Quote:My problem is that outside of the fact that its a video game, there's no logical reason why any of those pieces would be restricted to solely to those factions. I have no problem with say the Carnival of Shadows mask requiring you beat up up their members to get as its a magical artifact that they produce themselves, but there's nothing, outside of game mechanics, stopping my characters from doing up their hair in the exact same style as Vanessa. This again.
I'm not for account wide costume unlocks for individual efforts. I do, as Hallowed stated, like the rewards mechanic... giving something other than IO Recipes and fodder for such.
That being said... any unlock given should be minor; course of regular play stuff (no ITF stuff (unless we're talking signature pieces)... no Vanguard Merit type stuff).
I'm all for dividing NPC costume pieces into things that can be bought (straight out or in recipe form); earned by defeating the NPC group the piece belongs to; Accomplishment/Achievement badges, as random drops (recipes; from any mob (but better if it comes from the appropriate mob)), etc. These can be done as stated or being dependent on the mob level and/or rank that the costume piece is associated with.
True... anyone can go get a sash from bargain mart plus (but really, you can't... or you'd have one already) but not everyone can get a actual Carnie sash straight from a Carnie's waist (or a KoA harness, Tsoo Sorcerer amigasa/tattoos, PPD helm, etc) fresh out the Acadmy (or out the Zig). Sure, background story might give reason why you might have access to one (or more; but not all (without being a hack of a roleplayer)) but that just doesn't fly or apply to 300k+ characters.
And that's what we're ultimately talking about, right... actual NPC costume parts? Not just some knock-off brand?
If we are talking about some cheap knock-offs though... then I guess having them at level 1 is okay. -
What exactly is so unique about a piece of cloth rapped around the hips that the only place you could logic ever get it is by beating up some one who already has it? They probably aren't making the fabric themselves so why can't I just go to their supplier?

Quote:I know its a bit nit picky, but we do actually have a Roman Gladius and as ugly as I find the Tech Sword to be, it does actually have energy blades.I can have an Egyptian sword from character creation, but I must unlock the Roman one, because... The Romans are better than the Egyptians? I can make a ninja character at when I join the game, but I have to wait a year to make a Saumrai character, because... Samurai are better than Ninja? I can have an Energy Shield at character creation, but I can't have an energy sword unless I buy it from Vanguard, because apparently energy swords are cool and energy shields are not.
The thing I don't get is there are 3 variations on the Samurai armor, why couldn't one of them have been put in the basic costume creator and the other 2 used as the vet reward? Baring the helmet base and kilt, there exists at least 2 variations of every piece of the roman armor (some of them we don't get yet), why couldn't we have gotten one set at creation and the other as an unlock? -
But that's what badges are for, that's all badges do. They tell others what bits of content we were capable of doing, there's no reason we need to have costume pieces to do that too.

Quote:Actually, Miss Liberty and Statesman formed freedom Corps, Ms. Liberty Formed LongbowThere talking about Miss Liberty, Ms. Liberty's mother. Shes the one who started Freedom Corps/Longbow not Ms. Liberty.
From the lore thread:
Quote:Question I've been questioned for legitimacy for inserting a Longbow ally into a mission for my story arc which takes place in November 2001, 6 months prior to the first Rikti War (#71601). My detractor claims that Longbow was created after the Rikti War, though my own research only says that the group was founded by Ms. Liberty to fight Arachnos (which has been around for a long long time, even before Recluse). I can find no reference to confirm either way. Is there a date or timeframe in continuity when Longbow was founded?
Answer: Longbow is a division of Freedom Corps and was introduced in City of Villains. It was Ms. Liberty’s solution to her disagreement with Statesman’s policies regarding Freedom Corps. Longbow is much more martial and aggressive in its methods. I recommend changing either the time frame of your arc *or* calling the ally a Freedom Corps agent. -
50s can't accumulate patrol XP, it will pay off XP debt you have when you log off but can't be saved as a buffer against debt.

Quote:For what I can tell, they could add weapons, such as wands shoulder cannons, etc, to non weapon sets but would need to do an overhaul of the Character Creator UI to allow you to customize said weapon.Quote:The problem with that is new code, not new animations. You are talking about adding a weapon to non-weapon powers, which will also require drawing that weapon. Adding that option may or may not be easily doable.
Adding customizeable weapons to power customization is another story. -
You can switch sides and get the Villain version, Invader. If you switch back you will be award both the Task Force Commander Badge and the hero version of the accolade power, same for any other accolade you have when side switching.

