I've always thought the ae combo was pronounced as a long-A. For example: gaelic

Quote:This bit about flushing all of your unused H/V Merits is a bummer though. We're keeping it simple. Heroes that travel through the alignment system and become Villains can reaffirm their Villain alignment and gain Villain merits. If that same Villain travels on the path of redemption back to a "hero", then they will be able to re-affirm their alignment as a Hero and earn Hero merits. Being a "true" Hero or a "true" Villain will always grant access to Fort Trident (Heroes) and the Crucible (Villains).
The only penalty is that if you have any Hero or Villain Merits, and then change your alignment to Vigilante or Rogue, your fallen Hero or road to redemption Villain will lose their earned Hero and Villain Merits. (To reiterate, these are rewards for "true" Heroes and Villains.) -
And the super sidekicking makes it even easier. In the past, you took the risk of being too low to get a mentor or your mentor was low anyway, so you're facing very purple enemies.

My richest characters are all the ones that are in semi-retirement. I usually log them all in at least once a week to check on their Day Job status anyway, so I take a quick detour to the Market to see if anything has happened there. The ones I don't play can take the bigger risks (I'm still small potatoes, though) and have no qualms about waiting things out.

Here's a recent update to the Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart at Tom's Hardware.
You'll need to use your browser's Find (on page) to search for your cards.
Based on the chart, the ATI 5470 appears to be "better" than the nVidia G 210. However, note their disclaimer:
Quote:At the request of readers, I have added mobile graphics and integrated chipsets to the hierarchy chart. I want to make it clear that there is very little performance data available for these graphics solutions. While the discrete video cards in the chart are placed in tiers based on a lot of information, many of the mobile and integrated devices in the chart are guesstimates based on their specifications. At worst, I dont think theyre more than one tier away from their actual performance, but this is something to keep in mind when considering mobile graphics chipsets. -
Quote:I forgot to mention this. Way back in the day, before the Market and the Invention system, we were all dirt poor on our very first few characters. I was using mostly Dual Origins up to the high 20s. It was generally accepted that the early 30s was the turning point when you could finally earn enough Influence to afford a full replacement of all your enhancements with Single Origins. And boy was it "pouring in" once I could go into Peregrine and hit the level 40 enemies. Truly, I was giddy with amount I had that I'd buy another full round at the next level up just so I can combine the SOs to + and ++ so they remained at max effectiveness.This. My first pre-market/recipes/salvage/IOs hero hovered in the 1-2 million mark for most of their career. I was almost always able to upgrade to the latest loot when mine expired. It's just not that expensive and does not require marketeering.
And you'd have to go through this with each new character unless you had a friend to pass you some Inf. There was no way to pass Inf to yourself. There were work arounds, like having a Base with storage bins so you could deposit some junk enhancement drops for you lowbie alt to pick up and sell. Life was tough and we made do. Just before the Market was launched, my richest character had a little over 20 million. That's just pocket change to a lot of players nowadays. -
Quote:I second this suggestion. Your characters' personal inventories are too limiting. Set up a personal supergroup and a Base. Have someone help you invite all your alts (make a few filler alts too) so you'll get the 20K Prestige bonus for the first 15 SG members. This should be enough to get a couple of storage bins (salvage and enhancements). You've already begun to see which items are expensive. When you get these as drops, put them away into your bins until you need it.Make your own base. Store everything there. Craft along the way.
(note: don't forget to turn on SG mode on all your characters, so you can earn more Prestige.)
If you're already in someone else's SG and are accustom to using their teleport pads, you can ask their leader if they'll set up a coalition with your personal SG so you can still use their facilities. -
FYI: with the Vanguard day job badge, after they removed the level restrictions from the hazard zones, you can earn time on it as a lowbie. However, you won't get the badge until your character turns 35.
I didn't notice this fact on one of my lowbies alts that is semi-retired except to play the Market. Everytime I log it in, I'd think "oh, just a bit more" and continue to the Market. After what must have been over a month, I started to wonder if there might be a bug. I was just about to write up a petition until I re-read the badge info. So, keep it in mind for your lowbies. -
Well, Illusion is a chaos set, so the feared enemies are not going to stay undisturbed for any length of time anyway. I use Spectral Terror as an opener to negate the alpha strike and a general hinderance to the enemy group.
-
The chance for damage works really nice in Spectral Terror. It checks every 10 secs on every foe in Spectral's PBAOE. I suppose it works on Spectral's single target scream, but I haven't paid much attention to it since the AOE works so well.
-
I can't even give away my Titan-Os.
-
Another aspect I take into account of is that if I'm playing a ranged fighter and happen to find myself targeting the same foe (via a Tab cycling to next) that another team mate, in particular a meleer, is already fighting, I will switch off to another foe. This assumes, of course, that the team mate's health is ok. The reason for this is that I've noticed quite a few melee attacks are really slow to animate compared to blast attacks. Many times, I'll get the kill shot before my team mate's attack finishes animating. I don't really know how my team mates feel about his, but if it was me, I might get irked after a while if every guy I fight gets sniped out of my hands. Especially if the melee set is light on AOE and I have to focus on individual targets. Even as a tank, I'd like to have some "kills" of my own.
