I am looking forward to some of these alternate animations. I'm definitely going to check out how they feel in-game. I'm sure I'll be adding at least one punch to Shadowrush's attack chain. (I've been relying on the vet reward Sands of Mu to give him some punches.)
Can't wait for I-16. -

Super Strength and Martial Arts will each receive an alternate animation for their powers, and Stone Armor and Necromancy will include limited customization.

Customized MA animations? Could this mean punches?
I hoped for this, but never expected it to actually happen!
[/ QUOTE ]
Hehe same here. I was looking forward to the color customization, but when I saw this, my jaw dropped. My main character is Martial Arts, so I am very happy with this announcement. -
Just another update:
- Updated the arc to I-15 standards, when the new Issue was released.
- Added keywords. And set the Story Status to Final.
- Edited the description for Panda Knights, based on Forcefield power changes.
- Since Boss level custom critters no longer have the tier-9 melee attack, I have returned Panda Prime to Boss level.
Woohoo! Pandas vs. Rikti has reached 400+ votes. Thanks again to everyone that played, and for all the great feedback and comments. -
Hey Turg, thanks for setting this up.
I'll be available for Friday. Shadowrush needs that badge.
Afterwards, I can help with my alts, I have a character for each AT on the heroside, mostly level 30+, and one blaster at level 50. -
Well since the OP said just one, I'd have to go for my namesake and main character of course...
Shadowrush
Or
"Oh crap! It's Shadow-frikkin-rush!" is what some of the enemy villains would say. -
I'd like to sign up as well with Shadowrush. I've done many STF's with him and have done a couple of successful MoSTF runs as well (the first one from one of MrE's first few MoSTF runs).
But since you already have full three teams Luna, just put me under the waiting/alternate list. I'm just looking for something fun to do that night, oh and of course, merits. -
I enjoyed the LGTF run. It was a bit longer than usual, but was quite interesting and fun nonetheless. Yes, there were many deaths. I think a lot of it was because of failed stealth attempts due to the abundance of drones. And we were a bit disorganized and indecisive a few times on what we wanted to do.
But still it was fun, even with the deaths. Even Shadowrush wasn't immune and actually died once during this TF (in the Hamidon mission, friggin non-positional hamidon mito attacks >_<. He rarely dies anymore on regular teams, TF's and AV fights, so it was pretty humbling.
[ QUOTE ]
My approach at that point was to just go in and blast the generators (everone) until they went down. And it worked... then the whole team except Shadowrush died I think! What a spectacular and appropriate way to end the Task Force
[/ QUOTE ]
Hehe funny thing about that. On the generators, when everyone went for the generators on the left, I decided to have my hand in soloing the generators on the right. (I've always wanted to try) I was able to take out the two right generators on my own, then tried to head to the rest of the team as they took out the last generator on the left side, but they started faceplanting. They took out the last generator and most of the team died before I got to them. (I think there was another one that survived aside from Shadowrush.)
But for some weird reason... I kinda felt left out from the almost-team-wipe ending.Never before had I felt, I wish I had died with my team, as the TF Complete message appeared.
-
I had a good time last night on the TF. (Because of Rularuu Overseers that can cut through softcapped defense, I was expecting a death or two. I didn't die once, woohoo!) And to top it off, I got a Ragnarok purple drop, and when I used my merits for some random rolls I got a Numina unique.
Thanks Mr. E for another fun TF run!
An MoLRSF you say? Hmmm... I would like to join, but considering my main villain, a level 50 stalker, still hasn't even tried a normal LRSF, I don't think I should try an MoLRSF just yet. Not to mention, with Going Rogue heading our way, I may decide to just focus all my badge hunting on Shadowrush and have him get the villain badges instead. But of course, it might be fun though... hmmm... -

