Exactly what I was going to say, the fix is going in tomorrow so.. *shrug* Goodluck anyhow.
  2. =_=....Seriously...It was funny for a few minutes in the first thread over in Culture but...its not /that/ funny.

Do melee'ers *really* need mezz protection solo? Or would they just find it 'tough and annoying' like everyone else?
Well lets look at it from a historical perspective, in the context of CoH's.
In the early days of CoH's most of the time you could ONLY run a single toggle, this usually ment melee people had to choose between mez protection and any other protection. So...It was pretty fair in comparison to everyone else.

Fast forward abit and now you can have toggles stack, etc. My belief is that due to toggles dropping if you get mezzed ((non-combat ones do not anymore, so hardly a point.))
In this game Melee damage is FAR greater then ranged, if your toggles are down you will die as a melee'r in the latter game, again a generalization but you get my point.

As the game mechanics work now, toggles only get suppressed if you get mezzed, while not as bad as being dropped, you do lose a considerable amount of mitigation you may have from toggles.

Another thing to keep in mind is threat level. All Melee AT's have a MUCH higher threat level then the squishy ATs. This causes enemies to pay attention to those at's attacking them before others. In effect if melee'rs did not have mezz protection, they could not tank properly and would be faced with ALOT more mezzes then blasters/trollers/def/corr/etc.

Ranged AT's and others without mezz protection don't have it because they don't need it.
I survived quite well on my squishies, I learned how to handle mezzes, pull individual badies who would cause my problems, etc. Now I can use IO's to get high enough defense to pretty much null out the issue of mezzing in most cases.
((Carnies being a notable exception due to their mezzes being positionless, some others are like this but I do feel its a minority.))

Its just a matter of learning how the game works and finding a way around it. Everyone having mezz prot. would just make this fairly easy game even more trivial.

playing devils advocate but soft controls like slow and immob. and secondary buff/debuff effects do not really count as Mezzing powers.
  7. The simple answer is the devs feel, and honestly I have to agree with them, is that giving Ice the full range of colors would result in goofy looking gems so that is why they are limited.

For fire I really do not see what you are talking about, you can reach the full range of colors both bright and dark.
  8. Final score!
Derail goes to jwbullfrog with mechwarrior well done.
2 +Rep and 2 -rep breaks even. Nothing of value has been gained or lost. As usual.
  9. Today I realized how completely terrible this game is! I mean REALLY, what a complete failure!

First of all I got to make a fairly firm complaint about how much of my life this has stolen from me, I will NEVER get it back and I do not appreciate it. If that wasn't bad enough you guys had to add insult to injury by burning my life and making me pay to do it! How dare you. I will have you all know that I will complain untill I pay again next month! Here is my list of things that needs to be done!!!!

    1) Make the game boring! I cannot quit playing, its ruining my life and taking my money.

    2) Nerf. Everything. We are too strong, I am playing city of pedestrians right?

    3) Nobody is right and everybody is wrong!

    4) Getting that last xp to level 51 is taking forever.

    5) I want to play my WoW characters in CoH's why can't I import my lvl 85 rogue?
5b)Will my Rogue be able to go Rogue or would that cause a paradox too great for your pathetic developer noodle?

    6) Carp, pistol melee. Now.

    7) Death does not mean anything, auto-delete our characters if they die for any reason.

    8) My I Win button command I told I would receive when playing a fire/kin was not there.

9)Tooltips have no tips of tools. Fix this.

    10) You all need to get a -

Yo Nate, Im really happy for you Imma let you finish, but Uniquedragon had the best post OF ALL TIME!

This is a little work in progress for me, for right now I got the basic layout down along with the main idea of some rooms. Ill update this thread as more progress is made.
As of this post its at about 8 hours of work most of it messing around with differant ideas.
Images are pretty big so just use the links.

  11. This is important, i've noticed this as well and I would like some sort of dev response saying something one way or another.

Again it's not a bad set or i'll never kick a dark from a team I just think it's a "jack of all trades, master of none" when it comes to keep alive, which is fine when it's the only support in the team, but less effective than "specialized" supports for me since it's usually not a problem at all to find 2 or 3 support characters, one focused on buffing/keeping the team alive, and one focused on offense (typically a /kin or /rad).

Storm however, i have enough experience with it to know why i don't look for storms. Again i'll never kick them but i'll just wish they had something else in their powersets when i team them. I have a 50 fire/storm with a 500M build, had a 41 earth/storm, 50 storm/elec defender, and quite a few more in the low levels just because i love the visuals/thematics of the set. I've tried to like it as much as i could, trying from a soft capped build to perma-hasten recharge, i just can't find any use for those characters since there is always another hero doing a lot better on my character selection screen.

I actually feel bad when joining a tf with them, i know i could just bring a /kin and the tf would be twice as fast, or a bubbler and there would be no deaths at all, or my perma hasten/perma AB empath to make everyone happy, or even my ill/rad to make sure any AV will die fast.

As someone stated above, Storm shines for the "oh crap" moments. That's exactly what i tried to explain above before some posters jumped on me The whole point of having a support character in the team is to AVOID the "oh crap" moments, which is by far not what Storm is the best for. Else i would just invite tanks/scrappers/blaster and just have fun killing stuff.
:\ I think i've sat here for about 10 minutes trying to think of a decent response to your post. As far as storm goes I do not have enough experience playing one to really say anything about it.

