I know you can't say, Leandro, but I sure hope you've been invited to a subsequent round of closed beta for i16. The idea of not including you is just dumb. I don't care what their selection criteria are, they should have a way fo flagging some players as "always invite."
  3. I have longed for this feature many times. After all, unless you're looking for salvage to flip or you're planning ahead and stockpiling salvage for recipes you don't own yet, you're typically only looking for salvage needed for recipes in your inventory. I'd settle for a checkbox filter "only show salvage used by my recipes." As noted in the first reply, this can be done mostly by the client, so I don't think it'd be a crushing load on the market server. And it'd be a tremendous QoL improvement.

As long as we're talking about the market interface, I'd also like to see an option for an improved history view. In addition to last 5 trades, I'd like to be able to see things like "weighted daily average, weighted average of last 7 days, weighted average of last 30 days".

I'd also like to be able to specify a level range for bids. If I'm bidding on an expensive recipe I'm quite often willing to settle for a range of levels but to cover that range with bids now requires bidding multiple times. Like if I want a Celerity +Stealth, I'd really like to be able to set my bid and then specify that anything from 1 to 50 is acceptable.

    End of threadjack.

Those (and more) are the reasons that vehicles would be complicated to implement. Hey, I'd love to be able to hop on a motorcycle and roar away. But I just don't think it's going to happen. Way too much work.

I'd settle for more rocket packs and non-flapping tech wings that have jet engines, though.

This is actually what I came to this thread to complain about. In long threads it's quite possible that you want to quote someone who is in turn quoting another post that is pages back from the end of the thread. It's impractical to have to manually multiquote.

Please just change the behavior of the quote mechanism so that it quotes the ENTIRE post being replied to, including any nested quotes. As it stands now, it can be difficult to follow a debate because key context is often missing.
  9. There's an interesting attitude I see in some of the badgers. It reminds me of a discussion I had years ago with my brother, a medical doctor. He told me about the insanely long hours interns at his hospital had to pull. A shift of 30-40 hours straight was common. But what multiple studies had shown that being intensely sleep deprived has the same effect on your decision-making as being drunk, i.e. it's really bad news. So the logical conclusion would be to put interns on more normal shifts, right? These guys are quite literally making life and death decisions, after all (and screwing them up, costing lives). Nope! The attitude among the senior staff was "Hey, I had to go through that hell and there's no way these wimp young wanna-be's are gonna skip out on it."

This is a game we're talking about. It's supposed to be fun. Sure, it should have challenges, even some extremely difficult ones. But the challenges should be intentional and they should be part of a thoughtfully designed framework. Accolade requirements like having to get 10 million points of damage or defeat 500 summoned illusionists were designed without an understanding of what was reasonable in regular gameplay. It's the right decision to tone them down. I don't want to see them trivialized, but I'm confident Synapse won't do that. I think there's a happy medium that's possible between stupidly difficult and stupidly trivial.

Nope. Per a PM from Synapse, he explicitly said he's not going to change them to "defeat 1 of these".

They don't make announcements only for the gratification of current customers. An important goal is to get on the front page of MMO websites to generate PR for the game and that's harder to do when there's so much competing news from WOW, PAX, etc. Better for them to wait a day or two when there's not so much competing hot news, then make the big reveal.
  12. The new Super SK system and the new difficulty slider in i16 will bring a lot of people out of AE and make PuGs not only more popular but WAY easier to put together since you won't have to worry about careful level matching any more. Help is on the way!

I expect this is so ingrained that even Going Rogue will not change that. *If I turn out to be wrong I will happily eat crow though I hope someone will provide fries and ketchup to go with it.
As you say, it's guesswork right now because Posi hasn't said anything one way or the other. But I stick with my "they're not opposed to it, they just haven't gotten around to it" theory. Actually I should expand on that: I think at one time Jack Emmert was probably firmly opposed to it. But he also opposed things like powerset proliferation. Once Posi took the reigns the official position changed. Similarly I think the dev view on twinking was once firmly anti, but once they relented and made it so you can bestow hundreds of millions of inf on a lowbie, I take that to mean that they rethought it.

As has been mentioned countless times, this isn't a groundbreaking feature. Even NCSoft's new flagship MMO Aion has email xfer of goods and global account storage, so it's not like you can point to a corporate position that's against it either.

