  3. I won't presume to speak for others but here's my take on it, as someone who may be perceived as a complainer by some in the community.

First off, I have played the game for over five years so that tells you something about how I feel about the game - but I often find myself at odds with certain elements of the game that the Devs can implement. That can be stories and the overall direction of the game - such as the Incarnate storyline. (Not to be confused with end-game content - but simply the fact that I have to be incarnate.)

Similarly there's other elements I dislike... but ultimately the things I dislike are far outweighed by the positives. So I continue to sub - although I have unsubbed for times when I felt that a section of the community that I care about was totally ignored. But once I learned those concerns were being seriously addressed, I subbed straight back.

Finally - and this is the most important aspect of this I feel - I am a paying customer. As a subscriber and buyer of Paragon product if I just sat back and let the Devs do stuff I really really dislike without voicing my opinion then there's two things going on: They don't understand what I like (and therefore have the opportunity to make more stuff I like and thus take more money off me) and then I stop enjoying the game.

But if I just post a small "I'm a bit meh about X" in a thread of 76,583 posts that won't get noticed. If I start a thread saying "I really hate XYZ" then at least there's a chance that somebody might notice it - whether they choose to do something about it is up to them. So far I'm still playing so it can't be all bad.

we're still very much alive Robo... but sadly RL has grabbed a few of us simultaneously which has caused a bit of a quiet time.

The good news is I'm back in action and I understand a couple of others in the team are too, so this means we'll be bringing some cool EERC event goodness your way very soon.

    Keep watching the skies

I'm posting this because, every night, Freedom and Virtue have three red bubbles through most of the evening.

It seems to me that driving traffic to the other servers would be a lot more beneficial to the game than bogging down the two most already-populated servers with a lot more people. Because, and you can check the forums of just about any game, F2P or not, the first post most new people make is "what server has the most people, so I can play there?"

Those servers already have issues dealing with the lag (not all the time, certainly) and places like WW, train stations, RWZ and Oro are already crowded and lagtastic.

I know that the devs have repeatedly said they value and are going to be protective of the interests of people who are already playing and paying (and have been) - why not preserve the interests of what is probably your largest chunk of customers by preserving those two servers? It would keep the "culture" of both servers intact, prevent them from becoming completely overloaded every night, and would have the added benefit of helping the population grow on some of the smaller servers.

    Thoughts?
I can see a lot of benefit with rebalancing the Free servers once the VIP server goes live. Maybe restricting the ability to transfer characters to the most populated for a while or create new toons there. Maybe even offering incentives to make new chars and SGs on low pop servers... for example, teams of 4 or more get a 10% XP bonus for the duration of that team on a server for a month... then switch it to a new server...

that's just an idea but yes I like how you're thinking

  8. I crash everytime Keyes completes.

The error I get is always:

    Quote:
    ./piggs/texGui1.pigg: Failed memory allocation
    Read failed for file: texture_library/GUI/CREATION/Login/coh#uk.texture
    -1

The game ran out of memory and must now exit.
This has happened every time I've successfully completed Keyes (3 times total) on 2 characters.

    Any clues?
  9. Being the critical curmudgeon that I normally am I've tried all kinds of ways to think of the downside to this. I really can only think of a couple or minor points, but this actually seems better compared to other MMOs and indeed better than the deal we currently get.

As things stand, we pay our monthly sub and we have to buy boosters.

With Freedom, we can pay our monthly sub and earn the boosters anyhow.

Plus I can play my 2nd account without paying for it

There's a lot more to this game than just the Hollows. Since I joined in I7 two Hazard Zones have had a huge makeover and the Hollows got a minor one. There've been a significant number of new zones added - including a small expansion that provided four zones (or 6 depending how you count them) that comprises Praetoria.

Then there's Ouroboros and Cimerora and AE.

Incarnates: Now people have stuff to do at level 50 - instead of racing to 50 and then rolling a new toon in a rinse and repeat.

Yessirreeeeeeeeeeebob the streets sure are empty now.

In fairness, this was handled very poorly from an EU customer perspective. Sure, we got what we'd asked for after a couple of years of asking but it did cause a great deal of upset. Names are important and people set store by them... and suddenly a whole tranche of paying customers who have invested hundreds of hours and hard earned ££££ (or Euros) were sent a very clear message - yet again - that really they ain't that important.

The end result is that although we did finally get a unified community, for many it left a very bad taste in the mouth - because it was so poorly managed by the powers that be.

  20. In all seriousness come take a look. I never in my wildest dreams imagined I'd emigrate to the Black Country but actually it's got a lot going for it and in good commuting distance to Brum and around it. The people are great for the most part and the beer is reasonable and then there's Edgbaston!

The only thing I would say is avoid the Hagley Road... in rushour it's one of Europe's most congested highways and when it's not congested the toms are out in force, just waiting to give you a round of applause.

Brum itself is fab and has a vibe all its own and well worth checking out.
  21. If there was a problem with the business it seems highly unlikely the powers that be at NCSoft would have invested so much in unifying the transatlantic communities.

Rather they would have done something like migrate EU accounts to NA servers and reduce their hardware costs by closing the five EU servers down.

They didn't do that. They invested quite heavily and made it happen. That tells me all I need to know about the health of the game.