Indeed. I must say that's a very nice costume PowerStream. -
[ QUOTE ]
Really? I've run into about 30 pinoy in-game over the past few years, and there's a pretty sizeable group of Filipino artists on dA who've banded together and started making their own comics with Filipino superheroes called the Bayan Knights, and I'd say about a good two-thirds of them have made pinoy characters with the red/white/blue/gold costumes. Years ago, I figured if a Filipino superhero were to ever go "mainstream", they'd end up going with a flag costume and because of that I shied away from it. I did design one a year or so ago for Bayani's predecessor ( Lawin ) because I found a costume set that could really pull off four colors. Personally, I think Bayani's costume is just too good/iconic for him to change at this point given both the art I've collected of him and that the flag costume doesn't quite fit the character, who's more new school than old school. It's become my version of a throwback jersey for the most part.
[/ QUOTE ]
For the in-game stuff. That's most likely because we are on different servers, and I solo half the time. But yes, I am pretty sure I have not met every filipino on Freedom. I wasn't saying there weren't more, just that I never met them.
As for dA, I'm assuming you meant the deviantArt site? I don't have an account for that and I've never really checked around that site, so I wouldn't know anything about that.
But yes I do agree that basing a costume on the flag of once own country is somewhat of course, pretty generic. I just never bumped into someone with the same theme on Freedom. So relatively speaking, since I have yet to see anyone else flying around in another Philippine-flag themed costumed hero while I'm playing, I still consider him unique in that regard.
I didn't really create Bandila to be unique, even though he seems to have ended up being so. Your Bayani, I'm assuming is your main character, my Bandila is not, and I made him as one of my alts, and my own answer to having a character in the same vein as a generic Superman of sorts, opposite in style to my main character. If he was going to be my main, I would've gone a different route.
[ QUOTE ]
Bandila's look is pretty solid, though I think a white mask would be better than the current one, given the top.
[/ QUOTE ]
Funny story about that. That has crossed my mind over and over, throughout his minor costume adjustments throughout the years. I keep interchanging his mask from blue to white and vice versa.
And alas, his costume isn't totally finished either. The Philippine flag has 3 yellow stars. The two are the brooches on his cape, while the third is supposed to be his belt buckle. No belt buckle in the shape of a star. Oh... to have a star-shaped belt buckle. -

This looks perfect for one of my alts. I've had this guy since Shadowrush became level 50 in early 2006. He's a Filipino Peacebringer named Bandila. His name means "flag" in Filipino. So of course, his costume is inspired by the Philippine flag.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've been browsing dA and playing this game for years and I've noticed that there are so many Pinoy who've created heroes with costumes based on the Filipino flag. There's alot of country pride for the Philippines I guess. ^_^ I'm glad I snagged Bayani early and made him my own.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's the thing though. I've always thought Bandila is pretty unique actually, I have yet to see anyone in-game do a Philippine flag-based costume. I sometimes kinda hope to bump into some Filipino players on Freedom. Since I started playing, I've only met two other Filipino players on my server, outside of my brothers and a real-life friend. I don't really go looking around though.
I tend to miss things it seems. For example, even though I lurk the CoH forums almost everyday, I've actually only recently known of your existence, when you were doing those MA reviews. (It's probably because I rarely visit this art section.) And apparently, all this time, LadyJudgement is a filipina.Makes me wonder how many fellow Filipinos play this game. O_O
-
I have two alt characters that are blasters:
My Energy/Energy blaster will most likely have both her sets turned light blue, not the blue that Energy Blast currently has. I'm planning for it to be somewhere in between the default Energy Blast color and the white energy blasts of Legacy of Chain mobs.
And for my Archery/Energy... if arrows can be colored, I'm turning them light green. His Energy Manip will be yellow. -

Sign me up for the LGTF Luna. My main character, Shadowrush, is ready to kick some more Rikti butt!
-
I'd like to join as well E! I'll be using Shadowrush of course.