-
I'd skip Assault and keep Tactics. I'd also drop Recall Friend.
You can't squeeze in Hail of Bullets? It's like a crashless quasi-nuke. -
Quote:We can bank fractional amounts? Don't typical even level minion defeats give 3-4 Prestige?
A permanent 10% bonus to Prestige earned by defeating enemies -
Quote:Well, those that like to get into melee will be taken out as a consequence of the AOEs directed at the AV. However, a lot of enemies are ranged oriented and will hang back.Yes, we are.
Minions, LTs and Bosses lingering around will be dead from splash damage long before AV is taken down.
For example, those teleporting Rikti Headman Gunmen. They may port in next to you initially to take a shot or two, but afterwards, they will port out to max range and stay there. If you pay attention, you will notice that they will form a ring around you (if there's enough of them) popping you in the back with their blasters. -
Quote:When I'm playing my own Tanks with a team, I don't stay targeted with a single foe for any significant amount of time. I'm constantly alternating Tab and an attack to try to cycle through every foe near enough to me to hit. I'm also on the look out for foes at the fringes of my aura to use Taunt on them when it recharges. In addition, I do have a couple of ranged attacks (Nem Staff, Black Wand) to use too. So there's not much point on targeting through me as even I won't know what I am or will be targeting sometimes.Im wondering how many people do this. I tend to target my own guys, unless I start grabbing too much aggro. I then target through the alpha sponge until its safe to tab away on my own.
The questions not stemming from a confrontation/ drama, just wondering if it is common practice.
With this experience, when I'm playing a non-Tank/Brute character, I choose my own targets. As a ranged damager, I have the benefit of being able to see the entire field of battle. I make use of this to pick off specific annoying enemies and runners with my single target attacks in between dropping AOEs on the mass around the meleers.
Oh, and then you meet the old school "Tanks" who just stand in the middle of an enemy group doing nothing except having their taunt aura on, all the while believing that they are so great because they're not getting hurt. -
Quote:Yup.I usually leave bosses for last because, well, everything else dies faster... and dropping 10 minions is going to mitigate more incoming damage than killing 1 boss, who will (most times) only be attacking 1 person at a time (usually the Tank!... if they're any good.). sure they have some burst damage, but all those minions running around are like a big ol' constant AoE the whole time you're focusing all your efforts on the boss, making it easier for that boss to 1-2 shot you after the minions weaken you up a little.
Even playing solo, in most cases, I'd take out the minions first. I can usually 2.5 (as a lowbie) to 1.5 shot a minion (as a highbie with better slotting) compared to 6+ shots to take out a Boss. So instead of slugging it out with a Boss while his entourage nickles and dimes me, and possibly get a lucky shot in to knock me down or otherwise incapacitate me at a critical moment, I can get rid of most of the pests first even if I have to lead the Boss on a merry chase.
However, if the character I'm playing can stand up to all the incoming damage for the duration, then it is better to focus on the Boss and allow the rest to cluster tighter for more efficient AOE-ing. -
So I was going through Wentworths to see what Base Salvage pieces were actually going for. There seems to be someone buying up some of the mundane ones for about 13K. I also noticed quite a few had no history which I guess they hadn't had any activity since the last Market server wipe (what was that for again? I don't remember.) Would this mean that they are particularly rare?
Then I came across this baby:
My first thought was that someone used this salvage for an old school Influence transfer. However, we were given the ability to email attachments and Influence to ourselves 2 months prior to this transaction date and that's a lot of outstanding bids to risk such an maneuver. Was this a massive fat finger fumble? But the particular amount 1,400,000,005 argues against it. -
Yeah, check the Market first to see if any of your Base Salvage are being coveted by the collectors. Some are reportedly going for millions.
For the duds, go to a University to use their Invention tables (or your own if your Base has one) to convert them to Brainstorms. When you bring up the Invention interface window, one of the action is called "Convert". Brainstorms are an intermediate state. You'll convert Brainstorms to regular usable Invention Salvage. -
Quote:Ah. OK. The way you guys were talking, it sounded like it was more recent. Here are the patch notes for it. It was buffed in I13.

In my experience, if one wants to play primarily as a buffer/debuffer, there is more synergy to pair this play style with the Controller archetype. It has way more survivability and way less stress. A Defender may need to spend half their time trying to reactively avoid aggro after casting their debuffs or while trying to keep buffs up on their team mates if things go bad. It's particularly tricky during times when multiple enemy groups are engaged and a few are persistent at dogging you. In comparison, on a Controller, after you drop a couple controls at the beginning and you can turn most of your focus to buffing and debuffing. You are generally free to be able to have an overview of the battle and pick out the troublesome individuals to be dealt with (assuming you're not aggressively scrapping it out in melee).

Quote:Isn't 15 minutes? If you do the second build route, you can switch between the two builds, swapping the two complete sets of powers, slots and enhancements, at any trainer. There is a 30 minute cooldown on this swap, to prevent some exploits that might otherwise occur (when you switch builds, every cooldown is reset. If you could swap faster, you could bypass intentionally long cooldowns.)

Eh. I guess I spent too much time editing my screenshots. Anyway, since it's done, here's an illustration:
