Hey, look! There's a big Rikti bomb who's impact detonator didn't work! Let's go kick it until it disarms.

Right. That's pretty much what I said.

By "turn on double influnce" I took it he meant that he set Earning XP = No, so yeah, he was just getting the base Influence amount.

Then after he reset Earning XP = Yes and exemplared himself, he got more. Which again, is true due to how exemplaring works. The "extra" extra Infl he says he is seeing is probably due to Patrol XP (1.5x XP) giving that extra oomph on the XP conversion to Infl portion.

Either that or you are misunderstanding the way it's working somehow.
Yeah, yeah. I was emphasizing that I do not mess with their functions. They have worked the same way for every character I've made and played for the past 5 years. During which, my peeve threshold is exceeded periodically and I have devoted time to try to reverse engineer Tab's method for choosing or not choosing the expected next target.
  4. My Searchfu is weak.

Wasn't there a red name post some time ago who explained that disabling Earning XP in the Options just meant that you weren't going to get XP and had nothing to do with Influence gain. Whereas exemplaring (via mentor or Ouroborus) converted XP not received or used to pay of Debt into Influence.

TAB is "target_enemy_next" by default, which will incrementally target the foe that is next farthest away from you, starting with the one that is closest.

In the example above, he was targeting a foe that might be 5 feet away, and uses "target_enemy_next". The target moves to a foe in the next mob down the hall for the exact reason he stated.. the other 2 foes attacking him were less than 5 feet away from him, which is why he prefers using "target_enemy_near" instead, which only targets the closest foe and always gives him a target he can wail away on. lol

On a side note: While I'm sure that spawns are probably somehow labeled internally on some array of numbers somewhere, it has NOTHING to do with targeting. The commands "target_friend_next" and "target_friend_prev" work the exact same way (relative to distance), so unless you're going to tell me that players are also targeted by their internal IDs and PlayerA will ALWAYS be targeted in favor of PlayerB.. I'm afraid your binds are just mixed up.
I don't use binds at all. I just use Tab and Ctrl-Tab as they are provided in default state.

In my play experience, I can't trust Tab to target what I want. I do use it though, as a Tab+attack combo to aggro everything (regardless of archetype, that's just what I do) along frequent resets with Ctrl-Tab. But this is a non-specific, shotgun targeting method because that's all Tab is good for. If I want to specifically target something, I click to target or run up to it (to limit my view) and Ctrl-Tab.

Tab targeting has always worked this way. Tab always seems to target the enemy furthest away from you, even if the enemy is so far way, they're not even rendered. And if you're in an enclosed space where distance isn't a factor, Tab will psychically know which enemy unit is most important to you and refuse to target it. Tab will always target the least threatening enemy elements, including repeatedly skipping the ones who are directly in front of your view beating on you if you try to cycle through the targets.

I have learned to not trust Tab in a fight. I deal with it by moving myself as close to my intended target as possible to limit my view and then hitting Ctrl-Tab (default for target nearest enemy).

    Edit:
My own theory of how Tab targeting works is that as the enemies for the map are spawned, they are numbered. Tab then cycles through their numbered sequence regardless of where they are relative to you, except by line of sight (except if the obstuctions aren't rendered due to distance).
  8. Electric Melee is now available for Tanks, so that'll be the Lightning Rod power.
  9. If you're new to the Shadow Shard zones, I would recommend that you island hop until you get all the island waypoints to show on your map. It'll make it easier for you know where you have to go when you do the TFs there.

Buy a Jet Pack if you can't fly. It'll make travel a lot easier.

Ah. I never noticed that Hero One spelled Honoree and ditto on Lord Nemesis for Mender Silos. But I'm rather oblivous usually.

    Zoom question

As far as I know, zoom in and out never had any settings. There is a Menu-->Options-->Controls-->Mouse-->"Mouse Scroll Speed" options, but that was added to allow vertical scrolling in an items list window and it doesn't affect zoom speed.

Well, some additional travel advice for you to consider for your future adventures.

If you're going to carry cash, distribute it over several pockets. You don't want to risk being pick pocketed or mugged and then not having any way to pay for food or a means to get home. Plus you don't want to flash a wad of cash everytime you pay for something.