Woohoo! Pandas vs. Rikti won 3rd place in Projectionist's Mission Architect Contest!
There were 90+ entries. The Second and Third prize is a full action painting or small figurine of a CoH/CoV character of your choice.
The winners were announced here.
Here's a quote from Projectionist:

3rd place: Pandas vs. Rikti by Shadowrush (Arc ID: 68930)
The cuteness of this arc doesnt take away from the basic struggle between the two races. It is fun fighting from first to last mission and I got a real Star Wars feeling from it. Good, clean fun that leaves you grinning. And, yes, the Pandas should become a part of the game canon!
[/ QUOTE ]
Congrats to all the winners, and thanks to Projectionist for the contest! -
Congrats PoliceWoman and to all the winners!
Woohoo! Pandas vs. Rikti in 3rd place! I'm glad you liked it.
I'm really excited, since the 3rd prize is going to be Shadowrush's first art piece.

Just an update:
- Based on feedback from Hercules, I've edited some of the text that I could find (and the ones mentioned by Hercules), that needed some adjustments. Mostly punctuation and such (It's not one of my strengths, unfortunately). I went through every mission, clue and dialogue. Hopefully, I've caught them all. If anyone sees anymore punctuation errors, don't hesitate to point them out.
- I've also changed O'Ballord's name to Obahl'Ord (as well as any text mentioning the name), to help make it sound even more Rikti-ish. At the same time, it still contains the same hidden word when said quickly. >_>
- Corrected a spelling error in the souvenir.
- Added a sentence to the Mission 2 debriefing to further imply that Rottiar has not yet been told about the existence of the first Device (the one the contact is using).
That's about it. Oh and I'm happy to announce, Pandas vs. Rikti now has 302 votes! O_O Thank you so much to everyone that has played the arc.
Vicious_Circle, Sardan: Thank you for the comments! -

