  1. i've enjoyed your videos and would be very pleased if you did make a comeback trailer for issue 16.

Getting you into the closed beta would be a nice gesture of appreciation, but honestly you can make a video that's just as good, timely and relevant even if you have to wait for the open beta. (And it will be truer to what the actual release will look like and be easier to make when most of the bugs are fixed anyway.)

i hope you do decide to make an issue 16 trailer, but there's plenty of time at this point to make a final decision. Just do it soon.

    Yeah, you sure showed him!

Thank you for fixing the server status page, people in charge of that sort of thing, it's nice to be able to check it again to see current status.

    Second half answer: Yes.

No. /loc's only function is to tell you your exact position on a map. It's mostly useful for bug reports and telling others where something is.

About 5 years i used a command that continually displayed a character's current coordinates in the corner. Now i don't remember what the command was.
Anyway, AFAIK there's no way to set a waypoint by inputting the coordinates.
  7. Crop as much of the height as you can and then resize it so that its height is within the limits allowed for signature images. That's all you can do.
i don't know what software you're using to edit the image, but most graphic editing software could can leave it recognizable even reduced to the size of an avatar image.

That was the original design concept, but Brutes are actually better at gathering and holding aggro for teammates in most actual play, which is where the role of tank is meaningful. Masterminds who dip into the presence pool can come close, but don't have the inherent taunt effects that Brutes do.

technically, phase shift can be used with other stealth powers.
The defense from all powers that grant defense will stack. Which is a moot point for most stealth powers since they can't be running at the same time.

All these claims were dismissed without leave to amend, meaning that they cannot be re-filed. Generally the sale of products with substantial non-infringing uses does not evoke liability for contributory copyright infringement."

    The sky is falling
i'd completely forgotten that, though now that you posted it it sounds really familiar. Marvel didn't help their position when they had employees create attempts at clones of Marvel characters in the game IIRC. (Which i probably don't recall correctly at all since i'd already forgotten the prior bit.)
  11. This animation bug is pretty minor and actually sort of cool:
If you use the Drink Formula costume change emote while flying it defaults to a flying version of the neutral stance afterward and stays in the pose until you move. If you're just above the ground and turn off the flight power the character will continue bobbing just above the ground in that pose.

Also there isn't any set that they share that doesn't also have some sort of +RES, +regen, heal, or +HP along with DEF, so even if they're both DEF capped, not only does the Tank still have more HP, but he has more RES/regen/heal power.

Also, Tank damage scale is 0.80 and Brute is 0.75. Tanks start out slightly higher until Fury rolls in.
    You Ma'am are correct.
That's what i get for being imprecise. (Which is why i gave no hard numbers at all.)

i mean if im flying above you and your swinging a sword at me im going to kick you in the face to get some distance so i can blast you
Some of the powersets do have a kick as the Brawl animation. If you go with Archery you will use a kick for brawling whenever your bow is out.

The game's engine does not consider relative facing or position when fighting, so there's no way to tell it to use a kick animation just because you're above an enemy. If you're in range of an enemy your attack fires using the standard animation regardless of where you or the enemy are located relative to each other.

Brawl itself doesn't mean punch, just unrefined melee, so the Devs could've used a kick or a headbutt or even a puff of flatulence as the attack animation, but they used a simple punch instead. In the end your complaint is purely about the look of the power, but there's a good chance they might allow the kicking animation as an alternate animation in the future since issue 16 will be adding the capability to use alternate animations for powers.

    One can hope.

As for the second half of the (slightly hazy) post, Evil will ALWAYS triumph over Good. Because Good simply isnt twisted and bitter enough to counter Evil plans -smirk-
In all seriousness, no. Good and Evil, game wise, are mostly equal. A Tank and Brute, for example: Tanker is as tough if not tougher than a Brute, and has little to no end problems. Brutes do more damage due to Fury, but most if not all suffer from endurance problems.

    It evens out.
A Tanker is tougher than a Brute unless both use set bonuses or teammate buffs to cap defenses. Tankers and Brutes have the same hit points and defense caps, but Brutes start at Scrapper defense levels and can't match a Tanker's durability using the same powersets without outside buffs or set bonuses.

