On another note, scrapper inherent is totally primary.
[/ QUOTE ]
i could swear the Scrapper inherent is totally damage, not powerset, related. Damage auras and attacks in the secondary get crits, and i could swear pool attacks do as well. Am i remembering it wrong?
[/ QUOTE ]Of the Scrapper secondary powers that deal damage (Death Shroud, Dark Regeneration, Soul Transfer, Blazing Aura, Consume, Burn, Rise of the Phoenix, and Shield Charge), none are capable of critical hits.
Pool power attacks can crit, though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, okay. i didn't recall seeing crit messages from Death Shroud, but don't usually focus on the aura messages while fighting. i did recall seeing AS crit messages. -

Felecia might come across as a bit self-important sometimes, but that's just silly. She's no Skyppy, and i think she really means well.
...
What the hell is wrong with me? Trying to be the voice of moderation and reason?! i probably need medication or something.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mod08, is that you?
[/ QUOTE ]
i doubt Mod08 knows who Skyppy is. If i actually liked the majority of humanity i'd wish that no one did. So no, not Mod08. Unless, of course, he's inside my heeeeeead, moderatin' mah brainmeats! AAAAAAAAHHHH!
But otherwise definitely not Mod08. -

Which is hilariously sad, as the background is all they have rights to.
They aren't allowed to use the Hero system.
LOL, then again i've heard some on outside blogs say the same thing about THIS game.
I don't agree, just saying they say it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Champs was a great set of rules attached to a mediocre 'universe'. I had a ton of fun playing it over the years, but we used our own settings.
I'm not fanatical about the CoH setting, but Lord Recluse > Dr. Destroyer, Arachnos > Viper, Positron > Defender, etc etc.
The Champs universe was just very derivative and stale.
[/ QUOTE ]This i agree with. i've played Champions many times, but no GM i've played has ever used used the default universe in their game. Or even the default characters for that matter. The NPC's and settings have usually been custom made and/or extensively reworked.
The game system itself is awesomely flexible, if a bit intimidating to those who hate numbers, but most of the number crunching is just addition and subtraction once you get past character generation and there have been numerous programs written to make it all easier. -
[ QUOTE ]
No I meant page 2 on Champion Section.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not for me. It's always been on the main page, but i don't leave my forum display settings on default.
The thread itself is a barely 4 page thread for me. -

This.
I'll stick with MOB(S). "Critter" sounds like I'm fighting squirrels, raccoons, or gophers.

That's coming in City of Vermin: Going Rural.
They're still negotiating for the use of "Terminix" as the EAT name, so it may be delayed. -

13) Yo momma is so fat if she were a Mastermind she'd name her minions Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hey! My Necro/Poison MM, Granny Trichinosis, named her minions Ham Sandwich, Tuna Salad, Omelet, Salmon Loaf, and so on. She wasn't fat at all, just a bad cook. -

Wicked Wendy:[ QUOTE ]
Well the first mission we get is the Safeguard in Talos. Now keep in mind I said TALOS that's 31-36 level territory so you sort of assume at that point that players have at least some clue how to play their characters and the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Talos is actually more like 20-30; it's Bricks and Founders that are closer to 31-36. At 31 you can't get scanner missions in Talos anymore. Still, the point stands that by that level they should have some idea of how to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe Wicked Wendy is referring to the Safeguard where you protect the Talos Island Bank, not the Safeguard you actually get from running Scanner missions in Talos Island. In Talos it is possible to get the Steel Canyon Safeguard (Levels 20-25) and the Independence Port Safeguard (Levels 25-30). The Talos Island Safeguard is Levels 30-35.
[/ QUOTE ]*facepalm* D'oh.Yeah, that makes complete sense, and makes the story even more tragic.

I was chatting with my bud on MSN, when he told me about his anti GM characters. I said wow. But it is actually giant monsters. So here is the conversation.
[ QUOTE ]
Al says: do you have civ IV?
Island says: no
Al says: darn, one of my good friend has it and i wanted to barrow it, so i can install it and crack it XD
So whats up?
Island says: about to play CoH using my newest and most advanced set yet; the Anti-GMs (Giant Monsters)
on server Liberty
Al says: anti GM ehh? Finally, we can break the rules!
Island says: lol
Al says: lawl
Island says: Anti-Paladin
Anti-Deathsurge
Anti-Lusca (Lusca = the huge octopus)
Anti-Winter Lord

Al says: What about the anti giant monster for your mom? XD XD XD XD XD XD
Island says:lol

Still can't see the funny or interesting part. i guess either i had to be there, or it's like one of those "magic eye" pictures and i'm not crossing mine correctly.

