Still, i also find things like the small animal heads and lack of fur texture for flat feet and no paws for normal legs somewhat bothersome. Well, at least we still have the insectoid feet option for non-monstrous legs.

So i guess really what I'm asking is this... Is RP the only reason why you cant pvp from both sides as a vigi or rogue?
i was trying to make it clearer with examples and comparisons and apparently it had the opposite effect.

    Right.

Basically, Vigilantes are Heroes who are also flagged to be able to enter villain zones and join teams there. In PvP zones the game just looks at your faction flag that shows you as a Hero, not the flag that says your Hero can also enter villain zones. The reverse is true for Rogues who are just Villains with a flag allowing them to enter Hero zones.

As PunchinJudy states the obvious reason for not allowing a Vigilante or Rogue to choose a side when entering a PvP zone is to prevent exploits. Also, i suspect it would be very complicated to rewrite the code for the zones to allow Vigilantes and Rogues to fight as both factions.

    Actually you can't.

You can't run missions for hero contacts as a Rogue, and you can't run missions for villain contacts as a vigilante. A Rogue is really a villain who has the ability to go to Paragon City and team with heroes there, and a Vigilante is a hero with the ability to go to the Rogue Isles/Etoile Islands and team with villains there.

Think of it as being a citizen of one country with a visa allowing you to visit another. You can enter the country and associate with the citizens (team) and take under the table jobs (tip missions), but you have no official standing to work a regular job (normal contacts) or serve in the military (PvP).

    It's a little like that.

Either way he's proud of what the egg represents, so for Nemesis it is currently the most important box in the multiverse. As to why he has that all-important cardboard box sitting on the floor in the middle of a corridor in a complex that he only recently took over and is currently under attack... Ah, now that would be telling.

On second thought, scratch the Giant Teddy Bear idea and have a giant catgirl in schoolgirl clothing as the giant monster.
    How about a giant hamster?

Which leaves you trying to find a way to impair things. I agree knock is a good one. And in that case the ideal candidate may actually be a peacebringer because they take knock in most powers.
Probably a human/dwarf build with a focus on the melee attacks; that's the ticket!
  9. So far the launcher has been working fine for me. It sees all three client versions and has worked well keeping them up to date.

So far i'd say the patch downloading has been a bit faster, but it's always been a fairly quick process for me.

Rebuttal already covered by other posters. i stay high enough that you have to be jumping fairly high to hit any patches that target me for the most part. Even if you graze one while bouncing/floating around they're unlikely to kill you on their own although hits from other enemies can add the extra damage needed. The area of the patches seems to be more of an oblate spheroid than a true sphere to me, like the graphic for Dispersion Bubble. At least it definitely seems that the ones on the ground are easy to clear on my non Hovering characters without jumping as high as the patch is wide.

    i can see that.
It even make sense since the symbiote doesn't really concern itself with abstract concepts and motivations beyond finding a host.

Still, i've never found Venom that interesting personally. He's always seemed to be a sort of exaggerated adolescent "ooh, i'm so scary looking and shocking to grown-ups" power fantasy in its core concept and (especially) appearance even though i do think Marvel has done some good stories about the consequences and implications of that mindset.

Where Marvel takes Venom from here could be interesting.

How well could one design a character to disable and defeat itself.
What some of the other posters in this thread seem to be overlooking is that the proposal is to make good power and slot placement choices and then use sets that harm the character's performance. In my opinion the only way to do that and make the character perform worse than using nothing or regular IOs and Sos is to pick a build that has a focus on melee combat with multiple powers that cause knockback and then slot knockback sets wherever possible. i think i could still make it work well on most maps, but it would arguably be worse than no slotting at all.

  16. My first character was probably either my MA/SR Scrapper named Seiben or my (deleted years ago) Elec/Elec Blaster named Mechageist. Some day i'll get Seiben to 50. She's taken almost seven years just to reach 46 when i have alts who took less than 2 months to reach 50.

Stridently seconding your sensible sentiments surrounding AE searches. Seriously.

So, how does it feel to be an "outlier"? (Like many others in this thread.)

Seriously, i actually enjoy the Apex TF. The funny thing is that i found it pretty enjoyable and fairly easy back before Notices of the Well were available, and now with the level shift it's a lot bit easier than it was then. The Praetorian forces are interesting in both their abilities and appearance.

While i hope future issues and the Incarnate system will become a bit less Praetorian and Cole-centric i do think that the Apex and Tin Mage TFs are fun additions to the game. Tying in Ruulaaruu-uu-uu and Shiva and The Battalion with the Incarnate system and storyline would be a nice way of breathing life back into some of the more interesting CoH lore that's been largely overlooked for a while now.

Especially Ruu-uu-uulaaruu. An alien godlike being served by hordes of bizarre and deadly creatures with no incestuous* link to the well as an opponent? Yes please!

*So far all Incarnate content is the Well pitting its various puppets and agents against each other as it plays some sort of game to see which one is the strongest. Presumably the Well has some other purpose or goal besides playing playing war games with itself using those it imbues. If it turns out that all the Well wants us for is to help it play with itself i'm going to feel disappointed. And a bit dirty.
  20. Regarding the OP's question...

    Short answer: No.

Long answer: i'm not exactly enthused about the Lore Slot pets being Praetorians, but still no.

That's a really good point. When the Apex TF was in beta after the first few minutes my Widow died more times from hopping into an existing patch than from standing in a new patch's target area. i guess it's really more about paying attention to overall positioning than anything else.

    i can agree with this.

Y'know what i'd like to see as a scifi movie? An adaptation of Revelation Space.

Or a movie set in the universe of the Culture. (Assuming Iain Banks wrote the initial treatment of the script and had veto power. It's largely how he writes the characters, events and plotting that make the Culture stories interesting to me.)

Hell, Doctor Sleepless would make for an interesting movie.

Ask the many others in this thread and the corresponding threads in the General Discussions section of the forums who have had the same experience.

Or not. i think you generally only care about posts that confirm your preexisting biases, so it's probably a waste of time.

    Moving on...

So, while my melee-centric types have had it a little tougher during the BM battle it's not that difficult once i learned to disengage my Scrapperlock and not simply stand stock still cycling attacks. Also, as suggested earlier in the thread, if a tank is taunting BM it's best to avoid the traditional AV battle tactic of spamming immobilizes on her. Kiting her around the battlefield is a more effective way to increase melee DPS.

Having run Apex several times each on a variety of ATs i've learned how to maneuver effectively during the final battle as well as useful tactics and tricks in the other parts of the TF. Most of my Incarnates also have at least the uncommon boost slotted and that does make a definite difference.
  24. What i like about the current PvP experience... The only thing that comes to mind is that the values of things like DR and Elusivity can be easily adjusted, and other changes/"features" of the current PvP system can be easily tweaked or removed with the system now in place. This raises the possibility of making PvP closer to the current PvE experience and previous PvP experience.

Wait, that's i like about the current PvP systems and not what i like about the current CoH PvP experience that uses those systems. Damnit!
    Uh...
    well...
i like that we can move around and attack other players and critters in the PvP zones. Yup. That part of the experience is fun.

i honestly don't see what 2011 era CGI would add to the movie. Unless you gin up some hyper-elaborate sets or squirmy biomechanical effects simply to have an excuse for fancy CGI in the movie.

Part of what made the movie feel so real, and in many ways made it the archetypal cyberpunk movie, is that it effectively captured the feeling of a gritty, realistic noir future.
