I got a few great suggestions from the CoH LJ community, and here's what I've ended up with! WOO!

Click for larger.
I am trying to create a character based on Buccaneer Bruce to take over my Buccaneers villain group when Spirit is redeemed. I was excited when I saw the ninja robe because I thought (along with the sleeves) it would make a great Buccaneer costume. But now I'm starting to think that without an actual swashbuckler hat, I won't be able to pull it off.
I tried using the existing pirate hats, and they really don't convey the look I want. So I tried the wide brimmed hat that came with the magic pack, and the bandanna (which is what Spirit wears). What do you guys think? Does anyone have any suggestions? -
Quote:I can partially agree, I would like them to fix the bugs in the game. However, it's obviously an excellent business decision to fix bugs and release new content in tandem (disregarding the fact that new content creates new bugs). Why is it an excellent business decision? Because a lot of people will buy the booster packs. The company will therefore get more money, and be able to implement more stuff that people want. Remember, the Wedding Pack basically funded VEAT creation.I get that they apparently have resources to add new content that they want more money for when they apparently don't have resources to fix the bugs in a game I have already paid for. I want the game fixed before I give them more money.
Quote:Another less subtle one I used in another thread: If I approached the guy who checks my electric meter to insult him and say wasting time when he could be fixing my air conditioner, he'd probably call me an idiot.
Quote:Bug I found. Others may have mentioned it.
The Tai -> Tai Skin glove for females is using the male skin texture. As a result, there's a cutoff line where the normal arm ends and the new texture begins. It also looks overly hairy/veiny/muscular and doesn't look good. I bugged it in game. I encourage others to do the same, so we can get it fixed ASAP. I really wanna use that glove. -
For starters, I have been trying to get myself drunk for the past five hours. So anything I say is my fault, but I share responsibility with my roomies. Like for instance, I cannot stop hiccuping, a sure sign of indigestion. I need to drink more water.
I swear the only caffeine I've had this whole week was this morning, because I actually wanted to by hyper today. Now I cannot even hiccup straight and it has nothing to do with Red Bull. (And has everything to do with the vodka others have been feeding me.)
Quote:[*] Going to look at the deformation in the spine during some of the jump moves. Looks especially odd on some of the female models because of how the geometry is built/weighted[/LIST]
Quote:Very informative, and thank you, but I think what was being asked was the actual costume change emote title to use. I have tried using "ccninjaleap" and "ccninja_leap" in that equation with no luck. So please, does anyone know the actual title for the ninja leap and smoke bomb emotes? -

I do not understand the mids editor at all. Very cumbersome. Not complaining, but it's definitely not for the casual poker. >_>

... *suddenly realizes she can do a pretty good Swashbuckler costume with the ninja robe*
SQUEEEEE! Imma design the costume today. I'm still not going to roll the toon until GR.. but YAAY! Now I'll have someone who can take over the Buccaneers! (I hope I don't burn myself out on Dual Blades..) -
Quote:I agree 100%I think the power is just fine. It does what it appears to be made for. It's a free travel power. I've seen people complain about the end cost, or that it suppresses, or that it doesn't stack with SJ or SS. But if any of those were changed, it WOULD be too good.
What it is right now is an SS/SJ substitute that, because it's free, isn't as good as those things. It costs high end and isn't stackable because it's not a replacement for Sprint, but rather for SS/SJ. As it is, the power isn't as good as taking a real travel power, but it's better than not having one at all.
Considering anybody in the game can get a jetpack for free at level 5 and use that, having a free run/jump travel power seems perfectly fair and balanced. -
Quote:Yeah, you can see the ridiculous midsection when using the ... which emote is it? Sit? The one where your legs are bent but your feet and butt are on the floor, and your elbows are on your knees? Yeah, the torso looks.. painful and inhuman there too. Always has. I bump up the body slider on almost all of my toons and it doesn't help in that direction, unfortunately. The female jumping animations on Ninja Run need some work.
[...]
Neither one looks... pleasant :P
Quote:I see a nerf coming hard. I think they'll cut it's ability to stack with swift and sprint and hurdle, or something along those lines. Maybe I'm just overestimating the awesomeness of this power, and the fact that it stacks.
Quote:And I found a minor bug:- When switching builds and dragging Ninja Run and Walk powers to the tray, they won't work upon clicking them. I've dragged them to a floating tray and haven't tested dragging them to one of the 1-3 trays. Relogging fixes the problem though.
Wow, I never even thought of that. That's totally unfair! D: -
Quote:You are correct.I don't have it yet so I can't verify but someone already said that it does stack with sprint it just turns off other travel powers like CJ and SS.
Not sure about the name, but if you open the costume window and look through the list of emotes, just add CC to the beginning and that *should* be the name. [If Ninja Leap does not follow that pattern, I believe it would be the first time.] -
Someone verified (and I have also logged in and seen for myself) that Ninja Run, just like Super Jump, can be detoggled with Combat Jumping. So it does NOT function like Walk. YAY!
Quote:Can you clean up the account page at some point so it clearly states which ones we have bought? I know right now, but the more and more of these come out, the harder it is getting to remember.
Quote:I do believe they mentioned more packs for the origins after all five are done (Ie. things like Super Pack VI "Science II" as a possibility.)
I believe they mentioned the problem with sheaths on your back is the fact that weapons that you use are actually in your hand all the time, but invisible.
I hope they figure something out for that. Even if it is just plunking two copies of your weapon. One in your hand and one on your back. And depending on your 'weapon visible' bit, the one on the back appears or disappears.
Second: I don't even care if we have scabbards that never have sword hilts in them. Or always, even when swords are drawn. Even if it's a totally non-functional, static, unanimated costume piece, that would be awesome. (Scabbards and Quivers.. do you know how many of my toons are re-rolled D&D characters?)
Why, thank you! :] Though I know there are many people who have over 100 toons, and even some who have filled their accounts. (Also, many of my toons are L10 or less, lots of L1s.. someday they will gain their levels! xD) I am only forcing myself to wait to roll new toons for GR because I have so many toons right now, rolling more just means they get played even less :P -

