  1. Finishing Power customisation is massively important to me, it _constantly_ annoys me that thematically similar powersets can't be visually similar (like fire/fire/fire blasters for example) IMHO the critical ones are:

    Power Pools
    APPs
    PPPs

    In that order. I don't _care_ that code time and UI time are needed it should be a _trivial_ amount of code time (Yes write I software for a living) I love my Khelds and VEATs but don't have any need to alter their powers, they look fine and consistent as they are. Just think how much more popular path animation would be if they could be used as alternate PFX for superspeed or super jump. Imagine if the auras could be used as replacement PFX for teleport. This is stuff you can sell!
  2. I've been complaining about the LOD being busted in new zones since the GR beta but I want to raise this one bit specifically because it's driving me _mad_ now it's all over Atlas as well

    The LOD transition for the new Praetorian trees (used in the new AP) goes like this:

    Sprite tree
    Geometry trunk pops in
    Sprite tree disappears (the leafy bulk of the tree disappears)
    Geometry for the foliage pops in

    This results in the trees flashing every time you pass a LOD level and it's _hugely_ distracting

  4. I'm torn between a Psy/Time Corruptor or a Time/Psy Defender. Anyone playing [/]time[/] have any thoughts on the subject?
  5. I kept my beta client updated and then copied the piggs/exes/dlls over to my live install, after 5 mins of verifying it was all ready.

    Considering this is a head-start we really are still in pre-release hence the lack of pre-load.

    Zwil posted earlier that they won't and are _not_ doing this. That is the whole point, if they aren't doing this they don't need carte blanch legalese saying they can.

  8. Here are some of the things I posted as soon a Keyes started:
    • Make the disintegration FX _much_ bigger like a big sprite ring with a vertical spike to give people a chance to notice. Also its a signature power, it deserves to look impressive.
    • Set up a "no other special abilities" flag or self-buff power that fires at the start of Disintegration and Obliteration beam that last for the duration of the power to prevent them overlapping with each other and with the time-freeze, when these overlap you get potentially unavoidable deaths which is not fun at all
    • Put FX on the terminals, blue aura when uncharged, red when locked, have the blue stack x3 with uncharged so that one layer is removed per charge
    • Make the Gamma pulse FX fade in and out a little slower, there have been time I've blinked and missed it not realising that my heath is now <50%
    • Make Anti-Matters regeneration either pause a little before it starts or ramp up (then level off) to give people time to scramble over there
    • I'd scrap the entanglement schtick, it penalises Melee too much (Oh just thought, alternate option: if there was something other than AM that the players could wail on that would help in the battle, like if the regen terminals could be pre-damaged a bit (before the timestops happened), that would give one of the entanglement halves something to do rather than just move away from their opposites)

    Where does our game lay?

    In my opinion, the damage indicates around Spider-Man's level of strength for Tankers, and getting close to mid level for Brutes.

    Some of SS's attacks TRY for a mid-high tier feel like Foot Stomp and Hand Clap, but the damage just isn't there to support it. Look at how much effort it takes just to destroy a car. Or when you can't even knock over a Malta boss, who's just a normal guy in a blue cowboy hat. Or how much damage you deal compared to a teammate brandishing a wooden baseball bat. And when's the last time you knocked someone through a wall? Or picked up a truck?

    In the MSHRPG the player range for Strength was up to "Monstrous" Spider-man had "Incredible" strength, Luke Cage was "Amazing" Iron-man, The Thing, and Colossus were all at "Monstrous"

    Cap had "Remarkable" strength.

    Though Colossus seems to have been buffed at some point as he's now showing "Unearthly" strength parallel to Thor.

    Hulk started at "Monstrous" and shifted up as he got angry, to a max of "Shift-Z" (ouch)

    I used to love the MSHRPG stat ranks:

    Feeble, Poor, Typical, Good, Excellent, Remarkable, Incredible, Amazing, Monstrous, Unearthly, Shift X, Shift Y, Shift Z, Class 1000, Class 3000, Class 5000, Beyond.

    Yes there was a column on the chart for "Beyond"

  16. Thanks for putting the skirt on all of the different models, and I hadn't seen the shorter skirt (guess thats new?) and blanking out the faces on the minions was really needed.

    Funny, given that almost all these pieces existed before the anti-revamp flared up. All it took was a little shuffling around of existing pieces.

Zack Snyder has even said in interviews that he was strongly inspired by Brazil while making Sucker Punch. Sadly this inspiration lead to a movie that wasn't even a fraction as good.
    Shame, to each their own I suppose. Though there seem to be plenty of people here who didn't seem to understand that. I have to ask though, US or UK edit of Brazil because the US edit was _awful_
  20. I loved it, I thought it was terrifying. The story of a girl so thoroughly abused even her mad-escape-world is dark and corrupt, even the person she imagines herself to be can't handle her imaginary world and breaks down into fantasy so wild and epic that only the allegories make sense.

    If the "battle scenes" had been David-Lynch-esq weirdness instead of overblown-rocketfuel-action I think a lot more people would have "got" it.

