  1. For several reasons, I feel like painting a butterfly- or cat-themed character, and not mine own...

So... please post piccies and bios, etc. below! I'd LOVE to try my hand at a male character, but female characters are fine, too.

I do have a "we are orphans ourselves, and know how it feels" clause* - all other things being equal, I *much* prefer to do the portrait for a player with little or no existing art.

DA page in sig - please take a peek before posting, because my style is NOT comic-bookish and definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

I'll keep an eye on this thread for the next day or two, and pick my favorite(s).

*Bonus points for getting the reference!
  2. Update: The artist I mentioned HAS decided to do commissions, but she has no idea how to price them. To find out the ballpark she should aim for, she's making her first commission an auction.

    Here is her gallery:

  3. I really like that inking - it managed to keep a 'pencil' feel to it.

That's a link to a file on your computer.

You need to put it online before we can look at it.

I like the outfit and the concept. 2 thumbs up.

    Thanks for the kind words!

Hmm, reminds me of Jun of the Gatchaman anime series... or as we use to know it, "G-Force!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not a bad comparison at all.

Very cool manip. I like the eyes, especially. I envy those wings.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thanks! The eyes are actually fish eyes, as is the jewel on her chest.

    Maxwell Equator

This time, a quickie photomanip of my blaster - Maxwell Equator, on the Virtue server.

She's a 1930s pulp heroine who was catapulted to the present day when the wave manipulation suit she invented overloaded.

    The photomanip

What she looks like in game.

I don't usually call my pieces photomanips, since the process is considerably more complicated than that... however, this one IS an out-and-out, blatant, twenty minute Photoshop quickie where I 'cheated' and layered things on top of a screenshot used as the base.
  9. I thought this would be an appropriate thread for this heads-up...

One of my favourite DA character portraitists is considering taking commissions.

Am I alone in drooling? Hopefully a bunch of interested people will convince her to take the plunge.
  10. Agreed on The Stuff of Dreams. Best CoX comic I've read, period. I was absolutely certain it would win first place. Shows what I know.

My second favorite was the hilarious Adventures of Johnny Rapid. I had tears in my eyes from laughter, the first time I saw it.

As for my own comic (linked in .sig), I keep telling myself there was an e-mail problem. I was one of the folks who never received a confirmation letter.

Edit: Pssst! Bagheera! You linked to the cover of Stuff of Dreams, and not the full comic.
  11. Congrats to the winners! And I LOVE Wombat's pieces (I'm somewhat fonder of the second one with Abby on petals, but they're both extraordinary works).
  12. I quite like the bold inking.

The pose is also interesting. If you turn this into a series of pictures, you might want to take a peek at fencing web sites for reference pictures.

Make her a lesbian as well and you just covered half of the Virtue population!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Too true. Sadly (?), Tear's straight as an arrow.

We have to stick a pirate, ninja, robot, monkey in there somewhere...

    [/ QUOTE ]

True story: Last night I tried to create a robot ninja pirate named 'robot ninja pirate'. The creature would run off of the antimatter-like reactions between its ninja and pirate bits.

Unfortunately, the name was already taken on Virtue.

Now, Robot ninja demon pirate monkey... hrm...

Thanks to all for the comments.

may, possibly, at some point, find her way into my sketchbook

  15. Thanks! I'm glad someone else likes it.

It's... interesting to find a costume that still looks good under the dark armor toggles.
  16. Someone kindly offered to sketch my scrapper, and I decided I'd share her costumes with y'all. Since I could.

She's a were-vampire escaped science experiment goddess servant magical bloodline undead-hating teenage emo catgirl who goes by the heroic alias 'Tearfur', and isn't herself sure whether to pronounce it 'Tear fur' or 'Tearful minus the 'l''.

    Thanks for the compliments.

I'm moving cities and shifting to a new long-term job in the next two weeks, so I won't be able to finish much art until I'm settled.

(I was eager to finish the berry before I left.)

Thanks to both of you for the kind words.
  19. Moira McTaggert and Spider-Man for me.

Moira: You want a nerdy scientist girl who can make you feel safe. She's also Scottish which means hot accent.

Spidey: Spider-Man is perfect for you. He's totally nerdy and always cracking jokes. And cute! A date at the museum or a movie would be right up his alley. Don't expect to spend the whole evening together though, Spider-Man's known for ducking out early.

    I sense a pattern. @.@

Runners-up were Lois Lane, Kitty Pryde, Beast and Doc Strange.

For all the art DB has received, there's one piece I thought was missing...

    (Links to DA page.)
  21. I'm not on the City of Artists site. Partly because my focus is on non-CoX work, and partly because due to an interesting coincidence my DA name is the same as the forum/in-game name of a popular Virtueite. I thought it best to avoid confusion.

That said, my DA link is in my sig, and I intend to have some CoH related tribute work up shortly. If I can get it done before moving next week.
