We're sorry. CoX has encountered a problem and must shut down.
-
Your Mom just called. It's dinner time and you need to come up out of the basement for awhile.
-
Ok, That's 2 Steak Chalupas, 1 Beef Meximelt, Fire Sauce and extra napkins....$6.66 please pull around.
-
You look a little tired. Perhaps you should make some coffee.

I think this is absolutely fabulous news. Now, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the respec recipes (which were one of the last few things I got lucky on in an attempt to get "something" out of the market") are absolutely worthless.
While we're at it guys, let's sell Purple/IO Set enhancements, Salvages, Costume Tokens, and what the hell...Badges.
Then we can merge the markets in the "Recycle Bin".
Bitter, Psychotically Misguided, Unlucky, Resentful....Nah....I'll just go knock over the local liquor store. I'll be purpled out in no time, vs the 28.9 years it's gonna take the way the shake gets snoogered.
/obligatoryD00Msuxxitzpost.
Realistically, now that my accounts net worth has plumetted yet again I guess I'll pull the recipes for when I need em, save myself $300 real money and use that Real Money to....
...No, sorry, I'm not gonna waste $300 in response to an ingame email prmoisngi me u3br3 geer form <www.screwyou.rmt>
...pay rent, food, and other tangible needs.
Eventually, anyone with enough real money will be able to get everything they need or want in this game. Those loyalists who can barely afford the game will still be left behind. -
Costume Tokens are available as drops, or may be purchased through the markets from your fellow players.
Extra costume slots are available through the PlayNC Store. 10 Costume Slots for $4.99. Click on the Store Icon at the loading screen to purchase. Limit 10 additional costume slots per character. -
You can earn a Reusable* Character Respec Power by completing all of the following:
- All of the Signature TFs
- The 4th Respec Trial in Terra Volta
- Attaining a forum post count of 10,000 on the Official CoH/CoV Boards.
- Reaching a Badge Count of 600
(*Reusable is defined as unlimited uses. Although this power will grant a Character Respec when used, Player must wait 24 hours between power activations.) -
"You can unlock the Goodyear badge in Atlas Park by landing on the flying blimp and walking from front to rear. Goodyear will grant you a +15% to your base movement speed."
-
6-Slotting Hover is just as good as Fly.
-
"When playing your new hero, you must return to Ms. Liberty in Atlas Park for training, regardless of which Zone you are currently in until you reach a Security Level of 14. After this, you can unlock the other Zone Trainers by completing the n00blykins Task Force and receiving the PWNDn00b badge."

I realize that there are probably hundreds of tangents and threads related to bases, bugs, wishes, and whatnot. I Necro'd this thread for 1 simple reason. It was a link from the stickied Base Issues List, post-I12 thread. To me, it looked like the "officially sanctioned" place to address issues because the sticky refers us to it. If this was in fact incorrect, accept my apologies, along with a 100lb. bag of freshly baked Guardian Cookies.

I wish we could sell them for prestige.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, that was the hope.
To put this into perspective, here is a sampling of the groups I'm with:
Hero group 1: has 8 full Enhancement bins, 2 full inspiration bins.
Hero group 2: has 5 full Enhancement bins, 1 full inspiration bins.
Hero group 3: has 3 mostly full Enhancement bins, 1 full inspiration bin.
Villain group 1: has 5-6 full Enhancement bins, 2 full inspiration bins.
Villain group 2: has 1 almost full Enhancement bin, 2 mostly full inspiration bins.
That is a lot of enhancements, and inspirations that sit around doing nothing except withholding prestige.
The base could be set up so that after 60 days any enhancement gets sold, and after 90 days the inspirations get sold with all proceeds being returned to the group as extra prestige. Or let the leaders disable the selling if they choose to.
This way people could still donate to the group, yet prevent the bases getting cluttered with junk.

