It makes sense your seen if you attacked while stealthed. A good amount of the time in movies and heck, maybe real life somedayIf you attack while stealthed, your enemy knows where you are. Stealth is not PERFECTLY invisible. Its meant to where you can stand close and initiate an attack or 2 before they get a chance to fireback
[/ QUOTE ]
But that's not how it works anymore, that is how it USED to work. Now, if you initiate or get hit by an attack, stealth goes away and everyone in the entire room can see you and this happens before the attack actually goes off . -

I was better- but I seriously learned and went after my optimal drops. As Icy, that was Freakshow. Sweet, Tech-dropping Freakshows.
It wasn't everything I needed, but it sure did wonders for patching up Enhancements into that + or ++ range.
[/ QUOTE ]
Except that it seems (for example) that almost every magic-dropping enemy is resistant to dark attacks making fighting them with a Dark Melee scrapper or Dark Blast defender (especially) somewhat tedious compared to other enemy types.
The big problem with buying enhancements from contacts is that if you team up a lot it can be very easy to level up to the point that their best enhancements are barely useful by the time you unlock them. The last couple of alts i've played into the 30's have very often had their contact's enhancements be yellow 2 hours from the time they unlocked the "good stuff". Perhaps if contacts had a larger range of enhancement levels having them as your primary source would be useful. Otherwise you're effectively punished for teaming up a lot unless the Devs implement a system of forcing teams to cycle through each member's missions, which would still not fix the problem while being even worse. i also have to agree with the poster that pointed out that spending your time yelling over broadcast trying to trade with people who have access to the enhancements you need doesn't seem very superheroic. -

Good god, will anyone play anything but a defender or a controller next issue? This new blaster power looks pretty sucktastic to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree that it's probably not very workable for blasters, but it's not going to make you any worse off. It'll probably be as decisive as criticals in most situations.
[/ QUOTE ]
A had a crit help my scrapper once. Earlier that night aliens abducted me while I was attacked by bigfoot after having won the lottery.

My MA/SR scrapper crits quite often. It's almost always Cobra Strike that gets the critical, but sometimes you need that extra 5 or so points of damage...
Now if criticals also doubled/stacked status effects... -

No wings it would take up too much programming time.
[/ QUOTE ]
i suspect that the concept the Devs have for wings involve realistically animated bird or bat wings. While i think that would be very cool overall, i'd be just as happy to have the option to replace the flight effects with energy wings like a larger version of the Kheldian eye glow or insect style wings that just vibrate up and down and fold out of sight when flight is off or mostly stationary mechanical wings. i don't know why those sorts of wings would be harder to code than the capes, but i admit that i am not an animator. For example: take the animations for the Kheld Nova's mandibles and use the same articulations/movements for wings that sprout from your back when you toggle flight. Perhaps they could split the insect cape down the middle into two narrow capes and have each one stiffen/flatten while swinging up and out when you move instead of rippling back.
In the event that players might at some point have access to wings in a form that isn't part of an epic AT i would think they'd be a cape subtype much like tails are a subtype of belts.
There've been a lot of heroes and villains with the types of wings i've described in comics, so why not in CoH/V? -
My scrapper always wears black and grey to raids with a fairly minimal costume, but then i'm rather partial to those colors anyway IRL. Those and green, but green's not a scrapper raid color.

All that crap is grey to me, no XP.

Now that's heroism!

Damnit, i had a level 48 Malta ambush jump me as i came out of a Steel Canyon mission while i was soloing several weeks ago. If i'd known you were waiting for a group that gave xp i could've trained them to you. They were the only Malta ambush to faceplant me, ever, and they did it in 5 seconds. -
The thing that seems, well, odd about this change is that virtually all the powerlevelling i've encountered recently has been in instanced missions at Portal Corp. The only hunting i generally see on the streets of PI is for the Illusionist badge and the like. It's far more efficient for a level 50 tank to bring a group into, for example, the Dreck mission and repeatedly herd the freaks, arrest them and reset.
There are a few things that i would like to say to the Devs regarding their whole obsession with trying to curb powerlevelling at any cost:
1.) Changing a commonly farmed mission just means that powerlevellers will find a different mission to farm, and making all missions timed will just alienate every single one of us who allows real life to take precedence and can't complete every mission in the session we received it.
2.) As i just pointed out, all the hardcore powerlevellers i've seen or heard of never streetsweep anyway. Indoor/instanced missions eliminate interference from outside mobs/players.
3.) What someone does during their mission does not impact my enjoyment of the game; i really don't care if the group in "the next mission over" are busy stacking Wafflemen for massive XP. However, the ongoing attempts to stop powerlevelling do have some impact, and often not in a positive manner. Though annoying, most of the "fixes" implemented to "improve fun" have not annoyed me enough to seriously consider quitting CoH. Yet.
4.) Was there really a time (Winter Lords aside) when people herded/hunted monsters to PL? The XP given by monsters and AV's compared to the time and risk is so pathetic that i know of no reason to fight either aside from it being the heroic thing to do, to complete a mission or bragging rights. (Which is why i never understood why soloing an AV should be a mortal sin: it's in-genre, takes forever if you can do it and awards trivial XP with great risk compared to fighting minions.)
The only time i ever felt powerlevelling interfered with my enjoyment of the game was when Bastion's TF gave a hunt mission for the first mission and people kept hunting, getting the mission bonus and restarting the TF. This made it very difficult to find people to run the Taskforce and get the badge. The solution was to simply make the first mission a door mission, no awkward XP tethering or other elaborations required.
Simply put: Other people powerlevelling has almost no impact on my enjoyment of the game, but elaborate restrictions intended to prevent powerlevelling do. -

Is Petrifying Gaze (2 Acc, 2 Hold Duration, 2 Recharge) useful enough as a hold that i should ask about being part of the holding team during Raids?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Better would be more hold and less recharge, but what you have is good enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
i never looked up the numbers for hold duration and recharge on Petrifying Gaze, so it didn't occur to me that slotting for duration would be more effective.
Eh, it'll take all of 10 seconds to swap in a hold for a recharge; i think i'll give it try for regular PvE as well. Now i just have to make the time to get to a raid.
i blame our group of SG members that makes running missions so much fun. What makes it worse is that several of us have been alternating between our mains and some more RP-focused alts. -
What's rather amusing is that i ended up making a dark grey costume before taking my scrapper on his first raid without being able to find the raid costume thread, and i searched for a while. The choice was due to my own personal color preferences.
Is Petrifying Gaze (2 Acc, 2 Hold Duration, 2 Recharge) useful enough as a hold that i should ask about being part of the holding team during Raids?
It's the main reason i don't hesitate to take on Sappers in regular PvE...
(ToF is the other, but not relevant vs. Hamidon, at least AFAIK.)
Edit: Since i'm also regen, i suppose i should inquire about being part of the tanking team as well... *heh* Swiss Army Scrapper.
