  2. Sorry guys! I've been EXCEEDINGLY busy with my short film and the holidays. In fact, I've only seen the inside of my room a whole three times in the last two weeks. Yay.

So tomorrow I'm back in my studio again, and will be working my butt off to finish these next three...

This week: Thor, White Peregrine, and Bayani.
  3. Hey! Hurry it up already Lookin nice Alex!
  4. Um... is that...Say in there or am I just dreamin?
  5. Well with something delicate like ink wash, I woudln't really go with colored pencil or colored ink... Perhaps do a high rez scan and digital color it so you don't lose anything from the artwork.
  6. Ok, and now for an update for TA... 90% inked... and actually 20% colored but I'll wait til later to update with colors here

    I wasn't staring, I just happened to notice. :\

Surprisingly, I thought it might have something to do with the costume, but the other one looked a little rounder; with the different perspective I couldn't decide, so I figured I'd point it out.

I honestly wasn't trying to be perverted.

Hee hee you silly thing, its ok to stare. I'm just teasin all of ya.

Starchasm: That's because you probably have good corsets Bad boning is the destruction of boobs everywhere *sage nod*
  8. Well, I could put up the argument that "Dear god what are you people doing staring at her breasts critically like that... you buncha pervs!"

The shading is based off some neat stuff I saw going on with a few artists I like, so I was testing it out... and the flat boob thing, well boobs do have weight. They don't have their own gravity shields keeping them up, and boning in corsets will flatten bottoms out like that...

I'll also mention the piece is far from done, and is in question as to whether or not I'll ever finish it because I didn't like a good chunk of the actual piece, however, it was something useful for testing the whole shading foo out on.
  9. Ghost Widow is showing Spade her E-Wang, which she just used on Wretch, thus he's passed out from exertion.

((I love Ghost Widow in this Alex...nice job))
  10. Another update on a piece I'm doing test colors on...its ZOMG ANIME Ravendown... in preparation for i8 NOW WITH WING..AGE...wingage? Win...gage? I know. Sleep.

    Commission WIP

I... I'm confused, is it a guy or a girl on the right? Don't kill me Alex >_<

    And yes, I'm honestly confused. ;_;
  12. If all of the commissioned artists in this forum wanted to get around the whole legal fiasco, there's a very simple legal way around it.

All art is done for free, because if its not done for profit, they technically can't legally go after you, and then if a person 'enjoyed' the artwork, and made a donation towards the artist and NOT to the piece, its not associated with the art, but the artist themselves, and therefore shouldn't fall under 'commissioned art'.

So if we as artists simply put up a sign that said "tip" jar, for donations, then I think it could bi-pass a lot of this stuff.

    That's me being sneaky.

The thing is, DC...Marvel...they don't tend to go after artists that do commissioned pieces. Unless that person is making millions off of it, or its defaming their characters, usually the large companies leave those artists alone.

    Why?

Advertising! They're getting FREE advertising through other artists. And what creator doesn't want to see another person's take on their characters? It's the legal departments that don't want to see it.

The most classic case was a watercolor artist who did large paintings of Batman and Robin in deviant situations. They were shown in a large public gallery, where the artist sold several for many thousands of dollars. Because the characters were shown in a setting not true to who they were, DC went bonkers.

Now... Bruce Timm does a sexy piece of Harley and Ivy together. Does he get sued? No. Why? Well in part, because he worked there, and in part because the sale of that one piece of artwork isn't hurting DC, its bringing more people into their comics. So its a win win situation for both parties.

I really do think that NC's policy on fanart is a bit overboard. If they were sued by Marvel for having the components to make Marvel's characters, they can't claim trademark on pointy belts or mystic symbols. I can understand that the designs, IN GAME, are their property, but c'mon...

I've had many folks look at commissions I've done, and my response is: "Its inspired by a really cool game I play with one of the most awesome character generator systems ever.. and... " I ramble on about CoX. Why? Cuz I like the game.

I like this game. I think the legal issues of fanart are excessive though. And they're starting to make a bad name for themselves in the comic and art communites for trying to go after artists who also love the game.
  13. Heya folks. Back from the dead... had some personal things to take care of that I would rather not go into publically, though my commissioners are free to ask...

Peeeregrine... here's teh rough rough sketch... I'm cleaning it up as we speak.

After months of painstaking labor and work, I drew this high quality piece of art just for you as part of the art trade that we agreed to and that I didn't totally just make up right this moment and expect you to fulfill without actually asking.

Now get to work drawing me some art, woman!
