Don't be afraid to take powers that don't do damage. Using them could give you that extra couple of seconds of breathing room to finish the fight or to safely escape.

Look at me! I need to be adored!
Or at least considered a curiousity. -
Quote:My youtube search-fu is weak. There was an Abbott and Costello skit where Abbott was asking Costello about his age relationship with a hypothetical girlfriend. It went something, very vaguely, like this:For shame! It is SO wrong for a 110 year old man to marry an 18 year old! WRONG I SAY!! FOR SHAME!! SHAAAAAAAAAME!!!
Abbott: How old are you?
Costello: 40
Abbott: What if the girl you are interested in is 10 years old?
Costello: 10 years old? That's too young.
Abbott: Of course, that won't do. You're 4 times older than she is. So how about you waiting 5 years for her to grow up a bit.
Costello: She'd be 15 and I'll be 45.
Abbott: 15 is better, but you're still 3 times older than her.
Costello: People will talk.
Abbott: Yes, so what if you both give it more time. You love her, right? She loves you, right?
Costello: Of course.
Abbott: So wait 15 more years. Your love can last that long, right? You'll be 60 and she'll be 30. Now you'll only be twice as old as she.
Costello: She's catching up fast. If I wait any longer, she'll be older than me! -
I don't role play my characters. None of them have backgrounds. I just play them. As such, I will start with picking powerset I haven't played yet. Then I will try to pick a powerset to pair it with that can compensate for any weaknesses it might have that I'm aware of. My goal is survivability with decent damage.

I recall one of my elementary school teachers once give me a talk. She had heard one of my friends inviting me to something (I forget what) and the first thing I did was ask "who else will be there?" My teacher pointed out that I wasn't making the decision based on whether I wanted to join my friend to enjoy the time with him, but rather who else I subconsciously considered more worthy to be with would also be there. It was as a profound and enlightening concept for me at that age. Since then, I have tried to make immediate decisions with regards to requests from friends. I don't want them to beg and I won't beg them.
Therefore, I say: screw him. You gave him the pitch and more than once it seems. It's up to him to make a decision. So far, all indications is that his decision is still no. While I'd like there to be more new players, I don't feel that we need to coerce them to join. They either want to or they don't. Leave at that and let him go. -

Quote:Possibly: Idol of Lughebu or Med KitMy highest level blaster also has a tiny sliver of progress on one of the health badges. Thing is, he's never used any heal powers. Doesn't even have any! Unless it was some temp power from way back I've forgotten, otherwise I have no clue how it got there....
Never really bothered me though.
Oh, yes! The Ghost Slaying Axe was another instance where I sat down and seriously weighed the pros and cons about deleting a character, two in this case. -

There's also Super Sidekicking, no more having to find a mentor on the team. Team members automatically adjusts (sk up or exemplar down) to the team leader or whoever has the active mission. In addition, XP all the time, even when exemplared. There was a post of someone wanting to try to level a new character to 50 only by joining lowbie Sewer teams in Atlas. The world has gone crazy!

Quote:I had the same issue with my Emp Defender and my 1st Controller. It really, really bugged me for a long time. But I've gotten over it now because I have Base storage along with insp sellers readily available at Oroborus and AE buildings. The last couple of new characters I am playing have not made it a priority to open their Contact's full insp store, which required a distinct mental shift to make it happen.Another that people can learn from is:
I teamed like crazy on my emp defender. I rushed forward doing no contacts in a few zones, like Talos. That is one thing I regret bitterly when I play her.
Thus I learned to make certain to have a contact in every zone upwards. (Thank goodness for the "No-XP" button)
Reason, for buying inspirations in every zone.
The other thing I regret was trying to be a completist on 2 characters when Croatoa came out. Keeping myself in perma-Debt so that I could finish all my Contact's story missions solo burnt me out. I stalled out at about 35 after finishing up Croatoa. These 2 characters languished on the shelf for years. Perhaps it was due to both of them being Defenders, so their low damage dragged every fight out. After a couple of years, I finally made a push, ditched the completist concept and got the Dark/Dark to 50 on regular team play. However, I still can't gather up the enthusiasm to play the Rad/Rad even now with any frequency. -
Doesn't the ITF scale like Trials? I recall that a lot of low-40s ITFs were being run for while. Although, I got the impression that it was mostly due to the shunned lowbies that couldn't get on the level 50 ITFs. Like the 50s were thinking the lowbies just wanted to get powerleveled.
Edit, this was prior to supersidekicking. -
Quote:Ah, yes. Sorry abou that. I was already forming my own reply in my head when I scanned your responses. My hoarding mentality biased what you were saying as having a frivolous tone. The original post asks "Just wanted to gauge what you all consider "store-worthy" and what you dispose of and/or sell?"
I posted my response with strong use of the word "personally": a word which I clearly and distinctly added (counting) three times in two posts. I also used "I" 15 times in those two posts.
*EDIT* I went back and read my first and second posts. I even added a "if I was starting out section"... wow. I was on the ball. -
See that's the thing. You're comparing your self made, ultra-rich self to his working class being. I'm assuming that since the OP is asking, he's either not yet in the position to casually toss Inf around or just has a frugal personality.
As for me, I store Rares, of course. Not the low level Rares, though. Sometimes, I'll even put out fishing bids to see if I can snag more on the cheap. I'm a hoarder.
As for the Common and Uncommon salvages, you need to be aware of which are used by the Common IO crafters. Typically the 30-40 range stuff. There are times when their supply will dip. For example: a couple of competitive field crafters working the same IO, or a bunch of people making inventory in preparation for a double XP weekend, etc.
For myself, I keep a few of these around:
- Alchemical Silver
- Ancient Bones
- Demonic Blood Samples
- Inert Gas
- Mastwork Weapons
- Rune
- Scientific Theory
- Spell Ink
- Stabilized Mutant Genome
I may go for a while not needing to use them, but inevitiably, when I do need one, they'll have been run up in the Market. And I'm cheapskate. So to avoid the hassle, I like to have 1-5 of each on hand.
I don't store Luck Charms past 25+. I haven't encountered any of the higher level Set IOs I use require them.
Of course, you should keep an eye out for some of the other stuff that have occasional activity. For example: Chaos Theroems and Thorn Tree Vines ranged in the 60-150K range for half a year (I think), but have come back down. Lately, I've noticed Tremporal Tracers holding steady at 50K+, so I if pick one up from a drop, I'll toss it into the storage bin just in case. -

