Tonight, was running Tin Mage, and I dropped enough nukes on Director 11 to get Midnight Dodger badge.
Which according to my progress bar, put me at 1,200.
woo-hoo! I'm in the club!
then did another Tin Mage specifically to get Hacker badge, which netted me Master of Tin Mage as well, for a total of 1,202.
Still need about 35 more extra WSTs to get the last badge I can get though.

Quote:That was actually my exact plan for making a first run at it with FemFury tonight.I'm wondering if it could be done by a very strong melee character set to -1x1 with bosses and AVs on, and slotted with level shift making everything in the mission -2.
Yeah, fighting everything at -2 is maybe a bit cheating, but you have me both nervous and intrigued with your description so far. -
This thread makes me think of one bit from That Guy With the Glasses, the Zodmas series of videos. (General Zod rants and criticizes holiday things.)
roughly from memory:
General Zod: "These snowmen do not make good soldiers! They melt in the sun! It's like the sun is their Achilles' Heel or their... their..."
*long thinking pause*
Zod: "Nope. No other metaphor comes to mind." -

What? Conquering all of space and time just to get the Devs to listen to you?
I guess it's sort of classic supervillain motivation. "When I am Mistress of EVERYTHING, then they will HAVE to listen to me... They won't be able to ignore me THEN!" -
And yet it's an informative benchmark for long-time forum readers.
"The Devs are so busy, they aren't even able to give Arcanaville the time of day? Holy *bleep*, they must really be up to their armpits in stuff...." -
Quote:In other words, you'd be the Daniel Jackson of COH rednames. If I became a red name, I would be all "and what would you mere mortals like to entertain me with today, mu hu ha ha ha!" And then I would post "First after me, ha ha ha!" And then I would dare the mods to ban a red name by face-palming everyone. You wouldn't be *able* to shut me up.
Of course, I do have this other career I can fall back on.
You'd Ascend, promptly start breaking the rules of how to interact with mere mortals, and get busted out of your Ascended status, and everyone would realize you were more useful pre-Ascension anyway. You'd probably even bring back some residual knowledge from your brief time on the higher plane which you could put to good use later. -
I went with Spiritual on my main, FemFury.
The Recharge / Healing combo is nice for Dull Pain.
The Healing boosts are nice for Health and Physical Perfection, giving me a little more regen, which is where I can best boost survivability, since DEF and Resist are pretty much good enough.
Recharge gives me a little more Rage double-stack time. Also brings up big hit attacks like Footstomp and KO Blow more often.
And even the Stun is a nice little bonus for Jab if it goes off. -
Probably get a lot more writing done.

Hero / Villain Merits can only buy RARE recipes.
If a set has both Uncommon and Rare IOs in the set, you'll only see the Rare ones in the options for Alignment Merit purchases.
For high-demand Uncommons, either buy on market or make some rolls with Architect Tickets perhaps. HVAMerits don't cover the uncommmons. -
Quote:And at one point in the English language, both male and female children were called "girls", with male children being "nave-girls" and female children being "gay-girls".Fun fact:
Archaic terms for "Man" and "Woman" were "Werman" and "Wifman".
Back then "boy" meant "servant", as in "Fetch that for me, boy."
and just to add to the confusion of modern people, at the time male children were traditionally dressed in pink, and female children in blue.
(the fun things one learns watching comedy quiz shows hosted by Stephen Fry) -
My recollection was that the BBC would only let Davison have a role in HHGttG if he didn't look like himself, as they didn't want the confusion of "The Doctor" on this comedy Sci-Fi show. Thus, they found a role with a lot of makeup involved.