Brutes start out doing about the same damage as Tankers, but then it gets boosted by Fury so that overall they do more damage than Tankers. Brutes have no more endurance problems than Tankers and actually do more damage per endurance using Fury. Brutes tend to run out of endurance faster because they spend less time taunting and more time attacking. Brute damage drops whenever they aren't attacking so they have a very good reason to not stop or slow down unless forced to do so.
  16. And with that the servers are back up.

You could also start reporting colour combinations that you don't like. In fact i fully support this as long as you understand that it's more likely to get you in trouble than anyone else.
  18. Aside from looking here or attempting to log in, does anyone know of any way to check server status?

While the server status page and RSS feed are very good at keeping me informed as to what the servers were like on June 24th i'm really more interested in the current status.

Only in the comic, which is minor and probably set in an alternate Paragon City, and nothing compared to what's in game. Hell, the instanced maps of Atlas Park when villains and heroes take on missions set in the present are missing WW and AE.

Ignoring for the moment that the word is "copyright" (it's really not a hard word to spell), i know you've been here long enough to recall when Marvel sued Cryptic and NCsoft alleging that the game was a copyright and trademark infringement tool. This was (obviously) an expensive thing for Cryptic and NCsoft. (Win or lose, lawyers are not cheap.) In the end it was settled out of court with the agreement that Cryptic and NCsoft would take steps to prevent infringement of other companies' copyrights and trademarks. There were probably other stipulations in the settlement, but i haven't read it myself.

The alternative is to have the game shut down/bankrupted as it is quite possible to face severe penalties for allowing copyright infringement. Hell, Disney even took action against a day care center for having pictures of their characters on the wall without permission, and forced them to paint over the mural. It does happen in the real world, and Marvel's business model is based on marketing their characters and other IP in various media, of which comics has become more of a minor sideline of their merchandising. They will sue for use of what they consider their property without compensation.

Asking the playerbase to report obviously infringing characters for review by the game's staff is much less expensive than hiring a full time crew to do nothing but review characters for possible infringement or giving up and shutting the game down. You do understand this, right?

That said, i rarely report a character unless it's an incredibly blatant ripoff of some other company's character as i've got better things to do usually. If you're running around as a huge green brute with Das Hulkster as your name and a bio cut and pasted from the Incredible Hulk wikipedia page i will most likely report you if i'm not otherwise busy.
    And i won't be sorry.

They did not say one thing and do another.
    From the announcement:

please allow for early release or an extension as necessary.
Apparently they used the early release option. Which isn't all that bad considering how unstable the servers have been recently. While the community reps do occasionally tell us why, especially for unannounced downtimes, this one was announced well in advance. In this case i'd think the why would be pretty obvious to anyone who has been playing the game recently anyway.

srmalloy, I don't know about other folks, but come I-16, I'll have absolutely no reason to use the AE unless I want to go run someone's story arc. I'll be cranking through paper missions solo set for a team of 8 on the 4th difficulty and in doing so, will be dumping all the salvage I get on the market for 250 inf a pop. I won't need to make cash off of the market because I'll be capped out on inf from running missions.

I doubt I'm alone in this.
Most capitalist models and ideologies are not based on selling stuff cheap because you can't use the money anyway. If the average farmer is capped on inf (avoidable by converting the inf into bids/items through the market), then they have no reason to take the time to sell salvage.

i doubt that this will make supply outstrip demand. i think that the majority of people farming AE will continue to ignore salvage rolls, and i suspect that's the source of the current salvage scarcity. People could be getting and marketing salvage now, but they just don't. I-16's added difficulty settings won't change that. Sure, those who are inclined to make the effort to market salvage will make a killing, but that's already true. Despite the popular wisdom that people and markets are completely rational (which, incidentally, is working so well in real life), it's often simply not the case.

Philanthropic gestures (such as selling salvage cheap just because you can) are rarely anonymous in real life. Selling salvage cheap is an anonymous act. inf-capped farmers unloading dirt cheap salvage out of the goodness of their hearts is a nice concept, but i have my doubts.
