My Tanker is looking forward to a slimy sewer spree.

Quote:Also, his first name is Wesley.Snipes. Gawd, don't get me started on those.
What other people have said is quite relevant. A tool for pulling, picking off a runner. A burst of damage to take out a troublesome enemy, (Malta Sappers, Freakshow before they heal, Tsoo enemies before a Sorcerer heals them) and of course a long ranged attack that allows you to damage an enemy before they get close enough to damage you. First strike.
But they could be improved. Every few months a flurry of snipe-themed threads pop up on the subject.
i agree with what Fenrisulfr posted and rarely take snipes on any character, though some snipes are pretty cool looking. In general i don't find them very useful outside of very limited situations. My D3 used to find Moonbeam a very useful pulling tool with 3 dmg/range HO's, but that's about it. -
Or they'll just have a bunch of picked-apart, pretentious gibberish with no tangible intelligence within. Being tightly-wound some fail to realize that 1337-sp33k often has nothing but stupid pretentiousness in it no matter how much you dissect it.

Quote:Random punctuation is random.Cause most of it was true they did tell players they would get a ban for lvling to fast but still i hear ppl saying i got to 50 or so in like 2 days. and CoH knows they cant get rid of AE cause its one of there prime features so its nerf/nerf/nerf until its used like they intended
For the most part the "nerfing" that has occurred in AE is a good thing. People will continue creating simplistic missions with mission text that makes smacking your face into the keyboard look like Shakespeare and are intended to maximize the reward for the effort, but by reducing the rewards for mission designs that minimize risk the Devs allow content to be more balanced.
Want to design a mission that features a single enemy type that you have an advantage against? Go right ahead, but the rewards will be less than fighting a varied and challenging group of enemies.
Nerf/nerf/nerf is the logical response to exploit/exploit/exploit; the real challenge is minimizing the impact of the nerfs on non-exploiting content. i think the current changes on test are doing a fairly good job of addressing this, but some tweaking is still needed.
The article itself was a bit superficial and largely irrelevant to the game, but the comments range from insightful, to clueless, to inciteful.
...Is everyone really sure they want Blpup to write more? Really? The short bursts of sentence-like strings of mostly words are slightly difficult to parse. Posts containing full-on paragraphs (or large blocks of word-like text, whatever) would almost certainly be a painful experience to actually read. -
Oh come on! Manticore shot Statesman in the heart with an arrow. That was hilarious! And then they brought Statesman back to life. (Okay, that last part wasn't quite as funny, but it was still funny.)

Quote:Actually it's, uh, the Devs are making the Freakshow xp reduction retroactive to a year ago (somehow) and increasing lower level xp in the present? What the hell does that even mean? It's like one sentence was fired out of a cannon and smashed into another sentence, forming a sort of mangled mess. I can sort of parse some of it, but what is the overall meaning an intention behind this?
Someone drank too much of their namesake?
I had one grunch, but the eggplant over there?
A wizard did it?

Announced here:
- Master of Reichsman Strike Force
- Master of Reichsman Task Force
- Master of Imperious Task Force
A Master Marathon!
Oh yeah, there's some other sort of neat stuff in the issue as well. -
Quote:i agree. Being able to effectively double the duration/output of accolades and tier 9's every 10-15 minutes would be incredibly exploitable. The final battle of many SF's/TF's comes to mind, just for a start. You're forgetting Accolades and defensive Tier 9s.
This could lead to powers such as the Vet Recall being perma, among more trifling items. Just having Archmage up all the time would be pretty nice though, as would be having Geas, Elude, other Tier 9s...insta-dual builds would just be over the top good.
i like biff, he reliably makes good bad examples. -

