This one in particular would be sort of useless for me. My flying Defender hits flight cap simply by turning Fly on. And that's just with single-slotted Swift and BotZ in Fly.

Supersonic Burst would be completely useless to most flying characters unless you can talk the Devs into raising the flight cap. Something which is incredibly unlikely to happen.

Edit: Also, swinging and tunneling are the only really new powers in CO. All the other "new" travel powers are basically flight with different animations and effects. The more i look at the CO implementation of swinging the dumber it looks. The string to nowhere doesn't really bother me, but the animation just looks bad in my opinion. Tunneling i do like, and a better animated version of swinging i would be willing to accept. i would also like to eventually see alternate flight animations, but not by making 5 different flight pools or anything.
  2. i suspect the descriptions are different partially because the powers have been changed several times since the original descriptive adjectives (high/moderate/fast/moderate) were assigned. Especially since the text was copied over from when they were in other sets with other values and then modified for Doms.

The high, moderate, extreme, long, etcetera adjectives are partially a hold over from when those terms were the only information available to players regarding power capabilities and were only supposed to be for comparisons within an AT and within the primary/secondary set categories of the AT.

Even then they weren't really consistent, and i think the original adjectives may have only been accurate before the original CoH open beta. Or something like that.

Anyway, the point is that the descriptive adjectives for a power generally don't get revised when the power is ported to a new set or archetype and/or changed. At some point i hope a member of the development team is assigned to update the adjectives to conform to some sort of standard scale and check to make sure they accurately reflect the power's actual stats.

Those are already pretty much easy mode.

True. Except for Petrifying Gaze which no effect but the hold.

Now i know procs slotted into pets only trigger if the pet uses the power of that type, but i don't know if it applies to the enhancement boosts.
For example: the hold set damage procs when slotted in Dark Servant or Singularity only procs when they use their holds.

What i'm not clear is whether an hold set acc/hold/end IO will increase the accuracy of the pet's non-hold powers. Do non-pet set IO's increase the accuracy of all the pet's attacks, or just the attacks that would normally accept that set?

Then obviously i'm doing something wrong. My Dark/Ice currently (on live) has Dark Servant 6 slotted with Cloud Senses.

I can only *imagine* how I would feel if I were told that I had to leave all of my old characters behind in order to merge servers with the EU. I would go ballistic, and so would every last person in this thread - although of course you could not get that admission out of them with a red-hot hammer and tongs.

I think offering the EU people a free transfer of their characters would be a very nice and classy thing to do, as well as retaining a few players.

But eh, the hell with that! Let's just tell them they're "whining" and the sooner they quit, the better. Right?
Nobody who has been posting here is actually in a position to offer anything. Anybody can say "don't let the door hit'ya where the good lord split'ya." It's just words posted by other players, some of whom have, possibly, gotten tired of "if the Devs don't give me what i want i'm running away to my new daddy (CO)" posts.
Or posts that ask about server merges that only exist in the poster's head.
Or just posts that make false/nonsensical assumptions.

FYI: You do not have to buy Going Rogue. You do not have to buy it in Europe. (Unless you want to.) You do not have to buy it in North America. (Unless you want to.) You do not have to buy Going Rogue. (But i will, and rather hope you will as well.)

Now, if the issue is that you feel that the European servers are underpopulated at your playtimes, then you could try asking the Devs if it will ever be permitted to transfer accounts back and forth between the NA and EU systems. Remember that making demands and threats is usually a poor way to ask that sort of question.

If you're tired of CoX and need a change, then there's no problem with taking a hiatus and playing another game, be it CO, WoW, DAoC, AoC or HKO. Of course taking a break may very well solve both problems. The Devs might implement an account transfer system in the meantime, and/or the release of i16 and i17 while you're gone may cause a surge in server population that raises it to whatever level meets your threshold.

But you know what? Asking the appropriate people and doing it nicely when you ask them is the best route to go.

Which would've been more acceptable if stores had been implemented like the neighborhood markers and appeared as a selectable waypoint after you discovered them.
*eh* That's all far in the past now.

