  1. On a worthwhile tangent, the new Icon in Atlas Park has a phone that's always ringing.

It's worse than the siren in the police stations because there I'm usually clicking through some dialogs real quick. At the tailor I'm in there for a good while, trying out different pieces and such, and the phone becomes maddening (or if I hit mute, the silence becomes uncomfortable).
  2. What's the schedule for receiving Paragon Points and Reward Tokens when you subscribe to VIP status? The only stickies I found pointed to the site, which doesn't have that information.

I'm asking because I noticed I didn't get any new points after subscribing. I remember the tokens are supposed to be at the end of the billing cycle, but I thought the points were immediately applied.
  3. Just sharing my experience with a recent AMD Radeon, I have a 7770 and I generally average 30 FPS outdoors, 50+ for indoor missions, with everything on Ultra, except Shadows (High) and Ambient Occlusion (Balanced). Incarnate trials and a Hamidon raid fluctuate between 15 and 25 FPS.

I'm using the 12.3 drivers and I haven't crashed after hours of normal missions and even got through a phase of the Hamidon raid (I showed up late, start of the second bloom and pushed through the final bloom). I was hoping that making it through a Hamidon raid would have been a good litmus test for whether or not I could get through an Incarnate trial, before I re-subscribed.

However, Incarnate trials seem to randomly crash. Sometimes I can get through back-to-back trials, and sometimes I'll crash within the first five minutes of a trial. Sometimes I won't crash until the last half of a trial.

Update: Mothership Raid also crashed, I was there from the start and crashed like right before the shields went up. Or possibly I crashed because the shields came back up, I'm not sure.

Additionally, some UIs "twitch", especially the Incarnate Powers window. The window will flicker and sections of text and parts of icons will shift a few pixels off from the rest of the items in the window. For example, the top half of an icon will shift along with the top half of a line of text near it.

Since I have a new 7000-series I'm not sure if there are any drivers I can even roll back to, or if rolling back would make things worse since the card is so new.

  5. Did anyone else get points despite their subscription ending this month? (On the 19th to be precise.)

Not that I mind getting these points that I wasn't expecting... but... I'm not sure that was how it was supposed to work, since I'm not going to be subscribed from October to November.

I could pick a bunch of special effects-filled movies and constantly ask her if she can add an aura like whatever's on the screen.

And each and every aura shall be made because I will have practiced my begging.

Specifically send them outside, hopefully to get exposed to whatever's creating all these new heroes.
  8. Reporters would want to be the first to break awesome hero (or villain) news.

Scientists are in an environment with lots of weird phenomena and like-minded individuals.

Doctors, similarly, will probably be the first to discover new illnesses (or diagnose superpowers!) as well as possibly have access to (or a chance to help develop) state-of-the-art cures and medical procedures.

In fact, professors and students probably have similar motivations to the above: they get to be where the new discoveries are, the first people to teach or learn about something cutting-edge.

Some people might be politically motivated to support hero rights or try to reign them in, and thus pursue a political career in Paragon.

Others might want the prestige of running Statesman's favorite pizza place. Icon employees are no doubt proud of having had a hand in the costumes of various heroes.

And while it probably doesn't seem glamorous, it's probably a high-pressure, high-stakes business being in insurance in Paragon, no doubt with lots of interaction with government and hero organizations. Being the guy to do that might be seen as either a form of exile or some agents might request the assignment because they thrive on that kind of work.

And of course, there are the generations of people for whom Paragon is just home (perhaps even some grandparents who remember what Paragon was like before all that hero nonsense).

And to back up what AzureSkyCiel is saying about crime: the new phasing technology in Atlas Park lets you see the results of your heroics so that people aren't constantly being kidnapped/mugged/etc. on every street corner.

Good to know! Now I'm wondering why I thought the bonus points didn't count.

That's because "heroes" like Statesman don't have the strength to subdue the Hamidon, push back the Devouring Earth, and take a firm stance against crime. But do you know who does? Emperor Marcus Cole!

  11. I created a free account, logged in, and after choosing a server I clicked the Paragon Rewards icon. Current VIPs can't view the Premium rewards they've unlocked because there's not enough room in the UI for all that information. (So to see your Premium rewards you need to look it up on ParagonWiki or on a free account, like I did, or just wait to drop to Premium at which time your UI will show Premium unlocks instead of VIP.)

