  2. Yes, and yes, as long as you promote them to a rank that has permission to invite to the SG.
  3. It is indeed official. Richard is going to make tea. He's also contacted one Mister Hong to arrange a light repast following the successful (hopefully) conclusion of the mission. More on that later, I hope.

Well, there might be something about dimensional stabilisers, but the tea is the important bit.

I believe Arcanaville has proven, by the devs own calculations, that crashing nukes should all get a rather ridiculous damage scale increase, if they remain the way they are. I, for one, am all for it.
  5. Ageless Destiny is a Godsend to certain characters. For example, my main (Eng/Eng/Force blaster) (whom I solo with Barrier) becomes a nukefest on teams, because I run into spawns, Void Judgement, next spawn, Aim, Build Up, Nova, Ageless, cycle normal attacks for 2 minutes (if I need to), rinse and repeat. The kicker is that he's only got an 8 second downtime on Hasten.

Throw a Kin on the team, and it just gets worse (better?), because that nuke can be fired off as often as it cycles.
  6. Cardiac functions as an End Reduction enhancement. It has no impact on the crash from a nuke, though it makes the nuke require less End to fire.

Edit to add: Ageless Destiny, on the other hand, will bring your Endurance bar back up quite nicely after a nuke.
  7. Go to Badge Hunter and download the map pack.

You will have to register with the site to download.
  8. Oh, he's certainly aware! I told him at the time (since we were chatting on the phone as he was getting into the game) that he could lose access to the character at zero notice.
  9. The forums use the American dating convention of Month/Day/Year. It actually died in October.
  10. While this may be the intention, it's certainly not the outcome.

I have a friend who played for a couple of months after GR came out. He unlocked Kheldians, and made a Warshade.

After Freedom, he came back into the game briefly, and was able to use one of his two global character tokens to unlock and play his Warshade.
  11. To TonyV and all of the Titan team:

Thank you, for both your sterling work on the most useful City of Heroes fan sites available, and your effort and dedication to fixing what has gone wrong.

While I can't speak for all players, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart* that your work is appreciated by me more than you can possibly know.

You have my thanks for helping to make my time playing City of Heroes a joy for the last six years.

    Keep it up, good people.

  12. Wasn't too bad, the new trial was quite good fun.

For Banners, I firmly hold the position that there should be a consequence for not doing them. As an RPer, I attend one of the regular nightly meets on Union, and when the Banner event triggers in our zone, the majority of people (including me) do absolutely nothing. Why? Because in 20 minutes, the event will end, and nothing happens.

I think that not dealing with the Banners should trigger a guaranteed Zombie Apocalypse, which would give people a judgement call to make: try to deal with the banners, or face the consequences.
  13. Isn't it "++fwd"?

Also not at my compy to check it out, but that's the structure for auto-movement (such as ++up on toons with Super Jump, so you don't have to hold down the space bar).
  14. Your maths is slightly wrong in some respects, BC.

The first bit is fine (20 attacks, 45% Def, 1 will hit).

If you have 5% def, then 45% of the attacks will hit (9 of them) for 9,000.

So, a toon with Def 45% and 10% resist will take 900 damage, and a toon with 90% Resist and 5% def will take the same 900 damage, which is where the approximate equivalence of 1% Def to 2% Resist comes from.

Generally, Defense is easier to come by from set bonuses, which seems to be why many people are proponents of getting soft-capped Defense.

The point about layered protection is well said, though: would you rather a) not get hit (Defense); b) take less damage when you do get hit (Resistance); or c) recover quickly from the damage (max hp and regen)? Generally, avoiding being hit in the first place is safer.

I believe Arcanaville has previously stated that to maximise the layered protections, you should first aim for soft capped Defence (prevent damage), then get your Resistance as high as possible (minimise damage taken) and then increase your regen and/or max hp (recover from the damage quickly), if the toon is able. Ultimately, though, you should play to your toon's strengths.
  15. Surely Ghost Falcon meant "complements"? Unless we get a power that just spams "great job on Halloween 2011" emails to the whole dev team...

    First Ward

The portal in Talos is behind the Arena. The First Ward door is straight in front of you when you zone in.

Alternatively, go into Pocket D, and enter the main room, from Blue side, and turn left immediately. Follow the wall along (to the left of the ramp), and there's a portal there that leads to Studio 55 in Imperial City.

From there, use Underground Access A, then turn left, through the door, down the stairs, diagonal right across the room, along the tunnel, down the stairs, double back and the First Ward door is on your left.

    R.I.P. Muad_Dib

Didn't know him, except as a name I recognised on these forums, but anything that removes someone from this world is a sad time.

God bless you and keep you in eternal peace, Muad_Dib. My thoughts are with your family and friends.
  21. Any person who would care to receive one (and perhaps some people who wouldn't) will receive the following (please forgive me for the last minute nature of this - the invitation was a bit tricky to get right), to a party on Friday 28 October 2011, starting at 8.30 until everyone decides to leave.

Party will be held in my SG base on Union server, access should be easy to sort out.

  22. And don't get me started on how Rich (who left before Shanna, that night) feels about the whole thing. He's contemplating taking Tarvin on his personal brand of training course.
  23. Thanks for the new thread, Z!

Not a lot for me to recap, since you covered most of the salient points, though there was talk of Andrea Huntington's planned Halloween party (which I might be able to squeeze into an in-game event, if I'm able to put in the time to plan properly), which Richard is dreading.

(For the record, Andrea is not planning the sort of party that Rich hates, but he doesn't know that. If I decide to go ahead with an in-game party, everyone else will find out, somehow, but Rich should be kept in the dark.)
  24. Just to check - there have been at least two occasions where the file naming format of chat logs has changed since I've been playing the game. Make sure that when you look in the logs folder, you are sorting the files by date, not name.
