Mids' was created by players for players.
Until a player creates an app like Mids' for phones there won't be one.
So... -
Quote:Every time i see "origin of power" in a CoH context i have momentary urge to bang my forehead against the nearest solid surface. i usually defuse it with a facepalm.I ditched it the moment they said it. Just like the origin of power nonsense.
i find the Lore pets explanation/canon significantly less offensive.
Still, i will ignore the Lore description when it runs counter to my character's concept for a power. i have a Grav/Storm that i've wanted to have Storm Elemental pets for years as part of the concept of a technology based on manipulating high energy fields and spacetime itself. -
Quote:Personally i'm rather fond of the marital arts. No, but I'll be very interested in seeing them provided they're not another weapon set, marital art or derivative of a set we already have (Dark Control, Earth Blast*).
*Not that I don't want to see more conceptual proliferation, see what I posted before about the subject, but it hardly gets me hyped.
.
...somewhere i still have the Marital Artists card from XXXenophile. <.< -

Quote:My problem is that the whole Skittles Corps thing DC introduced makes me want to facepalm every time i encounter it. It turns out that the Rainbow of Lanterns uses the exact same color spectrum and emotional/conceptual associations for those colors as the Western cultures of Earth. *huh* It's not just a small world, it's also a minuscule universe. Are there are any Green Lantern Corpish themed SG's on Virtue? Doesn't specifically have to be GL Corpish, but could have heroes from all the different spectrums, whether they are melee or other types of powers.
All that aside i do like the concept of color-themed SGs, just not so much the DC Rainbow version. i suppose there was an explanation of why it just happened to coincide so perfectly with Western traditions, but i didn't read enough of the series to find out. -
Kheldian names i've used that were actually chosen with their Kheldian nature in mind:
Violet Aster (WS)
Space Pirate Miko (PB)
Void Annihilator (WS)
Valkyrie Kosmos (PB)
Blacklight Neko (WS)
Less serious names:
a flying pig (PB)
general incompetence (PB)
DragonnadZ (PB) -

Quote:About 5 or 6 years ago i created the PB DragonnadZ on Freedom as an homage to all the DBZ clones running around. Someday i'll get him to level 20.My mind immediately went to Kid Goku/Sun Wokung/The Monkey King when I saw that screen shot as well. If anything, this might lead to more Dragonball copyright violations and less Dragonball Z violations. :P
At the time my thinking was that a PB was a far more accurate emulation of DBZ than the extremely common Energy/Energy Blaster versions having both shields and flashy energy attacks. -
Quote:Awesome. i'm not at home right now so i wasn't sure what the new launcher's verify procedure was.Open the NCSoft launcher.
Right click city of heroes to open it's drop down menu.
It will be an option like "Repair" or "Force Consistancy Check".
If after running that it still won't work - go into the COH folde and delete any file with "checksum" in it's name AND go into the pigg folder and delete the sound2 pigg file (or whatever the name of the offending file is). -
Quote:Good luck with that. i'm serious. i enjoyed PvP a lot more before it was "fixed", and keep hoping the long-promised adjustments to the system will someday arrive. While the original PvP system was far from perfect i found it much more fun than the current environment. (Note that i never had FOTM build under the old (or new) system, but the alts i used could be quite a bit of fun in a team with other players.)Thanks for the names. I'll try Zwillinger first and see how it goes from there.
Arcanaville made some suggestions for adjusting PvP that i thought sounded quite promising in a thread about a month ago. Part of the advantage of the new system was supposed to be that it would be easy for the Devs to tweak the system for better balance and appeal. A feature that means nothing if it never gets used. PvP hasn't been totally ignored inasmuch as there have been fixes to some powers that were broken in PvP, but that's not really saying much. -
Quote:Sounds like a corrupted file. When you re-ran the patcher did you tell it to verify all files? So, when I enter the log in for City of heroes, the music and sound are playing fine. But as soon as I start to type in my password, a message comes up saying: ./piggs/sound2.pigg Corrupt Pig file dected.
Read failed for file: sound/Ogg/FrontEnd/Type2.ogg

