Cryonic is actually my favorite visually. Once you get to tier 4 it's really a great power.

Quote:Why would account rewards worry you? That comment needs explanation.Count me as someone not particularly happy about having to grind incarnate content to unlock new costume pieces, auras, costume change emotes and account rewards.
It smacks a bit to much of the elite stuff you get as drops in other games and the primary reason I don't play most other games.
And the nebulous "account rewards" mention worries me. The cosmetic stuff is one thing but this implies something else entirely.
Edit: The reason I'm not a fan of this sort of thing is that it makes me not want to level my lowbies. I don't like constantly having to do stuff on the same characters to unlock it. Vanguard merits at least drop during normal content play in the RWZ and you can get more then enough to get all of those costume items in a single MS raid.
Astral and Empyrean merits don't exactly flow like vanguard merits do. -
I also would like to state that I would not bring CoH into F2P. No model has presented itself which benefits longtime, loyal players. F2P models lead the dev team to develop junk content to sell (ie. limited use items) via microtransactions. I would point to real examples, but that would violate forum rules.
Personally, I think the current model is the best for the game at this moment: subs + cosmetic microtransactions + service fees (slots, etc.). CoH is an old game, and I understand that it needs to supplement it's income. I am happy to do my part. Personally, if they should do anything, they should expand the services to allow more character slots per server (more than 36) and add the option to purchase additional account-wide costume slots.
Additionally, I would enjoy for NCsoft to eventually have a "station pass" type option in the future, especially if it included a stipend for the Guild Wars games, but their pay to play lineup isn't as broad as necessary for this sort of option yet. -

My guess is that we will be back to the lag we had before the most recent patch but that the lag is still a work in progress.

Quote:3- What will happen if my European account name is the same as someone else’s in North America?
We wanted to keep this process as simple and manageable as possible to allow European and North American accounts to access all City of Heroes servers. All European accounts with a name conflicting with a North American account will be prepended with an “EU”. For instance, let’s take a hypothetical European account called “Cityof”. Pre-pended with “EU” would make it “EUCityof”. That is the only change to account names in that respect. We determined that this was the lowest number of users that would be affected by this account name change. North American accounts with conflicting names won’t be affected by this change. -
Quote:This thread is about account names. Everyone is getting a global rename token and the trial account is being reactivated at the same time.*sigh*
No. As I said before, it's because of my global handle, which will be forcibly changed as a result of a clash with my inactive US trial account.
Yes, I could pay to reactivate it - or wait for the free reactivation after my handle has already been changed - and change my global name there, assuming I even have a free rename on it. Only problem is that I either have to pay money and/or waste a global rename to set my "EU" handle back to what it should be.
Point being, all this stupidity could be avoided if they'd just delete my bloody trial account (which they could still do, my support ticket is still open). -
Quote:How are you screwed over or penalized? Because you have to type different words (that no one ever sees) into two boxes on the internet. If you're going to make an executive decision as a dev to screw me over because of my own trial account, attached to the same NCSoft master account, and not allow me to do anything about it, then I reserve the right to get wound up about it.
I understand why they chose to "penalise" the EU players rather than the US ones (simple numbers) and that doing it on an individual basis is impractical (numbers again), but at least give us a chance to avoid these problems where it's easy to do so. -
You can't rename old/trial accounts to Trial###### because then a returning playing would never be able to log into it. It is also probably policy not to delete any account for any reason (probably even your own active, confirmed account).
All in all, it is just the thing you type into a box to get into a game.
I sympathize with the EU community on a lot of the hassles they deal with (esp. maintenance times and formerly server restrictions) but account name is pure fluff. First world problems indeed. -
Could the new lag simply be the increased number of MMs playing on the BAF trial? ie. not a new bug, just a circumstantial connection with the last patch?
Either way, something needs to be done sooner rather than later. Until then, its 16 person BAFs for me. -

A steampunk crab backpack would be amazing (not that we should expect such a thing, the booster seems like it is basically ready and waiting).