CSI: Paragon
I cannot be the only one who thought of this after seeing the i15 trailer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Nice. It didn't occur to me actually. But now... CSI:Miami's theme is stuck in my head. lol.
A little nitpick though, I think you're referring to the "Going Rogue" trailer, which is NOT Issue 15. Going Rogue is an Expansion, not an Issue update. -
Niviene: Thank you so much for posting the er... poster. Much appreciated.
Monkey_King: Thank you for the comments. I'm glad you and your brothers enjoyed it. Sounds like you played an older version of the arc. You may be pleased to know, I've lessened the ambushes on the final fight since then. -
Thank you for the feedback Hercules, much appreciated.
I'll like to address a few of them:
[ QUOTE ]
Now, for why I didnt give the 5th star:
- There was quite a bit of dialog throughout the arc that seemed awkward ... examples:
"Commander Rottier was pleased with your rescue."
That's nice, considering I rescued him. Sounds like someone rescued me.
"Only me and a few "....
" ... but to be sure we need to protect it."
Maybe you meant " ... but to be sure, we need to protect it."
Sounds like you're questioning whether or not it needs to be guarded.
There were quite a few examples like this throughout the arc. Missing commas or extraneous punctuation, and awkward phrasing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll see to checking these out and correcting them. Oddly enough, I... actually removed some commas because a friend of mine, and a feedback from someone, mentioned they weren't needed.
I'll do my best to see if I can find more. But considering I've proofread this arc so many times and didn't see these, it maybe unlikely that I'll realize something is awkwardly phrased, etc. You wouldn't happen to remember more of them, would you? It would make it easier to track them down.
[ QUOTE ]
Other feedback:
- The "Cleric/Monk" class in most fantasy rpgs is associated with healing. I was surprised when he pulled out the gun. I was expecting an empathy defender combination of some sort.
[/ QUOTE ]
The Panda Clerics, including Gemessner, do have Empathy. They are Empathy/Assult Rifle mobs. I decided to give them Assault Rifle (which, I know, Defenders do not have) as their secondary blast set. Like some in-game mobs, I decided not to be strict in following player AT powerset combinations. The gun was to help bring a bit more of the military theme into the mix, along with the Panda Operatives. Clerics with guns is also a subtle reference to a Christian Bale movie, Equilibrium. (Yes... if we had Dual Pistols, I would have given it to the Panda Clerics >_>
[ QUOTE ]
- Panda Prime should have been at least a boss? He spawned as a Lt., just like the other npcs. I was expecting some kind of heavily armored "Optimus Prime" type of character. Oh well.
[/ QUOTE ]
He originally was a boss, but after some feedback about the Allies in the end, their number, and overall balance, he was toned down. Although, story-wise, it would be better for him to be a boss, but many felt it was unnecessary. But I do admit, I'm always tempted to bring him back to being a boss.
lol. As for being like Optimus and being heavily armored... well... he is already the most armored panda in the arc. He is also at max height like the final boss. His personality and name are the only ones inspired by the popular leader of the autobots as a reference/in-joke of sorts. I still wanted an original character though, so I didn't want Panda Prime to be too much like him.
[ QUOTE ]
- I was wondering about the O'Bollard name, it doesn't sound very Panda'ish or Rikti'ish. Sounds Irish to me. He didnt look very Rikti either, maybe a few more subtle costume changes?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's actually "O'Ballord". It's very Rikti'ish. Try saying it a few times. The Rikti names I decided to use are basically based on words or phrases, much like U'Kon Gr'ai.
As for not looking very Rikti... I'm not sure what else to add. I roughly based his costume on Hro'Dtohz's armor mixed with a panda uniform. I also used an alien head and made it really long to try to mimic the effect of starting to become fully Rikti. I can't think of anymore ways to make him more Rikti looking with our available costume pieces. If anyone has any suggestions... that would be great.
[ QUOTE ]
- The Rikti don't know about the second device... So, I'm guessing Rottier didn't know about it? That doesn't seem likely, considering he was the last commander.
[/ QUOTE ]
Rottiar didn't know about it. As mentioned in the arc, the second device was only known by Panda Prime, Gemessner, and very few high officers. They were all killed except for Prime and Gemessner. Rottiar only recently became the last commander when you came into the story. The previous commander, before him, was killed before you arrived. Gemessner was planning to brief Rottiar about it, but you were immediately both sent to the arc's second mission before he had a chance to. Some of this info is written into the arc, and some are just implied. I didn't think the detail was important to the story as a whole to fully explain, and with text already filling up the page briefings and thinking that it would already be understood that he didn't know... I decided not to elaborate on it. I guess, I could find some space somewhere for it, to mention all of these.
Again, thank you for the feedback Hercules. I'm glad you enjoyed it. (^_^) -
Hehe you guys are great. Thank you for the comments.
Those are some cool pandas you guys have.

I'd like to submit an image ad for a story arc of mine. I have two links below. One is to a smaller version, fit for a column in the scoop, and a bigger version to where the link of the ad will go to.
Pandas vs. Rikti Poster Ad (Small, 350 width)
Pandas vs. Rikti Poster Ad (Big, 600 width) -
Hiya. Ever since I-14 and Mission Architect has been out, I've been busy making, testing, and editing arcs. And finally I've decided to make a poster for one of them.
The arc is called Pandas vs. Rikti. For its poster I was originally thinking of a complex poster with a lot of stuff happening in the background. But after a few tries, I kept ending up with something I wasn't happy with; it either didn't fit the arc's feel, or there was just too much going on.
So I decided to go with a cleaner more simpler looking poster, and go somewhat minimalistic. (Not to mention it was a lot easier to read the text >_>And it's also easier to read, in case I wish to shrink it as an ad.
Here's the link:
Pandas vs. Rikti Poster -
Well I've finally finished the poster for Pandas vs. Rikti. Here's a link to it:
Pandas vs. Rikti Poster
I decided to go for a more simplistic and clean approach to the poster. Took me a while of experimenting to figure out what I wanted to do. I originally had a really complex background but it didn't look right. I think it came out okay.
