  1. What Ironik said will get you the best results.

For immediate results, I've got lo-res reference shots of most all characters on the Codex:

    Civic Squad
    Miscellaneous NPCs

    (full list)

    Cut scenes??!?!? Please????

    Oooo!!!

That would make this feature go to 11 if we could do cut scenes!

I can’t tell you how excited I am for our game’s future, and although we have some major announcements yet to be made, one of the things I can talk about is a feature that we are planning. Similar in concept to our character creator, it allows you, the players, to create missions and story arcs for your characters and others to participate in. You’ll be able to pick the map, villain group, and objectives, as well as write the dialog and any clues needed for the missions. When you are satisfied with it, you can upload it and have other players across all servers play it and rate it. Fame will come to the players whose stories rate the best overall. It is features like these that we never dreamed of including when we first shipped, but are excited to be able to offer players very soon.

WOW! That is, to quote the bard, freakin' awesome!

Enjoy the cake! You guys deserve it!

    Videomaking

Also, if you opt to use demos, the UI will automatically be hidden in demoplayback.

I wish I could do something like that...someday.

    I think you succeeded.

    Great stuff.
  6. Wowzers. That is outstanding!

One more for the list (posted by Leandro):

With all the rickrolling going on in the boards, I decided I should try my hand at it, and of course I went for the biggest fish I could find. Since both devs and community reps have already fallen for it, I decided to go for the evilest guy around: Lord Recluse himself!

Here's a photo for proof of the rickrolling, and I even got a surveillance video (also at w00tstudios and a high-quality WMV download). Top that, noobs!

    Looks at available character slots...

Well, guess it's time to buy that third account.
  9. This (the lack of coordinate information) is something I realize renders the Codex’s Map list only marginally useful, at best. To improve on this, I am planning an update to provide "reference coordinates" for as many maps as possible. The reference coordinates will key off of either the final mission "boss" enemy or major mission objective. These objects or enemies usually have a start spawn that corresponds to the "final" room in a mission. For the artified and unique maps, this usually also corresponds to the section of the map with the most visual style and design (ie, Tyrant's throne room), so I would expect this final room to normally be the one that demo-editing folks would be looking for in order to use a specific map.

I’m not going to have this ready tomorrow, or anything like that, but it is something I’m hoping to at least start providing information on, sooner rather than later.

    Demo Rikti Sky

Sky color is controlled by the skyfile line:

    Normal sky: SKYFILE SKY 1 0 1.000000
    Invasion sky: SKYFILE SKY 0 1 1.000000

That's using the first two fields (which is how it records during an actual invasion), which appear to be binary.

You can also play with the final number to tweak things, though I don't know how that functions. My best guess being that it's a saturation value of some sort -- the more you increase it, the more color starts washing out all detail, although interestingly it seems to predominate in the foreground, rather than the sky or distance. Possibly a depth of field value. Dunno.

Skyfile gets used as a generic time advancer quite a bit, so be sure to change all occurrences in the relevant interval.

    Need an FX name

    Sweet! New data!

    Thanks, Relentless.

    Need an FX name

I think they're combining multiple FXs in that one & the Statesman Hammer is only half of it. As for the other half...

How do you feel about the color red?

I've been wondering if I had that one they use in Dies Irae, but hadn't taken the time to look. I *think* it is a version of lightning rod, but not one I have (at least not one that's jumping out at me). Here is the red (Brute) one:

    POWERS/ELECTRICITYCONTROL/RED_LIGHTNINGRODCAST.FX (OneShot)

If that's not close enough, you could also e-mail Aral (maker of Dies Irae) at aral.cox@gmail.com (that's the e-mail from their web site).

Hehehe, guess I don't need to send you those hero model names, eh?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nope. I'm set.
  15. Was just going to post a similar request myself. I'll be trying to get in, but in case I don't, I'm keen to capture any new content in the festivities. So any raw demos of the event will be most welcome.

    Missing Weapons?

    [ QUOTE ]
The problem is that the reference is "customweapon.fx" but that is a link that should be telling the loader to reference the players costume to get the correct weapon, but is failing so nothing gets drawn. There is probably a "weaponhammer.fx" or something similar that if we knew we could hand code into the files to fix for now until the demoloader gets its hooks done right.

    [/ QUOTE ]

That code for the custom jobs are now applied as a costume FX, rather than as an FX attached to the character/model, and can be found in the costume code. I tried a few weeks ago clipping the FX segment out of the costume code and trying it as a character FX and it didn't work for me.
  17. Stage 6 is another possibility, but may require some divx installs for viewers/uploaders.
  18. I haven't scrutinized it very closely (or gone digging to find out what all the inevitable catches and qualifications are), but this looked interesting when I stumbled across it:

    Vimeo HD.
  19. Hello,

I imagine many folks here already know me as the keeper of the CoH Codex for all your demo model, fxs, movs, and maps needs. I've been quietly working on adding some new features to it (for example, the visual list of models) and have some more ideas for it in the pipe that will hopefully get off the ground.

Haven't ever actually finished any movies (that I made public anyway). Lots of ideas, but my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Apart from the Codex, I've tossed out an occasional edited screenshot, but that's about it.

With the new activity generated by this board and the reappearance of some classic demo folks (Hi Balshor!), I'll also get an updated demo guides & tools list put together sometime soon.

    Real Numbers
As a general quality of life improvement we will be adding new functionality in a coming version of the game to display the “real” numbers behind your characters and their powers. This includes a user configurable display of important characteristics such as movement rate, regeneration rate, resistances and many more! Additionally, you will be able to see how those statistics are affected in real time by buffs and/or debuffs affecting your character.

    Thank you.
