Quote:Ooh, good to know.American Red Cross can and will also take monetary walk-in or mail-in donations of pretty much any amount in the forms of cash/check/pretty much anything. You should specify what it's for when you make the donation though, if you want it to go specifically to the Japanese earthquake relief. You can go to www.redcross.org and stick your zip code in the box on the right side of the page to get contact info for your local chapter.
i've donated to the American Red Cross for disaster relief many times, but never specified it that way. -

Quote:If that was all you had done i might agree with you.Its hardly "trolling" to note that you pop in with this exact line of defense each and every time that someone requests more costume slots. You've been doing it for years now, its what is expected from you.
(It wasn't. (Not even close.))
And i'm not sure how expressing indifference is defending against something (which requires opposing it), but i suppose that premise was as relevant and logical as the rest of your post. (Not logical at all.)
(Parentheses contain commentary unnecessary for those who are not thinking impaired.)
(Nested parentheses contains venomous snakes. (Don't touch the nested parentheses.))
Anyway, i would fully support the addition of more costume slots. If they could be unlocked for a fee i doubt i'd ever buy any, but i still support the idea of making more available. i'd certainly use any i didn't have to pay real money to acquire. -

Indeed. Welcome back to my favorite superhero MMO. In fact my favorite MMO so far.
Incidentally, Psychoti, i see what you did there...
This statement is true:Quote:I'd suggest Virtue as a server, the population is very friendly. Quote:In fact, I can almost guarantee you'll have an SG invite before you finish loading into Atlas. Don't accept it. Trust me.
But it's true, Virtue has lots of friendly people. And a few who spend their time trying to rope naive newbies into joining their prestige farming mills. Which is especially odd since the only thing prestige does in game is give you funds to outfit bases. And it's easy to afford a swanky base with all modern conveniences with no grinding at all even in small SGs. It's just that there are tools in the game who think a large prestige total for an SG has some sort of importance. It doesn't. -
Quote:i've sometimes felt sorry for all that lonely, neglected salvage with no bidders and spend a few minutes buying and deleting it at a somewhat randomly selected price that's at least twice what a store will pay.I've randomly paid 100x for some cheap crap just for giggles as well.
i do this more often with low or mid level salvage. That way the odds are better that the one benefiting from my largess is actually a new player who has more need for inf.
It doesn't actually accomplish anything but amusing me. Which is enough since i play this game for amusement.
i'm always amused by people who claim that market behavior isn't following free market rules in a free market. i tend to suspect they're the sort of ideologues who actually believe that free markets (in which the participants are human beings) operate in a rational, logical manner. Any endeavor that involves human beings never operates in a truly rational manner. -
i personally have been using a macro.
/macro Inc "toggle incarnate$$e emotename*"
*i've been using stancevillain2. While just using "toggle incarnate" opens and closes the Incarnate window just fine it lacks style. -
Katana/Dark Armor Scrappers can be extremely survivable and chew through most enemies without much difficulty. i don't have any builds to give since i never really did a good IO build on mine. Never really needed it and have been focusing on other alts lately, like my Fortunata and WS.
Speaking of Warshades, Dechs' suggestion of a MFing WS is good as well. -
Quote:Well, Zwillinger posted in the official discussion thread today that the Devs will be looking into player suggestions regarding concerns raised over the naming conflicts and other issues.I personally think it would have been a better choice to append *ALL* accounts with the relative geographical location and instead use it to their advantage. For example EU.<name> NA.<name> It might even benifit them in terms of passing location relative information along.
The only problem with appending NA or EU to every account is that it might be non-trivial to add more characters to the account name field to accommodate names already at the maximum length.
Since they know of the concerns about names and have said they're looking into it i would suggest having a little patience for the moment. -
Quote:You might possibly lose your current global names, but you will gain many more potential teammates and servers to play on, loosely speaking.Ok, given that I OP and feel less stressed than I did when I did the original post I want to clarify a couple of points.
1) I know there will be people upset about loosing globals, I am one of them (and if someone can contact the US @Black Light and @White Knight and ask them to contact me on the forum, it would be fun to compare notes :P), but my real upset is that I will loose for no other reason that I'm playing on the EU servers. I thought I made that clear, but obviously my writing skill is lacking since so many seem to assume that it's just my names I'm upset about. I am upset about that the entier population on the EU servers gets shafted, for no other reason than they are on the EU servers.
2) I assumed this was a merge of server lists, not a EU gets access to NA servers, so why do so many NA players assume that I/we will come to you, why don't you come to us? I don't use both English speaking servers I have access to, so I why would I want to do more than a bit of touristing on the American servers?
Give me a tell when you create your first alt on Union Lisa and I'll make a new alt and level pact you, and introduce you to all the nice people I know, and give you those welcoming hugs. I'll do that for you, just because you seem friendly. Forum text really suck at conveying sentiment, I just read it and it seem a bit sarcastic, but it's really just friendliness towards someone that seem friendly.
Now from a player standpoint this will just be a merger of server lists. From a coding perspective this almost certainly means that the entries from one server list will be imported to the other server list. Seeing as how there are far fewer EU accounts and servers than NA accounts and servers it makes sense to import the EU accounts into the NA database. In which case the safest and simplest method of resolving name conflicts is to alter the imported entries as they are imported.
A number of people have far more eloquently stated why they feel this is unfair, and it appears that the Devs will in fact be looking into alternatives to the current proposal for resolving name conflicts. Of course this will be far more complicated from a coding standpoint.
Edit: Zwillinger posted that they will taking player concerns about the merger repercussions into consideration here. -
i usually set Secondary Mutation on auto if i have no other click powers that can use that honor more.
Once it happened when i was switching to one of my Dark Miasma Defenders to run a Kahn TF. i log in and was a monkey when the loading screen cleared. i told the team, "Um, slight delay. Monkeys can't use portals."
It also happened to another Defender in the middle of a boss fight midway through the Manticore TF IIRC. Slightly annoying since i was on a rad with the debuff toggles running. i spent my time monkeyfied trying to hop onto the boss.
i wish Devolution happened more often. -
Quote:i don't know... he seems to be pretty tightly wound and not nearly as loose as the Devs apparently think the people in the EU are. (No idea why the EU would be assumed to be looser; i'm pretty sure casual sex is just as common in the Americas.)Personally speaking - as an EU player - I don't mind if I end up as @EU_Cobra Man.
I'm more than happy to take the trade off of access to all the NA servers - and all the slots
Hopefully the OP will calm down a bit over time and see the benefits of the merge.
If it helps at all i'm more than willing to change my global in the extremely unlikely event an EU player has the same one. -
Quote:"He's an oversexed one-eyed inventor haunted by memories of 'Nam. She's a psychotic African-American single mother from a different time and place. They fight crime!"
Wow, it's been years since i saw that script.
i think the last time i saw it it didn't even have its own website.
A character i created back in August '04 still has a bio that riffs on the whole "They fight crime!" theme. -
Quote:Well, yeah. They took that intern away from animating out the bugs in pseudopets to add a few more NPC costume files to the list that populates the nightclubs. And just as the intern was about to completely rewrite the combat engine from the ground up before finishing the scripts to merge the server lists. And right after that he would've been creating the powers, models and animations for a whole new NPC faction if he hadn't been tasked with adding a few new costumes to some largely static noncombat NPCs.I hate to be an antagonist, but really?
We have numerous bugs and THIS is what resources were spent on? I don't really care how little effort it took to implement these guys, why are they priority over other well-known bugs?
No, wait, it took the entire development team a week to add a few new NPCs to the clubs because... well just because.
So yeah. Those jerks!
i actually do care how much effort it took. Because i see no point in Bob the Intern sitting around with his thumb up his bum waiting for things he has nothing to do with to be fixed. So if someone adds a few new outfits to the NPC population while they have nothing else that requires their attention it's a good thing. -

While the Fukushima Daiichi reactors continue to be a problem, two of the reactors most likely have suffered a partial meltdown and maintaining cooling has been difficult, there is some good news regarding the reactor problems at the Fukushima Daini nuclear plant.
From the IAEA updates on the Japanese crisis:
Quote:Based on information provided by Japanese authorities, the IAEA can confirm the following information about the status of Units 1, 2, 3 and 4 at Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant.
All four units automatically shut down on 11 March. All units have off-site power and water levels in all units are stable. Though preparations have been made to do so, there has been no venting to control pressure at any of the plant´s units.
At Unit 1, plant operators were able to restore a residual heat remover system, which is now being used to cool the reactor. Work is in progress to achieve a cold shutdown of the reactor.
Workers at Units 2 and 4 are working to restore residual heat removal systems.
Unit 3 is in a safe, cold shutdown.
Radiation dose rate measurements observed at four locations around the plant´s perimeter over a 16-hour period on 13 March were all normal. -
Only by insinuation. Pretty sure the general usage of British Isles only applies to the clump of islands off the coast of France that includes England. (And possibly the Falklands off the coast of South America by right of conquest.)

Champion still has a pretty active PvP community. Due to the lower population than Freedom it's harder to find PvP on a whim, but they do regularly schedule events and are pretty helpful for those interested in learning.

Quote:*huh* My Crab and Huntsman would take issues with your assertions regarding things like armored blasting. As would my Tanker who fires energy blasts and my Blaster with body armor. And that's not counting my characters who craft temp powers that give them energy blasts and shields. For obvious game balance reasons a character can't easily excel at all things at once, but i think you're ignoring the current state of the game to make such absolute statements.I could go on, but you get the idea. Since we can't muliti-class, and create an armored Tanker who can fire energy blasts (a very common concept in comics, but unattainable by any technology known to Human or Rikti, somehow), or a pistolero who wears Kevlar & thus could profit from Defense enhancements (apparently nobody will sell flak jackets or bulletproof vests to Blasters), those of us who want to individualise our toons have to be creative.
At the very least i can have a Tanker who fires various blasts simply by crafting temp powers until they reach a high enough level to select an APP. In fact i have an armored cyborg concept Scrapper who did exactly that. i even kept one or two copies of the recipes and salvage available so that i could refresh the temp powers when they ran out. It's not that hard to RP the charges running out: it's pretty common for power armor types to have their weapons systems malfunction or be damaged in battle and not be usable until repaired or recharged. -

Quote:Pretty much this. Although my FF Defender was more like my third character.Gee. I'm ever so tempted.
To play, I enjoy fire-and-forget support. VEATs, Traps, etc. I don't like constant re-buffing.* Although, control really is my favorite.
To play with, I like the ones that can do a bit of everything. Storm, Rad, Dark, etc. I like to play with people that have a variety of ways to help, rather than the more single-focused sets like FF. Yes, I know FF does a few things, but defense is the main focus.
*My first character on live was a FF defender. I played on large teams quite a lot. I'm still burned out. -
Few of the SGs and people i first teamed with still play the game. Well, i suppose some do, but since this was before global chat and global friend lists existed i really have no way of telling. BUT, i am constantly meeting new people and making new friends, finding new global channels and communities to join, and occasionally running into old friends who have returned.
My advice is to make new friends and join new channels as you go. Maybe i'm an anomaly, but i find i have a harder time making room for new channels and new friends than i do finding them. Communities shift and change, but people worth knowing and teaming with are always out there. -
Quote:I think it has to do with the buff themed around tarot cards. I know people that think anything to do with tarot is evil and will avoid it at all costs. I don't have to agree with them to respect their beliefs.Quote:Thx, i didnt know why this person disagrees with getting their fortune read. I really didnt ask either because it just kinda surprised me.

o.0 i cannot imagine any religion where this would be more objectionable than... well... most of the rest of the game's setting. It's not even telling a fortune, it's just a random buff with a game-themed graphic. Seriously, if they can play the game at all while finding that objectionable on religious grounds... *shakes head over the endless human capacity for selective perception and compartmentalization*