    DM is another story obviously.
I think the main issue here is, as stated earlier by mod08, when a dark player is doing their job well you will not be able to tell they are doing anything at all. People just wont be dieing and mobs will go down abit faster then normal. I think this leads to people not really seeing the set for what it is doing.

I respect your opinion but I believe you are comparing apples and oranges. Chances are you do not like sets like DM and storm for the same reason I am bored to death when playing sets like Kinetics and other buffing sets.

/Dark is awesome. it can make everyone untouchable, it has Tar patch (which is all sorts of awesome) and enough controls to really make a difference (and with those from Nec/ it becomes fainly ludicrous)

/Dark isn't Kin, but it's one of the stronger sets I'd say.
:P While I am not a fan of Kinetics, I just don't like the high and mighty attitude kins have more often then not, I am willing to admit having both a dark and a Kin on a team is a very very nasty combo. All powerful (kin)? Indestructible(dark)? Oh yes. >_> Makes for some serious hurting.

Currently it's the 2nd most common set I play after rad, and I'm strongly considering trying to form an all dark super team (probably redside for a mix of corrupters and MMs). Dark does unbelievable things in SO's, and in a high recharge build is excellent for steamroller teams. I can't stress enough how highly I personally think of this power-set.

Storm is excellent as well, although extremely skill based. If you are a good stormy, it's the right answer for almost any situation. If you are a poor stormy it's always the wrong answer. Since I'm not confident enough of my skills yet (as a stormy) I tend to solo my /storm corrupter more than group and the chaos that ensues makes it more fun than 3 barrels of monkeys with Ritalin prescriptions.

These sets might not be everyone's barrel of advanced tea substitute. Dark is the antithesis of flashy, if a single Dark is on a team and they are doing their job well, it's likely that no one will notice. After all when everything is going smoothly and the mobs are dropping like rain who notices that their powers are hitting a bit harder and the foes aren't really doing anything other than missing and dieing. Dark doesn't necessarily save the team (although it has the tools if it needs), it prevents the situation from ever going southerly to begin with.

Storm on teams lives for the "Oh Shoot!" moments. It shines in the moments when things go wrong and it can unload 2 barrels of chaos loaded for bear. When those moments happen, and that master run is in danger you'll appreciate that stormy sitting in the back of the team that hasn't yet shown just what they can do.
Mod08 I hope you come to hero-con, I will give you a hug.

In it's current form I'd be embarrassed to stake a major claim in having a hand in MA. luck for me I don't haha. 16,048 man hours down the drain and counting...
    >.>... Or ...It could have been intended to be a story telling tool that you are capable of leveling in... At any rate the solution they have in now is basicly a bandaid, they have said so themselves, it will be revisted in the not so far off future.

The -toHit is basically superfluous at that point.

The level of -DR and -damage and they could apply from behind that defense would be pretty outrageous. Any non AV/GM foes would likely be in a state of perpetual fear.

It's not something I think really factors into the discussion of whether the sets are good or not, but it's an interesting think to think about.
The short answer: Because it would be too easy. 8 Dark/Darks would make ANY CHALLENGE in this game trivial. Assuming the 8 were level 50 you're talking about 8 fluffies to go along with the 8 players.
1 D3 Makes it easy mode for a team.
    # of D3's > 1 = Overkill.
The other short answer: If I was going with one AT it would be all corruptor Dark/Darks... :P

I think it would be fun to have all the flavors of dark just running around having a great ol' time.
  17. I am working on getting you a mids build of my defender build right now...

When it gets down to it you only need 30% defense, the rest can easily be made up with Debuffs from Miasma. You can use the extra slotting space to achieve higher damage/Recharge/acc/etc. In my case I like being totally invulnerable, even when dealing with say.... 8 man spawned groups of MALTA, filled with sappers and gunslingers. Nasty stuff there. However for most normal play, including AV killing that much mitigation is simply not needed.
  18. >o> Well. Actually just based on pure speculation of my part The Spies AT mentioned in the marketing survey might be a Neutral Epic AT. That would be neat.

  20. :\ Both my Corrupter and defender can out-tank any scrapper and the corruptor can out DPS most scrappers. Honestly...I have been lurking for forever and a day and I don't see any scrapper envy. They are talked about the most because they are the most commonly used AT and I beleive with the exception of Defenders they are the most Generally usable AT, meaning they can solo pretty well. All AT's redside are superior in that sense however.
  21. >o> So. How you guys feel about a all dark/dark Superteam? Scrappers tankers defenders? Or even since i16 is going live possibly tomorrow A full Superteam! one of each. Dark/Dark Scrapper,Stalker,Brute, tank, defender, corrupter,Mas termind, warshade (Negative en damage?) \o/ It would be soooo much win.
  22. Hey guys, just letting yall know im mostly back and wanted to offer something of a explanation.

Over the last month i've been working through some rough internal/external issues, for the most part are past now but it has really tore me up especially in terms of art and such. Its been very hard to find myself direction or inspiration or even the motivation to pick up a pencil and draw. It's messing with me quite a bit and really don't know what to do about it other then to try and shrug it off and jump back into things.

Anyway Ill try to post up some new neat stuff soon and maybe even catch up on requests. See ya guys soon.