I throw my support in for whatever efforts the devs can make to allow for better looking muscular women in the game. Textures clearly being our best bet, of course.
In addition to such characters as She-Hulk, Titania, Thundra, Rampage, and even some renditions of Wonder Woman and Power Girl, there's a lot more comic book artists drawing a lot of female characters as "fit", rather than just "supermodel" in look. -
Quote:Doing your little part to fight inflation by destroying influence through marketing fees! Each set of ten had a total price of 1.5 bil. I had just put something else up for 150mil and didn't reset my price window. I put up pretty much a full set of market slots @ 10 x 150mil.
In all seriousness, my sympathies on that one. -
Typing as I play through:
Mission 1:
Like how the setup of the mission plays on the division between Warden and Crusader.
Mission 2:
hm. Praetorian Clockwork. Now beginning to regret that I didn't turn my difficulty for doing an exemped MA mission. Ah, well, I'm using FemFury, she *should* be tough enough even at level 24.
Oh, good. Researcher dialogue explains the acronym. Hee.
Like the Warden appropriate text when releasing researchers. Feeling pretty morally pure for Praetoria so far. (wonder if that will last)
Hm. Freed two researchers. Got the toy objective. Killed all clockwork on the map (confirmed by last two showing up in red on mini-map). Been through map several times, can't seem to find last objective. Some computer terminals that are "You Can't Complete This Objective Yet." when clicked.
Ah, finally found the triggering glowie. Now to run all the way to the other end of the map for the other stuff.
Three glowies all at back of map that need to be clicked to end mission, but only first one gives clue? Why do I have to click the other two if I get the needed info from the first one?
Mission 3:
Triggered patrols making for a little hacking drama to get the data.
hm. why no mediporting for him when I beat him?
Mission 4:
ah, Crusader persistence. A virtue at times when fighting against the state. but mostly an annoying stubbornness.
The contact dialogue and the accept text gives just enough sense of frustration to take the edge off the plot "going backwards" a bit
Helen's choice of out of town help makes things interesting, and ties in nicely to the developments later in the Praetorian plotlines.
hm. Defeat all. But.... plot justified. And not a bad map for it.
Clue confirms my suspicions about the motivation of that faction's involvement. Makes sense.
Mission 5:
liking the text for taking out the security computers
hm. how is he back? I thought no mediport in previous mission?
Pity we don't have access to signature Praetorian characters in MA yet. I think your idea of having IVY here would be cool.
And Xmas is saved... thanks to ME! Well, mostly... kinda... sorta.
Overall comments:
Took me a while, but that's my fault for leaving difficulty high when doing a lower-level MA arc. Racked in some good tickets though, because of that.
Solid story. Flows well. Fits very well into themes and mood of Praetoria. No canon violations.
And a good job of making a seasonally flavored story that doesn't get into silly or cheesy territory, or break the sense of connection to the game world as it stands.
Rated 5 stars in game for being well worth my time.
A good, well-crafted arc. Maybe not a huge "wow" factor, and there are other arcs by the architect-author that I like better. But it fits the season, and it definitely deserves more plays than it has. -
It was a fun TF. Electro and I had a great time being involved in this.
And I was happy having FemFury get all the Apex related badges in her first run. -
Quote:At last, his sinister plot is revealed!I was with a level 50 on lady greys taskforce who didn't know what a hold was
I blame you Dr. Aeon!!!!! :|
Architect Entertainment is clearly Dr. Aeon's mechanism for reducing the professionalism an competence of the higher level heroes!
Brilliant!
Wait, no, on second thought, that can't be a villainous plan, since it also makes more high level heroes than before, and high level villain rivals for him...
On third thought, that sounds EXACTLY like a Dr. Aeon plot. Brilliant at first, but with some "unexpected side effects" (i.e. Implications to the plan he didn't quite think through...) -
Quote:I remember reading somewhere that at least one friend of Lovecraft's recalled him pronouncing the "Ct" as a tongue-click in the style of a Kalahari Bushman. My partner is so convinced that it's pronounced "Thu-lu" that she corrects me every time I intimate the existence of a C.
Still, I consider it "Kah-thu-lu".
It should be noted that, unless I am mistaken, Lovecraft intended it to be unpronounceable, further underlining how "Beyond Humanity" the Mythos was.
Who knows if that is accurate though. For all we know, Lovecraft may have used variations of exotic pronounciations to throw people off. (Which would be kinda like a more intellectual version of how Meatloaf kept giving a different story of how he got his name with different interviews) -
The Dresden Files RPG is one of those that fits in the "worth reading even if you never get to play" category. I was utterly amused and entertained by the footnote commentaries from Billy, Harry, and Bob. Harry's wry indignation at seeing his life, trials, and tribulations expressed in RPG terms was often laugh-inducing.

You ask if Apocalypse's Superior damage is worth it.
With purple sets, generally it's the very high power Set Bonuses, and the fact that those set bonuses stay no matter what level you exemp down to (unlike other IOs)
The (Superior) rating on the enhancement is icing on the cake, of course. -
Suggestion: make it the 75 or 78 month vet reward to get these enhancements. So we can eventually get them on our characters made long, long before GR or this promotion were ever thought of.

Great idea, and wonderful resource!
I think I'll set myself the goal of playing all the arcs listed here on my main hero or main villain over the next month or two. Be a good way to see a lot of story content, maybe pick up a few tickets along the way.
Thanks for including both of my arcs on the list!
I've actually seen a spike in plays on "Escalation" in the last two days. Might just be because of this. (can't tell for sure, no feedback tells) -
Quote:This is pretty far afield from the original topic, but regarding "purging" old arcs, I think you could implement a much less drastic solution as follows:
* Create a new "freshness" classification for arcs. An arc can be "fresh" or "stale".
<snip>
This doesn't address the exp issues, but would address the clutter issues. Not sure if cleaning up the arc clutter is even on dev radar at this point (I'm sure there's a lot of bigger fish to fry), but thought I'd put this forward just in case.
So.... who do I have to bribe, and how much, to get the Devs to implement this. -
Quote:Almost done!My queue is now:
@FredrikSvanberg - Arena #390921 (V40-54)
---not accepting further submissions at this time---
So, do we throw PW a retirement party or something?
Maybe we can all get enough Clockwork Gear salvage together to get her a really interesting Gold Watch? -
Changes made to arc on 5/1/10:
-tweaked costume pieces on custom characters who had shields, to prevent them from being invalid.
-set all custom critters to use "Custom" power choices, tweaking some power choices. Custom enemy XP improved in all cases.
-changed map choice in Mission 5 to use more appropriate map that became available with Issue 17.
- used a "betray" option on one NPC ally that it is perfectly appropriate (and already foreshadowed in existing dialogue)
*** Planned future changes / improvements
- use increased memory available to add some variety to custom faction in Mission 4.
- tweak briefing in Mission 5 briefing to incorporate new map choice
- general pass over Mission 5 to optimize with new map. Possibly change some patrols to fixed bosses, review spawn placement, etc.
