Devouring Earth: Cleansing the planet by infecting it. (Hey, it sounded good when we were on all those mushrooms. In fact we still are.)

Quote:More likely the latter.A cap on prices would create a player-run "black market." For all effective purposes, you would be able to wait in line and pay capped price with about 500 other people, or you would be able to buy it directly from "the source" for twice what things cost now.
It's perhaps a sign of incipient dementia that this is what ELF's thread title brought to mind for me. -
...you are.
Quote:i'd bet that keeping the buff effect colors consistent has as much to do with making it so that other players can see what the power did when activated as making it so you can. It's the same reason that a number of powers in the armor sets cannot have their effects turned off. Not every player has the time or familiarity with buff icons to be able to glance at the corner and instantly recognize what happened, but now every player can change power colors. So seeing as some ice and fire animations are almost identical, wouldn't it be just as silly to say someone couldn't tell what that was because of the color changes?
I'm not sure it matters, if you're paying attention to buffs/debuffs/etc, it's going to show up on the bar to the left. There's no reason for it to stay one color and not change.
So you can't tell that RA has gone down because it's no longer blue and green?
Silly reasons IMHO.
Epic's and pools I'm good with waiting for. Not allowing me to customize the entire set AIM/BU is just silly.
Far from a significant issue in my opinion. i'm pretty confident that pool powers will be getting the same customizability in future updates, but we've gotten today is already a nice lump added to the awesomesauce that is CoX. (Or whatever hyperbolic gravy/pudding/sauce metaphor you want to use.) -

*bwahahaha*
Like liquid awesome? -
Quote:One of what? Those appreciative of real world nuclear physics?Sad thing is, I WAS going to make my Emp/Rad with light blue powers, but only because his color scheme had always been white/sky blue for the years I've been here.
Now I'll need to think of something else or people will think "I'm one of those..."
Oh, the horror! -
Quote:Or do what i do: When i'm not actually in combat and want to be stealthy i just leave Sprint toggled on. Of course in combat the IO does nothing anyway. (i tend to do the same thing even without the stealth IO for getting around in the early levels.)...I like to slot the Celerity IO in Sprint instead. That has a couple of benefits. First, I can slot SS with either RunSpeed or EndReduc, and I can control when I want stealth. The downside is you have to remember to toggle Sprint on for a second or two every two minutes to retain full stealth.

What i do currently: Any invention salvage that i don't need i put on the market at what the stores would pay for it.
Unless it already sells below that price, in which case i may buy a few bulk lots and sell them to the store. It's not my fault that the common salvage i priced at 250 is being bought at 10k or more, but it does give me easy inf. My main use of AE aside from trying fun missions/arcs is to get salvage. At 8 tickets per roll selling common salvage on the market makes for an easy way to get the nest egg to start buying IO recipes and crafting them for resale. Which is primarily how my current main managed to make over a billion inf while also slotting sets in about a month and a half. That, and patience. It took nearly a week to get some of the recipes i wanted after bidding on them, but it's not like the common or frankenslotted cheap set IO's i was using in their place didn't work. -
Quote:Having recently been reading some discussions of vegemite i'm tempted to buy and try some marmite. (By every account it's like a better version of vegemite.)Well, most of this thread has been tl;dr, but I can say this in relation to whether we've realized the potential of the new PvP or not. If McDonald's suddenly started putting Vegemite on their Big Mac, would you tell the people who thought it was disgusting the same thing? Sure, some people like Vegemite (supposedly) but does that make it a valid thing to say that people just haven't gotten used to it being on the burger? Of course not, people would demand the original back and McDonald's would probably admit they made a mistake (and possibly still offer the Vegemite burger as a separate item if it actually sold at all).
Oh, here's a combo: Vegemite and natto.
Quote:Exactly, and well said.
I think some of the changes they made are very necessary. As an OPTION. In a new pvp'r zone. PVP didn't have to be trainwrecked across the board. Offer it as an option for the beginner. Just like they have a tutorial zone for pve, they should have made the same thing for pvp.
A diminishing returns system for heals, buffs and debuffs wouldn't have been so bad if it had been a bit less severe in the diminishment or implemented differently.
Before i13 i liked using my D3's controls and debuffs in zone PvP to assist teams. Far from optimal, likely to get my squishy butt killed, but it was fun. -
i wanted to like the "new" PvP, but i agree completely with macskull's analysis.
In my opinion the worst part was that character powers now function so differently in PvP compared to PvE that it actually increased the learning curve for players new to PvP. -

Quote:It's sort of cheating, but i've used that trick several times. At certain distances on maps enemies render before the intervening walls do. It's especially amusing when you have Wormhole or Teleport Foe.In my experience, as long as the target and the objects/wall/etc are so far away that neither of them are graphically rendered, the targetcustomnext will target it. If you get close enough that the objects/wall/etc are rendered, then the targetcustomnext won't "see" the target that's behind the obstruction. Targetcustomnext works best if you can fly and have a lot of room to move.

