I did mention badges/accolades having cross-side equivalents needing to be looked at before implementation (huge potential for bugs and/or doubling up of benefits).
[/ QUOTE ]
Most accolades/badges are the same on both sides with different badge name and graphics being displayed depending on faction, so doubling up seems unlikely. (Day jobs work the same way.) Once you have an accolade/badge you can't unlock it again, it's already been set to active. Even if an accolade has different unlock/activation conditions for both sides it's still the same accolade. What i'm wondering is what badge name will be used if a character stays to the middle, the grey area.
A new neutral badge?
The badge name used by their previous faction?
Cuddles? -
i thought they were Multi User Dungeons... (Hence MUD.)

And the only reason buffs aren't good at low levels are because they're not unlocked yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think that was the point of the statement.
Until level 12, every Empath is a healer whether they like it or not
[/ QUOTE ]
A "healer" who also has a primary/secondary as well. Before (and after) level 12 my Empaths are also shooters or controllers in addition to having heals. It's almost like they get more than one powerset, and those additional powersets do a useful amount of damage/control in the early game and even the late game if used well. -

It took my Defender (FF/EB) 3 and a half hours to do this mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your defender is poorly built.
[/ QUOTE ]
You read minds? Not to be offensive but we know his defender was played way too defensively, we don't know if he had more attacks but choose these to play it safe. Based on the last time I played my defender (way too long ago) i would say such tactic was overkill against minions but would had been required against bosses (certain bosses even if they went down to lt as I had big issues with certain power selection more than the rank damage itself.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Starsman, the fact that you're even attempting to defend a build/player that states it took him over 3 hours to get through a mission on heroic with ANYTHING makes me sad.
If he had stated it was a custom mission with nothing but thugs/pain mastermind EBs, then I could show some tolerance. But mooks? On heroic?
For a player that's been around long enough to have sands of mu and the wand or staff?
There's so much BS in that statement that he's going to need a landmover the size of a small stadium to dig himself out of it.
[/ QUOTE ]
/Ultimo_ It's the new jranger.
Seriously though, i don't know how anyone could take 3 hours to solo a mission at level 20 with a Defender other than exemplaring while playing a Defender who is a pure <something>. (H34lz0r, buffer, debuffer, sock puppet.) i have never played a Defender who solos that slowly with any set. i'd be willing to bet that even without vet attacks my FF/Rad could solo it in less than 30 minutes unless the mobs were set to extreme or something. Hell, i'd be willing to take a crack at it with my FF/Archery once i get to 20. i've never been a fan of Energy Blast for whatever reason, so FF/Energy is out.
[i]Edit: D'oh. Mooks, so not custom mobs and no extreme setting. Custom mobs tend to be tougher than regular mobs anyway. Yeah, bring on the mooks; none of my Defenders would spend the fight in Molasses Swamp. -

02 boost is a great heal with a decent CD(4 secs).
[/ QUOTE ]
((0.o))
...
My Stormie has O2 Boost, but it's just as much for the stun and end drain protection. IMO it's really rather mediocre as a heal. So if O2 Boost is a great heal, then my Dark Miasma users must have a heal that is nigh-godlike.
i play many support characters, but not healers. While i tend to favor debuffing types, i have alts with every support set, including Empathy. None of my characters are healers because it is the least significant aspect of their capabilities, so it's silly to call them that. i also don't call Tankers knockback resisters.
Just my 02 cents. -

Fire guy [not his real name]: Man, i need to slot me some of those endurance reducing thingys!
[/ QUOTE ]
i'd say this is at least as big a factor as not having Stamina. Even with stamina it's easy to frequently run out of end if you don't slot any endurance reduction in your attacks. i almost always slot end reducers and take Fitness, but pre-20 to 24 end reducers do a lot more for staying in the fight. -