After i figured out how the client crashing bug worked i was tempted to log onto test and ask something like "What's the base defense of Elude?" on the Beta Testers channel just to watch as dozens of players names vanished from the channel list as they crashed their own clients. i don't remember all the details now, but basically any time % was in a chat input used without a letter or several other characters immediately after it the client would instantly crash to desktop. So typing "CJ gives 2.5% defense" or any chat input using % similarly would do it. No error message, no warning, just instantly looking at the desktop.

    That's what competition does.
*heh* i took advantage of the deal even though i suspect i ended up on a naughty list somewhere since i haven't received a single closed beta invite since the CoV beta. i can't recall offhand anything i might've done except for sometimes being a snarky inglourious basterd on the boards now and again. That and only occasionally logging on during open betas and reporting the random odd bug. (The one where typing % into chat instantly crashed the client to desktop was my personal favorite.)

No air control in Gymnastics? Interesting. It does make it different from Combat Jumping, though a bit less useful IMO.

i think it was supposed to be a way to add challenge and a time/influence sink for anyone who wasn't a damage or healing focused AT. A lot of the early decisions seemed to be based around the idea that having to search for things like stores and sources of needed enhancements types for anyone not purely damage-focused made the game more challenging and fun. More along the lines of a traditional fantasy-MMO with spandex added. Back then enhancements were the only "loot" the game had anyway.

Still, it added a very non-super feeling minigame, which the overall game has moved away from since. It would have been more thematic if contacts had sold enhancements cheaper than stores, but then it's been years since i bought any from a contact anyway. The last time was shortly before i realized that contacts who were supposed to be close friends actually jacked up their prices more than anonymous shopkeepers.

Okay, it made sense for Indigo and Crimson, what with being sketchy superspies who seem to take a delight in inconveniencing real superheroes, but the rest are just jerks.

i like the idea of a swinging/zipline travel power. i don't have many characters that would use it, but if it is practical to add it to the game i would be all for it.

Anyways, NCSoft tends to err on the side of caution when it comes to player characters. Your actions could possibly cause them to infringe, and they don't want you to be taking any risks for them. They could spend a lot of time and money determining what the case for infringement would be for each and every character that gets reported, but that's not really feasible. They instead take a shotgun to the issue.

When it comes to their own characters, however, they take whatever risks they want to. With those characters, they do spend time and money determining if a case could be made for infringement. Thus, they give themselves more courtesy.
And even then they ended up changing Bastion's name to Citadel.

    Nerf everything? "wait wut!??!"

You do realize that without a lot of explanations and qualifiers most of your post reads like you don't actually play or know anything about the game, right?

There have been a lot of buffs to the game in the past year or so, and leveling speed for almost all players has been increased in that period. Unless today was opposite day i think your post was pretty farcical on its face. Eh, what?

That's not to say there haven't been some overcorrections and mistakes, but nothing like what you're gibbering about.
  22. Sure, i may be missing out on the awesome experience of having groups of players camping out spawn points hoping to beat others to the mission objective when it spawns that the new game has, but i'm still here. (Do any other current MMO's still use that mechanic?) i will wait for a free trial to see how the live version is, but the animations and models i saw in the beta were pretty damn fugly, and not i'm not a huge fan of regressing from the instanced model of newer MMO's to the old clunkiness of masses of players camping the spawn point for a quest objective.

Also, liking much of what's on the test server for this game right now.

Not likely to leave here, but if a miracle happened/happens in terms of that other game's looks and gameplay i may invest in a second home there. Can't say i thought much of the neighborhood when it was being built, but sometimes a bit of shrubbery really turns things around.

You see, after I use Reveal and the map loads (which takes a moment or two in instances, yet is instant in zones), I can plan the route I'm going to take through the mission in advance. Like if there's a fork in the path, I'll know which fork leads to a side room which may contain clues and other objectives, and which leads deeper into the mission.
i also use the vidiot maps patch, and Reveal has been very handy for locating plaques and badges in outdoor zones. Also for the Shadow Shard.