Great website! You should do more through RPS and PCGamer.com.
I would prefer never to have to visit tentonhammer.com again, if possible.
Thanks! -
Yeah, pretty sure that is wrong. I kinda wondered if the XP number was off as well. Per paragon wiki a single level 50 has 39,149,119 cumulative xp. If I am mathing it right, that would be the equivalent of only about 400 level 50 characters.

Yeah, this is a problem. Is it only going on on Pinnacle?

Quote:If anecdotal statements are true, I agree.Agreed. I would not, however, expect the 10 Threads reward to be popping up so much.
I haven't gotten 10 threads yet (including many runs as a storm/ defender, sonic/ defender, dark melee tank), so I can't speak from experience. I haven't played with the new patch yet though, so maybe I will end up getting some tonight. -
Quote:Common is supposed to be more common after the patch than it was (thankfully!). Uncommon was scaled back. Your results are to be expected. In the hundreds (at least it seems like it, possible exaggeration) of trials I've ran prior to the new patch, I've only ever had the Common option once. I ran two Lambdas back to back this morning and received Common on both.
Not being a Doomsayer, just found it kind of odd. -
Game Design doesn't want players saving up materials for future slots. The next 4 slots will probably have their own currency. They don't want people to save up materials on current content and immediately make upgrades when new slots come out. There may be some transferability, but probably on par with shard to thread conversions (where 1/5 of the value is lost).
My guess is that we will hear something soon on future applications though. I think we get a state of the game address around the anniversary. I could be wrong though. -
The cone for Cryonic is pretty massive when you get to tier 4. So far, I prefer it to Pyronic.
There was some talk that if you have the +damage alpha slot, that it might affect judgement powers. I never got confirmation though. I don't think that AT matters.
Also, enjoy variety and enjoy your concept. -
Quote:Sounds great!
- In regards to "what other ways we'll earn threads in the future," yes, new Incarnate Trials are a part of that. They are not the only part, but anything else is in such early stages of development that it would be one promise too far. I will, however, say that we do have some things in mind like Incarnate Story Arcs and Repeatable Missions.
- I also wanted to add a quick reminder: Astral and Empyrean Merits will in the coming months be able to be used to acquire other rewards. To that end, these changes are partially intended to place less pressure on you to use Merits to fill in the gaps for your Incarnate components.

Cardiac is still great on an Invuln in my opinion.

Quote:This interface weakens secondary effects of one's target, not strengthens them. It's the special effect attacks have aside from damage. For instance, attacks from the Sonic Attack powerset cause a small debuff to damage resistance in addition to the damage from the attack. This interface power would increase that debuff.
I am not sure which secondary effects this power debuffs, but it probably includes this like status effects, -def, -tohit, and maybe a few other things. -

Thanks for the post.
Has there been any thought to retooling some content with added incarnate thread rewards. Also, could it perhaps be made possible to choose incarnate salvage instead of the 40 merits from TM or Apex?
Also, I am concerned that the players will never be satisfied with a system that rewards participation. There are too many factors for this be fully digested. How do you feel about players changing their play-style (perhaps in a way detrimental to the team) in an attempt to get the best reward?
Finally, you mentioned that we can breakdown larger rewards. Despite this, I would be better off getting the common or 10 thread reward table than getting another uncommon. Is there any way the breakdown tables could be improved. I would like to be able to breakdown an uncommon into a common, or a common into 10 threads. I don't like feeling penalized for landing in a higher reward bracket.
Thanks again for in the information. I would appreciate additional communication about specific concerns however. -
Quote:I agree, but one problem could be that relay specifics about the current system could be as bad announcing an exploit. I can't imagine many players favor the current system though.Actually, at this point the developers need to explain exactly what is happening with the reward tables. If that means spilling the beans on the participation criteria (if there is any attached to the tables), then they need to do so now before they start losing customers that feel disregarded when it comes to the reward tables.
If they don't come clear about the tables, speculation and wild accusations will continue to build to such a state that people won't want to participate in the trials with people they don't know.
Personally, i get uncommons most of the time, which are basically worthless to me (takes only 2 on the way to getting a very rare, but break down for only 8-10 threads).
A dev needs to say something sooner rather than later. If the truth is ugly, so be it, but people are beginning to suspect the worst anyways.
