  1. I hadn't played in absolutely forever, so the tactical advice is appreciated. My problem was that I was opening with tar patch and tenebrenous Tentacles to keep the group clustered before opening up with a Fearsome Stare, which was why I was taking so much damage.

  3. Alright, back from class. Some interesting feedback here.

    1. I have roughly 100 million inf on hand, possibly more if I sell a pair of purple IOs I've been hoarding.
    2. My experience with dark was very similar to Tenzhis, to where I was soloing elite bosses at level 30, after which things become a lot less solo-able.
    3. My character is technology origin, which is why he has Black Scorpion as a Patron instead of Ghost Widow. I'm pretty set on taking either Mace Mastery or Dark Mastery as my epic pool because of that.

You'll solo just fine; dark/dark corr's are pretty good.
    That all sounds incredibly expensive.
  5. Urm, I can't remember where my slots are, but I can tell you what powers I currently have:

Whole Dark Blast set but Dark Pit, and Torrent
Whole Dark Miasma set but Black Hole

    Combat jumping/Superjump
    Swift/health/stamina
Scorpion Shield, Focused Accuracy, Web Cocoon, Summon Disruptor

I've got a reasonable amount of influence on hand, but nothing extravagant.
  6. With the Incarnate system, I felt like finally settling down and playing my First 50 again. And it is PAINFUL. Sable Tentacle is a Dark/Dark corruptor, and I've been messing around with him again for the first time in a while, but not really making any progress. I tend to feel like dead weight on teams even with all the debuffs I can throw out, and soloing is out of the question.

With incarnates coming out, and inherent fitness, i think it's time to respec him up to snuff again, but I don't really know where to start! So, what do you guys think of dark/dark? Is there anything salvageable here?
  7. My Huntswoman is human, albeit with a magical trinket that allows her to turn her shots into seeking bullets, and a curse that drives her to drink blood. She's a fairly loyal soldier of arachnos, as she doesn't really have high aspirations of power, just a desire to live in luxury with good food, wine, and the opportunity to put bullets through people's (and demon's) skulls.

As you might know if you check out the other threads, I'm considering starting up a Widow who defects from arachnos to start her own organization, with a bee-hive theme instead of a spider one. I'm not sure if I'm going to give her minor bee-themed mutations or if her powers are all body-mods and bio-grafts she's had installed.
  8. Neat. So it's not really a matter of making it fit canon, it's what threads of canon to tie it too.
  9. I'm thinking of finally dipping a toe into the EAT pool and making a Widow on Virtue, but I'm not really sure where to start. I wanted to know several things before I rolled her up, though:

    1. The concept of the character is for the widow to be bee-themed, a widow with psionic powers that give her a strong mental presence in other's minds, making them want to obey her commands. Her power steadily overtook everyone in her base, giving them a sort of linked hive-mind with her at the center. Enamored with her own abilities, she decides to break free of just being a standard Arachnos soldier and become a Destined One. Does this beat-down canon in any exceptionally eye-rolling way, or would you RP with this character without your suspension of disbelief being strained?

    2. I was thinking of trying to use Dual builds to give this character a 'Queen Bee' and a 'Soldier Bee' build, Fortunata and Night Widow respectively, with the Fortunata being all psychic power and the Night widow being all claws. Is it possible to do this, or is it difficult to slot/play?
  10. Alright. I will run through this with my three level 50s, two villains and one hero.

Sable Tentacle, freakshow cyborg, dark/dark corruptor
Lil' Red Hood, Family leader, Mercs/Traps mastermind
Demon Slayer Yuki, Anime cliche, Katana/Will scrapper.

The cell walls are made of a highly durable, but not indestructible material, and on each adjacent cell, there is a stockpile of explosives, set to go off if there is a breach. There is no cell above you, and the cell below you has a drugged spikes class and regeneration class mutant, who has no allegiance to either you or I.
Depending on how thorough AI has been, all of my characters may be neutralized at this point. Without their equipment, my characters will be helpless, and removing Red's stockpile of gadgets and Yuki's Katana is eminently sensible. Detaching Sable Tentacles arms and legs is less obvious and more cruel, but would render him unable to escape. A less drastic method of disabling his feet-pistons and the dark matter reactor in his arms will leave him able to move about his cell freely, but still neutralized as a threat.

Sable is in more mortal peril than the others, as he lacks a support network to enact a rescue plan, unlike Red and Yuki.
  11. Hmm. Small reference pools, but the only thing the cutscene reminds me of is the satan-banishment from that Jack Black Tenacious-D movie and Ganon being banished at the end of LoZ.

Here's a boss fight for a character that doesn't deserve it (Not even level 20 yet) but I've been playing a lot lately: Kolkuthka, my volcano-goddess Earth/Fire Dom.

The battle against her is pretty much 'as normal', taking place in a donut shaped arena with a big lava pit in the center. During the course of the fight boss-class stone Tiki heads spawn at the corners of the arena. They announce themselves with
[NPC] Lava Totem: THE GODDESS DEMANDS A SACRIFICE!
and then start casting a single-target version of Wormhole, using it to stun a player and drop them into the lava pit. The cast time of the spell is very slightly longer than Recall Friend and has a distinct signature on the person about to be sacrificed, so quick action by someone with that power can save someone from taking more than a few ticks of damage. Alternatively, while a small orange won't save you, a medium or large orange will stop the teleport effect (But not the stun).

Kolkuthka attacks as a normal earth/fire enemy, until she reaches 50% health. At that point, she starts using a special 'Voice of the Goddess' power, which is an amped up Invoke Panic.

