Quote:i suggest that Shubbie form a duo with Ultimo_.Hey I admited my mistake fairly early on in the post.
I had already dropped it before i made the post, I just forgot to mention that in the original post.
So solutions were irrelevant at that point.
And Yes Im sure I am the only one who is having this problem, keep telling yourself that.
i know i would. -
i think my headdesk was so energetic it caused a volcanic eruption on the other side of the planet. Ow.
Ultimo_, read and try some of the serious advice given regarding slotting. As pointed out, attacks exist to convert endurance into damage. The most efficient method is to first slot for damage, then endurance reduction. Of course that damage means nothing if it doesn't hit, so at least one accuracy is a good idea.
The thing that puzzles me every time is that none of this is new. The math and principles behind basic attack slotting has been explained many times before in other threads. It's not complicated, and is covered in just about every basic guide. Are you sure you're not giving our legs a tug? i mean the build you posted looks a lot like some of the joke builds posted in humor threads.
Hell, this was covered about a year ago in your "MY FF Defender Suxxors" thread. Back then people gave simple, useful, effective advice on slotting. Either you're ignoring it just to tweak us, or...? Yeah, i got nothing.
Good luck with whatever it is you're attempting to do. -
Quote:Well, i joined a team running it earlier, and the method used was fairly straightforward, if a bit reliant on certain powers.How. Seriously, how? Someone help me. I have tried everything, and i can't seem to find a way to not get hit by the mines. Director 11 runs so much that it's impossible to hold him down, and the mines go off at a ridiculous range.
Does ANYONE have any insight?
Try to make the team has several pets, immobilize powers (AoE immobilizes especially good), and some dropped/PBAoE repel type powers like Bonfire, Hurricane, Force Bubble, etc.
1) Defeat the War Walkers and gather at the warehouse door.
2) One player with Assemble the Team waits outside the door while the others run in and click the devices. When all devices are clicked the team is teleported back outside the warehouse.
3) Summon all available pets and enter warehouse. The team should stay right by the entrance and use repel/KB powers under foot. When Director 11 comes hit him with immobilize powers and AoE/dropped debuff/damage powers.
4)Profit!
Director 11 spawns invisible, untargetable pets that run around the map laying mines. The mine layers can be destroyed by player pets and AoE splash damage and kept away from the team with repel/KB effects. As with most AVs single target immobilizes help keep Director 11 in one place. AoE immobs lock Director 11 in place and do the same to his pets.
This isn't a guaranteed method, but it can work. -
Quote:In a thread in Player Questions it was reported that PvP IO recipes are currently the only reward dropping in PvP...I wasn't aware the NCSoft developers took over the production of mids. Maybe it's because PvPIOs no longer drop in the game.
Not sure which to believe, but there it is. -
One of those random musings that was sparked by looking at the local paper and seeing the horrible, horrible Spider-Man newspaper comic which currently has Aunt May being courted by the Mole Man.
It seems to me that i've read of several other stories where one super villain or another has courted or otherwise sought the company of Peter Parker's dear old aunt, causing all sorts of stress and panic for Peter. Sometimes it seems like Peter's life would've been simpler if the mugger had shot Aunt May instead of Uncle Ben.
Does anyone know how many times Aunt May has been the object of attention by one of Spider-Man's foes? -

Quote:Playing on a Mac or Linux system?"A couple dozen"??? I have nearly 70 that I have to deal with - and just about each and every one that is at least lvl 14 has Fitness as their power pool. And because I can't grab a screen-catch of my enhancement slots screen, I'll be doing a lot of writing down things - especially with my lvl 50.
Add in that Tuesday's are my laundry day, I'm gonna have to start packing for a weekend away, and baking the first batch of shortbread for the season - for that weekend - well, I'm gonna be busy as it is.
But I'm soooooooo excited.
If you're using Windows the program Titan Sentinel can be used to create a Mids' data chunk for importing your live build into Mids'. Assuming you're running Windows and not averse to such things.
Edit: And Wanted NA beat me to it.With links.

The only pack i didn't already have was the "Party" Pack. At half price i probably would've purchased it, so i guess it's just as well that it wasn't on sale.

