I logged on to Test yesterday for the anniversary event and it was amazing. Pocket D was full of AVs, many of which I've never seen in game. It was so much fun, even when a particularly powerful bunch of them would mass-kill a bunch of players.
I'd love for that to become a rare event (perhaps an anniversary-only event that lasts 2 days), where DJ Zero puts the call out for help because there's a dimensional rift and super-powered entities are pouring into Pocket D. As with many events, there should be badges associated, maybe for participating in 1, 5, and 10 kills. -
I'm not sure if he was 100% serious but in an interview with Posi posted on the European forums, he hinted that Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols were on their way (but almost certainly for i16, not i15).

wow. how many times do we who have been around for a bit need to keep saying, THIS IS THE FOTM IT WILL DIE DOWN SOON. the MA is the new shinney. and if you guys can't get your sg mates or global friends to join you, then i think there is a problem with the people in said places and you should think about getting an new sg or new global friends.
[/ QUOTE ]
As long as there are gigantic imbalances in risk/reward in MA farms, it won't die down. Getting to 50 in under 10 hours is just too tempting to a lot of players. The devs are addressing some of the more obvious problems (comm officers, lack of ranged attacks) in the upcoming build. They'll keep playing whack-a-mole like this for a while, I'm sure. Don't be surprised to see the level-locked EBs that spawn at only 52 and 54 to be changed to go down to 50, and don't be shocked if they end up forcing any custom group to include minions, LTs, and bosses to prevent all-boss maps. I also wouldn't be surprised to see the end of auto-SKing, which allows one farmer to PL 7 characters at once, no bridges needed.
It's true they can't make the MA totally balanced. For example, they really can't prevent a fire shield scrapper from creating a map full of fire-wielding foes. But they don't have to prevent all "easy mode" missions, they just have to eliminate the biggest exploits and the level of farming will die down quite a bit. -

This is exactly how I feel on this subject. You don't need more space for arcs. You need originality and some writing chops.
[/ QUOTE ]
Writing is only part of the size equation. The other part is custom critters. With the current MA tools, attempting to create a group that has more than one look for each rank foe chews up a ton of space. Hopefully at some point they'll introduce the concept of variant costumes so that we can have multiple looks for custom critters. -

Actually, I think it'd be cute to have an AE building on its own floating rock outside the D. Plus, the D is easier to get to, and you can go cruising right away once you're done farming.
The AE building in the RWZ does seem silly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed on both counts. Makes sense for the AE to be hosted in Pocket D. Makes absolutely no sense in the RWZ. It makes a mockery over the theme of the zone, that it is a pitched fight between humanity and invading aliens.
Vanguard hero: "Are you here to help humanity fight against the existential threat of the Rikti?"
Construction guy: "Huh? No, I'm here to install the carpeting in the big new Dave and Busters." -

As Catwhoorg noted, the earning power of a lvl 50 character is much greater than a lowbie. So an effect that may be happening is that with the addition of IO sets, purples, and now MA content, people have more reasons to keep playing their 50s.
I know that I used to hit 50 with a character then immediately roll an alt. I just didn't play my 50s, since I didn't see any point to it. I'd done the content and there was no way to progress my character any further. But now I regularly play level 50 characters because there's a ton of new content and there are always shiny new IO sets to strive for.
So if more level 50s are being played, this would contribute to more inf being generated per hour played compared to the old norms of a few issues back, and would thus contribute to price inflation. -

Even before MA, quite frankly most of the redside prices were out-of-hand.
Granted, the market is player-driven with supply and demand, but I would like to see the devs flood the market for a while to help stabilze prices.
[/ QUOTE ]
The OP's suggestion is a weird hybrid of store and market that doesn't make sense. As far as redside prices, I think it just makes more sense to merge the markets. That'd normalize prices. -
I certainly can appreciate your desire to get constructive feedback. But the fact is that if a person isn't leaving that feedback today, they won't leave it if the system forces them to put something in that field.
The second reason this should be disallowed is that I've seen reports on the forums of mini flame wars. Example: someone rates an arc low with the comment "The minions are overpowered--they're mez-proof." The reply comes "Controllers and doms that try to solo missions with custom minions are just asking for trouble." Then you're off to the races with increasingly nasty tells. Then comes the retribution of 0-starring the arcs of the person sending the critique.
So I disagree with your suggestion on the grounds that it won't accomplish what you want it to accomplish. There won't be an increase in constructive criticism, and you'll get people who avoid conflict who will skip rating arcs at all. -

I say the best way to keep spam out is to use what was earlier said. Give us the choice as far as who we receive email from. That way no stranger could email us. Besides why would a stranger need to email us anyway. Why couldn't they just talk to us when we are in the game with tells if they can send tells.
[/ QUOTE ]
I haven't read the whole thread but yes, this is a common suggestion. Just make it so that by default you can only receive email from friends, global friends, and SG/coalition members.
The problem is this: the spammers will just switch to sending /tells, because they can be sent to someone who is offline. And since almost all of us want to be able to receive tells for team invites, I don't see an easy solution to that problem.

