  1. ((Too busy to log on and do actual RP lately. If you want/need info, shoot me a PM, please?))
  2. ((Whoa. Just a coincidence actually. Didn't realize that until you brought it up.))
  3. The next time Coile sleeps, he will have a dream. It is entirely possible that the following is a mere dream, and not a divine message. But there is no way to be sure, nor can Nut be contacted regarding it.

There is a female voice sounding a lot like Nut. "In the high east of the world, in the range men call Tien Shan, on the snowy slopes of the giant men call Khan Tengri, Lord of the Spirits, there is a rare blue flower that blossoms once a century. Bring one such as it to Paragon City, alive, and replant it while it is still in bloom."

    Teenage heroes

I'm sure the Pocket D could host a non-alcoholic concert once a year. Maybe hire Shakira for a performance...

After all, 17 year olds are only a year away from being the most prolific consumers of club beverages...it's important to hook the demographic early on.

Maybe a villain organization captures an adult hero, and the adult hero community mobilizes to rescue him. But only the teenage heroes realize that the adult's teenage sidekick has also been captured, and in tracking down the place where the sidekick is being held captive, they come together to rescue the sidekick.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's been impossible since the beginning of the game. For RPers and gamers alike.

Let's think, how is it impossible...

Because in this game, the city authorities don't allow two groups to use the same name. The city records still show that there are heroes registered as part of the Rooftop Generation. As far as the city is concerned, the RG is still a registered SG, so no-one else can call themselves that. QED.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Your logic is seriously flawed. Do you think that every supergroup calling themselves by some name is registered with the city? Furthermore, your "registration" example has little effect on the Rogue Isles. If a group of villains wanted to call themselves Rooftop Generation, do you think the Arachnos registrar would really give an excrement about whether a similarly named group existed in Paragon City? I doubt Arachnos works that closely with the officials of Paragon City.

Actually there is no IC reason another group could use the name, as the name is still in use.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Since when it is impossible for one group to steal another one's name ICly? X-Statix sure as hell did it to X-Force, took over X-Force's name against X-Force's wishes.

I'm well aware of that. I was not talking about the resolved issue. I was talking about another issue that had not been resolved - that of an incorrect statement being made. The statement had not been corrected yet, and thus was an open issue, so I corrected it.

thanks for the compliment on the name but it makes no sense for another group to use RGs name.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sense could be made a-plenty. Tons of reasons could be conceived why another group might ICly use the name. (My personal favorite idea is a villain supergroup who takes the name because they want to tarnish it.)

However, if people OOCly would throw a fuss over it, then that's the real issue, and the one that would merit stepping off the idea. Not because it couldn't be made to make sense.

    Nut

The dance club Pocket D isn't exactly the kind of place where you're likely to run into a goddess. Well, dance clubs are full of goddesses, really, but just the regular loose blonde variety, not the Egyptian immortal variety. Nonetheless, the sky goddess Nut has found herself there over and over again. Perhaps because the music soothes her. Perhaps because she has come to be friends with the patron War Witch. Perhaps because the sight of heroes and villains mingling pleases her. Some, or none of the above.

Tonight is another night that Nut finds herself on the upper balcony overlooking the dance floor, looking over the ravers in a detached manner beside War Witch. "He seems very occupied with a quest of his own. I cannot impose mine on him as well."

"A man like him has to be in high demand", War Witch sips her coffee thoughtfully. "If Doctor Temporis can't help you find a means to get back to your home dimension, we'll simply look for other solutions, right?"

"I have time to wait", Nut places her hands on the railing and leans forward a little, watching the Council vampyr hit on an eidolon. "I have watched millennia go by. If there is anything you learn as a god, it is patience."

"If you are a god", War Witch says matter-of-factly without taking her eyes from the dance floor.

"What do you mean?" Nut's eyes narrow a little, with a bit of electricity crackling in them. "I am who I am", she insists.

"You could be insane", War Witch continues, still blunt and unemotional in tone. "Delusional. Fabricating this entire story about being the ancient Egyptian sky goddess. Your aura is different from any ancient deity I've met."

Lowering her head a moment, Nut ponders the words, allowing the electric build-up in her eyes to subside gradually. "Perhaps you are correct, War Witch. I could merely be insane. But then, how would you explain my magics?"

"Latent subconscious reality manipulation?" War Witch says, then after a moment, shrugs and glances over her shoulder at Nut. "You could be making the world conform to your view of what it should be." Pause. "It's a possibility."

"And do you believe this...possibility?" Nut asks.

"I neither believe nor disbelieve", War Witch says. "On the topic of magic, it is important to keep a mind open to all options. Sooner or later, we will find out."

"Sooner or later", Nut agrees with a slight nod. "Sooner or later, I will breach the wards separating me from Heliopolis and find out what - or who - is keeping me from it. Sooner or later."

    "I have time to wait."

  11. I find GG RP difficult because my moods to play the game are sporadic. I may feel like playing for three days or a week straight, then not play again for a month. That's not conducive to a healthy GG experience, as people will have largely forgotten you by the time you return from your hiatus. So you'll mostly be working extra effort to get from the outside in, every time you come to GG.

In missions it's easy to just slip out IC comments here and there. I'm not strict about always being IC, and if the situation demands it, I can always drop OOC at need, but when possible, I really enjoy making IC comments in the midst of missions. I always get very thrilled when somebody joins the ICing during a mission. It heightens my enjoyment of the team a great deal.

