At least *i* worked hard at changing things up when i was inflicting youthful trauma. i mostly focused on using double-reverse psychology to convince peers to do things that they knew were a bad idea anyway. The best was using logical fallacies like false binary choices to Xanatos Gambit them into it.

Quote:Pro tip: When superleaping do not stare at your feet the entire time. Looking up before (and forward while) leaping can lead to longer leaps before slamming into a window or wall.I am not worried, I am well covered by the ledge I keep banging my head into as I jump.
Superleap reduces falling damage distance by the maximum height you can leap. Just stepping off a ledge that's below your max jump height does no damage when you land. Of course that's based on the total distance from the the highest point you were at before landing. If you can leap 100' and you drop 160' feet from your highest point you take the damage of a 60' fall. So if you'd jumped up 50' and landed on a point 110' below your starting point it's still the equivalent of a 60' fall. Simple.v -
Quote:Yes.Let me say upfront that I have no complaints about Praetoria, but I want to be sure that I am understanding it correctly. Can anyone answer a couple of questions?
Quote:1) The point of Praetoria is new content? You get to move your toon from lvl 1 to 20 with content you haven't gotten tired of? (And you get to play with the opposite-side ATs)
Quote:2) Once you hit 20, what happens? Do you choose a side and go? I don't think you stay in Praetoria.
Quote:3) If you make a Praetorian and do not want to stay there (meaning move to blue or red sooner) is it possible to leave and not go back?
Quote:Thanks! -

Quote:It's 60.IF the account is in active, and for some reason the Gms won't help (but they've helped in the past) at most 30(?) days wait for the auto-return function to kick in.
Might be 60.
OP, contacting a GM is the best thing to do. With any luck you'll have your inf back soon.
What's the significance of the name Rutterkin that multiple people would want it?
You could change your global name xXxRutterkinxXx. (i always mentally pronounce "xXx" and similar variants as a sort of rasping throat clearing noise. It makes those names much more fun to read.) -
Quote:Interesting. Unsurprisingly enough i look forward to seeing this in action. In the standard game I would tend to agree for the most part: force multiplication is the reward for less solo ability in the standard game. In the end game, however, that argument carries zero weight, because no advantage or disadvantage in the standard game should dictate the specifics of encounter design in the end game, or in special case content (i.e. Hamidon, LRSF, STF, etc). The rules for balance are different in the two kinds of content, which makes it illegitimate to cross over advantages and disadvantages without review.
Put directly, if force multiplication is too high in the end game, then it gets balanced out, period. Whatever anyone paid to have force multiplication in the standard game, their reward was using it in the standard game. Their money is no good in the end game. To treat things any differently is to invite intractable game design problems. Solo specialists can still be solo specialists, and force multipliers can still be force multipliers, but recalibrated to the new end game requirements. Part of having a clear distinction between end game content and just more level 50 content is to specifically provide for this renormalization in complexity, difficulty, and balance levels.
(On a slightly related note: Gah! Why did Paragon Studios have to take a week off just after i received something? Oh well, i can wait until Monday...) -
Quote:Also keep in mind that Paragon Studios is closed until after the new year, so i'm not sure how much TheOcho will be around. NCsoft support should still be up and running, so i wouldn't give up on or ignore that route to resolving the issue in the meantime.Thank you all for your help on this matter. I've sent a PM to theOcho, and made sure my friend would try calling the billing support instead of just the E-mail support.
I told him about the nefarious bit too.
Hopefully we can go back to righting wrongs and dishing out vigilante justice once more soon. -

i expect the next round of free transfers will happen by the time the next paid expansion is released. Quite possibly before then.

Quote:i thought EM only had an AoE in Whirling Hands.I don't understand EM/SD scrapper as overrated.
If I ask in the forums what is the best overall ST damage scrapper, I will generally get DM/SD. If I ask in the forums what is the best overall AOE damage scrapper, I will generally get EM/SD.
If each of those live up to their expectation, then what is overrated about them? If you want one that does ST and AOE equally well you will probably get an entirely different answer.
I wanted an AOE beast and EM/SD is most definetly that and then some. And btw, after my three AOE's have been fired, I can 3-4 shot most any boss and move on. Bosses are not a problem for me. (for the record, there are some bosses that give me fits, just as there are exceptions for any toon type)
For me, fire/kin ranks up there. I had one for quite awhile. For certain foes, he was superb. For most others, he was just average. But if I was just looking for a farmer then the fire/kin would be the best for that without question. Again, IMO.
Perhaps it comes down to our personal definitions of "Overhyped". -

It is a decent alpha strike absorber. i've taken it as an alpha absorber and occasional panic button that requires no slotting.