Ok, I actually agree with Snow here, with the following caveats.
1- Any item sold back actually gets a decent prestige bonus, unlike the ungodly face rake we get at the registrar with the 500:1 Inf->Pres exchange. I just cleaned my base today. I had just over 2 million in randon DO/SOs in 2 bins (about 180 enhc.). I don't want to get bent over by the base selling 2 full bins for some ridiculously stupid amount of prestige such as 200 pres. At that point I'd laugh at any future "We are the Devs. We care about our players." type of propaganda thrown around here.
2- This, as with all things SG Related, should always have the ability to be turned off.
Nightmare Scenario #1,983,377: (If IOs are in the list of what the Base sells off for prestige) You have 4 Hecatomb (120 +/- mil Inf), 6 Numina Uniques (200+/- mil Inf), 5 LotG +7.5s (350+/- mil Inf), and say about 20 various pieces you really need. Now, lets say you are 1/2 way done with aquiring the sets you need for a characters "Uber Build". It's taken you 6 solid months of gaming 4 days/wk, 12-20 hours/day to get this far. All of a sudden you log in and your stuff that's been sitting there has been "Auto-Sold" for 200 prestige. Would you personally look into buying a plane ticket, or would you just load your revolver and give up your mortal coil?
Ok, Doomsday aside. As long as I can turn off the sell part if I want, and the prestige I get in trade is decent (read actually useful...say even value of the selling price in inf of a said item) then Hell Yeah! -
Fantastico!
A Hearty Gratz to You!!

I think that's missing the point - would it really be so hard to email people ingame in advance to notify of non-maintaince schedules? I don't think so.
[/ QUOTE ]And I doubt people would pay attention to it to begin with. I check my email almost every other day.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't usually check my ingame email more than once a week or so. All that's gonna be there is the Spam crap that shows the RMTers have gotten around the Temp Account bans.
Come to think of it....I think I've only had 20 ingame emails from legitimate sources in the past 3 years.
We either communicate via the Manor, or through other established methods. -

I don't use voice chat currently. More options always sounds good. I just wonder what effect this might have on game performance/lag.
[/ QUOTE ]
This game is a huge resource hog, so I'm curious as well.
I've had limited, albeit horrendous, experiences with Chatties. I can't stand to be on a team that *ignores* each other or gets uppity about people who don't have chat. I have been on Chattie teams where we are almost done with the mish and I've been kicked because no one *heard* me. I typed out in chat, but they weren't paying attention. Afterwards I get a tell saying "<Expletive Blah Blah for ignoring us and not following what we said on Vent <expletive> <racial slur> etc.... lrn2play..blah blah."
I am not a fast typer, but have improved my speed to an acceptable level through playing this game. I am perfectly content with the current typing. Have I thought about VoiceChat? Oh Gawds Yes! It would make things a little easier/faster as I'm not only slower while typing, but very dislexic. I still have the same issue as I've always had, preventing me from voice. My computer simply cannot handle running Chat and the Game because of the, imo, extremely high resource hogging, memory leak, and strain.
Am I Neo-Nazi about Anti-Chat...no. I'm just skeptical. If it turns out that we can all get along and run this with the game, I may give it a shot here and there with close friends, but still type in the old chatbox when we have a voiceless teammate. -
I'll add my $0.02 now and say Well Done!
I'll add my $19.97 when I12 goes live....again...and again...and again....until either my bankroll screeches to a halt, or 36 slots. -

This is why BAB has such a cult following. He's always in here, day and odd hours at night. with his open communication style.
I agree with the theme of appreciation and understanding in this thread. I look to the road ahead with eager excitement.
Edit: Never thought I'd say this, but this BAB we're talking about here.
First Post After BAB!! -
The original "Scratch n Pray" cards were a PITA. Having used several timecards in the past, I am glad to know of this improvement. I use my credit card now, but occasionally still need a timecard. It makes a great gift for friends who play. (yeah, cheesy, but it's true.)

I hope this is in the in-game GMOTD as well. Not everybody who plays visits the forums.

Not only was it in-game, it popped up live while I was in the middle of a mission. Twice. Which was mildly amusing.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. Maria Jenkins Arc, Mother Mayhem/Malaise in the Asylum. As we were fighting Malaise, it popped up and we had a team wipe. Then a few minutes later it happened again. Mother Mayhem team wipe. (I swear I saw MM punch up /em laptop and hit /gmotdPesky AI is in cahoots!)
Considering how hard it is to get debt in this new and smoothed patch, I found it refreshing. I now stand a chance of getting a whiff of those famous Epic Debt Badges. For the hell of it, I killed off and debt capped all my characters this week. We have a running pool on who gets a badge first...

I have to say I am very impressed with what the Devs are doing for ridding us of these spammers. I use /ignore_spammer <name> and broadcast in my channels when we have a problem with one. Since the email solution went into effect, I'm not getting 30 a day per character. /Tells have drastically reduced. I still get a few here and there, but it's not every 3 minutes, 10-50 at a time anymore. At one point, I was solo and completely hidden because I couldn't team. When I was on a team, I couldn't follow the chat because spam was scrolling it too fast.
Thank You! -

My own comments.
I'm a relative newcomer to the CoX universe (July 2007) and since my arrival I have been very impressed with the way this MMO has been handled. I haven't gotten any of my heroes or villians to a level 50 yet, but It's been a blast so far, and I am really looking forward to whatever changes are coming!

