Not necessarily. He was distinguishing between sentience and direction. Someone or something can be directed by internal drives without necessarily being sentient. Army ant colonies can be viewed as being directed in their hunt for food, but they're not sentient.

For whatever reason the Well has become more active in our region of the universe. Something has stirred it up.

It's certainly preferable to having soldiers always run around in a frothing rage.

i suppose i should point out that there was no redside (Issue 6, 31 October 2005) for Warshades (Issue 3, 4 January 2005) to belong to when the Kheldians were created. While they could have shelved Warshades and added them as Nictus some time after City of Villains went live, it certainly looks as if the whole point was to offer two different playstyles with the new ATs, and to emphasize the concept of redemption and to reinforce the theme that dark is not evil.

Also, keep in mind that City of Villains was treated as a separate game for years after it went live and the only direct interaction with City of Heroes characters was in PvP zones.

Not to mention that VEATS and the coding that allowed branching powersets was added much later anyway. Suggesting that they should have introduced the EATS with blueside having Longbow and Peacebringers, and redside having SOAs and Nictus is completely ignoring the timeline of when the various ATs and factions were added to the game.

Not exactly. Unlike wings it would require changing the power animations for Fly and Hover, so it would be a bit more complicated, but it should be entirely doable, and i think it could be implemented as a costume piece.

If you add all those up, you'll have the real number of unhidden matches.

I don't play on Triumph, but I made some toons there just now for the sake of seeing what the actual numbers look like:
Blue: 281 not hiding from searches.
Red: 114 not hiding from searches.
Gold: 35 not hiding from searches.

    To compare to Freedom:
Blue: 772 not hiding from searches.
Red: 374 not hiding from searches.
Gold: 117 not hiding from searches.

Like Forbin said though, nobody was disputing it's a lower population.

Then again, it looks like Freedom is really only 3 times higher than what Triumph has right now, so it can't be all that bad on the lower Population servers. It's not as much of a difference as people make it seem. People are probably just not trying hard enough. lol
    D'oh! Forgot about that.

But yeah, even on the lower population servers i don't have issues finding teams if i want them. Also, leveling up alts on new servers is easy, especially if it's one of the more populous.

Quite true. i tend to get more tells asking if i'm looking for a team on the lower population servers. Of course i also tend to play in the PM for the US and don't normally use /hide.

Triumph is definitely not desolate, but playing in the weekday morning by US time on US servers tends to result in fewer teammates being available even on the most populous servers. The average player has school or a job to go to at that time.
  13. i've killed multiple keyboards just through overuse and occasional spillage. Currently i found a source for cheap wired Microsoft keyboards, which is damn handy since a wireless keyboard usually doesn't work well for tweaking BIOS settings. Also, they tend to be more reliable and outlast the wireless keyboards.

For some reason Microsoft's wireless keyboards and mice work badly (at best) with Windows 7. Amusingly Logitech's wireless mice work just fine. As do corded keyboards. When i did a search i found a post from a Microsoft rep explaining how erratic and sluggish mouse response after a while was a low priority fix for Windows programmers. i guess writing reliable drivers for officially branded hardware is a low priority for Microsoft, but a much higher priority for companies that actually rely on selling the hardware as their main source of revenue.

That might work if they sharpen some sort of generic dagger, but imagine the headaches of having to code a separate animation for each weapon model in each powerset that has the edge of the weapon in a different location.

Well, it is one of the slower servers.
Just did a quick search of the three sections of Triumph and got these results for unhidden totals:
Blue: 50 not hiding from searches.
Red: 50 not hiding from searches.
Gold: 33 not hiding from searches.

On the other hand, if that's not populous enough for someone they can always create an alt on a more crowded server. When i actually focus on a new alt it takes maybe a month to get them to 50 and mostly kitted out. Of course if an alt on a different server has something i think would be more useful on the new alt i just email it to myself. Same thing with starting funds since i'm lazy. After that it's just a matter of placing bids for stuff i want and selling stuff i don't until i get the current alt set up. The half a billion or so left over by the time i'm done getting to 50 and slotting generally gets reinvested in the market or used to get goodies for other alts. Usually both.

