Since Foot Stomp seems to be the attack of choice for the majority of the existing giant monsters with legs, I'd add my wish that any new giant monster do something different for their AOE attack.

The Devs said Smoke Grenade's purpose is a "stealth". The -tohit debuff is a secondary effect perk.

    Leaving an SG...

Well, if the SG consists of less than 15 members, it does lose the 20K bonus Prestige.

  5. On the Infinity server, "anchor" was the local term for a team padder/filler since back in the day I was a new. In fact, I'd never seen the terms "pad" or "fill" or their variations used until I ventured out to other servers.
  6. I've always felt that I can never have too much accuracy. While it might be a waste most of the time, there will be occasions where you'll be debuffed or run with a team fighting +4s, etc. When I was slotting SOs, I would slot at minimum 2 accuracy SOs. If possible, I'll try to get a +tohit power of some sort on top of that.

Now with IOs, I use Set bonuses in place of the +tohit power. All of my characters have a mix of Crushing Impacts (melee attacks) and Thunderstrikes (ranged attacks). I slot 4 pieces each to get the +accuracy set bonuses. However, with only 4 pieces, the sum of the accuracy attribute boost itself is only 1.5 SOs worth. So I include a Mako quad or a Devastation quad piece for the 5th slots to bring accuracy attribute boost up to 2 SOs worth. If you have several melee or ranged attacks to slot out, you can get about another SO's worth from the +accuracy Set bonuses. Sirroccos and Obliterations (PBAOE attacks) also offer +accuracy Set bonuses. I try to fit them in too if I can.

If you want to slot for secondary effects, instead of the Mako and Devastation (in the 5th slot), you can slot secondary effects Sets that have an accuacry attribute boost. Generally, I'll slot 2 of them (to fill out the 6 slots on the power) to get their Set bonus too if they're any good.
  7. The 30s are where you get 2 level ups with 3 slots to allocate each between power picks. By the time you hit the 40s, you should have all your core powers and they should pretty much be fully slotted. While you might need more XP to level, the game will seem faster because you're at full power.

I guess I'm behind the times about it. I was basing it on when my parents were renting several decades ago. I never read the lease, was too young to understand it at the time.
  9. Yeah, but the longer you put off making your own solo Supergroup and Base, the harder it'll feel like to get it going. Just do it and soon enough, you'll get decent functionality and utility from it.

I felt like I was the only here on and I actually did a search late one night to find out that I was indeed the only person on the server. I just found the idea of that disturbing. The reason for Virtue is the person that introduced me to CoH, who was my daughter. We've done some stuff together, but she's on to play with her friends and doesn't want to hang out with me unless they're not around.
  11. In regards to being made very fast, you're getting buffed by a Kinetics player with Speed Boost, aka "SB", (+endrecv, +recharge, +movement speed). Many players complain about the +speed portion of it when they're new or due to physical condition can't handle the faster reaction time required to manage it. Back in the day, I had to pick up Superspeed for a few months to get the hang of moving fast all of the time. The trick is learn not to hold down your movement keys, just quick taps. Or target foe (Tab, Ctrl-Tab, or click select) and press F (follow) to beeline and be glued to the target.

Your play style request is more difficult to answer. The problem is that you're playing a game that's been around for a while and which has many veteran players. And these players are very familiar with the missions and have a good grasp of what their characters can do. Some are also likely to need to push the envelop to get their adrenalin high.

The only thing I can suggest to avoid this would be to start and lead your own teams. As a team leader, you'll have more weigth to set ground rules and be picky about who you'll play with. Of course, try not be a tyrant about it. Have you joined Virtue's global channels for team recruitment? You could state that you're recruiting for a laid back mission team doing a story arc, no speed runs, etc.

nvm it seems i had to activate it by indeed purchasing game time.
Subscription is not like Rent. With Rent, you live there for a month, then you pay at the end of the month. With Subscription, you pay up front, then you're given a month of play time. With the free month, you're not charged now (starting from the day you activate) to play this month (30 days). The credit card for payment set up is so they can charge you for next month. You can always remove it if you decide to cancel.

(note: article includes video of undies!)

Anyone have the link to the fan-made COH novelty clothing line from a couple of years ago? I vaguely recall it was a Euro link. There were some nice looking undies.
  14. All I have is a beat up steno pad that must be close to 20 years old now to track what power I picked up at which level. I don't use either of the build planners for pre-planning since I like to feel the playability of my characters as I go. I refer to my pad's information to see what I powers I have available if I exemplar and as a guide during respec-ing.

You may want to consider Kickstarter.com if you need a "nominal" amount of money to pay for a license to use a song. If it's amount of perhaps up to the low 4-digits, the COH community might be able to help you swing it. Of course, the project and the expense themselves would need to be significant/worthy enough to persuade people to pitch in.
  16. I usually start switching to using Set IOs around the low to mid-30s. I've never had much luck accumulating enough of the pieces I want to use with the less than level 30s before I blow past that level range. There is just better availability for the 30+ stuff even if they cost a bit more. Plus, I like to enjoy the special benefits of (possibly expensive) Set IO slotting for 15-20 levels as I'm playing my character.

This being said, I slot powers picked up prior to mid-30s with low to mid-30s Set IOs. Powers picked up above mid-30s, get corresponding level Set IOs--if available. Note, this goes for Set IOs where I'm trying to stack for (same) attributes. If it is for a slot on it's own, I'll put in the highest level (cheap!) IO piece I can lay my hands on.

    Invasion!

Over the years, occasionally when I'm bored, I'd do a search for "GM" in the Team Search to see if any are on. If so, I'd Friend them. I had quite a collection of names at one point, but after NCSoft purged their staff a couple of years ago, I never saw activity from them anymore. I supposed some of them could have wised up and stayed in Hidden mode.

    Edit:
Your UI layout is so crowded. Have you considered using the Window Scale to allow them fit better?

Actually, I think you mean The Goofy Gophers.

Agh! I shouldn't have spent time watching the cartoon!
  20. Do you stealth into the spawn group or just run up in plain sight? I usually have plenty of time to use Eclipse and Mire before the spawn group responds with an alpha strike (they're stuck in animation). I follow up immediately with switching to Dwarf form to get the 2nd Mire off anyway, so if I do get mezzed at some point, it doesn't last long.
  21. Well, I had it in my head that I wanted level 30s and there weren't any available at 30 (I think, kinda fuzzy now).

Hmmm, speaking of thinking, one of them was put into a Patron pool armor, so it being 30 doesn't make much difference for that case then. However, the second one was put into the first armor of my Fire Tank, so I'll need to consider switching it out. I'll wait for the next free respec though, because I'm cheap.
  22. Ack! I had already used Merits to buy a couple of these as level 30s! I didn't even consider this.