Well the Hamidon seems to be fine with moving through both land and water, with something of a preference for land, so i doubt it makes much difference to him whether there are waterways as long as the sonic fence is in place.

Quote:And the Egyptians, Babylonians, Persians, Chinese, Ashanti, Indians, and most other nations, kingdoms and tribes throughout recorded history... (With the notable exception of the groups who practiced total annihilation of any foes who were defeated or captured. At least they didn't practice slavery. While the statement was meant to largely be a joke, many of you seem to be forgetting that Romans are dead white European males.
Opposition to slavery as a common moral stance is quite recent in recorded history.)

Quote:i agree. While i know people who are big fans of PvP and fun people to play with, the majority of people i've encountered in PvP zones, or who blatantly advertised a preference for PvP, have been unpleasant people. Whether or not they're better at PvP ("1337") is irrelevant since they tend to be even less pleasant when they lose. The former, to an extent. The latter, not so much. I don't think the arguments against PvP nearly so much overlapped with the min/maxing and grinding side of things. The people who didn't want to do it mostly objected to what they perceived as the confrontational and unfriendly personalities of the people in PvP zones, and their perceived willingness to relentlessly "abuse" those less skilled than them.
In other words, I only see some very superficial comparisons, on either side of the debate.
The thing is that, like virtually every other part of the game, Incarnate content like the Tin Mage 2 TF doesn't require that every member of the team be good at playing, or even to contribute significantly. That's not to say that i would be accepting of someone sitting at the door for the whole TF. i don't expect every teammate to be "1337" (or even competent), but i do expect them to try. -
Quote:Eh, how is offering a reward they'll never have to give something that requires a dare? Not to mention that it'll just be incentive to leave the forums as they are.I think it should be like this:
Whoever can go for FOURTEEN DAYS without being auto-logged off of the Forums wins Immunity, er, I mean unlocks the Alpha Slot for all existing and future level 50 characters (never have to do that arc again) and for each day they remain un-auto-logged off the forums thereafter, a shard!
I double dog dare the devs to do this. -

Quote:Not a bad thought.I don't even run Placate anymore. The amount of dmg you can do in the amount of time it would take to activate placate is greater than the amount of extra dmg that would get from the partial crit (for ST at least). Infact I actually picked up Confront instead and have enjoyed having that on my widow quite a bit, especially for tanking Recluse on the STF with it
Yeah, i mostly just use Placate before hitting Spin or Eviscerate, and when fighting large groups it's almost better to just use it for Spin since enemies are more likely to move out of Eviscerate's cone if i use Placate just before it.
Confront's not a bad idea. She tends to be less squishy than some (most?) of her teammates. Although Teleport is tempting as well. -
Quote:My Widow is also Cardiac. Currently using Cardiac Core Boost for the extra range in addition to the endurance reduction. Two ranged AoE attacks, two melee AoE attacks and double Assault combined with 75% Global recharge can be a bit of an end hog, but nothing compared to my Crab Spider's "all ranged AoE, all the time" build. Who also went Cardiac Core Boost. With Cardiac slotted i have to really go all out to drain my endurance bar, so naturally i usually do.Cardiac for my widow. Like every other widow player, I went for high recharge to get ML perma. As a result of her attacks recharging so fast, she's a bit of an endurance hog. This is with some +rec/end proc IOs slotted. Cardiac definitely helped a lot on that front.
Not having to pay much attention to the blue bar in the absence of autohit recovery and endurance debuffs is nice.
Just for the hell of it here's the build my Widow is using:

Quote:Only in the last several centuries, and were hardly the only ones to be forging chains even then. And before that they were far, far more likely to be in the chains than the ones forging them. Well, the live European males. Most of the time the chains are removed from the dead ones. They also do a lousy job at forging them when dead. Dead people, regardless of origin or gender, are terrible workers.Well, he'd know. Dead white European males forged most of those chains.

Quote:Okay then, maybe it's more accurate to say "many people have figured it out." That better? What I actually said was that I had not beaten it without playing one of my own Dark Miasma characters, and that my experience belied the claim that the ITF was "easy now that everyone's figured it out".
None of what you seem to think is necessary is other than doing the TF often enough to get an understanding of what works and a feeling for which approach to use for any given run. Now the way i learned that was by teaming with people who had already figured it out. i'm not especially gifted with knowing the numbers, especially on the fly, but i can easily observe what works, deduce why it works, and then try it out for myself. Joining both good and bad teams running TFs helps me to understand it even better. It's mostly a matter of observation and learning from the mistakes of myself and others. (Also paying attention to the successes.) Not rocket surgery, just patience and an interest in learning. (i suppose a small amount of brain science isn't a bad thing, though.)