Quote:Wait, how is nearly getting killed on a mission the USAF asked him to take on "doing his own thing?"Statesman tells the Government he knows better, does his own thing during the cold war.
Quote:Ms. Liberty, tells the government and her grandfather that she knows better, forms Longbow, starts operations in RI. -
Quote:If you make an assumption that cause the world within the story to not make sense then you probably made the wrong assumption. We don't know the full wording of the Citizens Crime Fighting Acts and assuming it had no effect on foreign policy, and by extension international laws that followed them, is rather illogical. The game world is based on the real world with some specific changes (Superheroes, the Might makes Right act, Rikti War, etc) but generally you're supposed to assume that things are the same, aside from where you're specifically told they're different.

Mather Mayhem, out of character, is likely a repeat of Sister Psyche's theme of female relation name (Sister/Mother) combined with alliteration (SS/MM), just made a little darker. In character its suppose to be a combination of the nickname her trainers gave here (Little Miss Mayhem) and her current title (Mother).

Quote:from the Lore thread:Well, he could have been called "Statesman" too - there's not really any reason why he wouldn't have come up with that name on Praetorian Earth as well.
Quote:Question: Why is the CoH Earth considered Primal Earth?
Answer: Leading scientists of Primal Earth believe their world is a nexus of power with tendrils that connect it to many alternate Earths such as Shadow Earth and War Earth. They further postulate that it has more such connections than any alternate Earth and so it must be considered the focal point of those worlds.
As with any scientific theorem there are some who disagree, even within the Primal Earth scientific community. Beings who call those other Earths their home also tend to see their world as central. Tyrant, for example, often refers to Primal Earth simply as Statesmans World and any scientist trying to convince him otherwise would most likely find his employment terminated. -
Given that the previous ones are called Super Booster and the newer ones are Packs, plus the difference in price, pointing out that the newer ones have less in them seems rather silly to me seeing as they are clearly meant to have less.

Quote:If you go by theOcho's Announcement they were added to i19 after the leak, so bullet point one is a no.There is an imaginary negative forum-goer inside of my head (damn you) that is prodding my brain, wondering...
The two new emotes that were leaked and then revealed as I19 content...
- Did they really intend to give those out for Issue 19?
- Did they have two extras (Or make two more to get the 2 for each origin) and adjusted things to provide the snow and fireflies auras for free?
- Or are there more auras laying around, maybe held off for future releases, since they gave away two that may have been for the booster?
annoying imaginary negative forum-goer inside of my head wants to know!

I cant read the name in the article's title but the rest says his "song shows support for the troops in Gulf." Also, the other version of the image clearly has the Name of the paper erased, so it might be an actual article.

Quote:Leandro's Patch was designed for the previous version and wont work for the newest one. Here is one I did, based on his, which seems to work for most people that downloaded it.From earlier posts that will be released with I19. As I understand the Mids philsophy they release to match what is live in the game.
leadnro, (sp? sorry mate) with the voice the ladies love, released a patch for it that should work according to a post on the first page which has a link to the files I believe.
Oh, and great work guys. -
I didn't exactly create the code, I got it either on the forums or from city binder, I don't recall which. I modified it to remove functionality I knew I didn't want, primarily that it hid all the windows when teleporting, the rest got left simply due to the fact I had no reason to go back and change it. At any rate, thanks for the pointers, I've corrected them on my binds.

For those interested, I just tested this, and the following dynamic bind works as the OP wanted, plus pulls the camera back. just add in the complete path for where ever you stick the files.
tp_off
Code:tp_on1LSHIFT "+down$$powexectoggleon Hover$$powexecname Teleport$$camdist 200$$bindloadfilesilent tp_on1.txt" LSHIFT+LBUTTON "nop"
Code:LSHIFT "-down$$powexecunqueue$$Powexectoggleoff Hover$$camdist 20$$bindloadfilesilent tp_off.txt" LSHIFT+LBUTTON "+down$$bindloadfilesilent C:\cohkeybinds\teleport\tp\tp_on2.txt"
Code:LSHIFT+LBUTTON "-down$$powexecname Teleport$$bindloadfilesilent tp_on1.txt"
-
bind Shift "+$$powexecname hover"
bind lbutton+shift "powexecname teleport"
should get you close to that effect, minus the teleport reticule. -
Easiest way is to go into the User CP and change your Message Editor Interface setting to Enhanced Interface. Then just look for the button with a landscape, paste the URL int the diolog box that pops up and your good to go.