Your data might be corrupt, please run the patcher and try again.
And I did re-run the patcher, but the same error came up. So when I close out the box and enter the game, there's no sound. Any idea WTF is going on? -
Quote:Any account that logs in before tomorrow receives the badge account-wide. The badge is account based, not character based.I have a question about the above Quoted Material. If you weren't able to log in during the event BUT where able to log in during Memorial Day Weekend (which I have); Does the badge still go account wide or do I have to log in with all my toons?
If this has been answered I apologize but I have multiple accounts and it would take me forever to log in with all my toons on all accounts. -

Quote:At this time to my knowledge no Dev has even hinted at the Vanguard Pack being made available as anything other than part of the Seven Years of Super celebration. It's always possible it could be at some point in the future, but no promises have been made.10 days later I ask again:
Will the Vanguard pack be available for purchase?
Of course all the pieces in the pack except for the wee little toy robot can still be purchased with Vanguard Merits in game. -

Quote:i'm lazy, so i copy the image location and then click the little icon with a picture of a mountain above the text field and paste the address into the box that pops up.What's the command for posting a picture like that in the forums?
YMMV (Your Method May Vary)
Edit: This is what happens...

Quote:The Jump Pack from the Good Versus Evil edition is actually a rather mediocre travel power by itself. It doesn't add noticeably to your jump speed (forward movement) and works much better as a boost to other travel powers. Also, it's not a veteran reward, it's gained by applying one of the Good Versus Evil codes to your account. Personally i would suggest using it to augment another travel power like Ninja Run, Beast Run, Hover or Combat Jumping.Though I know that the Jump travel power is the fastest one, I've had few characters with it. And my latest character won't bother with a travel power until she reaches her 30's. Until then I'll be using the Jump Pack temporary travel power, obtained from the Veteran Reward.
It's so practical but it only lasts 30 seconds and takes so long (150 seconds) to recharge...
What I'd like to know is how to best use it - quick bursts maintaining the altitute or using it all to reach the highest point (and then deal with the consequences; no worries, I can heal myself), reach rooftops and higher points from which to better aim the next jump, or what?
Thanks for the input, folks!
The non-permanent jumping power that does the most to increase your travel speed is the Zero-G Pack which is gained by completing the Kings Row mayhem or safeguard mission when you're level 10+. -

i'd also tend to think of an AT with Mind Control. Conversations with Slack Jawed Fools can leave one bored (Mesmerize, Mass Hypnosis), confused (Confuse, Mass Confusion), and suffering from severe headaches (Dominate, Total Domination and Terrify).
Dragon Magazine once published a writeup of the Hopeless character class. They gained the ability to induce Feeblemind in others just by talking to them at higher levels. How to get a character who never has more than 1-2 hp and can't use anything more complicated than padded armor and a club to a higher level is left as an exercise for the reader. -
Quote:i'd always heard that puns were.Ahhh! nice to see sarcastic skills are still up and running....did you not know that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit?
Sarcasm is for the most part a slightly less subtle sister too such things as satire, irony, and facetiousness. i would tend to argue with anyone who claimed writers like Johnathan Swift, Douglas Adams, and Warren Ellis practice the lowest form of wit. Still, you're entitled to your opinions until i am installed as Emperor.
(You'll be entitled to your opinions afterwards as well, but it doesn't sound as foreboding if i tell you that. Wait... ah, dammit.) -
Quote:That's really not functionally different from giving a monetary refund, except that i'm not altogether certain that subscriptions are tracked, and expire precisely, to the hour or minute. i'm pretty sure it's done by the day, so either they'd have to implement a new system to track those lost hours and award an additional day's sub whenever it reached 24, or they'd have to recode the billing/account system to track individual minutes and hours. Since the EULA you agree to every time you log specifically states they're not obligated to do so anyway i wouldn't hold my breath hoping they invest in such an absurd system.Hey, I never said I wanted a cash refund - I just want the time. My free time, like everyone else's has a limit. When maintenance bites into that free time, I want to be able to use that time I paid for later, without paying for it again. If they close the servers for x hours, then our sub times should be extended for x hours.
Quote:Maybe this way, they won't do a tiny update on Tuesday and then have maintenance on Thursday when they could easily do both during the same two hour window.
Quote:But, as a buddy tells me, I could have leveled a toon with all the time I spend here whining about fair play or lack thereof. :P -
Bitter?
Angry?
Disgruntled?
(i really don't know why you have so much difficulty finding good teammates for these trials. i know dozens of people across several servers who frequently run trials and are happy to invite me on whatever alt i feel like playing at the moment.) -