Other stuff that might be added to make the encounter harder (or easier)
    • Giving Lava Totems healing or buffing powers to use on Kolkuthka if she's near them
    • A big sacrificial altar up at the far side of the arena, which lets a player can activate to instantly defeat all the Lava Totems at the cost of being defeated yourself
    • Kolkuthka can also cast Sacrifice
    • Any hero that is defeated and in the lava pit grants a buff on all totems and Kolkuthka

Yikes, that's an incredibly difficult sounding fight.

    Edit to avoid double-post:

One of my characters is a Family-themed Mastermind. I have a 'gimmick' for her fight in mind, but I don't have a way that it could be implemented that would make the fight interesting rather than just annoying...

Essentially, I would want her to have either attached to her attacks or as a separate ability, a power that stacks very low-mag, very long-duration confuse effects on targets. The effect would be called 'Extortion', or 'Intimidation', or 'Bribery'. Essentially, aggro needs to be juggled around, otherwise the ticks will build up and stick the target with a long-duration confuse, complete with red "LOYALTY COMPROMISED" text popping up over their head.
  14. Neat. I'll do one of mine then:

Sable Tentacle is a dark/dark corruptor, who uses arm-blasters to create his powers. His AV fight would involve him plugging his arms into a big machine and overcharging it with dark matter. The entirety of the fight he'd have protection from repel, knockback, and would be immobilized, essentially turning him into a big AV turret.

The big gimmick of the fight would be that occasionally he would charge up a giant cone of blasty doom, snipe-attack style. The heroes would have to take cover behind convenient pillars or walls to avoid eating a truly massive amount of negative energy.
  15. Sequestration. Lord Recluse's towers. Director 11's bombs. Protean's energy drain. The war-walker orbital lasers, and Battle Maiden's nanoswords. For good or ill, the end-game encounters are getting more complicated, requiring more teamwork than before.

Here's a hypothetical situation: You've become so famous, so awesome, and your character backstories are so cool that the Devs have decided to put a character of your choice into the game as a boss encounter. What can they do that separates them from a normal elite boss or archvillain? What special mechanics are in play during their fight?

I have to echo the 'Why?' sentiments here. I didn't have a problem soloing Trapdoor the bullheaded way without any tricks, but while there is a 'well, you can't be helped' threshold for people being unable to complete the encounter, sneaky things like pulling him away from his bifurcations help people who will have trouble otherwise.

I only regret that I wasn't able to get this out in a timely manner when there where still concerns that the alpha-slot was going to be unachievably grindy.

Apologies to Nethergoat if he's offended by his inclusion in this song.
  18. The whole idea of the Judgement Slot excites me, but I do hope there is a decent range of abilities, at least as many as the general ancillaries. Cold, Electricity, Fire, Force, Munitions, Psionic, Stone, Dark, Energy, and 'weapon'.

Might be unreasonable or pie in the sky, but that's what I hope for.

... Then again, Propel does fit the manic spirit of dresdenverse combat.

We definitely are looking for female players - even people who play female toons.
Male roleplayer who's considering rolling a female pagan god character answering in with as series of questions.

    1. Are you basing the metaphysics of the fey on mythology as presented in the Dresden Files, and will you be making alterations and retconning things as the new books come out? I'm a fan of the series, but it sometimes takes me a while to purchase and read each new book.

    2. How active are the channel-members required to be, and will they be removed from the channel if they do not meet certain activity level requirements? I have an awful lot of other alts that I like to play as, so something involving a significant time investment isn't for me.

    3. What sort of stories and plotlines can we be expected to undergo, have already occurred, or are ongoing?

    4. Are you requesting female-roleplayers, female characters, or both?
  22. I'd say this qualifies as a 'weird backdoor' in and of itself... I can see a few things wrong with this.

    1. Toggles can cause a backpack item to appear, like the jetpacks, but can they add the extra 'limbs' that are animated through the Crab powers?

    2. It would cause horrible clipping unless you also somehow disallowed it with a cape, wing, or any other back-mounted item.
  23. One of my coveted level 50 characters started life as a simple 'I want to play a scrapper right now, I'll delete her later when I'm bored.'

Well, the 'slapdash construction' of the poor girl led to... some costume errors. The most notable one being that I played with her height and proportions a little, but forgot to mess with the chestslider. As a result, she's ridiculously well-proportioned for her age (I learned from the mistake with further characters, but by the time I was able to fix it on Yuki, she was well-established as being well-endowed as an RP trait, so I left it in).
On the other hand, I did deliberately max the breastslider on one of my ladies, since she's a cowgirl of the bovine variety, and dairy cow jokes did abound. Was one of my favorite jokey characters for a long time.

So I've played characters at every point on the boobscale and I haven't EVER had anyone call me out on it, or refuse to RP with me because of it (They've refused on grounds of more reasonable things, like good taste...). So, I think you're just plain unlucky to have to deal with someone who's sensibilities are so finely tuned to the booben of pixels.

Also, the side-effect of floating into the air and flopping around in the Soul Storm Hold animation would also be a problem. You'd spill the rest of your drink.
  25. I actually have an earth/storm, so I'm well-aware of the effects that the cages can have. I only picked the single target for that reason, it's to spam on single fast, melee-centric enemies like warwolves and force them to stay in the quicksand.

I've been seeing a tendancy to pick up the Leadership line of stuff in exchange for Fitness being an inherent. I wonder if we can find more people branching out and trying things like Stealth, Fighting, or Presence...
