  1. Yeah. After about 3 years in, I had all the office rooms, cave chambers, outdoor maps, corridors, intersections, etc pretty much memorized. Now at 5 years, I don't think I can get lost if I tried. I know which spots in the room the enemies will be if I was solo and if I was on a full team (they're slightly different). I know which are the trap rooms and intersections (where there is another group of enemies just out of your sight but you must inevitably reveal yourself to/aggro as you engage the obvious enemy group/door/etc.)
  2. I was thinking this is a good time to mule over expensive salvage and crafted enhancements that's needed by characters on one server from another. Using disposable characters, of course.
  3. I just failed an assault on the Frozen Realm. The Winter Lord was standing on a small cliff overlooking a lake in the Croatoa map. We only had one team, but we went in and were doing ok. Then a bunch of the Northern Light spawn and shot a broadside on us, taking out half the team. The rest didn't last long enough for the rest of use to get back from the hospital. And then we got shot up again, trying to engage the Winter Lord again.

It was totally down hill from there. We couldn't get rid of the Northern Lights fast enough. There was a swarm of them and some were imbedded/bunkered within the cliff itself. As soon as we got close to the cliff, we were shot up. Not only that, I didn't have any knockback protection so I was just being bounced constantly. We tried to pull the Winter Lord, but the swarm of Northern Light inevitably followed.

Eventually we were rezzing in the Hospital at such a fast rate, we were retaining aggro or something because the Winter Lord and entourage making rushes at us at the Hospital. This occured a few time, but we were able to pull them away from the Hospital. Until we couldn't. Everyone was at the Hospital and the swarm of Northern Lights came right up to the threshold of the rez room. We were dead again before we could stand up fully. After a while the Winter Lord came to see what was going on and came into the rez room.

At about a minute or so left, we all had max debt so it was kinda funny. Rez, try to take a shot before dying again, repeat.

Yeah. I just checked. I guess I never bothered to before.

    It's inside Pocket D.

Once you enter Pocket D, go to the villain/red side of it. Go up to the top level. Next to the balconey over looking the dance floor, you will see a small rocky area with snow and a wooden door. There's a smudgey picture of a skier on the door. Click the door to enter the Ski Chalet area.

You should have been automatically given Father Time as a contact.
  6. Spectral Terror shows and you can't target it.
  7. My question is: why doesn't Carrion Creepers show up in the Pets window?

This was pretty much what happened when I briefly entertained joining the BMLS. I ended up using all the good stuff that I got. The crap was still crap.

While COH is fairly lax on archetype roles (who's responsible for doing what), ie there are overlaps so certain powersets in other archetypes or highly experienced players can take on the same responsibility to an extent, players may still expect certain actions from you just because you are that archetype. Being a Tank is a prime example.

Some players consider a Tank (any Tank) to be the defacto "leader". Not necessarily the Team leader, but a Tank is typically expected to lead/pave the way for the team. You'd be expected to be up front all the time, to choose which fork in the road to go, to choose which enemy group to engage first, to be the first into the enemies, to grab the attention of all the enemies, to ensure the boss enemy doesn't go after anyone else, and if necessary, to hold the line and die so the team can retreat. As you can see, Tanks come with a lot of baggage and if you don't "measure up" by the first couple of enemy groups, most likely the team will designate you as either a wannabe Scrapper or "useless" and then proceed to deal with things themselves.
  10. I see it show up under the green heal chat spam. However, I'm usually too busy fighting to notice when it happened and how much more damage I was doing. I have it as part of the Set to get the set bonuses, so it's not that big a deal for me to spend the time to prove it out.
  11. I have an Ill/Storm, but I've played */Rad and Rad/*. In terms of fun, I'd go with Ill/Storm.

Rad is powerful, but can take some set up time with the debuff toggles. At the high level game where teams have damage galore, I find that I don't get to use them often for run of the mill spawn groups. Especially, when things go bad.