I can't resist stirring the pot.
Some say "healer" isn't an adequate term, and to use "Defender" instead.
This leads me to ask: does a Trick Arrow Defender share more in common with a Defender, with a Controller, or with a "healer"? And which category does a Controller with an /Empathy secondary fall into--does the word "Controller" sum up what the team is getting when they invest in adding this hero to their team?

i saw this last week. (The trailer that is.) i will almost certainly watch this when it comes to DVD.
On a related note i recently acquired four of the early Gamera movies. (Gamera the Invincible, Gamera vs. Gaos, Gamera Strikes Back and Destroy All Planets.) i honestly think the old rubber suit movies have more charm than horrible CGI. OTOH, some of the newer films that combine mechanical effects work with digital effects have been brilliant. (IMO of course.)

If I were Recluse I'd wonder how I ended up in the only dimension with a "good" Statesman
[/ QUOTE ]
But it's to LR's benefit to be here. At least with a good Statesman who upholds the law and has to follow "the rules" LR has already carved out a reasonable powerbase and can continue working on plans.
[/ QUOTE ]
All versions of Stateman follow the law, and in fact they are all an embodiment of the legal system of their own reality. Statesman represents the United States, clearly. Reichsman represents the Reich, the legal order of Axis America, and Tyrant, of course, IS the law.
My theory: before all the Zeus nonsense, the Incarnates were the living embodiments of abstract ideas. For Statesman and his extra-dimensional counterparts, he is Law Incarnate.
It makes more sense, looking at the theme and behavior of the character, than the whole Zeus thing.

That's unfair to those who earn their post counts honestly. Without farming threads for posts.
For example:
Moderator_0U812
Arcanavillage
Bad_Influence
Chieta_Cops
Johnny_Putane
_Ultimoses_
and so many more...
All these (possibly fictional) posters only post to pour out their hearts and souls into making this a better game, nay a better world, for all of us.
For shame, padding post counts and trivializing the honestly earned post counts of these noble, selfless (possibly fictional) people!

For two and a half years I've seen what these devs can do.
And I know the results of what they spent the last year and a half doing after they were bought by NCSoft and staffed up.
And that is exactly what's got me down.
[/ QUOTE ]
Schwa? For the last year and a half they've been hiring staff, getting them up to speed and (we now know) starting work on Going Rogue. Before that they barely had the staff to maintain the game and still put out a variety of new game systems, content and zone revamps.
Something like a major overhaul to the game engine/systems i would expect to take about a year or more after getting up to speed. Especially since they have to maintain compatibility with the existing system and character data so that we can continue playing our current characters, and this is just assuming it's mostly a rebuild of the graphics and their implementation in powers and the like.
If they're also doing things like revamping the game's AI and some of the overall powers code i expect it would take nearly as long as starting a game from scratch, which takes years. (Hell, look at how long CO and DCUO have been in development. CO started as MUO years ago before changing their branding.)
It's not as if the instant they have enough staff they can just link hands, chant and poof a brand new version into existence. i'm actually quite impressed with things like the VEATs, customizable weapons and MA system that have come out in the meantime. The expansion/costume packs, power and AT adjustments in the past year and a half have all been good things IMO.
Not being a Dev i don't know exactly what will arrive in the expansion, but i'm looking forward to finding out. The hints and comments in the last year or so from the Devs suggest the outline of something pretty impressive, but i look forward to seeing what form it actually takes. In terms of content alone i expect it to be equivalent to CoV. i suspect that upgrades to the game systems will be far greater than anything that came with CoV.
If the waiting's too much go ahead and play on of the other superhero MMO's and then decide if you want to come back when i16 comes out. i don't think any MMO is going to give you what you've stated you want out of a superhero game in the past, not even CO or DCUO, but i still hope you eventually find it. -

