What about illusionist and other badge farms? My complete lack of interest in farming missions has left me a bit unclear on that.
To be honest, i sort of recall a thread on this subject about a month or more ago, but i didn't pay a lot of attention then. -

Even in real life, there are social rules that go beyond what the law binds us to, and those that violate them are outcast and often threatened. When doing a purposefully unpopular action repeatedly, you can't claim you're sad or astonished that people don't care for it.
[/ QUOTE ]Instead you express your astonishment in interviews and publish a book about it. -

Its a global channel for Badges, Monsters, Task/Strike forces.

For the Champion community. It's excellent for joining or forming task forces, teams, community events, and such. Thanks to the people who moderate it!!! You're the best! (Was that sucking up? Oh well, deal with it!!)

Also a great channel for general chat and fun conversations when certain moderators aren't on!
[/ QUOTE ]*pffft* Cobalt just keeps people on their toes. If you can't find a way to say something that will get past Cobby you're not even trying.
Unless you're trying to recruit for a farm or say something really vulgar and unsubtle. Cobalt usually overlooks innuendo if it's not stupidly obvious. Cobalt also doesn't like AE farms very much, but after some of the PuG's i was on this weekend where it took a very long time to explain to new teammates how to reach Founders or Bricks (and the lack of competence on display when some of them got there) i can sympathize a bit with Cobby's view. -

I've noticed this as well. Great change, I love seeing the bosses as it gives you someone to pound while the AOE's do their work.

My tanker will be there.
Gained about 22 levels or so since the last time. Would probably be 50 if i'd done farms or played a tank the whole time. -
Was this you?

I am a COH player and veteran of other online games. I'm not a huge fan of PVP, but even though I rarely go into the PVP zones, I had heard of Twixt through the grapevine. However, contrary to this article, Twixt was never the most reviled person in the game or even on his server, just a minor annoyance to the small PVP community with delusions of grandeur.
In my experience, in game or real life, you get back a lot of what you put out there. If you treat people with kindness and respect, they tend to treat you with respect in return. On the other hand, if you treat everyone you meet with contempt, you should not be surprised when people start to dislike you. Or to put it even more simply, what goes around, comes around.
This rule of "social groups," to do unto others as you would have them do unto you, did not originate with video games.
The article makes it sound like "magically transporting other players to a robot firing squad" takes some kind of skill. It does not- even a non-PVP player like me could sit around and do that all day if I wanted to be as scorned as Twixt. In the game it is generally considered cowardly since there is not any actual fight or skill involved. Yes, it is technically within the "rules" but is not considered sportsmanlike or honorable. If what this article claims is true, it wasn't Twixt's "skill" that kept him alive, it was his ability to hide behind the robotic skirts of the zone drones.
His "experiment" seems to be to test the hypothesis that if you behave like a jerk in a video game, people will treat you like a jerk. Shocking, groundbreaking work there. GG Prof. Myers.

Actual post here.
Very well said. Quite honestly i feel the tone of the article and the Professor's own words show him to be very lacking in even a pretense of objectivity or awareness of how many others actually viewed him in regards to his own behavior.
i also recall him being a topic of humor and mild annoyance for most, not "the most hated player in the game". True, some of the PvP types might have felt that way, but even most of them just thought he was annoying or amusing IIRC. -

You'd have thought they'd be generic'ed by now? o.@ Never run into them myself. I'll keep an eye out.
-C.A.
[/ QUOTE ]There's little reason to generic them since Paragon Studios is unlikely to sue itself if players emulate in game factions. -

I'm still kind of confused why heroes are launching the missile though. Unless it's assumed that we are launching an payload-less missle into the sea where it will only cause a small ecological disaster instead of the huge catastrophe it would cause if the villains launched it into Paragon City with its payload intact.
[/ QUOTE ]Heroes are launching the warheads into space, where they can later call them down on their desired target... generally always in Paragon City.

you'd think there would be a conflict of interest there...somewhere....

The conflict is interesting. -

I use this option on any character that can't handle the hazard zone sized spawns, even a mob of monkeys can be deadly!

But it's fun to watch them when they're caught in my tar patch and ice storm.

So you're all basically saying that the fully functional SG base I've manage to set up is largely going to remain solely occupied by myself and my alts?
And that I'm going to be mostly without teammates unless I'm doing the endgame raids?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well... yes, for the most part. Part of the problem i think comes down to that since no one plays redside on Champion no one plays redside on Champion; it's sort of a feedback loop. Redside used to be quite active on Champion, with lots of very active and entertaining SG's. Actually, it seems to me that redside population has declined on most servers.
The real problem is figuring out how to counter the decline. My power of making silly and/or snarky comments isn't very effective here, any other ideas? -

Blue mito chaining crossing zones also occurs with the Weakened Hamidon in the Lady Grey Task Force. Ran into it last night on Champion when we exited the mission and the blue mito lightning came with us and started arcing between some characters who were standing near the mission door on the roof of the Vanguard base..

Saturday i was on a team of 8 that ran the Manticore Task Force.
At least two of the laboratory map missions had level 40 Paragon Protector Elites in several spawns. Since the task force is level capped at 35 they were tough but lucrative foes. Several times there were multiple spawns with PPE's in one room.
The PPE's were all the fire blaster type, and other than their infernos being near-instant death for the squishies on the team that got too near them they weren't that difficult to take down. After the first couple we just had the squishies keep their distance while the meleers engaged them. i kind of like having them appear, but level 40 Paragon Protector Elites might be a bit tough for more casual or less experienced players, especially since several missions are defeat all. -

Frost is correct, but I don't think anyone is worried about what Superman would do with a nuke. It's more like, would you give a nuke to Wolverine? The Tick? Deadpool? They're all heroes, but possibly none to be trusted with nuclear weapons.
[/ QUOTE ]So every time a hero acquires a nuke they're also launching a toxin/bio/nuclear weapon at their own home town? Sweet!
Makes me think of one of the things Dark Helmet said. -

i have a Blaster who is a magical girl who uses an assault rifle as her magical weapon. Then a few months after i made her i started watching Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, which is all about magic-focusing technologies. Very inspirational for a character that was conceived as an trigger-happy, rifle-using magical girl.
Actually, the power-boosting cartridge system some of the characters in Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha use is also highly reminiscent of inspiration use on a character.... And seeing a magic staff ejecting shells like it's an antitank gun has a certain charm. -

How are they different at all? I didnt notice.

Here's a comparison.
I'm not sure what about the new ones would "completely ruin" a look, personally - but then again, the blurred blobs that were supposed to be bolts drove me nuts on the old ones.

It's kinda like bitchin' that your crayon-scrawled sign of "4 sale buy ownr" in front of your house was replaced by a sign saying "For Sale By Owner", only slightly less exaggerated.

To the community,
I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. While I once had an account active ages ago I never did much play the game (my son did). Now Ive found myself getting more and more into the game and thought it was a good time to jump on the forums and say hi.
Im currently playing a hero named Justificer and a villain named Agent Axis. Anyway, just thought I would pass the word. See you all in game.

Am i the only one who thinks it's amusing that he frequently acts like a villain far more convincingly than most villains?
So, five hours from now in Grandville?
Or maybe Talos Island?

If so i am so there!
