    Here

Yeaaah, all I got is a front shot, if you need back/side shots I'll get more.
  3. Shadeknight's Costume Contest Bonanza!
Hey there everyone! Shadeknight here again, with a big event coming up this weekend. I am giving away all 1bil+ that I hold on me. This will be done in the span of four hours, give or take. There will be four CCs, one for each of the four hours. Three of the four CCs will have themes while the last will be the 'overall' costume contest that will finish off the night of the CCs.

This will be done in Atlas, under the statue as per usual. I did not want to clog up the D with this, so villains? I apologize .
    COSTUME CONTESTS
    • First: Golden Age of Heroes (7PM CST / 8PM EST)
This means the heroes that were prominent in the golden age of comic book heroes. Take a look at the various styles of costumes from them and create your own, unique costume based on this!
    • Second: Silver Age of Heroes (8PM CST / 9PM EST)
This means the heroes that were prominent in the silver age of comic book heroes. Take a look at the various styles of costumes from them and create your own, unique costume based on this!
    • Third: Mystical (9PM CST / 10PM EST)
Wizard, Witches, Sorcerers, sorceresses, and more! Come with costumes ranging from the Dr. Fate type, to the Merlin type. If it is a magic based costume and has that origin in it? It can participate.
    • Fourth: Overall (No Theme) (10PM CST / 11PM EST)
This is a no theme costume contest to end the night! All sorts of costumes are welcomed!
  4. Usually fixes itself when you start the TF.
  5. I wish Virtue had something like this.
  6. Keep an eye out for Shadeknight in the respective zones for each TF, Trial, or other noted event.

Around 2pm CST I should be on to start with Sister Psyche. Each TF/SF will be split up with a 5 - 10 minute break on my end in between.
  7. It is, I am just doing these in the afternoon at random times.

the other one has also been reported to the team captains and leaders of his SG, as they're rather prestigious in that they're picky about their application process(my character got denied for not being tights+cape and HEROIIIIC)

so....I'm sure they don't want people tarnishing their reputation by playing trolling fratboys.

However...next time there's a public event and there are griefers(I mean if they're griefing via powers and NOT rpers, well....report them for harassment?)

but if it's RPers that crash it and have trolling personalities...just block them or move to a different location.
In before Heat or Voltium reply:

You reporting them will be laughed at. They weren't TROLLS, but more so just playing to their character's personality. You obviously got your knickers in a bunch.

And just to reiterate: The fratboy types didn't INVADE Nalrok AthZim's event. They PARTICIPATED. Just because popular opinion (in this thread at least) paints them as griefers doesn't mean they actually are.

No! Stay put! Let them join in!

Public RP events cannot be exclusive.
It was better off without the fratboys, but that is my opinion.

Or perhaps he had a bad experience and needs to go to more where the fratboy types (annoying as they are, they ARE a type of character) invade and throw the original intent of an RP event out the window.

I mean, is access to PD free for free players? I have no idea. If it is, that would at least be a start or a place to meet (and I'm not even a big PD roleplayer).

Although I'm all for letting new roleplayers work out their own way, I do think we should have some way of being accessible so that the community can be found. However, I haven't really had any good ideas without coming off as being too 'mentoring' and controlling as suggested. But I would like to do something to welcome new roleplayers to the RP community.
Pocket D is not locked to anything, so Freems will be able to access it.

To expand/differentiate up an idea, perhaps both servers could, every week or bi-weekly or whatever hold little meetings that could serve the purpose of vets answering questions. Lore wise or general RP questions. This, hopefully, would not push us towards 'Oh, you have to RP like this.' But rather give something like 'Hey, if you like it? Go give it a try!' (Yeah, that may just end up bad as some RPers know)
  12. On another note, I'll (hopefully) be working with Nalrok to produce more RP community together events. Just got real life and my Fall Madness on schedule to worry about atm, so heh.
  13. Oh, good point with the abuse.

..I'll go back to my corner now.
  14. For this, I really didn't have a time set in mind to start doing these, but it will probably be done in the afternoon.
  15. It could, if you stuck with me through the entire time of me doing the blueside stuff.
  16. As most of us know, Freedom is going to bring a influx of roleplayers, new to it and old to it but new to the game. Certain posts and threads had me thinking that we should do something about it. By that, I mean stand out and be prepared to help them. I know the Freems can't access the board, but what I'll be proposing doesn't have to be posted on these boards.

Much like there is/was a mentors program started by Stalemate from Protectors, I'd like to flesh an idea out about something similar, aimed towards roleplay. A 'program' / group of roleplayers that is there for the freems / future VIPs who have questions geared towards roleplay, such as hot spots and popular COH-related RP sites (Virtueverse/Unionverse) as well as possible groups to join as well as concept help. Hopefully that little ramble made sense.

Could even help to bring the community of roleplayers together more, hopefully.

Anywho, would anyone else be up for this or am I just digging myself a grave?

(The previous paragraph is not up for debate, so don't correct me. Demonstrative purposes only.)