Quote:True, but since i used Ping's advice to play the market on a casual level, and mostly do TF's i've had no problem IO'ing and accumulating inf.Interesting bit of trivia, AE is to blame for a lot of the high market prices on purples and rares. I'll not go into detail, but a bit of perception should make it obvious.
Supporting, but not essential, anecdote: My 50 Dark/Ice Defender doesn't currently have any purple sets, but has complete sets of everything else, the Numina, Miracle and LotG procs my build called for, 30%+ ranged def, moderate to near-capped resistances and 40%+ recharge bonuses. Then again this is a casual build designed to be fun to play, not to max out any particular stats. Things will will get a bit better once i get the purple sets i want, but those are a long term goal that involves patience and bidding low until i start to get near the two billion inf mark. Then i might decide to splurge. -
Quote:Excellent. i still prefer to use macros because otherwise you have to retype the bind every time you need to find a new enemy type. Also, my macros get pretty large after a while since at the higher levels i have a lot of secondary targets i set and forget beyond the target of the moment. Things like sorcerors, sappers, surgeons, cysts, quantums, voids, meat doctors and the like. i may be searching for "bomb", but i like to know if there's a sapper or the like around as well./bind h "targetcustomnext consigliere$$follow"
This is what ended up working. it targets and follows the Consiglier. Thank you for the bind help -
Quote:Not really. The proc chance is only checked when the attack hits. Not when the target takes damage tics, whether it's one or ten.I appreciate the insight you all have given me. Another question came up while i was going over the posts. Would it be more beneficial to slot the proc enhancements into someone who has a DoT aura?
However, certain powers can proc multiple times because they spawn a series of pseudo-pets and any procs check/roll every time a pet is spawned. Volcanic Gases from Earth Control is an example of this. -
My standard is to use the macro:
/macro find "targetcustomnext targetname"
Macros can be edited by right-clicking them, and you can extend it if you want:
/macro Find "targetcustomnext targetname1$$targetcustomnext targetname2$$targetcustomnext targetname 3"
And so on. Of course you can also add modifiers like "enemy" and "alive" like SkyRocker's post suggested.
As a rather large tangent it occurs to me that it would probably be possible to code a program for use in PvP and general play that would set a teammate's called target as a targeting bind using a program similar to herostats and the /bindload command. -
Quote:i don't think the flight speed slotting info has been updated since the speed of Fly and Hover was increased. With one 50 IO in both Swift and Fly plus a couple minor set bonuses my 50 Defender hits the flight speed hard cap.http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Travel_Powers
includes a handy-dandy table with all travel power limits
Just logged on and double-checked. Showing hard-capped speed of 58.63 mph.
14.32 mph base
+39.14 mph from Fly with one 50 IO
+02.78 mph from Swift with one 50 IO
+02.72 mph from set bonuses
Edit: Total uncapped flight speed is 58.96 mph. It appears any slotting that uses more than one 50 IO is a slight bit of overkill, even without Swift. -
Quote:Excellent first post. Not anywhere near UniqueDragon standards, but entertaining nonetheless. The Travel Power Is Motorbikes I Haven't Decided On Power Names But If I Do I Will Let You Know And If You're A Mastermind Your Pets IF Human Follow You On Skateboards And IF Ninja They Super Run And Of Robots They Use Rocket Boots And If Zombies They Have Motorbikes Too

Quote:You mean i16, right?Sorry, but I'm done waiting and soloing. I already purchased a lifetime subscription to Champions Online. Just a few more weeks, and I'll be able to play with others again.
In CO it's almost impossible to get players to team, and the interface for selecting/locating missions when on a team is incredibly annoying. Going to CO because you're unhappy with the current state of teaming on CoX is like moving to Antarctica because you were unhappy with how cold the winters in Minnesota were. In CO you're even more reliant on establishing a friends list to find anyone to team with...
That said, i'm going to wait a few more months until the Dev team is done smacking themselves and the players in the face with unannounced game-breaking (well, character build breaking) changes and then give it a shot. By then they might have upgraded the team interface to be almost as good as the interface at CoH launch. Not that i'm going to give up CoX when i give CO a try. -

Not so much. Mine is more like a raccoon, or one of those other animals that has a knack for manipulating objects.
Quote:Since this position is for our Hardware Compatibility Lab, we’d prefer someone with an understanding of metals and how they conduct this electricity thing. In addition, understanding of bios, operating systems and drivers would be just damn handy. If you’ve ever spent a weekend bludgeoning an aluminum box with insults as to why it won’t boot from a SATA drive, then we’d like to talk to you.
Hmmm, i do build my own computers, but most of my skill in dealing with OS issues and drivers is called using Google and RTFM. (Which when i worked in the electronics section of Staples had many customers convinced i was some sort of tech genius. Most of said genius consisted of grabbing and reading the relevant material when a customer couldn't figure something out.) That and i've always had a talent for making machines do stuff. Occasionally stuff they weren't intended to do.
Still, it's a temporary job in Austin, or i'd be all over applying for it.
