Quote:In his defense, he was only attempting to increase the destructive yield of the photon torpedoes by inserting small amounts of poo into the antimatter warhead. At least you weren't in the quadrant when Monkey was flinging poo out of the photon torpedo tubes....stunk up the entire sector and I sill can't get the stains off off the USS Az'rial C's hull.
Theoretically, this would exponentially increase the gravimetric charge of the torpedo, making them have a yield somewhere between 50 and 80 isotons. With that level of firepower, the torpedo should be able to 1 shot a small planet, and entire Borg fleets in a single shot.
We hadn't taken into account the corrosive nature of Monkey poop, so some of it managed to corrode the torpedo casings and it got all over the place inside the torpedo launchers.
Thankfully, clean up has progressed well. It appears Tribbles have their uses after all... -
I did go back and read it and I interpreted what was said differently than you. Sorry, I just don't see anyone specifically stating "only new subscribers can get lifetime subs".
-
Quote:I think you took this out of context. The earlier post she referred to says:To me that says that lifetime subs would only be offered to people starting new accounts. Pre-existing accounts wouldn't be able to get the lifetime sub.
Quote:And for all anyone knows, offering a lifetime sub along with a new, boxed expansion like GR potentially could bring in another 120,000 more subscribers to play the game because it is a "good deal". -
Quote:I did not read that post as saying it would apply to new subscribers only. I could be wrong, but I interpreted it as an offer to go with the launch of GR as an incentive to potentially bring in some new subscribers.Forbin was pointing out Freeze's statement that lifetime subscriptions would ONLY apply to new accounts and new players coming to the game.
Are you sure you wouldn't be upset about that? Or the large portion of the long-time veterans of the player-base with multiple 50s? It would upse tme if I wasn't allowed to get a Lifetime subscription on my account and, instead, had to get a new account to take advantage of it...

As I said, lifetime subs do not bother me in the least. I can't and don't speak for everyone, but from my personal opinion I really don't care either way. -
Monkey detected an unknown vessel designated the "U.S.S. KarlRoveMan" while on routine patrol of the Hromi cluster the other night. Further analysis was not possible however, as Monkey proceeded to pee on one of the EPS conduits that caused a temporary plasma fluctuation to the antimatter injection assembly. We nearly lost the ship.

I'll be getting my 72 month Vet badge soon and I can tell you, NCSoft offering lifetime subs when GR is released would not alienate me in the least.
-
Quote:Who is to say that offering lifetime subs is a bad business decision? Perhaps link to some article or other evidence that reflects MMO's who offer(ed) lifetime subs are all failures? I'll believe it if I see it.What I would have rather done and what is a smart business decision for NCSoft are two different things entirely.
STO offers lifetime subs and I'll guarantee it is still around years from now. -
For those who oppose the idea, would you rather have paid $200 for a lifetime sub one time 6 years ago or (using the monthly rate) paid $897 (and counting)? You're still enjoying the same game.
Please don't assume "everyone" opposes the idea either. -
From the old-time Hami Raids...

[Triumph Watch 2.0] (nooblet) How do I get the Illusionist Badge?
[Triumph Watch 2.0] (myself) You need to be Magic Origin.
You have been silenced in "Triumph Watch 2.0" by @Snow Globe -

Quote:This is so very true. So very, very true. I still have nightmares about running Scholomance (in that poopy MMO that Mr. T, Mini Me, Ozzy and Shatner play) 157 times and NEVER getting the drop that I needed to complete a gear set... an item which was IMPOSSIBLE to buy at an auction house because once this gear item was picked this up, it was bound to that player and they could not sell it at auction!Nothing wrong with that. What I was trying to say regarding my timesink comment is that compared to what you have to go through in some other games to earn a particular piece of gear, we have it super easy.
Even having the option to roll on items and/or buy them at the market is a boon that we take for granted. -

Quote:How about internet advertising? http://www.syfy.com is polluted with ads for STO. There has to be some good avenues for advertising CoX on the Superhero/comic/MMO genre themed sites out there. The truth of the matter is that TV commercials are expensive and won't bring in enough new users to justify the cost.

I thought the answer was going to be "Shatner really DOESN'T wear a toupee"...

Neat idea! Would be cool if this could be used for other factions in the various zones too. A gang war between the Malta, Nemesis and Carnies in PI would be slick!

Sorry for threadjacking, but the title "Sunday with Reichsman" is really funny! It sounds like some afternoon talk show on PBS.
Best of luck to you on your SF run! Show that Reichsman who's boss!! -