I'm organizing an IC/OOC meet and greet this Saturday at 6PM PST/7PM MST/8PM CST/9PM EST.

    So here's the breakdown:

Things/concepts the meeting can do without:
    • Godmoding.
    • Characters that think they're part of the lore (Lord Recluse's son, the love child of Statesman and Ms. Liberty (ew), The Crey Doctor who worked on Synapse, etc.)
    • Generic Barskank Catgirls (obligatory catgirl joke complete).
    • A need to argue.
    • A bad attitude.
    • Netspeak.
    • Wangst.
    • Emo garbage.

    Additional Information:

I figure for the sake of thoroughness and the desires of each RPer, we can come with whatever toon we want to bring. We'll introduce ourselves OOC first, and then use our RP skillz to cobble together reasons for all of these multidimensional characters to meet in a place such as the Midnighter Club. Summons, a letter, a message rune, a premonition, you get the idea.

After the OOC and other pleasantries, players can feel free to swap to other characters. This allows attendees to show off their arsenal of RP characters at their own discretion. I know I'll be swapping quite a bit.

So that said, mark your calendars and please feel free to reply to this thread to confirm your attendance!
I'll be there, by the way.
  18. We're fine with Virtue and Union, just saying. We do NOT need three, especially the VIP one where it just seems like we don't like helping free players. Thats how -I- see it, at least. Freems could see it that way too.
  19. ...Three UnOff RP Servers?

    No thanks.

    Two is enough.

EDIT: To me, a RP VIP server is for those who feel elitist enough where they feel above playing amongst the new players and trying to help them, even in the RP regard. This is why I'll stay on Virtue.
  20. A hero can be anything, and the same goes for superheros. Its not a matter of how they look (so to speak), but how they use their powers / gifts / skills and for what purpose. Yes, spandex has been a prime part of superheroes, but to say that armor like the Ascencion Armor and Celestial Armor is not needed is close minded and imho, shows a lack of imagination. If you have the right concept and mind behind it, those pieces fit very well into the game.

By the logic I'm seeing of the haters, we'd have to remove 99% of the items from the Booster Packs and from the releases to be a 'right' Superhero game, something I figure that would kill the game.

This game has successfully done well on its own without having to limit people like the other game. The more options, the better you can do with them. Its a matter of using your imagination and what is given to you. The more that is given means more chances to go above and beyond with originality.

EDIT: On the spandex note. We have that. We have plenty of it, and the options for patterns and what we can add onto the spandex does not limit us. From what I have seen on CoHGuru, here, and around the game, I can assure you that those who like spandex heroes do a damn good job at it with what we got.

That said there are a few things I think would make the model even more of a success:

    Forum Access for All

Every F2P game I've ever tried allows read/write access to their forums. Why? Because they know getting involved with the community gets people to stick around, and people who stick around spend money.

The fear I suppose is gold spam getting posted. But go look at the forums for any given F2P title: how much spam do you see?

    Supergroup Memebership for Free Players

Getting involved with the community is very important in MMO retention, and retention is very important in F2P MMOs to get people to spend money. A free player who is allowed to join a Supergroup is much more likely to stick around, and therefore much more likely to spend money.

This also improves the game experience for VIP players as they have a larger pool of Supergroup mates to team up with.

    Consignment House Access for All

The more people involved in an economy, the better that economy is for all involved. By allowing free players access to the Consignment House, they get a better game experience and VIP players get a better game experience as well as the economy is improved by the participation of a larger pool of players.

Mission Architect Play Access for All

Though I agree Arc creation should be limited to VIP/Vet Premium players, the ability to play Mission Architect arcs improves the game experience for VIP players who create MA arcs as one of the biggest issues with MA is getting your arcs played. With more people able to play, VIP MA authors get a better experience than they otherwise would.

City of Heroes: Freedom is looking to be a great success, but with these changes I feel that it could be even more successful and improve the game experience for all involved.
The MA for all is a bad idea until the devs can nuke the fire farm that is currently up before Freedom's launch. We do NOT need free players getting their levels THAT fast or free. It is a bad way to get introduced to the game and leaves us with more 50s who don't know how to play. If the freems don't have access to the MA, the farms can be avoided until they can stuff down the current fave farm...or until the freem gets access by buying access.

And superheroes can be of all costume differences. Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Green Lantern, and more. A lot of them have the same style, yes, but there is still variety from each hero to the next. Even villains have variety. Dr. Doom, Galactus. Dr. Octopus, Kingpin, etc.

Putting the links and quoting Sam helped his point.
  23. Personally, I like variety. So what if we have all these options that sometimes aren't found in comic books? Oh fluffing well, we're supposed to be creative with the costume creator. There are tons of ways to make a typical comic book superhero, and then theres ways to make Thor types, Green Arrow types, etc.

Don't see the big deal about more armor and the wings, but then again I can't find myself hating I21 / Freedom either.

He did very well mean the Surviving Eight, I was watching the stream too. Also, one of the posters say 'They were once the Surviving Eight'. That alone tells us that it is a S8 member who will, in the end of this, bite it.