However, Storm has a lot of "tools" for a lot of situations and is especially good when things go bad. It's very satisfying to say "and screw you too!", summon everything, then run around with Hurricane and Gale'ing.
  12. You'd have to join the team to enter the mission, at which point, you would be SSK-exemplared down to 21. I also assumed that you wouldn't be trying to quit the team while in the mission to defeat the enemies by yourself (without the team) as that would be counter to the Stormy wanting her phat XP.
  13. Playing a low level Warshade teamed is a lot different from trying to play it solo. It is so depressingly weak solo.
  14. I'd say the Stormy. Assuming she has learned how to play the game over the 2 years, the Stormy should drop Freezing Rain from behind cover. After that, the Tank, Scrapper and I (Blaster) can move in. Personally, I'd pick off the minions first to remove as many enemies from play as quick as possible. The Tank and Scrapper can do whatever they want.

    Edit:
After thinking further about this, the Stormy is the only one other than myself who is probably slotted out reasonably well. Both the Tank and Scrapper do not sound to be slotted well enough to tank. I'd give it a go, as a Blaster, but it would depend on which powersets I have, so I'll just pass on it for now. Therefore, the ball drops back to the Stormy.

Depending on how well the 2 year Vet Stormy is built and if she really knows how to play a stormy, the Stormy should engage the spawns first. As I said, alternatingly opening with Freezing Rain or Gale to negate the alpha strikes. Then going in with Hurricane to debuff and to pin, and to provide an area denial.

And after re-reading your post, I see you mention BP. So, I'd take out the Shamans before moving to the minions.

    mrc?

Urbandictionary.com doesn't even have anything on it. So, yeah, it's gibberish.
  16. Goto The Market & Inventions board and ask. Fulmens and Smurphy were offering Influence/Infamy transfer services, although it's been some time since I last saw a post about their current transfer rate.

With this change I've found a marked improvement in what the hero can survive. Drawback is that it's slow getting around.
Most Power Pools can be put off for a bit, however I always start the Fitness Pool as soon as I can. Swift from the Fitness pool increases your overall run speed. It makes getting to and from a missions is quicker and your combat footwork feels a lot more responsive (without having to leave Sprint on--which drains endurance). Plus the Health (increase hitpoints regeneration rate) power decreases having to use Rest after every fight. And Stamina (increases endurance recovery rate) will be invaluable since most Tank sets are very endurance intensive.

I typically pick up Swift at level 6 or 8, depending on if I feel something was more important at that point. And then Health and Stamina when they become available. This still leaves you power choices in between to pick up more attacks or armor/controls/etc.

You could put off getting a Travel power if you use the Jetpack or perhaps buy the Martial Arts booster pack to get Ninja Run.

Maybe it's me, I'm new and just trying to figure things out. I've also only been on small teams, 2 or 3 and have not had any experience with larger teams.
Some clarification would help us to understand your point of view:

    - What level are you currently (on your Tank)?
    - Have you played any of the other archetypes (ATs)?
    - Do you understand how to use enhancements?
    - Have you been slotting out your powers with enhancements?
    - What type of enhancements are you currently using (TO/DO/SO/IO = training origin, dual origin, single origin, invention origin)?
    - How do you have your powers slotted (with which enhancements <accuracy, damage, resistance, defence, etc>) and how many?
    - What powers do you have on your Tank? In particular, did you pick up all your Armors (dependent on your level)?
    - Do you have a 2-3 attacks (dependent on your level) so that you can defeat enemies in a reasonable amount of time?

Generally, if you're solo, you can only depend on yourself to handle the enemies. As a Tank, you have to choose which to prioritized: slotting up your Armors or slotting up your attacks. Better armors means you don't need to rush to defeat your opponents, but if you're do so little damage, your opponent may be able to wear you down first. Low damage and/or low accuracy also means having to use more endurance which limits your fighting time.

In the early levels, you won't have enough of anything. However, as you gain in levels, better enhancements open up for you: dual origin enhancements are twice as good as training origin enhancements, then single origin enhancements are twice as good as dual origin enhancements, then (if you want to go this route) invention origin enhancements can improve your attributes in additional different ways.

So we need to know what level you are currently and how you're built out.

Having a team to spread out the enemies' attention and to augment the overal damage output will allow all involved to fight faster and looser. While a lot of people assign roles/jobs/responsibility/purpose to each archetype, the bottom line is that everyone can and should be able handle their own part of the fight. You don't have to deal with everything as you would if you were solo. Now, if you haven't played games involving large teams and large numbers of enemies all running amok, you may just be suffering from information overload.