    Did people realise "the dance" was her getting craped (without the c), hence the 2nd level break each time?

    Alternate (smaller) shoulderpads look good.
    The tall-hat-thing looks good
    The massive-spiky-skirt looks a little much but does go some way towards restoring the "robe-y" feel

    But the undersuit still looks... too spandex-y, skipping the skirt on the Lt's, not having the face blacked out on the minions and finally not having the minions in robes were all mistakes IMHO.

Even the tunnels connecting the zones would get some use, hell, even the roads would get some proper use for once!

    Just make it a jet-bike, then it's perfectly fine for it to strafe/fly/go indoors. And if people want to cruse at street level and stay on the roads then they can and and still feel like a boss.

    Hell, I'd love to see a rolling dismount animation that could segue straight into an attack without the ready-stance-pause.... I'll bet you could do that with a second power that auto-switched off the movement power (Like the way Ninja run detoggles movement powers) and switched on a rolling movement power (rolling animation needed) that would be auto disabled with any attack (detoggle on attack, like "Shadowy Presence"). Oh you could give the rolling entrance a slight damage buff (and appropriate cool-down, and limit the rolling to a max of 3-sec say) and sell it separately... I'd buy that.

    Scream up to a mob of villains on your rocket-chopper, rolling dismount into the centre of the mob and fire off a PBAOE (like "Hail of Bullets")

    Yeah but being on a Praetorian map will crash to desktop my (no un-beefy, nvidia-based) machine generally once per trial or every hour-ish is the open-areas of Praetoria. Quicker if I switch on Ambient Occlusion. This has persisted since the GR beta (and, judging by the drop-in-outs in the trials it affects plenty you others) and sah been reported a _lot_ (there are almost never crash dumps)

    I have no issues Anywhere else in the game.

    Choppy framerate I can handle but I don't currently trust the GFX programming team.

    You already have a "sit on bike" pose (the bruiser uses it) it shouldn't need much tweaking for the female/male rigs. A rocket bike could hover and strafe and you could do a cool in-out of "stealth" thing when it's toggled/detoggled.

    Use the same all-powers-off effect from walk to stop people trying to use it in combat and to remove the need for sitting-while-using-powers animations.

    _Many_ of my natural characters would love this, I will give you money for this!

    I do like:
    • Ghost Widow, The design, colour and especially the hair all just _work_ (though all the widows could do with updating to make their _coats_ look less like "butt capes")
    • Statesman It's the cape (The shoulder ruffle) and the faceplate that make him, the rest is so-so but the bundled cape and the Hellenic faceplate really _make_ him who he is.
    • Sister Solaris The modern Sister Psyche could do with taking some queues from her historic duplicate
    • Sirocco Fantastic silhouette, though he's so slight he tends to disappear in combat, could do with more iconic and "bigger" animations.
    • Lanaruu/Ruladak/Ruularu Please, please use the Ruularu model somewhere, it's _fantastic_ It's Galactus but _better_. The lack of use of the shadow shard is _criminal_
    • Romulus Augustus/Nictus Romulus Yeah, perfect, unique silhouette, Nictus Aura really makes him stand out. The bulk helps identify him.

    I don't like:
    • Siege (and to a lesser extent Nightstar) The overall designs are great _but_ there should be notable differences in silhouette between a signature AV's and any mass-produced minions. I would have changed his shoulders, upper-arms and head, something to show his intellect (like an actual face).
    • Positron His armour has always looked boring and generic I get no feel who he is supposed to be, other than the colour I'd lose him in a batch of Crey suits. but it's pretty much a fixture now.
    • Countess Crey Awful, just terrible, theme, design and mechanical execution, She look like a streetwalker not a Countess.
    • Manticore Needs Moar Batman! Seriously for a "natural" Hero he needs less spandex and more armour, like maybe the Exoproto normal-map.
    • Black Swan Too generic, to different compared to Swan. The colour-swap version was better then the current rush-job
    • Belladonna Vertano She's ok but suffers from "Not unique enough" I think that if her outfit deviated in colour from the resistance norms it might be better... perhaps black and glowing blue? Also there is something very _wrong_ with the mesh for her face, it looks stuck-on and deforms oddly when you look to the side of it, she does not look attractive.
    • Regent Korol All the tarantulas look _fantastic_ but Korol's "eye crown" really doesn't say "Regent" to me, I'd go for some gold detailing, and more cabling, make it really look like she is packed to the gills with sensor equipment. Maybe have her legs visible like the queens but have yet more sensor cables burrowing into her flesh (This might also give here a more unique silhouette)

    But that aside. I don't really remember the visuals for most of the Signature character here's why:
    • They often fly (or move quickly) and move so erratically that the only visual impression you get is of a Ferret on speed with ADHD
    • They are often using the same animations as everyone else hence their unique silhouette gets lost.
    • The often have power effect that totally obscure their visuals
    • Players are using powers that totally obscure their visuals

    I know we need visual indicators, but I think we need more halo's and less whole-body-glow-type powers. Perhaps AV's could get some periodic repel bursts and/or debuf-clear/detoggle-pulses so that we can actually _see_ them.