Quote:i play on Champion as well.I play on champion...why does everyone thing that it is sooo easy to find people
I have a hard time finding anyone to play with, I play as a villain and I play on champ..when people are on they are either in AE, farming in GV or standing there doing lord knows what...I don't understand why some people think that gaming on the large server is as easy as gaming on a small server.
I joined the server BMT and I have been asking if anything is starting redside and I get private tells telling me that CoV is a dead game and that most people play CoH. I ask publically who wants to team... nothing, I search for people and ask them if they want to team, they say no they are farming or they not looking to team.
I have run Temp Power Tuesday, Strikeforce Saturday... I sit there and wait and no one wants to go at it. Someone said that they already have those of blueside
Teaming on a smaller server really is not that easy as everyone says it is.
Redside is slow compared to blueside, but far from dead.
The past couple of weeks a friend of mine has been running redside teams as she levels up another villain and is currently in the low 40's. This is by running mission arcs, not AE. Focusing on getting badge arcs and missions on the way up. As long as there's lackey room and you can contribute even lowbies are invited.
i haven't been involved since i'm working on finishing a build on my latest Defender, but i regularly see people on several global channels running redside content and inviting others to join them. When super-sidekicking goes live it will be even easier to form teams redside, and i will be there leveling up my Fire/Earth Dom, Archery Corruptor, Huntsman and possibly a Clawlz Brute.
Over the years i've seen a lot of content added throughout the level ranges. Sometimes with the addition of new contacts or missions, and also by adding new maps and mission designs to older SF/TF/arcs. i regularly join in teams running various TF's, Hami Raids and occasionally SF's. i know of several LRSF runs a week, and i haven't even been playing my villains lately. This is all on Champion.
Though many of the teams start in various SG globals, they usually advertise on BMT if there isn't an immediate full team just from the SG channels. Again, all on Champion. BMT is useful, i filled a GM hunting team pretty quickly through BMT Tuesday, but it also helps to make connections with active SG's/communities as well. For example, on any given evening there are several Pingu-affiliated people playing redside and chatting on the Pingu channel. Monday to Thursday can be pretty slow at times, but there's always something going on Friday to Sunday. It's an unfortunate fact that many of the people who play the game have to work during the week to pay for it, and don't have as much time to play during the week. -
Quote:Same here. i have a Scrapper with a costume slot i can never edit because i'll lose his Malaise pants if i do. The same thing holds on a couple other alts that have pieces that are no longer accessible.Sorry if this sounds callous but many of us are in the same boat as you are. We have a costume slot we don't dare edit because we'll lose that now unique costume because things have been "fixed".
You just have to do the same thing as the rest of us have for the past 5 years . . . suck it up and deal (especially since yours was a glitch that was never intended to be allowed). You have 4 other costume slots to play with on that character. -
My first 50 was a Dark/Regen Scrapper. (Mostly because Dark Armor back then sounded like a never-ending dental drill symphony, never mind the endurance costs.) Anyway, for several weeks after hitting 32 and getting Midnight Grasp his battle cry was "Feel my tentacles!"

Quote:Viridian's Duplicity Mastery.I'd go for some other patrons that touch on aspects of Arachnos not included by teh_fore. Kalinda's Fortune Mastery would be a good one. Or Dr. Aeon's Time Mastery would be fun... Viridian's Extortion Mastery?
You get a stealth/PBAoE damage* toggle, 2 confuse powers and the ability to summon a random Longbow/Arachnos/Malta pet.
*Yes, it grants both at the same time. -
Quote:i was recently fighting them with a Defender and they seemed to aggro at the same distance regardless of whether i was using Shadow Fall, SF+stealth IO and no stealth at all, so i think the ignore stealth approach was used on them as well.Hmm, now you're making me doubt myself. I just checked the Knives_of_Artemis_Inherent powerset on CoD, and there wasn't anything there with +per. I don't see anything in their individual sets that give it, either, so you may be right.
Mildly annoying. -

Quote:Listen to the whole thing, I liked it.
Then again, I listen to quit a bit of Trip Hop, Industrial, & what not.
JJQuote:I listened to the whole thing. Some parts made me shudder, but the opera rapping and the sections with the kids singing were downright hilarious, lol. This should take the place of XP Debt as a penalty.Quote:That was one of the funniest things I have ever heard in my life, and I was kinda sad when it ended.
Playing it again. Seriously, haha, I can't stop laughing. Do all your shopping.. at WALMART!
Who.
Murdered.
All.
The innocent.
Children?!
i did! Me! Me! Me!

Quote:Like Dalantia said, with two identical builds no power has longer recharge than 15 minutes as long as you can go to a trainer. Reducing the recharge or allowing to switch on the fly would be very, very broken. Changing this would be non-trivial, perhaps requiring a costly rewriting of the basic game code for a minor benefit.Builds don't "remember" the state of their recharge. The power recharges completely, instantly...automatically. This is why people have joked that Mission Teleport has a recharge of 15m.
Doesn't mean it's impossible, but unless it comes as a side-effect of some other changes i doubt we'll get build switching on the fly. -

Quote:Did a speed STF* the other day and never noticed the bug. Then again, most of the ranged members had rain powers, so it's likely that those interrupted the repairmen without needing to target them. The bug is still there.
It is possible to overcome it, but it's still quite annoying.
*i'm not sure if speed is the right term, but we went after the main objectives and ignored the riff-raff (basically anything below AV rank that wasn't a required target), relying on splash damage to take out any that followed us. Turns out you can also ignore the Thorns in the vine room and just take out the vines and the tree directly. When it came time to take on the four before Recluse we fought them all at once as well and just focused on each one in turn starting with GW. i'm sure this is old news to some, but it was the first time tackling the STF that way for me even though it's the same basic approach as a speed ITF. -

Quote:Ah, the 7900 is a bit better than the 7600, but i'm thinking of building a new system soon, so i may wait a bit longer.I tried running in Ubuntu on a 7600 and it runs, but graphics quality is absolutely awful. Many advanced graphical features are outright disabled.
You can try it, but I wouldn't bother.
Or i can just go reinstall Windows with the latest drivers and try it both ways for myself.. -
