overpasses and run along knocking all the villains off onto the ground far below

Quote:I know what you're saying and I would agree only a small percent of the game population bothers with the forums, but that isn't necessarily the fault of the developers. I also tend to agree with Posi's position on keeping their description of what "farming" and "abuse" are vague. If (for example) he said they consider any toon leveled to 50 in 4 hours or less is abuse, there would be players out there who would take 4 hours and 1 minute to circumvent the established rule.So long as that warning is clearly recived by the majority of people, all well and good. I'll admit, i didn't buy the AEbox, but was there a disclamer in it saying "no farming" and discribe what farming is? Is there a warning in the AE ingame instructions about it? (i honestly don't know. never cared about AE?" Was it a clear warning? With clear guidelines? I'm thinking it wasn't. Oh sure, us few who read the forums knew clear as day, but we'er the rare breed out there. Not the norm.
Quote:They screwed up, and fixed it by blaming there customers. It was screwed up IMO. And it could have been avoided if they delayed AE a bit and worked alittle harder on making it harder to exploit.
I agree with you that it would have been better to delay the launch of the AE a month or two in order to fix the major exploits (Mito farms et. al). I guess getting launched > the backlash of the players who used it as intended and now have to live with the consequences of the farmers. -
Well, just my 2 inf, but I look at it as Posi provided the warning... it was the choice of the player to ignore it. It's like buying a product that contains a warning label... if you choose to ignore the warning and use the product in a way not intended and get hurt by it, it's your fault.

Quote:I get the feeling AE was rushed out to capitalize on the press hype. The AE is something brand new and innovative to the MMO market. The AE debocial, IMO, is 100% the dev's fault for there lack of forsight and planing, and common since. They dropped the ball. But, people make mistakes. I just hope they learned from that one.
I don't doubt the devs knew about exploits before it went live. IMO they chose to get it out the door to make the news instead of holding off another few months to close up the holes. -
Quote:Interesting choice of words on Posi's part. The AE Custom Critter changes the devs implemented totally ignore this risk and/or time to reward ratio. There is no incentive to make challenging custom critters that have powers above and beyond what non-custom critters have.
Disregard for the risk and/or time to reward ratio
If an author creates a custom critter or custom NPC group that has more powers/is more difficult than a standard NPC, where is the greater reward for the greater risk? -
I give this thread two thumbs up for using the word "hootenanny"

Was looking at this for a potential build. I took CJ and SJ for the travel, but you could swap this out for Hasten (for more recharge) and SS.
I kept Grant Cover to throw in another LoTG recharge. Most people skip this, but I typically never take Hasten. Just a matter of preference.

The Vanguard costume pieces are too high IMO. Considering you can get the Roman costume (headpieces, chests, gloves, bottoms, boots) from completing 1 ITF, it does seem silly that a Vanguard hat costs as much as a Heavy.
Logging out in the RWZ Vanguard base does help (with the dayjob), but very little. You really need to do a couple of Mothership raids in order to get the complete set. That in itself seems a little much in comparison to other costume sets unlocked in the game. -
Naughty enough? What I've done will be puzzled over and studied and followed forever. People will have conventions!! Posters!! Books!! CD ROMs!!

I tried my other female tanks and didn't have this issue. It seems to be just the Shields tank.
I /bugged it in game. I hope it is changed back soon. -

I agree this is rather annoying. One of the main reasons I avoid escort missions when playing my Stalker. I wouldn't mind seeing this changed so that NPC escorts stop losing sight of you.
I'd also like to see CoT Thorn Casters, Bosses and Behemoth Overlords stop running all over the map when you damage them once. -
Playing my SD/SS tank and noticed that the taunt sound is playing the Tarzan scream instead of the normal Taunt one. Is this a bug or was this an intentional change?

Reminds me of this image of the Hulk vs. Superman... right down to the poses and flowing cape.

This is more of a playstyle preference. Some prefer the KB, others don't. I do see how it can be annoying to a player. It would be nice if these secondary effects could be swapped as part of powerset customization (ie. swapping KB to KD).