Welcome to the Game!
Now, My shields are tweaking and I sense a darkened force at work here. Yes Folks, Placate is in effect. Afterall, it is an election year and we need to keep everyone strung along.
I've said it a thousand times. If the new management falls into a good groove and we benefit...Great! If not, then we will continue the long slide to mediocrity.
My #1 on the wishlist is to fix (As in Repair..NOT Nerf) some of the problemsa we've been having for nearly 4 years.

Well now that the dust is settling and the hangovers are in full swing, let's recap.
Wedding Entry: So we have a mob mentality, Super Powered Crowd Control, and a lucky ckick here and there. Yeah.
We could debate all of the different ways that the Entry could have been made smoother. Some suggestions, such as an entry fee, special salvages and what not could be countered with "What about the players who don't have Pimped out accounts with billions of inf.?" Or we can take it one step further and say " <Insert any solution>/<insert any counterpoint>" The masses will never be fully satisfied.
All in all, it was luck of the draw and survival of the fittest. I was fortunate enough to have had that "1 lucky click" Was I frustrated by all of the people who were mobbing the ushers and using all kinds of AoEs and auras....yes. Did it inspire my competitive nature to beat the odds...yes.
The Wedding Ceremony: A beautiful ceremony. Well scripted and heart warming to see the commitment of these two treasured members of our Development Team. If their commitment to each other is a barometer of the Development Team's commitment to us, we are truly in good hands.
Lord Recluse and gang showing up for a finale....predicted by me at the posting of the announcement and extremely welcomed. I was so glad I was right about this because it made the event turn into a blast. If it had just been a full on heartstring pull, it may not have been as satisfying.
Overall: Awesome Job!
I would love to see this scripted into an instanced event on the Live Servers as a recurring event. Say an Ourobouros Lvl 50 Arc?
Thanks for putting on a great show!
(Well the Valentine's Event is Live and my alts are screaming for their shinies. I must obey the voices in my head and go feed my Badgers.) -
GvE Ingame Item Serial Code: Includes exclusive in-game bonus items!
Jump Jet Prestige Power
Pocket D VIP Card Teleport Power
Exclusive Hero and Villain Costumes
Price: $9.99
Wow, That was one of the best $9.99 x"Insert number of accounts I have <here>" I have spent in a long time. The usefulness of the Jumppack alone is immeasurable to my lowbies, not to mention the convenience of Pocket D TP during Events.
Now we come to Wedding Pack?!?
Ok, Let me get this straight. You want me to spend $9.99 per account for what? A few emotes and a couple costume options?
[---- A Huge Rant has been deleted before I go off like a nuclear bomb and say more than I'd really like to.----]
Suffice it to say that I will reluctantly coerce my bank into supplying the funds for my accounts just to keep my accounts with options that arrive. Yes, I actually see validity in the items, it's just beyond me that they would charge. The only thing I can deduce from Lighthouse's statement is that perhaps it took some overtime pay to do it outside the "schedule". I'll justify it in my mind that way and we'll all look the other way as my account's completeness is satiated.
[---- If you think the above paragraph was bad, imagine if my keyboard lacked a [Backspace] ----]
[I'm gonna call it now. Wedding Pack Emotes will be screwed over and nerfed. They will become limited to obscure and useless areas after 50k subscribers whine and complain about being annoyed by these emotes. When they do, I want all of my money back. 02-12-08 6:55pm EST /signedinblood] -
Owning a G-15 v1 (18 G-Keys), I found some resources for G-15 Overlays. An Overlay is a paper cutout template with fancy graphics. It has spaces to write a note as to what the G-Key is for.
Ex.
[G1:Super Speed][G2:Toggles On][G3:PANIC*]
G-15 v1 Overlays (CoH/CoV will be about halfway down the first page.)
Pay attention to the printing instructions or it won't fit. I also recommend printing out 3 copies, 1 for each Mode setting (M1, M2, M3)
The v2 (6 G-Keys) does not have any completed Overlays as of this post for CoH/CoV, but you can request them.
*Panic is a bind I used on Shadow that activated "Fly+UP+Forward". Great for those quick escapes when you're in over your head in a zone or outdoor map.