Your first purchase of points, regardless of the number of points, awards 1 token. So you could buy $5 of points and you'll get a token if it's your first purchase ever. This does not cost points to claim or anything, it's like a "thanks for shopping" reward. So a by-product, not a direct purchase.

Each purchase of 1200 points ($15) awards 1 token. So if you have never purchased points before and you spend $15 on points you will get 2 tokens. The 1200 points does NOT include bonus points from subscription (edit/fix: but does count bonus points from large points bundles?). These are kind of like... frequent flyer miles?

Also, all accounts (even free accounts) start with 1 token prior to spending any money.

So yes, $5 gets them tells, email, trade, and supergroups.
  12. Tells, supergroups, and mail are part of tier 2 which requires 2 tokens (which can be had for a single $5 purchase of points, since all accounts start at tier 1 with 1 token).

Broadcast and global chat channels are part of tier 3, which requires 5 tokens.

Edit: Ninja'd by Justice Blues. But only because I went to get screenshots. >,>

Drops, as well as sold by the vendors hanging around Atlas Park. (Yes, I buy training enhancements. I like them. I like them more than DOs because their names and icons make sense.)

Why on earth would anyone want to craft something that can be purchased for 100 to 500 inf depending on level? Crafting would be a more expensive process.
  14. It used to be that Bikini 2 and 3 had slightly different leg models to avoid clipping with certain slider settings and skirts.

Additionally, certain skirts like the Witch Skirt show some skin in the area where the upper and lower body costume pieces are divided, so Bikini 1 and 2 will show the bottom's strap(?) whereas Bikini 3's line is lower and completely hidden by the skirt.

(?) Am I using strap correctly? I don't know much about bikinis.

Claiming email has nothing to do with level. Sending email is dependent on account status (Premium or VIP) and level (10+).

Email can go in, but email can't come out. An RMT can't sell anything off of a free account. Perhaps the drop-trade system is like a shortcut version of the trade window, which is two-way, and thus disabling the trade window means disabling drop-trading. Or something.

Anyways, just claimed an email with attachment on a sub-10 character on my free account. This is good to know!
  16. A VIP subscriber is unlikely to want an unusuable trophy character, but a Premium would be fine with that because they can only have a limited number of active characters anyways. If they could refund a set after getting a few days of use out of it then they could then buy a different set, get their fun out of it, refund it, and buy a different set. Rinse, repeat. All on the same $10 investment.

Additionally, if refunding a power set merely locks characters with the set (instead of deleting them) then an account-seller could pad an account with one of every set for the price of one, and leave it up to the purchaser of the account to decide which ones to unlock.

On that note, and speaking in a general sense about no one in particular and about general business practices and not any company in particular:

Accounts tend to have some way for CS to keep notes about the customer. Often those are used to take note of any actions taken, like providing refunds. For completely legitimate reasons, or just a first-time issue, it's fine to do it. No reason to make someone upset and get unwanted attention for the issue over a single purchase.

It's when it becomes a repeat issue that you need to cut a bad customer loose because it doesn't matter if they've been shopping here for seven years if they use up more CS time/money than anyone else.

This happens to me, as well, when trying to purchase points in-game. As I'm about to finish telling PayPal to go through with the payment, NCSoft needs me to log in - which takes me away from PayPal, and thus PayPal discards the incomplete transaction meaning I have to start over again.

This can affect anyone using PayPal, even US accounts.

    Origins?

At level 25 your title options expand based on origin.

Mender Ramiel's arc has a slightly different description for the artifact you find based on your origin, too.

  23. I would buy this aura faster than I bought Volcanic Aura:

It looks just like my avatar except solid gold! I must have it! What must I do to get you to put it on the market?

Did I mention I want this?

(Oh - while I'm making a suggestion: if it is added, could the player version take two colors? One for the inner structure and particles, the other for the swirls/ring? Then I could recreate the star-forming cluster of NGC1097 on my fists! )

My 5750 gets 15 to 25 FPS in Atlas with those kinds of settings, so your 24-32 on a 5850 sounds about right. (Although you didn't mention your resolution. I suspect it's something like 1680x1050?)

My one problem used to be that Alt+Tab would sometimes crash CoH, but since installing 11.9 I can Alt+Tab frequently without issue.