Really a standout arc. Fun, funny, and well-balanced. Well done, 5 stars from me. Could safely tone down the number of allies in the last mission, I think.

[ QUOTE ]
keep in mind there are 20,000 arcs published. If each is 100k, that is 2,000,000k of mission arcs published. That's after a few weeks.

Per Hero 1 in the Massively interview: "Storage size is not an issue -- they're small little text files. We did the math: if everyone in the in the game made three mission arcs and maxed out their file size for stuff we would store 9GB on the server. In the day and age where a terabyte is a hundred bucks, 9GB is not that big of a deal. That's not really the issue. If anything it's more of an issue the amount of content that starts to go back and forth through the network." -
Some of these might be Dev's Choice, I just don't recall:
The Legacy of Joe, the Longbow Eagle.
The Footsteps Initiative by Muu
Saul Rubenstiens Discount Task Force by Ascendent
Adventure of the Ghost Generator (3054)
Check... and Mate by @ARH -
Please make sure to /bug the ticket issue, and/or PM Synapse. He seems to be the rewards guru. He's also usually extremely quick to answer PMs. Just make sure to share (with his permission of course) what he says so he doesn't get inundated with PMs asking the same stuff.

You know, I really loved the Cyborg Pack. Used bits of the costume pieces on many characters. But this pack is even better. The costume bits are wonderful, the costume change emotes are AWESOME and the Tarot reading power is pretty amazing.
If the future Super Booster packs continue on this trend line, I'm pretty sure my head will explode at some point. -

mmm my code was applied 2 hours ago, still yet to see anything in game

Were you logged in when you did the purchase? I think you have to log out then log back in again to have the options activate. -

So, not only fixes, but 'sploit patches. Nicely done.

What was the exploit? I assume since it's fixed now it's OK to discuss? -
Store server.............
so.............
slowwwwww............ -
I'm not at my game PC so I can't check this, but this would be a good reason to have a telephone booth be available as a contact. So you can receive calls first from one contact, then later from another.
Hopefully they'll make this unnecessary at some point by enabling more than one contact. -
It'd help if we could simply omit giving NPCs a secondary. For minions especially this would make it easier to come close to the type of minions you see in non-MA content.

I posted in that thread, but seeing as how many folks probably won't wade through it all, I'll cut to the chase. Synapse said:

This is a known bug and will be fixed in an upcoming build. The code that handles these rewards got goofed up and has now been pummeled into submission. I am looking forward to this fix myself, I've been enjoying doing a lot of grouping on MA missions.

So a fix is on the way. -

<narc>Brian, I like this thread but gotta point out that you've bumped it twice and bumping is against forum rules.</narc> -

So far, when I just want to solo an arc to see what the creator has made, my go to character is a Dark Melee / Willpower brute. Gets to see everything close and can live through a great deal.
My main concern now is to immunize my mobs from holds / immobilizes and harden them enough that the minions will survive a blaster nuke.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just make sure to let the player know in the arc introduction that you're creating missions that are meant to have a tanker on the team. I have no problem in general with people creating hard missions, or missions aimed at a particular type of team. What I don't like is finding this out by accident. I have mostly been soloing MA arcs with my controller and mez resistant minions make most missions overly difficult compared to what I've come to expect. If you disclose, then I can either avoid your arc or play it if I'm feeling particularly masochistic. -
I like this idea a lot. It'd also allow us to have boss ambushes where it's just the boss with no friends along for the ride.
-
Please have Dr. Aeon work out a deal with DJ Zero to get an outpost in Pocket D.
Add "Looking for AE missions" to the list of Looking for Group statuses.
Some of us like to solo at the highest difficulty, but that presents problems with AVs. Add advanced search options to allow filtering on NPCs set to Extreme and presence of AVs.
Let me attach private notes to arcs (like player ratings), and then let me filter on arcs that I've attached notes to.
When we create arcs, let us explicitly select a level range so that we don't have to resort to tricks to get maps to spawn at lower levels when they're meant for lower levels. -

I mean, honestly? Where has the modeling guy's time gone? And not just Jay. I see needing a 2d artist to make up the UI. And an environment artist to do the building. AND effects/animation artists to do the effects.
But that ONE building couldn't have seriously drained all the art talent they had. Right? It was just one building. Copy/pasted around. It's a more than little suspicious.
[/ QUOTE ]
IIRC, I believe Jay once commented that most of his time went into NPC costumes for new enemies. In the interview that Hero 1 did about i14, he commented that they did it in 8 months and that pace was "amazing". So even though we haven't gotten new enemy groups for a couple of issues, the graphics guys could be working their butts off for new groups that will show up in i15 or i16.
