Feral Catgirl
Well, i do play them on occasion, but compared to most of my alts the Feral Catgirls are pretty neglected. -

Quote:What's almost as amusing is that comments have been disabled for the video. Some songs are called "earworms" because you can't stop thinking of them, but this one is more of an "ear-ringworm" because it's like an ugly and painful fungus infesting your ears. And the processing on the vocals... i really have to wonder how horrible her singing voice if this is how "good" it sounds after being so heavily produced.*sigh*, i finally caved in and decided to give the song a listen, just so I could appreciate the meme more....
Good GOD, the chick sounds like Steve Urkel >_< My ears are bleeding.... DAMMIT, Equation! I think I'll join Zwil in your telepathic demise >=(
Though seeing it's youtube stats: 383,613 likes and 2,755,421 dislikes, made me lol so hard.... -
i prefer Petey; Petey the Portal.
Also, it's pretty impressive that Tyrant can maintain a dimensional portal despite all attempts to stop him. i'm guessing it's still there as a conduit for surveillance after his attack was repelled. Any heroes who can do so should close it ASAP. -
Quote:Pretty much this. A posting for jobs working on a new MMO generally means it's at a minimum two years from release. Yes, Cryptic has done approximately two year turnarounds, but that was by modifying a game engine they already had, and so far the results of that approach haven't been pretty. It means they're working on something and need more people. It *certainly* doesn't mean a new game next year (*WAY* too short a turn around time for a MMO...even Cryptic's post-CoH games took 2, and we all know how those launched), nor does it imply that this game is going F2P.
If you'd worded your OP more along the lines of "They posted this and I *think* it means (insert wild speculations here)" instead of stating it in absolutes, you would have had less people challenging your post. Barring that, it would probably have helped if you'd simply acknowledged your OP as speculation when challenged.
A City of Heroes 2 sequel would require using a new game engine. Even if most of it was done by licensing another company's engine it would still require extensive work and the creation of all new art assets, all new storyline and mission writing, and a whole lot of other work. While i don't think it's impossible that CoH2 or CoH2.0 might be in the works i do think it would be at least two years before it was released. If it does happen sooner (or even at all) i would be ecstatic, but i'm not going to claim it's a sure thing until i see something more than what we've seen so far. -
Quote:Oh, i welcome the heal in TG as an occasionally handy bonus, but i slot it with debuff sets.I hear what you are saying. "Twilight Grasp heals in addition to the target debuffs? Howling Twilight rezzes? I thot it was for auto-hit stun, regen debuff, and slows!"
Howling Twilight rarely rezzes when i use it because teammates rarely have the good sense to die just before i finish debuffing that spawn into nearly helpless sacks of XP. -
Quote:This is why i like joining your TF teams when i see you announce them. i also take a similar approach when i start my own teams.Ahhh, more reminders of why I seldom join teams anymore. When I feel like teaming, I make sure I have the star. I list my rules from the start and people are welcome to stay or leave. If they stay, they agree to function under the rules. Two of my rules pertain to this situation.
Rule #3: If you think you can handle it, you're free to go for it.
Rule #4: If you die while following rule #3, don't wait for someone to come save you. -
Quote:That's my take on it as well. To be honest i was always surprised that Illusion wasn't given to Dominators since in the genre that City of Heroes is based on illusions are used by villains far more often than heroes. When Earth was given to Dominators i was surprised that it wasn't Illusion instead both for genre reasons and because, as Tex mentions, Earth and Illusion benefit just about equally from Domination. This is really not the case. The reason you would want an Illusion Dominator is the same reason you'd want a Dominator of any of the other Controller sets. Dominators and Controllers bear a passing resemblance to each other but in actuality are very different beasts.
Here are the numbers of powers that benefit from Domination on the existing sets after removing the immobilize powers:
Mind - 8
Earth - 3 (but one is a sleep very few use)
Ice - 3 (but one is a sleep very few use)
Electric - 1.5 (because Synaptic can only dominate the first target)
Plant - 2
Illusion - 3
Now if we want to say that being able to Dominate on an immob you can spam anyway is a critical asset for Dominators, we can do that, but I think most people will disagree. The fact is though that compared to Ice or Electric Control, Illusion has exactly as much meaningful AoE Domination potential (1 power each after removing Ice's LOLSleep), and more single target (2 powers to their one).
Illusion Dominators would be powerful as heck. In fact, outside of AVs, Illusion/Fire would be damn near unkillable and still kill AVs fast enough to be worth the trade off (see: Mind/Fire Dominators). I'm not sure whether its powerful enough to be "overpowered" but I can definitely see why people would want one. -
Quote:Is it only between US and EU, or are all transfers unavailable? No transfers are not working yet between NA and EU servers.
No we haven't been told why.
Yes this is the 7th or 8th thread asking the same question and the answer has been the same each time it's been asked.
i can understand disabling transfers for a few days to make sure there's no unexpected database problems. -
Quote:i had no idea we couldn't. Are server transfers not available currently? With the merged lists transferring to Union should be no different than transferring to Freedom or Pinnacle.I havent been able to find it but are we ever going to be able to transfer to say Union or one of the EU severs with existing characters?
Union seems fairly busy the times I play and wouldn't mind making new friends on a different server from another part of the world. -
i thought that i dreamed that someone said that they heard someone else say that War Witch told them that Positron said that the changes would go live at the same time that Doms got Illusion. Does that mean we're getting Dominator Illusion tomorrow as well?

Quote:That's nice, but since you opened with:I'm saying that I hope that Paragon keeps CoH1 running forever, even after CoH2 comes out, but I don't feel like CoH by itself is positioned to sustain it's subscribers with all of the new next gen games coming down the road. CoH dodged 2 bullets with Champions and DCUO, and we are very, very lucky for that, but do I think CoH can maintain an acceptable market share after GQ2, Marvel Online, The Old Republic, DCUO and a free-to-play Champions? I certainly hope it can, but I would rather see CoH1's existence secured with a modern, next-gen big brother blocking the big stuff.
The free-to-play model would then allow the die-hard fans a chance to support their game where it really counts (at the cash shop), while gracefully acknowledging it's age and engine limitation in the marketplace, and introducing tons of new players to Paragon City.
Historically, yes, sequels fail, but I think that's more due to execution than anything else. In all truth, they could probably simply remake CoH1 on a new engine and have a success on their hands.Quote:There's a few interesting job openings here for a "Next-Gen MMO"/"exciting new project".
You heard it here first... City of Heroes 2 to launch next year, and CoH goes free-to-play with GR2.
Quote:So, did you ever say exactly where you heard that it would launch next year before coming here to tell us the news?
i mean a halfway intelligent person wouldn't state this with such certainty if they were just tooting out their rectum, so obviously you have a reliable source that you cited somewhere in this thread and i just missed it.
So would you humor me and tell me what you're basing this statement of fact on again since i missed it the first time? -
Quote:Right. That's what i thought you meant. It was the Golden Girl style response that threw me. When i see her posts i know any sort of rational thought or reasonable discourse just became highly unlikely.Eh? What I meant was that while a dude saying something another dude said is technically a quote, it doesn't mean the person actually said that. I can say that Posi told me he reads my guides before he goes to bed every night and is trying to push through a change for Corrs to have 3k base hit points and people can point to my post saying he said it, but that doesn't mean he actually said it.
I wasn't at the Meet and Greet, Posi may well have said that they're done with powerset proliferation. My point is that I think someone saying he said so is a quote is being a little generous with the term. Secondary source, if you will. -

Actually, since you're now using GG punctuation i'm a little uncertain as to what you meant. You could have meant what i'd normally think you meant, but if you're in GG mode you could mean you have absolute blind faith in whatever your nanny told you in the third grade, all evidence, common sense, and rational thought to the contrary be damned.

Quote:Well, in honor of the day, and another recent thread, yesterday i created the Katana/Willpower Scrapper named "a hero? Maybe" on Union. Big, burly guy in work clothes with a mask strapped over his face. i should post a picture of him, he really looks the part of someone born on Friday the 13th.I didn't even make the connection that yesterday was the 13th until 2short2care's post. I thought the thread was just a TGIF post

Not if they had chemical lighting like a glow stick.
Startling maybe.
That reminds me, the other day on Freeeeeeeeeeedom i saw someone with the name LighteningWarrior recruiting for their brand new Soul Society SG in AP broadcast. i sent him a tell congratulating him on the Bleach/bleaching pun. -
Quote:This is true. Well, "power" is a more accurate term than "right", but it's still true. Of course having the right to do so doesn't mean it's justified or smart. The team leader reserves the exclusive right to remove you from the team for whatever reason he likes. If you don't do what he asks you to do, don't get all pissy when he kicks you out for it.
Usually if a leader is that competent and intelligent i prefer that they start kicking people early on. It saves on some aggravation and i've been on several teams where when the leader start kicking teammates like that we all quit and formed a new team without the previous leader. -
Quote:Oops, yeah, forgot about Acid Arrow's effects not stacking. No to Acid, yes to Disruption. Acid Arrow (like most resistance debuffs) is set to not stack from the same caster so shooting it again simply refreshes the duration. The same is technically true of disruption arrow as well but since it's a pseudo pet that does the actual debuffing it will stack when it comes from different disruption arrow pets.