If you don't have one yet, you may also consider getting a credit card and/or at least a bank ATM card. Talk to your parents about the credit card. If you can't qualify for your own, they may be able to get a secondary card for you. Which they can then monitor what you're buying with it and you'll build up some responsibility points with them. Having access to a credit card and an ATM card will allow you to carry a lesser amount of cash for a long trip.

Keep your ID cards in a separate card holder and pocket than your wallet for cash. This is a precaution against losing everything if you get pick pocketed or mugged. The cash is expendible and you can get more, but lose the IDs and, at the least, you'll have to deal with the hassle of trying to get them replaced. At the worst, you'll have to deal with identity theft.
  15. Is this your first long distance trip on your own?

I was looking for the patch notes and such too. And I must say, the new Community Digest = http://boards.cityofheroes.com/tracker.php?do=showresults&type=community&outputTy pe=&searchid=579164&language= is difficult to look at with all the multi-language repeated posts.
  19. I just wanted to reiterate that you can sell Recipes at a regular store. Some people, like my brother, have a hard time grasping the concept at first which I think is due to where they're located in the store's window. That is, they're on the left side and you have to scroll down past all your Inspirations, which you can't sell.

Note: high level "common/generic" IO recipes sell for quite a bit at a regular store. You can sell them at Wentworths too to other players, but you generally won't get as much. On the other hand, named "Sets" IO recipes sell for a pittance at a regular store. However, certain highly desirable Set IO recipes will sell for millions at Wentworths. Be sure to check Wentworths before clearing out Set IO recipes.

  21. A few years ago, I took a Continuing Ed class on Using Macromedia Dreamweaver. I had already spent about 3 years self learning Frontpage 2000 prior to the class, but I wanted to see why Dreamweaver was so well regarded. The class included a final project to create an original web site using Dreamweaver, so I needed a topic.

While reading the Fark.com forums, I happened on a discussion about the (then) recent pervailance of charities advertising on Fark. A lot of these claimed to be grass-roots organizations, so weren't brand name charities most would recognize. There were suggestions that some were bogus and were just fascades for beggars. This led to someone mentioning that Karen, the first to be known mainstream for her begging website, had more than paid off her $30K credit card debt. Allegedly a few of copy cat sites had also done well, but people are obviously wising up.

I figured, hey, I'm probably late to the game, but a site like this doesn't look too complicated. I just need a means to accept payment and PayPal can do that. My biggest difficulty turned out to be getting a decent domain name. Getting a domain name and web hosting wasn't necessary for the class, but I figured since it wasn't expensive, I'd do it for the brownie points.

Apparently I was very late to the game as every 1-2 word name or phrase related to beg, begging, beggar, etc. I could come up with had the .com taken. I didn't want to settle for a non-.com name if at all possible. After about a week, "serialbeggar.com" was the only free one I found that sounded half-way decent.

Later on, after the class, I was doing personal research into web hosting (for personal use) and needed a user name for a web hosting provider/reseller forum that I found. For some reason, I didn't feel like using any of my usual user names. There were a few and none had much time devoted to them to develop an online personality. Then I though of the Serial Beggar web site and the online persona I had already created for it. Which really was a feat since I'm not a creative person.

When I came to COH, Serial Beggar came along. I have since settled on Serial Beggar to represent me online whereever I may go in the forseeable future.

The web design hobby has gone its course. In fact, I only recently looked at the serialbeggar site and noticed that the newest version of IE broke my nav bar's positioning. But I couldn't gather up the motivation to ponder how to fix it.

FYI: during the years that my serialbeggar site has been live, I have received a total of $2. Of which, PayPal took a chunk.

Honestly, how could a city, while recovering from the most devastating war in the history of the world, build such a colossal structure in so little time... not to mention having all the resources just for the material! Remember, it's taller than most buildings in the low areas, with areas rivaling the height of the tallest sky scrapers in Paragon! I figure it's more likely that Paragon used the Rikti's walls as a base for theirs- after all, we already know they're using their technology for it!
I guess that's why rebuilding Boomtown has been so low priority.

Peregrine Island doesn't have War Walls and if you hit the zone perimeter, you'll zone into Talos (back to the Ferry, though).
