It's not the xp; it's the INFLUENCE.
-
Well that sucks. Keep trying!
Having second thoughts on doing task forces on my Iso. Generally, I'll run all the hero TF's as I level for no xp and to encourage people catch up. But then I started to think; if I'm doing these for no xp, may as well wait till I get closer to 50 for increased inf generation. -
Worst bug fix, ever.

Well, we had ten people on at eight. And up to 18 on during the evening.
/em shakes a clenched paw
Team Hamster ran through the Protein arc; don't see what the masterminds were crying about. We had more problems keeping the dominators out of melee then we did pets.
Then ran random sky raiders missions. Was thinking of popping into Striga post-25 to unlock Hess TF.
Having second thoughts on my task force strategy on this character. Since I'm generally exemping for no xp to do TF's, thinking of waiting till I'm 50 or closer to 50 to do that then.
Oh, and LORD am I checking on the prices of low level devastation chance to holds. Would make jolting chain awesome. -
iirc:
Blasters get the mastermind.
Defenders get the corruptor.
Controllers get the dominator.
Everyone else gets the brute.
Or does scrapper get stalker? -
Or blaster for the temp power.

Talk about getting into the sg now that we're out of the cesspool of GR, where we were sgless, like animals!
Talk about the fun times we had the night before after Wednesday. Mmmmm, good times. -
Meeting: Run number nine, phase four
Date: 09.08.10
Target Level: 22ish
Still getting sg invites sorted out. Note sure about showing up, going to be in a hotel Wednesday night.

