  1. I am... to say the least, unimpressed.... I've been looking through your gallery thinking, "Hey I've seen this stuff before..."

    And lo and behold:

Please stick to creating original artwork. Thanks.
  2. Style isn't something that you learn. It's something that's developed over time after learning the basics. Worry first about form and function, style will come on its own.
  3. No prob WP! I'm pulling the teenie tiny monster out. He needs a better foe to fight.
  4. I promise you Rowr, there will be at least ONE Tigra sketch from me
  5. You guys are AWESOME! Thank you so much I'm going to physically print out this sheet, pull out the old comics from my parents place and go to town! As soon as I'm allowed to show cards I totally will.
  6. Hey guys! Well I got my 200 blanks for Marvel Masterpieces 2008 and I wanted suggestions! The ones given for Lord of the Rings were fantastic and I'm really excited to put lots of fan favorites in but I also want to make sure I get cards in there of characters that people really want to see, but may not have been drawn that often.

For suggestions, no smoking allowed (No wolvie with stogie action D: Sad Goat!), no depictions of zombies, and risque is alright as long as it's not over the top

    Thanks guys!

    can't...stop...staring

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ugh, that one's awful. The whole "cartoon as sexy" thing is a bit silly, but why draw someone like they have breast implants? Do you guys actually think those are attractive in any format?

[/ QUOTE ]YES...................and CANT stop staring.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They're attractive to guys because that's what they've been raised with through TV, magazines, mooovies. Most male comic artists don't know how to draw real breasts because all their reference is of fake boobies. In my life drawing class, even the male animators and illustrators had a stylized "let's make this real breast look like a blown up one" syndrome. It goes along with the whole drawing a sausage/banana in a girl's panties thing too I think, as well represented by the linked image as well.

    Go figure.
  9. Holy cow Doug... absolutely gorgeous I love your attention to detail.
  10. I typically go with the movement of the piece first. So I may draw a few very light strokes to show how I want the entire body angled and the arms/legs.

I look for two things: Shape and Silhouette

If both read well, I go on. The other thing to remember is that doing several sketches of the same pose will only make the end result stronger.

Another method of figuring out the pose is try and put yourself in that pose. You could even sit in a chair and feel if you want the arms up in a pose, then put your arms up. I find the connection between feeling what's tense and what feels loose helps a lot.

    Also. Reference. Reference. Reference.

Great artists don't just think of poses in their heads, though they CAN, having reference makes the job a whole lot easier when you can look at several photos and go "OH! That's how it is..."

It's really a combination of techniques and what works best for the individual. When it comes to construction though I highly recommend Glen Vilppu.

    Good luck!

    Sexiest CoX Art?

Clearly I must learn to draw sexier... *takes notes*
  12. Whew. Okay so Mid-December I graduated with my bachelors and lost my internet connection. YAY! Then I had no place to live! YAYAYAY!

So finally after christmas, my beau and I finally settled into our new place...with sporadic internet due to a very fuzzy router.

It's still very fuzzy, so I apologize for not being around.

First off, I finished up all my cards for Lord of the Rings, and will be showing them off, but until they're ready to be shown (cropped and whatnot)... here are a few Indy cards to fill in the weeks of missing all you folks.

    AND...

I am onboard with Upper Deck to produce 210 cards for the Marvel Masterpieces 2008 series! WOO!

If you have a sketch commission or a regular one, I will be in touch shortly.

  13. Aww thanks Morgenstern! I'm having fun with your piece and I again apologize for the delays. I have good news as to why for once.

I graduated yesterday with my bachelor's in animation So this week's finals were a bit of a whirlwind! I didn't expect to be so exhausted or I would have posted more earlier.
  14. Sale will tentatively run til December 31st... but we'll see
  15. Hey guys, I wanted to thank you all for your commissions. They've all been a lot of fun to work on. I also want to apologize for the slowdown. I've had some family matters come up and had to rush to my parent's place for awhile. I was able to work on some sketches there, but it was pretty hard given the situation.

So thanks for patience, sketching continues today with more uploads to come.
  16. Honestly, it just goes to show you what a good community we have TA. So thanks everyone.
  17. I like the comic, but the voice acting is eh... There's a bit of feedback that makes it kinda harsh, least on my end.

So chop chop, where's the next one? >;3
  18. Velocity and her tools... This begs me to do a pinup of her. DAMN YOU LEC!
  19. Welp, first on the chopping block was NPG... This is a color type sketch commission... Trying to keep them rough but still worked out. They're turning out to be a lot of fun!

Two new spots have opened! The sketch sale will continue through December!

  20. If you can afford $25, I'm also doing a sketch sale http://grumpygoat.deviantart.com

There are also freebie threads if you look around some.

    GH Sketches

    Hey GH,

I think bust up shots would be a fantastic idea...
  22. It's really up to you but as a general rule of thumb, posting in color only makes you look immature... All those people that color their text and then add sparklies and animation... Nnngh.
  23. Blah, I really wished I got time to work on this earlier, but I had to get my friend's film done for school and my portfolio pieces and...yeah, last semester before graduating is stressful

So I bring you the more finalized pencils for the second White Peregrine piece