Quote:Wiping out groups of enemies in seconds is NOT "overspecializing!"Well, when we look at the Widows, any with psi potential either get moved into the Fortunata branch, or if they overspecialise in martial skill, get promoted into the Night Widow branch.
It would stand to reason something similar happens with the Soldiers - any Wolfspiders with psi potential or martial skill get moved into the Bane Spiders (with those displaying weaponry skills moved into Crab Spiders), although game lore also states that children with psi potential are brought into Arachnos and raised into soldiers. -
Quote:The difference is that a farm is much like a player created version of a scanner/paper mission. A map with a group of enemies that you beat up for rewards. The enemy type may be selected to take advantage of player character strengths and/or enemy weaknesses. Sort of how many scanner/paper teams tend to go for missions with factions like Council and Freakshow. The farm enemies gives rewards within the normal ranges for the speed and safety with which the enemies can be defeated.May I ask what the difference is between legitimate farming and an exploit? I don't read the forums much, so I'm not exactly sure if we're talking about the same thing. I'm talking about AE missions that are made to just kill enemies, make $$$, and don't offer any storyline like the "traditional" missions in the game.
Exploits use flaws in game mechanics or coding to earn rewards many times greater than normal for the time and challenge of the enemies being faced.
Edit: It's worth noting that for many skilled players time is far more relevant than risk. Most of the time the player has little chance of being defeated since they know what their limits are in regards to how many or how powerful the enemies are that they can successfully defeat at one time, so the real limiter is how much xp per minute defeating enemies within their capabilities will give. -
Quote:This makes a lot of sense. Of course it also means that no amount of testing, anecdotal evidence, or explanations by other players, Developers, or any human agency is likely to change his mind. He KNOWS that accuracy has changed and his faith in that knowledge is effectively stronger than any evidence to the contrary. Anything he sees as affirming this faith is true and anything that runs counter is wrong or irrelevant. That pretty much ends any possibility of agreement since basic mathematical facts aren't subject to revision or compromise. No matter how strongly someone believes 1+2=4 everyone else still gets 3 as the answer when they do it.What I was saying, and it seems it was worth saying because I'm now repeating, was that after careful consideration the OP really isn't interested in anyone correcting his understanding of game mechanics, as you were pointing out in your post; he is convinced that accuracy was nerfed, and that if his understanding of the mechanics is at fault, all it means is that the problem lies elsewhere. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant when he said:
"Accuracy reduction is not a myth. And I will be the first to acknowledge my own in-game testing seems to point that the "math" being presented works out correctly. The point of what I posted is that we noticebaly began missing suddenly, like 3, 4 and 5 times in a row and now requiring 2 accuracy enhancements or a higher level IO to compensate for it. I have been here since CoH Beta and this was never the case."
So when you said:
"B_D, please, you were mistaken. It's totally forgivable that you got this stuff mixed up. It's not rocket science, but it is kind of complicated. There was no nerf. You've got some of the people most knowledgeable about game's hit-chance mechanics that exist in the player community responding to you in this thread. They're correct here.
Think about it. If Mid's contained information showing the kind of discrepancy you're describing, and if the makers of Mid's really trusted their powers info enough to believe that discrepancy was valid, do you really think the makers of Mid's wouldn't have come to the forums posting about it? Or that someone using Mid's wouldn't have noticed by now?"
I don't think it matters to the OP. Either our information proves accuracy was nerfed, or our information is wrong. Either way, I don't think our corrections are meaningful to the OP. I'm not even sure the OP is reading my posts at all. -
Quote:Well i'm pretty sure GIMP saves in .psd format and it's free to use. Basically they want it in .psd format so that things like background images, foreground images and text can be tweaked or adjusted. It would be nice if for once these contests didn't require .PSD format.
I appreciate it's the go-to format but I'm sure there are plenty of people like me who are pretty artistic but don't have time to buy/learn that.
Another competition (like the loading screens one which I was so excited about at first) which I shall be missing.
i'm thinking that Catnip Coolers and the Rikt-eraser would be fantastic products as far inspiring catchy designs. Rikt-erasers are shaped like lawn gnomes, right? -
Quote:*sigh*You also skip over a pretty important "fact" in those events. They were players with heavily tweaked and "time expensive" or "farm expensive" or "auction house expensive" IO builds.
Players who have accomplished such events were not casual players with Single Origin builds, mixed SO/IO builds, or casual IO builds.
The reality is, not everybody in the game has Perma Phantom Army. Not everybody in the game has perma-AM. Not everybody in the game has Perma-Hasten, Soft-capped defenses, high regeneration, and high recovery. I've been biting my tongue since Oedipus's way out of line quote from earlier in the thread:
The number of players who have Illusion builds that are capable of doing this can probably be counted without even having to use all your fingers and toes. The number of players that can pull this off is not, by any means, a significant amount of the player-base.
Which is just one of the many reasons the developers haven't taken any steps to "deal with" builds that players can see as over-powered. Very few players ever reach that over-powered state, and the developers are largely content to allow the players to feel a sense of achievement at successfully working the Invention System to do something their character was never designed to do to begin with.
Nowhere in the post i was replying to was it specified that the activity was being done by average players. In fact the offhand reference to soloing GMs implies that the statement was about what it was possible for characters to do in the game, period. Not average or below average characters, but characters across the performance spectrum, which would include high end builds. -
Quote:And if you take it in the opposite direction things like Trap of the Hunter will eventually be very rare drops. "I got three purples and a Trap of the Hunter last night." "Trap of the Hunter? I've never seen one before. What's it do?"IMO forget price caps, changing the drop rates would probably have a more beneficial effect. Something gets to pricey, make it more readily available until the market is saturated enough to lower the price.
Real world commodities work like this (gasoline being a very good example). -
Quote:"XxEvilfIrEBoltzxX? He's that jerk who spends all his time playing games in the AE, right? I don't think I've ever heard of him beating up anybody in the real world. Forget him."From the original description of what infamy and influence were -- a measure of your ability to get people to provide you with assistance (i.e., enhancements or salvage or recipes) because of your reputation in the community, whether for good or ill (i.e., redside, it's through intimidation -- they do it because they're scared of you), I've never understood why you earned influence or infamy in AE missions. It seems to me that diving into your electronic navel, although it may be realistic enough for you to improve your skills with your powers, does nothing to increase your respect or fear in the community, and it certainly does nothing for the prestige of your SG. "xXxBlazingBoltxXx? He's that 'hero' who spends all his time running virtuals over in the AE building, isn't he? I've never heard of him taking down so much as a single Hellion or Skull; save your adulation for someone who's actually helped protect Paragon City."

