So it wasn't an old container of yogurt that rolled under the fridge that i was smelling. Good to know.

Quote:Wrong. i mentioned a single aspect that tends to be overlooked in previous discussions of this topic. That is not going into the many, many, many other points on the con side that come up every time. (Not that i necessarily agree with all of the opinions that come up, which is beside the point since i in fact didn't do what you seem to believe i did.)You just did! Not only that, but you didn't even finish reading my post before you hit quote
i quoted and read your post in its entirety. It's not like there was much there.
That another game uses a character+global naming system is irrelevant to the ease of implementing it here. That game was coded from before beta to work that way.
Edit: Just to clarify, i wasn't saying i wasn't going to reply to your assertion, i meant that i wasn't going to list all the objections that are raised in opposition whenever anyone proposes switching to a local+global naming scheme. There's at least a dozen or so that come up every time that i didn't go into at all. -
i think the arch type can be important as well. For example, while Ogee arches and the Lancet arch are rather similar from a structural standpoint, i find the Ogee arch much more aesthetically appealing. The differences between arch types become even greater when we're discussing types as different in structure as catenary and shouldered flat arches.
Now, even when we're discussing archetypes, the specific archetype chosen can heavily influence the playing of the powerset. In some cases i would say that archetype can be just as important as the powerset. -
Quote:This assertion has already been addressed in every other thread on the subject, so i'm not going to go into it yet again, but the arguments against this system are just as valid now as they were then. i will point out since it seems to be frequently overlooked in other threads on the topic that it would require rewriting some of the fundamental game code to enable a (non-unique)server+(unique)global name system since everything related to character names was written with the assumption that they are unique on every server. It's unlikely to be a trivial task.Honestly, I don't see why we need unique names in the first place. We can identify characters uniquely by name+global. It might be nice to get a little, "There are already 17 people with that name, are you sure?", though.

i tend to take both Hover and Combat Jumping on many alts as long as they don't have powers that require standing on the ground. Even my Traps/Dark Defender uses Hover since Traps can use their powers while flying as long as they're just above a solid surface. On the other hand i never slot either power for defense.

Look, if all ya US "football" fans could agree to call it "armored rugby" or some such, and finally accept that "soccer" should be called football, then it would be much less confusing and annoying for everyone when you're talking to anyone from the. entire. rest. of. the. planet.
Besides, wouldn't "Armored Rugby" sound more macho anyway? -

You know what? Enjoy your burger/DFB and don't worry about it.
As for DFB i would be willing to go with a compromise in most cases of recruiting 6 players and then queuing. Yeah, not ideal for the OP's purposes, but a team of four PuGgies can be a slog, and i missed the note where the AVs don't downgrade to EBs anymore. -

The Rikti. They defeated the Battalion in the distant past, and as a consequence have no gods and no magic.
Oh, an Chekhov's Gun. It's far more dramatic to have a big reveal about something you thought was just part of the scenery than to bring in something with no established background and lore out of the blue. -

Quote:Hover provides somewhere between 1.75% and 2.5% Defense depending on AT (with Tankers getting 2.5%). Defense slotting won't get you very much, but if you're already close to 45% it may well be worth it.My willpower/SS tank is about to hit level 50 (one more bar to go!) I have hover with only one def buff in it. I'm thinking about adding two more slots to increase the defense. Also, how good is hover? Is it a overall good defensive power? Btw, thanks guys for answering my other questions on my other posts!

Pylons test nothing but single target DPS, which means they have very limited relevance to the majority of the game. Most people from a min/max standpoint care far more about AoE DPS than ST DPS. Do all weapon sets have lower AoE damage output than the non-weapon sets? Since this is supposed to be from a min/max standpoint and all...

Quote:Translation of the OP*: I'm going to ramble on about some powerset combinations I've played and some of the things I like about them and some other melee combos I've played and OH GOD IM SO HIGH RIGHT NOWEr, sorry, I think I missed where you said what the point was...