Quote:I am sure all of that is working as intended. Because even with as nerfed as it is, we already have someone whining that people can now pay $10 to become overpowered. Imagine if it cost less, was usable in combat, and was slottable! The DOOOOOM would be unbearable! There are a few things I want to bring up about Ninja Run.
1) Detoggles my Combat Jumping.
This I can probably get over.
2) It suppresses in combat. =(
When fighting with this on, it is completely supressed and you don't get any benifit from it.
3) It is unenhanceable.
This is another point that I can probably get over. The devs wanted to give us a good power without the ability for it to become over powered.
4) It costs double the endurance of sprint.
This falls under the overpowered part of the power as the point above states. If it didn't cost any end, then it could definitely be called over powered.
5) Doesn't work in Granite :/
Not that big of a deal, just saw that some one asked about it and wanted to note that it doesn't. -
Quote:When the Cyborg booster came out, we did not yet know they were going to do origin based boosters. Then they did magic pack, and a redname said 'Hmm, cyborg, magic, maybe the other origins will be next?' - I'm paraphrasing, but the Devs absolutely consider CYBORG pack an origin-based pack. Ergo, the Ninja pack has a very high probability of being the Natural booster.Despite it being the perfect booster for Naturals; they didn't label it as such (like they've done with the other Super Boosters). So whether or not it actually is the Natural Super Booster remains to be seen (any Devs care to clarify)?
Edit: I also remember an interview with someone (Posi?) in which someone begged for animal heads and tails, and that redname said "Hmm, sounds like a mutant booster to me!" - Now, whether or not the mutant booster had already been started, or whether or not animal features will be in the mutant booster, I don't know. But a redname said it, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. -
Quote:Someone else already mentioned quivers, scabbards, etc. I'd also like to see more pirate (specifically swashbuckler), knight, D&D class-type stuff (ranger, thief, etc). I know we can already get close with what we have, but we also had a lot of ninja-y stuff already too. It's not like there's a shortage, we just want more. ;]But, I'm not sure what else could be added to a Natural booster. New guns? Cowboy clothing?
That is awesome. Thank goodness it doesn't work like walk. I am a happy camper, now. -
Not all Technology based characters are Cyborgs, but the Cyborg pack counted as the "Technology" pack. I *do* hope they come out with more natural based costume bits, but make no mistake this does count as the Natural booster pack.
-
I'm only worried because walk does not work that way. Walk detoggles everything, and then you have to physically turn walk off before you can start executing powers again. Granted, walk is an exception... so I'm hoping you're right!!
-
Quote:In my defense, no one had said it wasn't slottable when I asked if it was slottable.Nope. And you're not the only one who'd drop regular travel powers if this was better and/or slottable. I'm sure the devs are sensitive to the folks who complain about not wanting to feel forced into having to do microtransactions in order to have a strong character. Hence the high end cost, incompatibility with CJ, no Def bonus, and inability to slot.
Also, I understand their reasoning, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. ;]
I'm still advocating CJ being suppressed instead of tetoggled! Ohplease!? -
Quote:I see more stuff like this in the future, though. They have to make the Super Boosters worth $10 to more than just the collectors and costume addicts. Look at the Super Tailor introduced with the Science pack - that's *huge*! It's a real incentive to spend that $10. I think they're going to keep it up, too.. which is an excellent business decision.I'll use it, but something as cool as this could have been intoduced to the game alot better than this.
I mean, I don't have a ton of money to throw around, but I have a bit of money set aside as "spending money", and since City is basically my only form of entertainment (besides vodka.. ahem) I don't sweat the extra $10 once or twice per year. I already save that much (or more) by paying for my subscription annually instead of monthly. -
Well put. I have one toon who uses Swift/Hurdle/Sprint/Combat Jumping as her "travel power". The Raptor Pack and Zero-G pack are okay, but they're still really not her style. I'm going to love Ninja Run on her, even if she's not a ninja. (D&D Human Ranger.)
-
We have the best development team in the history of development teams, working on this game. So much love for you guys. <3
(And best community/playerbase. WE RULE!) -
Quote:Yeah, that was pretty much my concern too. I was hoping for more swashbuckler, knight, ranger, and other (especially D&D) type options. I have made some fairly good costumes along those lines with what we have, but there are also some great ninja costumes already, so it's not a question of "need".4) If this is the "Natural" origin booster pack, I guess we're out of luck on things like backpacks, quivers, scabbards, etc., huh? Unless maybe (hopefully) they'll appear in a future pack.
For me, it's more a question of getting a poofy shirt, vest, and ostrich feathered hat so I can justify rolling up yet another DB toon and name him Bruce, so he can take over Spirit of Tampa Bay's VG (The Buccaneers of course!) when she is redeemed. -
Wow, so yeah. I'm going to have to get really good about remembering to turn it off and turn CJ back on when getting into combat.
I don't suppose there's a way we could have Ninja Run simply suppress Combat Jumping instead of turning it off? So when I engage in combat I can just turn off Ninja Run and still have my (meager) defense? *ducks* Sorry Devs! Still not complaining! I love youuuu! ;]