For those unfamiliar with the group, Isolators was started shortly after badges were introduced to the game. This was in the dark, dreary times before global chat, global tells, or even coalition chat. Back then, the only way to find a person from the forums was by chance or pre-arranged meeting.
The Isolators project was started so the people who post here in Victory could actually meet and play together, so that you could have some fun with the people you chat with online. Everyone made a new character for this new group. This is an once a week supergroup that plays every 8 pm Wednesdays.
When the vast majority of the group hits 50, we start a new run of the group, switching between CoH and CoV between runs.
You don't have to be an active forum poster to join, through it's encouraged. At the very least, be a member of the community; run missions, join in advertised task forces, etc.
If you're interested in joining up this run, please feel free to post interest here. Everyone is welcome.
A few notes:
Everyone is welcome.
Not everyone is welcome.
This is an once a week sg. If the group ends up at level 20 at the end of the night, please don't show up next week at level 25.
If you're a few levels behind due to playing less, don't sweat it, but try to catch up on your own or with a task force if you can.
We play 8 pm eastern on Wednesdays. -
Quote:As I said, I picture a lot of powers being taken that are utility only / no slots to be added. Leadership pool just for veng/tactics, tp friend/foe, etc. Every character taking stealth at 49.I think the slot management will be difficult. But I predict a lot of people may select stealth, invis, and grant invis and just slot lotgs +rech in them. That wouldn't take any slots and would give a nice bonus! (for chars that don't already have a lot of defense powers I mean)
-
Quote:You know, kinda disagree. When it comes down to it, this won't change any of my builds in the long run / at level 50. This just makes them much more enjoyable to play in the sub level 30 range. All the the powers I take will have no slots and, in some cases, won't even be added to my power trays. Most of them will be taken in the 40's most likely, depending on the characters use of power pools.I am mixed on this. I already find this game easy enough. This just makes things like END management and deciding on builds (to fit in those powers or not or when to take them and slot them) out of the game.
A few other thoughts for me at least in that I can hold off on the bunch of respecs I was about to do for villain APPs and blue toons getting PPPs. But now it will suck if I want to respec toons and have to decide on what powers to add in. I really like the fact that I can take things like sprint and not worry about adding slots. I am not sure I want all my primaries/secondaries for each of my toons.
In a way, that's a complaint about this change from me. We already have so many powers and now three more, generally useless ones at that? Need more passives... Maybe add a passive to every power pool. Move sprint from inherent to speed and hurdle to leaping. Add "random" passives to all the other pools. -
Quote:On one paw, this is a change people have been wishing for since issue.... Zero. Here's the only catch:
You'll have to respec to take advantage of it on existing characters.
Characters as they exist now, will only get the Inherent Fitness powers if they do not have any of them in their build. Conversely, if you don't you get them as Inherents and never get the option to select them as pool powers.
On the other paw, we have the most horrifying prospect. Thirty ******* respecs to do. And not only that, respecs that can NOT be done with existing freespecs and free time BEFORE the issue drops.
On that issue, hopefully the devs could be convinced to implement peoples second longest standing request/demand besides this change; some sort of "fast spec / autospec" feature. Specifically, autoslotting of enhancements and keeping power trays the same.
If I respec only to, say, pick three new powers due to this change, or switch slots out from one power to the next, or strip off a set of IO's, it's ridiculous that we have to spend five minutes dragging every damn IO back and then redoing the power tray. The game should have a quick logic check; "Ok, character at start of respec has propel six slotted with Devastation. After respec, character still have propel with six slots, so I the Game will automagically put Devastation back on propel to help out the Player." -
Quote:This is at the same time awesome, long over due, pointless, and horrifying. It's nice if the powers will still take slots. Otherwise, it's a massive nerf.
Also, as Hamster pointed out, wtf am I going to do with 3 extra power selections that I most likely will be unable to do anything with slotting-wise.
Under those conditions I can see leadership becoming a very common pool for squishies. Mmmh, +perception and +tohit on my blasters w/o having to make the pri/sec power sacrifices on pve builds.
On one paw, this will GREATLY improve the suck of the pre-level 32. Not just for the pre-20 no endurance suckfest; this is also going to improve the pre-32 time when most characters have the same, different, problem; too many awesome powers and too few choices. Freeing up three choices in this range will be a huge benefit. And LORD are melee characters going to like being able to use their toggles pre-level 20.
But now we have three (and in maybe one of ten cases, four) new powers to choose in our characters life. And due to the fact that no one generally puts more then 3-4 extra slots on health/stamina (and those people will continue to do so), you have three more powres and NO slots to put on them. Between primary set, secondary set, inherent powers, power pools, temp powers (and lord, mastermind pet commands), most of my characters have four nearly full power trays. Now I get three more powers to take to clutter them.
On this issue, I've long wished they would add more passive powers to seach of the power pools. I imagine people are going to be taking a lot of new power pools just for the tier 4 power and not even slotting or putting the others in their trays. Expect to see a lot of tanks with vengeance or the med pool rez. Plus more characters grabbing additional travel powers, hasten, hover, tp friend/foe....
And on the other paw, we have the most horrifying prospect.

Going to see how they do it. Will you be able to still slot these like brawl/spring/rest? ANd if that's the case, what the hell are we going to do with 3 extra powers and no extra slots to use with them?
Hmmm.
And, of course, a huge horror:
30 respecs to do. -
Quote:Hopefully we'll have a lot of dark, traps, and ff.Actually I was waiting to see if we have enough debuffers. I was going to suggest ignoring LR. This is how we did the Darkstorm STF. We just debuffed him and proceeded to take the towers down. I know def debuffs and MM debuffs are not the same. Alternatively, just have someone pull LR in BG mode and fly/hover over him since he only have 1 ranged attack, keeping pets from attacking.
-
In theory, this should be similar to an all controller run. The only real problem is going to be Recluse. Really suggest participants grab helpful temp powers; chem+bio nukes, shivans, etc.
-
Actually, I'm looking like I'm going to be in Virginia without a internet connection worth a damn Friday.
-
There's been a fair number of all defender/controller/rad/storm/dark STF's done.

GP, suggest checking out steam releases for older games. A lot of them have been put out the last year or two. You can get the entire X-Com pack for 15 bucks currently, KOTOR for 10.