Quote:Ah, see, the Oxford comma is uncommon enough in American writing that i didn't parse your statement as intended. It's cool you have a mohawk IRL. It's also cool we've always had mohawks available in the costume creator.
It's not cool we have more styles of mohawk available than any other hairstyle. I'm pretty sure we have about six or seven different variations of the mohawk, and that number's only going up. Whereas there are a large number of other common hairstyles that the costume creator barely even touches on once. And there's no way Shark or Doofus could be even be considered normal, or even uncommon, hairstyles. How those got greenlit for creation I have no idea.
You already have your mohawks and then some. I'm not asking for them to be taken away. I'm asking for attention to be spent elsewhere for a change.
Also you misread my post. I said Doofus and Shark were hairstyles no one ever uses. Mohawks was separated from them by a comma 'cause it was the other thing that I mentioned was in over abundance in the costume creator. It was not lumped together with the others as unnatural hairstyles.
Anyway, with the upcoming Cybertech Pack there's more than enough mohawks available, agreed. However, this pack is definitely not the right place to request more normal hairstyles. (Well, i guess a Snake Plisskin cut would be more normal, and also appropriate, but i digress.) i fully support Dink's ambition of releasing a hairstyle pack, especially if it includes new hairstyles based on more common and classic hairstyles. Things like pixie cuts for females and long glam hair for men, curly hairstyles for everyone, stuff like that.
Anyway, bored with the hairstyle tangent now. Moving on.

To chainsaws! Chainsaws aren't very practical in real world combat, but they are very dramatic, so i endorse the addition of chainsaw-themed weaponry! -
And hairstyles. But i was riffing on Xzero45 going on about how real, actual people don't have the hairstyles that many people i know actually do in fact have. Apparently any hairstyle that the head of accounting wouldn't wear to a meeting of the board of directors of Status Quo Incorporated is not the sort of hairstyle actual people have in real life.
And the new cornrows are still awesome. -
Quote:Because they reused the code for the Arachnos Disguise power from Agent G's arc?I don't think it was ever explained when the costume toggles first arrived. I have a sneaking suspicion there is no reason: at least no specific restriction that mandates it. It may have been done that way for certain expediency reasons, but I can think of no practical reason why even then with the tech available at the time they needed to be exclusive of stealth powers.

Quote:*reads post*But honestly, Dink, thank you for giving us legit, normal hairstyles that actual human beings have. Please keep busting out more of those, because right now a majority of our hairstyles are things no one would ever use, like Shark and Doofus, and mohawks.
*looks in mirror*
*realizes hair is also purple, which is another thing that actual human beings don't have or would never use*
*accepts status of not being an actual legitimate human being*
Also, 10k cheers for Dink! The new cornrows are funky as all git out, the welding mask is boss, and the tool belt and golf bag just got much better!
*reads Xzero45's post again*

Quote:Indeed. Now there was a piece of work. (i can't even recall what his name was, but i'm somewhat sure it wasn't anything as accurate as Cranial-Rectal-Inversion Man.)Was that the same dingleberry that complained that he couldn't afford to buy stuff because he only made 70k a year, and that anyone on disability was a drug addict?

Quote:But it's a pretty good emulation of a pigeon. Why would you want it to be a swan, anyway? i suppose they're somewhat appealing to look at, but geese or egrets are more interesting. Hell, the aforementioned pigeons are more interesting and definitely more useful. You can pretend your character is a magical pony who solves problems not with violence but by winning over the hearts of evildoers with his unique blend of family-oriented humor too, but gluing feathers on a rat doesn't make it a swan.
That said, i have been disappointed with the Freedom Phalanx's depiction, primarily as they've come across in the SSA1. They really don't come across as experienced heroes who have worked together, prevailed, and held their own even through alien invasions and all the assorted bizarreness that comes with a career in superheroics. They seem to act more like AE babies who arrived from a small town and spent the last decade training to 50 by clicking on bombs. There's genre-blindness, and then there's pants-on-head blindness. -
Quote:i remember one in particular would not stop going on and on about how evil it was for Paragon Studios to release more content than his stipend could cover and how it proved VIPs/subscribers were getting less than ever for their money. He refused to acknowledge basic logic or math and apparently ragequit over PS releasing too much stuff. Well, at least i don't recall any posts since his last tantrum at least six months ago.I will back him on the complainers. towards the beginning of freedom there were a few loud complainers that paragon was being greedy releasing stuff faster than vip stipends could cover just to force us to spend cash. It wasn't a huge contingent, but as in many issues where people have a stake, they posted a lot and derailed several threads.
Yeah...
