Only a couple purple sets are really worth six slotting. Generally i use 5 slots on the rare occasion i use a purple set. Most of the time i build around set bonuses i'm looking for ones that the majority of purple sets don't supply, like defense.

Who or what is it really?

(Yes, while entertained by some of the posts here i've stopped doing more than skimming the OP's posts except when i occasionally reread a post closely to make sure it really said what i thought it said because i usually cannot believe anyone capable of writing a coherent sentence would write such a thing, but otherwise i've been mostly musing about the Op's avatar until i get to the next post.)

Ack! You're right! Mea culpa. Still, i somehow doubt people who were on the verge of quitting RIGHT NAO stuck it out for another six months waiting for the surprise announcement of free server transfers*.

Unless they're like several people in the forums who announce that they've canceled their subscriptions every time a new issue is about to come out because it didn't contain everything they wanted, and yet are still complaining on the forums the next month and every month after.

*Time travelers might do that, but then they're only messing with us because they already know that they're going to be staying anyway. Time travelers can be such jerks.

Do you still love your Fire tank and think it is "one of the fastest ways to 50"?

Do Spines/Regen Scrappers still make you want to rip into a villain?

Is your Fire/Kin Troller always the leader of your team and do fight with him while others doorsit because you are just that good?

What do you consider to be the classics and do you find them just as fun as you did years ago?
MA/SR is a classic that's still fun to play despite not having any particular synergy.

Truth be told, while i play almost none of my original characters anymore i still like some of the classic combos like Claws/Dark Scrappers or Dark/Ice Defenders.

Dump all the mana into infinitely plinking everything your opponent has with a Paralyzed Prodigal Sorcerer during your upkeep. (Devoting a few points to your opponent of course.)
It wasn't that long after i built a Blue/Black/white deck around that and Armageddon Clocks combined with CoP: Artifact that they changed the rules for Nether Shadows to negate the loop. Ah, memories.

While leveling through Praetoria, I have come to dislike Marcus Cole. Even my Loyalist toon dislikes him. But with decision time fast approaching, how do I reconcile the fact that Marcus Cole (evil bad bad man!) is also Statesman (awesome Superhero)? I really don't want to be a villain, but unless I can pull some justification outta my tush, I'll be forced to do it.

    Help me!
Praetoria and Primal Earth are different dimensions that were basically identical with some divergences that widened rapidly early in the twentieth century.

Marcus Cole of Praetoria is known as Emperor Cole and is also called Tyrant by some.
Marcus Cole of Primal Earth is widely known by the name Statesman.

There are many characters who have counterparts in both Praetoria and Primal Earth. Consider them as being sort of like identical twins that live in different dimensions. They may have started out nearly identical, but growing up in different worlds has made them into different people.

The matter has been passed to Black Scorpion and the powers team for comment on if WoC's behavior is Working as Intended or if there is indeed a bug in the damage component not disabling Stealth on damage initiation.

    Have a nice day deary.
Okay... i fail to see your point.
"Intend to do"? Well, nothing at all. i mean it's never been a secret that World of Confusion's damage is flagged to not generate aggro and it has been mentioned in the forums many times in the past. If Black Scorpion does change that it won't affect me in the slightest since even without aggro it's hardly worth using a power pick on unless it's slotted with procs or used as a set mule.

However, i am more than willing to try to find exploits with the power not generating aggro. On my Blaster that's not so likely all things considered, but i'm considering a few Controller builds.

That said, i can understand you feeling the need to crow about any sort of minor victory, so feel free to do so if Black Scorpion does see things your way. i'll even pretend to be crestfallen if it helps.

Edit: i mean, you did notice that i linked to the description in City of Data and pointed out that it's listed as not notifying mobs, yes? Do you seriously think i'm trying to hide an "exploit" by repeatedly and openly discussing it? An "exploit" that has been the object of discussion many times in the past? i think it's cute that you believe that the Devs are completely unaware of how a power that was created relatively recently works. Especially considering how much discussion and debate about its usefulness there was when it was introduced.

i suspect i've spotted the term that's being misapplied when used in reference to Durakken.
Seriously, there's no point in discussing/debating/arguing anything with him when he's made up his mind about something no matter how wrong his assumptions are. Most of the time he doesn't even bother moving the goalposts, he just starts trying to use more and more bizarre and nonsensical analogies and similes as justification. At least when someone moves the goalposts it means they realized their original assumption was incorrect and just won't admit it. When someone just keeps using more and more contorted and bizarre logic to justify the same error it means there's no possibility of progress or learning on their part. Just let it go.

Wait, is he playing the flute and smoking meth at the same time? Now that's multitasking!

Funny thing related new flight animations: back shortly before Power Slide was made available in game my flying electrical blaster used to to use the Power Slide animation for a few seconds after zoning. It looked like sky surfing. Add a disk under the feet and it's hoverboarding.

I looked at my confuse power set up, and all they ahve are ACC and Confuse duration IOs, so no procs. And yet I have experienced some mobs aggroing me after they get over the confuse, yet there is no consistency over them.

One of the more common mobs that tends to do this to me are Clockwork Knights, but then again, its not every time.

I suspect that perhaps as their confuse fades, if another clockwork strikes them while under my influence, they are viewed in a manner similar to an MM's pets are viewed as, and thus I get the aggroe. Not sure if this is the case, as I said, the event is not consistent, but I see this as fun challenge and keeps me on my toes.