The prize is a rocking profes...sional video editing system worth over $15,000.00!!! -
Wow. That is strange.
You may want to post have this post moved to the Technical Issues & Bugs board, and perhaps send an PM to Arbitor Kim to check it out. I don't suppose you can submit a trouble ticket too just so they have a paper trail. -
Quote:There are enhancements for jump. If you're looking at a regular enhancements (DO, SO), they'll be a bit cryptic with their roll play names. You just need remember that enhancements are always listed alphabetically, except for the ones they renamed and didn't resort.Last question, is there any enhancement that increases jump height? I have a fire/fire blaster with super speed and I took hurdle hoping it would make it fun...it doesn't do as much as I'd like. Thanks for the help.
Also, enhancements are always the same color for their purpose. Jumps are beige, see = http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Enhancement_Colors . When you scroll down to what you think is the Jump, right click it for Info to double check.
Note: you may want to check Wentworths/Black Market for Jump IOs. They're more clearly labled as a "parabolic arc from a jump" graphic, plus they're usually fairly cheap. -
If you can open the Options-->Video & Audio tab, there's a (slider) setting for window scale size.
Edit:
If you can't get to Options, you can try the TweakCOH app:

Ack, link there is broken. Anyone have a better link? -
I used to solo Frost Fire on all my new characters as a coming of age event before I accepted team invites with them. Sure, I might have to make a few Hospital runs, but I'd wear him down eventually. If I could take out Frost Fire on my own, then I've learned enough of my new character's powersets to handle most situations.
-
Low level, you're pretty much only interested in Accuracy, Damage, Recharge, Endurance Reduction and maybe Run. And depending if your powersets, Resistance, Defense and Heal. Salvage-wise, I think the only thing really expensive (for a low level currently) are the Luck Charms which you'll need for Accuracy and Defense.
As for the expense, there are means to generate a million Inf starting from nothing fairly quickly working the Market. If you craft enough to slot yourself, you can pretty much memorize the low level recipes as a side effect. So then, after you've memorized a few recipes, you can craft more to sell to generate more income. It's expensive up front, but can pay for itself later.
I start crafting for the level 15 common IOs. I don't bother with the level 10s unless I'm bored.
Edit:
In terms of cost effectiveness, I'd say it depends on whether you team or solo.
If you solo, you have time to putz around the Market to make enough Inf to buy what you need to make the IOs, even if you have to buy the recipes straight off the Invention Crafting table. Plus personal performance is probably of more concern than cost (again, assuming you have cost covered).
However, if you are on a team and can rack up the XP fast, buying DOs and SOs and just making do for the duration is probably better. Any lack in performance can be covered by your team mates (hopefully). -
Everytime I use a Respec, there is always one temp power that won't go away with the right click. Most of the time it's the Rock. I just move it to another power tray that I don't use.

I remember coming across a thread in the Base Construction boards where someone was pondering a Base Raid scenario where one SG was going to be purposely malicious to the other SG's Base. From what I can remember, while capturing the Items of Power is the main objective in a Base Raid, during the Raid, you can also damage and destroy Base equipment. This is so you can neutralize the automated Base defenses.
The "what if" scenario is: what if the malicious SG's only goal was to enter an SG base to destroy its Tier2 or Tier3 power supply? I forget how Prestige is handled with restoring a destroyed Base object after the Raid is finished, so I don't know if you have to pay extra to recraft it. However, cost isn't much of a concern to an SG who is big enough to have afford one of these already. The problem is: how would the SG go about recrafting it?
Unlike the Tier1 power supply (Basic Generator/Power Crystal) which is purchaseable, the Tier2 (Turbine Generator/Ley Tap) and Tier3 (Fusion Generator/Dimensional Vortex) need to be crafted with an Advanced or Expert work table respectively. And for a work table to "work", it needs power -- but the Base has no power (because it was destroyed during the Raid).
The fact that the Base is using one of these high end power supply implies that the Base is huge to massive. The current way Bases are set up for power, it is all or nothing. You need enough power for everything before anything that needs power to work. Just buying a Tier1 power supply won't be enough to power up the Base and you can't buy more than one.
So now the victim SG is screwed. The only way to create a new Tier2 or Tier3 power supply is to sell off a major quantity of their Base's powered items to get their overall power requirement low enough for the dinky Tier1 power supply to kick in so the work table can be used. This can effectively cause the SG to strip out hours, days or weeks worth of design efforts and lock them out of future Base Raids until their gutted Base is rebuilt. -
Quote:There's the Mole Point base short cut which hardly anyone knows about anymore.
Same with the Shadow Shard (although, a lot of people would be hard pressed to remember each of the four zone's names there).
Firebase Zulu, Cascade Archipelago, the Chantry and the Storm Palace.
Anyway, let's see what you guys think. -
I always take the Blue Wisp. It's especially nice on new characters. Any additional +recov is great before Stamina.
Late Edit: wow. I didn't even notice this double post from my earlier edit. -