Of course that assumes the devs don't have any changes in plan for the economy.
I think GR will require changes. We know that it'll introduce a bunch of new zones that are neither red nor blue. They could decide to stick with the existing currencies but you'll need a way to access auction houses in Praetoria, and that would be awkward unless they merge the markets.

I think the best option would be to just merge all influence and infamy into a single currency. This would also allow not only a market merger but mixed teams of heroes and villains could finally trade items. I can't stand that I can't give inspirations to teammates of the opposing faction.

I have 3 accounts; the two extras are so that my kids can team with me, but I've made alts on their accounts before. I'm pretty sure any power that targets enemies will result in the proc giving End to the enemy. The only powers it makes sense to slot the proc in are pure self-buff powers like Stamina and Quick Recovery.

EDIT: actually it's not any power that "targets enemies", it's any power that has a target period. Like if you put the proc in Speed Boost it'd still only give End to your teammates, never yourself.

That was really my point. You can come to all sorts of completely invalid conclusions if you start using RP to justify them. You can already trade inf, send global tells, buy items at the auction house that are for sale in another universe (server), and trade inspirations: none of which should be possible from an RP perspective. Thus it makes no sense to argue against being able to email inf due to RP objections. Even the separation of markets isn't done for RP reasons. Posi cited infamy/influence disparity as his reason for not merging markets, not RP.

Congratulations on your mind-reading ability. Must come in handy. More seriously, I believe at one time the devs were really against inf xfers, as could be seen from the extremely low cap. But raising the trade cap to its current value could be interpreted as a change of heart. That was a quick fix. Adding the ability to send items via email isn't.

    Quote:
    • Your alts don't even know each other! They have never met. None of them have even been on at the same moment. Why would they send strangers money?
I hate RP-style justifications for this stuff. If you want to get all RP about it, then explain how influence or infamy can be traded at all. It's NOT money, it's in-game reputation. Or explain how you can buy something at the auction house that's for sale in another friggin' universe (i.e. a different server). Let's please leave off this line of "reasoning" okay?

    Quote:
    • Get a 2nd account, and activate it every few months when you build up a need to move the money around.
    • [other equally pointless suggestions omitted]
In P_P's initial post she mentioned that she does in fact have multiple accounts, but using them for inf xfers is a pain.

To get back to her original suggestion: my own guess is that the devs probably aren't vehemently against being able to email inf. But it's just not a priority. Just like they're not against the ability to invite or promote someone to an SG who is offline, or a thousand other reasonable suggestions that have been made. Even with the new larger staff they have only so many hours in a day, and have to devote them mostly to big features that will help them stay profitable.

One tiny example: a while back I got annoyed at having to constantly type /loc to find out where I was so I could hunt for exploration badges. I suggested to Pohsyb that it'd be great if we could toggle on a constantly-updated location display on the map via a slash command. He replied that he saw how that could be useful but that idea would be verrrrry far down the to-do list. He didn't say "cold day in hell" but that was my take.

Many other MMOs have the ability to email items, so it's not like this is some wild new concept that might dooooom the game. I hope it's added some day and I strongly second P_P's suggestion. (Good Lord, I've been agreeing and defending P_P in several threads lately. ) Although my own personal pet peeve item I want to see revamped is the lame, frustrating, archaic teammate search window. Grrrr.
  20. Haven't read the whole thread but my guess is they didn't level ultra-fast. They probably had switched to a second build and hadn't trained up yet. That build would show up as level 1 to other players, wouldn't it?

Right, just buy a second account at the store. You don't have to install the software again. You just run the software you have more than once.

I don't really see how the two are linked. The vast majority of MA speed-leveling comes from teams that are all auto-SK'd to 50. They level just as fast or faster than the traditional solo Fire/Kin using a bridge because they're fighting all level 52-54 bosses. Saying that the new SSK system is a fix for the AE situation makes no sense to me. Losing the ability to bridge won't change the fact that you can ding 50 after a couple of days in the AE. Where's the "fix"? I'm not seeing it.

If you find that despite repeated posts other people constantly don't understand the point you're trying to make, then I'd say the problem is probably your writing style more than anything else. EDIT: to be clear I'm not dissing you. Just saying that when I find myself repeatedly not understood, the problem is usually that I'm not making my point clearly enough. Of course on these forums some people just have an axe to grind and they'll never admit you're making a valid point!