Quote:Actually, yes. There are players who have done solo and duo Mothership raids.I just glanced back in the thread and blinked at this.
... Soloing content meant for groups of 20 or more?
Um, let's see. Mothership raid? No..
Eh, there was a sillier thread early in the weekend. It's gone now, so i'll say no more about it. -
Quote:Honestly, i don't expect a mass banning of anyone who used the farms. Most likely the GMs will review the various farms as well as the activities of those who made or used them*. i expect some of the worst offenders will be suspended either temporarily or permanently, and some characters will have the levels rolled back, but a mass banning of anyone who created or entered a farm is very unlikely.Except that people who used the exploit are very likely to suffer the banhammer. Get ready for the wailing and gnashing of teeth that will happen when people start getting banned after the exploit is fixed. They always wait until it is fixed to dole out the punishments for using the exploit.
*Amusing side note: i've joined a few teams running various AE exploit farms, usually unknowingly and occasionally out of curiosity, and based on comments in some of the mission text it's amazing how many of the farm creators seem to believe that deleting the farm will wipe out all traces of it ever existing. After all, it's not like the data on virtually all activity in the game isn't automatically archived for datamining and evaluation purposes. Oh no, not at all. -
Nah. If that's the way whoever created the image wants to do it that's fine by me; it means that i don't have to do it myself. You're welcome to do it over if you want. i can't guarantee that Arkyaeon will want to use your image, but you can ask.
Edit:Quote:Hmm unfortunately the key organiser for stuff on the Union EU server doesn't post on the forums and also that is incredibly snazzy Schismatrix, clear, concise and funky looking, nicely done. -
Virtue has a stickied thread that uses a periodically updated image to announce the regular raid schedule. Impromptu raids are not uncommon, but those are erratic and are usually the only ones with predetermined leaders.

Quote:That's completely reasonable. With the Release of i19 it will be Nerf, my guess is the only reason the Exploit hasn't been Stop yet, is because they want us to get 50's for the incarnates System.
...
No, wait, i meant silly.
Personally i think it's because they didn't know about the farms until i19 was pretty much committed for release in the near future and the predownload was already in place. i don't know what the exact technical reasons for it would be, but i've noticed that the Devs do not release any patches to the live client when they're preparing to release a new issue in the very near future. They effectively freeze the live client at whatever the current version is when the update is nearly ready for release. This has been the general pattern since Issue 1.
Or... Yeah, sure, they want a bunch of unskilled, inexperienced 50s bumbling their way onto Incarnate TF teams to raise everyone's frustration levels during the TF. Pure genius.
Not that it's that hard to get to 50 anymore if you're really intent on doing so. Pick an alt to focus on, join some active global channels or active SG coalitions and focus on teaming with experienced players and running TFs, and you can hit 50 in less than a month without ever being in a farm. If someone's really that interested in reaching the new "endgame" they can get there quickly enough. -
Quote:Grackle meet spackle.Has anyone ever "whined about whining" and not sounded stupid doing it? Probably not. Especially since it required reading a thread of complaints that someone is supposedly against, just so they can say "Just don't listen to those guys! Man, it's so annoying to listen to you"
Pot meet kettle. Speck meet plank.
Ships and shoes meet sealing wax.
Cabbages meet kings. -

Do you usually find ammo on the battlefield slowly spinning as it floats in midair?