[/ QUOTE ]in his sig. That's the most bizarre and pointless suggestion i've seen in a while. i mean i could do that, but then i'd just go to the hospital, base or log out the character and nothing will have changed. Setting aside the question of whether that constitutes intelligent advice, it certainly seems a bit "odd." (At the very least.) It kind of reminds me of a schizophrenic i knew who was convinced he was some sort of vampire lord in real life. He'd latched onto random bits of the White Wolf game mixed with movies or books and was occasionally harassing a friend of mine because he was convinced she was the queen to his vampire king. He eventually went away, but like most schizophrenics he was completely incapable of considering anything outside his vision of reality. -

Also...why are people that I have ignored even posting here still? Hmm..let me guess worshipping their almighty Gods of the Forums.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why is he concerned that people he is ignoring are posting at all? Sounds like he is suffering from paranoia just like B_I.
[/ QUOTE ]
Besides, how can we tell if he's ignoring anyone? i'm sure his ignore list is doubling by the hour, and it's not like there's a "View list of people this poster is ignoring" button.
Also, why would we care even if he is? The sheer arrogance and dismissiveness with which he responds to anyone who disagrees with him is a rich vein to mine for comedy. The fact that he is so obviously lacking in the ability to see or understand anything from outside his narrow perspective continually provides fresh material.
...
On further consideration i think i want to switch that to a composting instead of a mining metaphor.
Oh, could someone be a dear and list the forums gods for me? i have absolutely no idea who they're supposed to be, and the closest i generally come to worshipping gods is to gently mock and tease them. Usually i just make fun of them. Come to think of it, King Ares (the poster formerly known as ArestheInhaler) has a god's name doesn't he? i guess i just need to know the names of the rest of the pantheon. -
Some people like colons, some like CoX, and some don't like either. We'll see what settles out once Going Rogue has been live for a few months. Even now there's hardly a consensus.
-
IMO an Empath isn't primarily a healer anyway, unless you're not playing it very well, though at the lowest levels you don't have many other options. Even so, at the low levels sets like Radiation Emission and Dark Miasma (to name a couple examples) can keep inexperienced teammates up and going as easily as an Empath. My Rad/Dark when starting out was soloing Hollows spawns of 8 or more easily, and was even better on teams.
Anyway, i'm hardly a *lol-uber* player. i've seen some, and i'm nowhere near that good. i've never soloed a GM on one of my Defenders or Controllers, nor have i beaten the RWZ challenge on one of my Scrappers. (Admittedly i haven't tried, either.) -

Take, for instance, you have 200 glasses of water and they're supposed to be equal at 50% capacity. One of the glasses is a little over, at about 60%. Does it make more sense to just pour some out, or to add more water to every single other glass? And if you're taking the no-pour approach, what happens when you accidentally overfill one to 65%?

"Champions Online is new so it will kill CoX"
I got tired of hearing it too. Most of this seems to come from people who left here bitter
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe you should wonder WHY they're leaving bitter.
Maybe the devs should too.
Could it be that after years of asking for things they want, THESE devs still wont deliver on them but OTHER devs will?
Could be it that few or none of these things look like they will be in the overblown issue 16 they're calling an 'expansion'?
Or that the expansion means that a true sequel to CoH (which may have the things those people want) is not going to happen any time soon?
If our devs refuse to give these players what they want, and other devs will, why should the players be happy with our devs and why should they stick around? And leaving quietly doesn't deliver the message to these devs WHY people are leaving.
If the devs get the message they may smarten up.
Or they may opt not to fight for their business. Frankly, if they're not willing to fight for their customers, that says a lot about how they feel about their customers, and how their customers should feel about them and the game.
.
[/ QUOTE ]
i think a lot of what you're saying is based on false assumptions and trying to perceive everything in the most negative light. Of course this is just my opinion. While i don't think the Devs have done everything perfectly, i do think that, PVP changes aside, overall the game has changed for the better since NCsoft took it on.
Since you haven't actually given a concrete example of what you consider to not have been given that should have, or what has been done wrong, my reply will have to be very general in nature as well.
Honestly, if those other games are giving you everything you always wanted here, but were denied out of spite, i think you should go play them. If you change your mind you can always come back. -