And because this is a massive thread and folks will read this message without necessarily seeing my previous posts, let me reiterate that I'm super happy over the coming SSK system and good riddance to bridging.

You can indeed run multiple sessions in separate windows. The most important command I've found to make this easier is /maxinactivefps. I set it to a very low number, like 2 or 3. That means that the window in the foreground runs at full speed but any background windows are hardly updated at all; that dramatically reduces the load on your CPU and graphics card. Don't set the inactive frame rate to 0 if you plan on having a second character following the first, because 0 freezes the character in place.
  24. I can confirm this via prior PMs with Synapse. I was complaining to him specifically about some of the insane requirements for accolades (I cited 500 Illusionists, Marcone Capos, 200 Cold Demons, and 10 mil damage badges). I won't quote my long diatribe, but here is part of Synapse's response:
    Quote:
One of my goals for the GR expansion is going to be to dial down the cuh-razy badges. Especially if they're requirements for Accolades. Some of these badges were designed without a whole lot of data, just a lot of speculation on data we did have.
Since Posi's tweet made it public knowledge, I figure it's okay now.

I just want to add that in addition to being overjoyed at the fact that they're going to be adjusting some of the sadistic accolade requirements, I'm again grateful that we have a dev team that communicates directly with their player base. I've never used any other software product, game or not, that had a dev team that was so accessible.

EDIT: before anyone asks, no Synapse did not share any specific changes with me, only that he intended to address the issue. Also note that in Synapse's initial PM he figured on getting them into Going Rogue, but Posi's tweet mentions them being in i16. Woot!

That's a valid point when you're focusing on the lowbie getting XP for doorsitting. I was thinking specifically of P_P; I was under the impression she was PLing her own alt so she's both doing the work and getting the benefit.

    Quote:
It took me about 3 years to finally hit 50 on something, and now I have 6 level 50s, and over exp weekends with AE I could easily hit 50 in a day or two if I wanted to. That seems like something for nothing to me.
Then complain to the devs about double XP weekends, the XP curve rebalance that accelerated leveling speed and the upcoming one that'll make it even faster, and the fact that the AE can be loaded up with all bosses. I've sent PMs on that very issue. In fact, I sent PMs urging them to eliminate the AE's auto-SK system--instead they're basically rolling out a similar system to all content.

    Quote:
The problem though is that there's no clear line between one person and the next. Why is farming and powerleveling okay as long as it's done outside of AE? Who makes up the rules on how fast it's okay to go? How much exp/hr is acceptable and how much isn't? Who steps in and says what the difference is between the people who "pay their $15 and want to powerlevel," and the unreasonable people using AE?
That's been a longstanding complaint and one that's unlikely to be cleared up any time soon. Here's my own take on things:

    1. The devs don't like farming, they don't want to encourage farming, but they aren't going to go to draconian lengths to eliminate it either.
    2. They have zero tolerance for exploits. Thus stuff like Rikti Comm Officers and Hami Mitos get eliminated.
    3. They have an uneven track record when it comes to dealing with farming that reflects the fact that squelching farming just isn't a major goal:
      1. Dreck got a timer but Battle Maiden never did, even though it was blindingly obvious that it was the preferred farming map.
      2. Family XP got lowered because they were too easy compared to other mobs, but Maniac Slammer boss XP hasn't.
      3. AE missions can be reported for being farms, resulting in the slot being locked out. Yet no mechanism for reporting farmers has ever been put in game for non-AE farms. I believe this stems more from them wanting the AE mission list to be uncluttered by farm missions more than actually trying to stamp out farming.
      4. The devs apparently believe in fair rewards for level of risk undertaken. Thus if you can take on a map full of level 54 bosses, then you have earned the rewards. It's not an exploit even though resultant leveling speed can be far outside what was ever envisioned pre-AE.
Here's where I stand on the PL issue: good riddance to the level 46 bridge technique. I'm not shedding any tears that it's being eliminated. I think the new Super SK system is going to be awesome. It'll let me team with both of my kids any time I want to.

And if I want to PL my kids' characters or my own alt, I'll still be able to, only with the lowbies as my SKs instead of at -5 via a bridge. No big deal. This game is just getting better and better.