As i recall hitting printscreen while in screens like the enhancement screen and the tailor copy to the clipboard instead of saving in the screenshot folder. From there you can paste it into a graphic file using a program like GIMP or Photoshop.

Anyhow, when the series returns they are saying there is going to be a "dark sister" trilogy of episodes, being the success of the series of which she is a part of, and the normal progression of episodic television to not dramaticly **** with established characters, personally I dont think any "fall" that she sucumbs to will be permanate. Im thinking much more like a situational fall from grace like Luke when facing the emporer in RotJ.

Nope. No more than an engineer deleting the CAD files off his work computer means he can recreate it at home to resell it. Once you've submitted a character for playing NCsoft owns all relevant aspects of the character even if you delete your copy.

    Dooom
Hey, you left out Jack Emmert departing from the Dev team, all but 15 of the other Devs departing the Dev team, Cryptic selling off CoH, Cuppajo going, NCsoft neglecting the game by more than quadrupling the size of the Dev team, and Koschej departing among others.

Also, you could at least put a d--m! in the post to make it official?

And yet i always have played and continue to play the way we were apparently punished for playing. Tanking on the STF usually works better in the end fights against GW and LR by being mobile. (Does this mean that the STF new content now? i thought it was added at least a couple issues ago.) Most of my melee types maneuver during AV fights either to keep the AV's cone attacks pointed away from as many teammates as possible or are the ones trying to avoid the cone arc. Even against the AVs with only PBAoE have attacks that can usually be anticipated well enough to hop back out of melee right before they use them.

If the devs don't want us playing like that any more or want to 'evolve' the game into an "action MMO", they need to get off their butts, remove all movement suppression and animation rooting, fix all the powers that rely on the old dynamic like Stone Armor, Invincibility and Rise to the Challenge, give better ranged attacks to the melee ATs and fix the ATs that were designed for and are only good for tank and spank, ie Tankers.
Unless you're particularly enamored of a plodding, largely stationary playstyle it's always been possible to play CoX like an action MMO. There may not be any particular advantage to playing like an action MMO in AV fights (though if you have any sort of AoE at all it can be very advantageous for most other fights), but it doesn't really hurt anything to play that way either. i mean obviously you feel punished for moving during battles. Somehow it doesn't affect me very much.

Because as a Tanker, a session of spamming Taunt at Battle Maiden and getting in pathetic damage that's made even more pathetic by not even being allowed to stand there and deliver it because the blue patches make my Primary Power set irrelevant, in addition to most of my Secondary, is a [censored] joke and isn't worth my time.

Go to Hell, Apex and Tin Mage.
Uh, sure, it's the game's fault for not allowing you to play the exact same you always have (and it "forced" you to play like that by "punishing" you for doing otherwise), and now you're mad because some of the content actually does require you to change your playstyle to be more effective and you're proud to have been conditioned into fighting like stationary object.

Hunting down any bifurcations spawned while returning to the mission can take a while if your DPS isn't especially high.

Oi vey. Can i get a facepalm here?

On further reflection i can see how this might actually help with the movie's adaptation since it would help with transitions between events and shortening the movie by allowing some of the book's scenes to be compressed into a voiceover instead of showing every incident or simply removing events completely.

For what it's worth i have reached the point where i'm not even going to bother responding directly to the OP's assertions in the future. It's like trying to teach a tank full of hamsters calculus, only less rewarding. (For one thing there's less chance your students will eliminate themselves through violence and cannibalism.) "She's a dominatrix, get it? And her name is Dominatrix! Wink, wink, nod, headbutt." At least they decided to relabel her "Praetor Duncan" so I don't have to think about it.
They could have originally gone with Ms. Libertine instead of Dominatrix. Which admittedly would've been a bit less "Star Trek goatee universe/thematic opposite" than the way the other Praetorians were originally depicted. And if anything it would've supported the incest interpretation of the original bio even more, so there is that downside.

Although i find evil alternates more plausible when their negative aspects are the result of taking existing character themes/traits and amplifying them until they become negative qualities over making the evil characters the same except the evil version has certain personality traits reversed.