<ul type="square">[*] Casts Immobilizes on the Knockdown Patches[/list]
[/ QUOTE ]My Grav/Storm does that all the time. Freezing Rain followed by Crushing Field. Watch as most of the spawn flops in place. Not every immobilize has a -KB component.

Amusingly enough i ended up running the Virgil SF several hours after the organized event was over.

I've always liked the idea of Doms, but never liked their actual implementation that well, so I tested this a little, and looked over the numbers. The nerfs outweigh the buffs, leaving Doms still the worst, most underperforming AT in the game as far as I can tell. Still no reason to play one.
[/ QUOTE ]
What numbers did you look at?
Because none of the numbers i've seen and analysis i've read from people whose knowledge of the game's mechanics i trust suggest this anything but a buff to overall performance outside of level 50 Dominators who routinely double or triple stack Domination. Even then you can alter your slotting to take advantage of the higher damage cap, making the difference minor at worst.
Admittedly none of my Doms are 40+ or heavily IO'd, but so far they perform much better solo with the changes, but i haven't done any teaming on test.
What is the "idea of Doms" as you see it, and how does it differ from the implementation? -
[ QUOTE ]
If one is as blind to slot is toon as he his to post about doms in the city life general forums, either he's a troller, either he should try Bingo.
[/ QUOTE ]Are you sure you're not ELF_STALKER?
i have no idea what your post is supposed to mean. My best guess is that you're saying that anyone who would post anything about Dominators in the General Discussion forums is blind for some reason, and that blindness extends to... slotting decisions?
Not quite sure how Bingo or "trollers" figure into that at all. i can only guess it's some sort of odd insult against people who play Controllers, or something?

On my Widow it's Poison Dart, especially when they try to make a run for it.
Having an enemy get twenty feet and crumple is somehow funny. -

I have big question about your forum avatar. Don't you think that having a 3.35 MEGABYTE image is kind of stupid and inconsiderate to others?

ELF just makes friends and influences people all over the place. -
Confuse tends to be the Achilles' heel of otherwise highly mez resistant enemies. Very handy against certain Arachnos bosses and lieutenants in particular.

Also, there are generally some nice people in the help (/hc) channel and will help you folks team up.
[/ QUOTE ]Oh yeah, forgot that trial accounts have access to that channel. -

[ QUOTE ]
Rest assured that if anyone makes fun of you for not having a picture, they will be subject to the forum's wrath and derision, not you.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's where you are wrong. People without pictures just plain shouldn't be in the forums. Buncha no avatar losers is what they are.
[/ QUOTE ]i second that!
Welcome to the forums, demon_conquer! Take your time when composing a post, proofread it all you want, we're a patient lot and will probably never know the difference. (Except for appreciating the greater readability.) Punctuation, especially question marks, helps a lot when posting questions, amirite?
i hope your enjoy your time on the forums and in the game. -
If you and your friend are both on trial accounts and want to team together the easiest way is to approach another player (preferably with at least one veteran badge), explain to them in local chat that you're friends on trial accounts who would like to team with each other and ask if they could invite you both to a team and then quit the team.
You can also approach other players near your level range and just ask if they could invite you and your friend to a team if you want to join a larger team.
There are some jerks out there, but most players are helpful and willing to assist new players. -
[ QUOTE ]
But IC you wouldn't call em critters either would you?
[/ QUOTE ]
IC i generally wouldn't call them mobs or critters. A couple characters might use mob when fighting Mooks or Family, but even then most wouldn't. (To make it worse, a few characters would tend to use spawn IC when referring to single enemies.) -
[ QUOTE ]
My emp defender is really good fun to play.
That's enough for me.
Eco
[/ QUOTE ]Well played Emps are awesome. i wish they were a larger percentage of Empathy players, especially in the later game where using heals alone becomes less viable, Medicine pool or not. -

I love it. Four people have responded to this thread and two of them have said "I've never had any problems with communication; everyone I know uses it for [x]" and they're using different meanings.
[/ QUOTE ]Really? Looking at said posts, I read:
mob = one enemy
mobs/MOBs = more than one enemy.
and also: group/a spawn = more than one enemy.
But almost every post (other than the OP) seems to agree that mob = one enemy.
Perhaps this is the real problem behind the (apparent) misunderstandings in the game. Some people just don't seem to read...
[/ QUOTE ]
i have been encountering a lot (incidentally, "alot" is not a word) of players on PuGs in the low to mid levels who do use "mob" to refer to groups, not single enemies. This becomes extremely common on the occasions when i agree to join an AE team. (i tend not to stay on such teams for very long, but that is a topic already thoroughly beaten in other threads.)
i tend to use mob=single enemy and spawn=group myself.