I would love it if Find Member had a checkbox for RPer, so you could search only for RPers, and put together an RPer team. That would so rock. Right now my biggest difficulty is not knowing how to find fellow RPers when I'm putting together pickup teams.
  12. As others have said, *if* we wanted to use "CCCP" (which isn't certain by any means, it's just an idea out there, like Commissar's own idea) then I'm not sure if there are any actual legal problems with it - and in any case, I consider any such problems to be irrelevant - I am merely suggesting asking the Americans out of *politesse*.

That is after all what separates us from Americans; we're polite over on this side of the pond.

    (Just kidding.)
  13. Aren't the Ultimates kind of the exact opposite of a Golden Age team? They're about as 'edgy' and modern as you can get.
  14. I would seriously consider getting in touch with the US servers' CCCP and asking if they'd feel bad about CCCP expanding over to the EU servers as well. (In effect, asking if they'd allow us to use the name here as well.)

I think that building up an estabilished brand is better than having scattered groups across servers that try to do the same thing but have no unity.

That's just my two cents though.
  15. http://www.fuzzyempire.com/cccp/

Was great fun over on the US servers. Can't recommend it enough.

I'd love to help but I'm out of slots on Union.

    RP recruitment

So, I feel like playing a little again.

Did anything happen with this ?

How do I see a list of global chat channels so I can look for one to join?

I would like to find some RPers right now, but I imagine running across both servers and broadcasting in each zone 'any RPers?' isn't exactly an ideal solution.
  17. I only really create female characters (though male RL) because I find that most character concepts that come out of my head are female as they emerge. I have to consciously force myself to come up with a male character if I want one.

I roleplay males better though, but I create females better. ;D

    Go figure.

I think it's a problem with flawed IC/OOC separation inside my head when it comes to romantic matters. At the same time, I don't have problems with IC/OOC separation when it comes to arguments, fights or other such things.
  18. I'm awake. Supercharger will bring along her buddy Sourface if there is room.
  19. Supercharger will try to be there if I can wake up in time.
  20. Alien Alliance

When the Rikti came, not all aliens on board their ships were Rikti themselves. Some were hired mercenaries, others captives or slaves. For various reasons, their association with the Rikti has ended. Perhaps a mercenary chose to switch sides, perhaps a slave escaped. Or perhaps an alien even ended up on this desolate mudball through an entirely different avenue than coming with the Rikti.

The Alien Alliance is for all space alien characters on Union, united by a desire to find a way off this crazy barbaric planet. The main goal of the SG is to find a way off Earth, though for story purposes it will never of course be realized (the Gilligan's Island/ST: Voyager syndrome).

The faction is willing to bend rules and morality to achieve their goals, and thus this is a villain SG. All origins, archetypes and powersets are accepted, though certain Mastermind primaries may warrant a second glance (how exactly did an alien from another galaxy end up with ninjas as minions?).

SG activity is mostly doing missions, although IC dialogue is encouraged. Heavy, involved roleplay scenes probably will be rare, but it's nice if you can remain at least mildly in character even while doing missions.

If interested, PM me on the forums or global chat @Samy.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
I read it as a bit of advice encouraging people to work -with- us as regards the effects of the retcon, and not as a warning to not let "Raven and Wordy" get away with forcing people into something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Precisely.
  22. I think you people need to think more about what YOU want to happen. Otherwise people are just gonna pull a whole "Oh Raven and Word FORCED this to happen on us" and somebody's gonna pull that card on them sooner or later.

It has to be everybody's own choice how this affects anything. If you prefer being on good terms with Nevermore, figure out how those events went down instead (and ask for help if you need). If you prefer disliking him, figure out how those events were unchanged (and ask for help if you need).

    So instead of:

    "Did this happen or not?"

    ask:

"I want this end result. Do we need to assume anything specific in order for it to occur?"

If everybody makes their own desires clear, then there is no weight on the retconners' shoulders. But if everybody just humors them and pretends to play along for now, but inside is offended -- that bitterness will grow and erupt sooner or later.

So do what YOU want and ask how to get there. Do not ask to be TOLD what to do.
  23. Crisis on Infinite Alts.

Some of you younger people may not remember how, for years after the original Crisis, we didn't even know how Wonder Girl related to Wonder Woman...that was a major continuity question we didn't get resolved for *YEARS*.

It's all up to you guys to make up your own new continuities. I guess my point is you can let things dangle and backfill stuff later on...it's silly to stress about some things being left unclear when the biggest comic book publisher itself left stuff unclear for years to come.

Just use a status quo you're comfortable with, and how things got to that point can always be glossed over.
  24. The ad simplifies roleplaying for people who might be unfamiliar with the concept, and tries to make it appealing as a pastime to the average person. That doesn't mean all Americans play like that -- it just means that that's a variety of D&D playing (the game CAN, contrary to popular belief, be played in many ways) that is closest to an average outsider's understanding, and thus the easiest way to hook them in.

They can always convert to hardcore roleplayers later, but if we want to preserve the hobby's existence, we need to hook new people, not the old veterans.
  25. Personally I would vote for the square in the raised fortress part of Mercy Island, the one you get to when you enter behind Mongoose, where you'll find Arbiter Richard and the Quartermaster. It's an open area, accessible to even the lowest-level characters and it has, IMO, the air of a 'meeting place'.