    Some random tips:
    - You may want to zoom your camera out a little bit more so you can see more of the field of battle.
    - Ctrl-Tab can target the nearest enemy and F (follow) will cause you to bee-line to a targeted enemy.
    - Remember that you can target your team mate and attack through them, so if your team mate is at a distance from you, you can still launch a ranged attack (like Taunt) to whatever it is that they're fighting to help them out, especially if a bunch of enemies have all jammed around you so you can't move around easily.
    - I find it helpful to set "Show Player Health Bars = Always" in the Options-->General.
    - Also, in Options-->Controls, you can set your W(left)<-->(right)E turning speed up (if you use those keys). I find that 700+ "feels" a lot more comfortable than the default turning speed.
  19. I use the Vaults all the time. Although, I seldom use the Vaults out in the City. I mostly use the Vault appearance in my Bases since they're closer to the Invention table that are also in my Bases.

I use the Storage Racks in my (personal) Bases to hold the expensive IO Salvage, which can then by accessed by any of my characters. Of course, the Storage Rack can only hold 30 pieces, so any extras go into the Vault. I also keep a small supply of non-rare, yet occasionally hard to come by, commonly used IO salvage.

Most of the time each of my Character's Vault is full. I don't see any point in not keeping it full. IO Salvage periodically spike up in price and often times, I'm not aware of it until I read it on the forums or I need it for crafting. I'm too much of a cheapskate to pay buy-it-now prices, so having a few on hand reduces wait time.

    1) Buy up unpopular dirt-cheap set recipes on the market (things with names, like "Ruin" or "Maelstrom's Fury") and run them to a nearby store or contact.
Hey! Whoa, there. I like Ruins. They're a nice gap filler until I can afford the "better" Sets.
  21. One thing people rarely expand on when they say to "sell your Recipe drops": you can sell them at a regular store, not just the Market. However, at the regular store, the Recipes are listed on the left side of the store's screen, UNDER the list of your Inspirations--which the store won't buy. I have come across many people fooled by this, because they don't scroll down past the list of Inspirations.

That said, for "common/generic" Invention Origin (IO) Recipes, if you're going to sell them, sell them at a regular store. They're worth a lot there and the stores pay a fixed rate. One of the paragonwiki links already provided gives you the chart. Whereas, if you try to sell them at the Market, you're selling to other players who are trying to buy them as cheap as they can.

For named "Sets" IO Recipes, the regular stores pay a fixed rate for them too, but it's a very low price. Well, it's ok, but not like a Common IO Recipe. However, for Sets IOs, there are many that are in high demand. You should make it a practice to go to the Market to check the going rate for them there. Note: check what players are paying for both the the Recipe and its crafted IO enhancement. Generally, the crafted IO enhancement is worth a lot more than the Recipe. This may be due to an expensive salvage component requirement or chronic low availability or a mark up for popularity. After a while, you'll get to recognize what's worth your time at the Market and what you can just sell at the regular store while you're selling the other stuff.

Note: for non-IO enhancements, ie the TO, DO and SOs (training, dual, single origins), you'll get paid more for them at the regular store whose origin matches the origin of the enhancement. If you take a Mutant origin enhancement to a Mutant store, you'll get paid the full sell value for it. However, if you take the Mutant origin enhancement and sell it to a Science store, the Science store will rip you off.

Note: if you're buying TO, DO, and SOs, buy them for a regular store. Don't buy them from your Contacts. Your Contacts sells them at inflated prices (you know, because you're his bestest friend for saving the world and all). The Devs have said that they'll finally be changing this idiocy (normalizing all prices), but it hasn't happened yet.

  23. I just left click (the character's name in chat) or right click (on the character) and choose Add Note. That shows the global name.
  24. Just to clarify my post and my experience, I went from a 7600 GT(?) to a 8800 GTS 640MB and got maybe a 2-4 fps improvement. Setting my graphics to basic, with the 8800 got me maybe ~5 fps more, but I wasn't willing to accept having to do that with how much the 8800 cost.