    Stormy
i've seen anomalies like that on occasion, but so rarely that it's hard to verify or reproduce. Furry_Saint's issue sounds like it's a frequent occurrence, but in an hour's testing i couldn't get it to happen.

i'd need to know more about the enemy factions and slotting where this is happening to test more.

Eh, as long as you don't mention [videogame] or [other videogame] or [any other videogame at all] it's not so bad. And that's only on the forums. (Which do seem to have become less frequented overall.) In the game itself it's just the same as ever, only better.

Wait, the free transfers were 18 months ago?! Damn, time flies. i mean, obviously free transfers couldn't have been much more recent that that since free transfers weren't announced until shortly before being made available and people who are on the verge of quitting because the game is dying would obviously have quit long before free transfers were given out if they were given more than a month or three later.

    *checks Paragon Wiki*

Huh, Issue 18 was released on 16th of August 2010 and free transfers were made available right around then. That's a a bit less than five months ago. So you're saying that people who were about to quit 18 months ago hung on another 13 months waiting for free transfers that no one knew were coming until Issue 18 launched? (In fact almost all Dev statements regarding server transfers prior to Going Rogue made free transfers sound like a very unlikely thing due to the work involved in doing transfers.)

    Quote:
I don't know how much money they make from selling transfers, but I doubt it's worth as much as extending the longevity of this game. IMHO, they should have free transfers all the time. If there's a game breaking way to abuse this function, they can limit it to 1 move per week or something.
While i don't think making free transfers standard would have much affect on the game's longevity i wouldn't mind getting more free transfers, but for exactly the opposite reason you apparently have. Most of my alts rarely get played much after 50 and free transfers allow me to move the ones i rarely play to other servers to free up room for new alts on my favorite servers. That, and i didn't quite get around to seeding every server with a 50 or two during the free transfer period. Having 50s on every server allows me to team with friends doing any content on any server, and i've made global friends who play on almost every server at various times.

Edit: Completely forgot the first free transfers were at the beginning of 2010. My mistake. Six months, not 13.

Neither had i, but since Furry_Saint was apparently experiencing an issue with Deceive causing aggro i decided to do some testing of my own.

So far it seems to work like it always has, causing no aggro, and that was with testing every non aggro generating confuse power i could think of testing under a variety of conditions.

Of course attacking a confused mob with an aggro generating power puts you on their aggro list, but neither they nor their allies are affected until the confused mob is no longer confused.

All Defender sets do well in teams.
In my experience Dark Miasma, Radiation Emission, Traps, and Storm Summoning primaries also solo pretty easily. My preferred secondaries would be Dark, Sonic, Archery, Psi, and Assault Rifle. Energy Blast is another i like, but i haven't played it very high yet on a Defender. Your preference may vary.

The only logical and fair workaround is free server transfers on a somewhat regular basis.

  23. More testing:
Level 20 ill/TA Controller spent about 30 minutes using Deceive with Superior Invisibility both on and off against +0 to +2 con mobs both inside missions and around Talos. Result: No aggro when Deceive wore off.

Level 31 Mind/Thorns Dom spent a similar amount of time using Confuse on -2 to +1 level enemies inside missions and around Nerva. Result: No aggro when Confuse wore off.

The only times i drew aggro while testing was when i moved within perception ronge of mobs. In fact several times in a mission on my Controller i drew aggro, ran away until aggro dropped, moved back to just outside aggro range and used Deceive. Still no aggro after Deceive wore off.

At this point my conclusion is that the confuse powers Deceive, Confuse, and World of Confusion alone still do not generate aggro. Deceive and Confuse had never done so for me since about June 2004, so that was not a surprise.

World of Confusion not generating aggro was also not a surprise since it had been that way since it was introduced by every report and my previous experiences. In my opinion it's still a less than optimal power pick unless it's slotted with procs or as a set mule, but that's also par for the course.
  24. Okay, respecced into World of Confusion on my 43 AR/Mental Blaster.
Spent 20 minutes running around Perez Park seeing how mobs reacted.
If WoC's damage defeated a mob the rest of the spawn would aggro and run or attack.
If mobs were confused and damaged, but not defeated, none of them aggroed during exposure and damage, and none aggroed after confusion wore off.
Tested on: Skulls, Hellions, CoT and Hydra.

Moving on to Talos to test on Freaks, Warriors, Tsoo, et al.
Same results on Freaks, Tsoo, Warriors, Winter Horde... No aggro from damage or confuse as long as i didn't defeat the mobs.

Moved on to Founders' Falls to test on upper thirties enemies, especially level 39. Winter Horde, DE, CoT and Crey.

Side note: Mobs defeated by other mobs did not cause aggro as long as another mob did the final hit regardless of how much damage World of Confusion did first.

Additional note: Level 39 enemies defeated by other confused mobs but damaged by WoC first gave rewards, so the damage done by WoC does count as player damage that does not generate aggro.

Also: This is tedious and brawling enemies to death is still better xp/hr than stealth defeating with WoC.

Conclusion: Shockingly enough, je_saist is wrong. World of Confusion does not cause aggro as long as the user does not defeat those damaged or confused by WoC.
